The Project American Heroes 1970 Chevelle is a one-off custom-built muscle car that checks off every item on your fantasy build checklist. It was originally built by Route 66 Motorsports as a way to give something back to our American servicemen and women. When it was finished it was taken to the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Orange County, California. The Barrett-Jackson Auction is famous for raising money for special causes. This car raised $250,000 and the whole amount went to the Armed Forces Foundation helping families of American servicemen. The build by Route 66 Motorsports was chronicled in Super Chevy Magazine. They did not take a dime for building the car. It all went to our American Heroes.

The now famous 1970 Chevelle is available for sale through Rick Hendrick Performance in Concord, North Carolina. Bringing this patriot to life is a 6.2 supercharged LSA V8 engine, 1970 Chevelle American Heroesproducing over 550 horsepower and more than 550 foot-pounds of torque. That power is transferred through an automatic transmission putting power to the ground by custom one-off Boze alloy wheels wrapped in Toyo Z-rated tires. In charge of controlling all that power is a Detroit Speed 4-corner coilover suspension setup, and DSE rear swivel-link. Stopping power comes from the reliable Baer’s 4-piston caliper brakes. The chassis, suspension, braking and drivetrain systems have all passed an intensive and thorough inspection by one of Hendrick's trained restoration specialists, so you can have peace of mind driving and enjoying this amazing car. This vehicle is offered for sale at $125,000 and is not part of any type of charity related transaction. With its history and provenance this car will be a stellar addition to any high profile collection.

It is being talked about all over the internet. Click here for a story on Or see a video below done by V8TV.

Recently, a reader brought to our attention another phishing scam where a seller tried to get him to pay for a vehicle through Google Wallet, a service for making protected credit card payments. Our reader, who was the buyer in this case, was being baited by the scam seller to provide his Google Wallet user ID. Since the buyer didn't have a Google Wallet account, the scammer encouraged him to open one. Then the scammer would try to trick the buyer into giving him the buyer's user ID or login information. Luckily, the buyer got suspicious and did not open an account, nor did he provide login information. To push the scammer a little further, our reader requested an in-person exchange at which point the scam seller immediately cut off communications with him.

What COL has found is that if the situation would've gone any further, the scammer would then send a spoofed Google Checkout page for the buyer to fill out. When the buyer filled out the spoofed form the scammer would then be able to access his Google Wallet login and password and therefore have access to credit card information. In very short order the scammer would be using it to make major purchases on the internet.

The very premise of this scam is false. Google Wallet was never intended to be used for person-to-person purchases and does not allow them. But the scammer will try to convince you that the transaction can be made with Google Wallet just to get your information. Only approved merchants can make transactions through Google Wallet. Also, Google Wallet does not approve vehicle purchases. Be wary of any seller that tries to encourage you to use Google Wallet for vehicle purchases. It should be noted that Google Wallet is a very safe service when it is used correctly. They too are victims of this scam.

In the walk around video, a WeBe Auto representative and the 1950 Plymouth Woodieowner talk about the vehicle. The owner is able to give us insights into this beautiful treasure. It is no longer the original block but is a 68 or 69 Block that was 350 Horse power from the factory and has more than that now. They tell us that it runs and drives fantastic down the road, and says they think it has low miles. What they say for sure is that it is a PHS documented Judge with a copy of the original window sticker showing the Judge option for $337.02 back in 1970. They indicate that it is an awesome looking older restoration that has been repainted once back to its original Atoll blue code 28 E. We had to call this seller just to make sure this was a real ad. That's how good the price is on this 1970 Buick GS 455 from Eagan, Minnesota. He told us it was 100 percent numbers 1970 Buick GS 455matching and documented by a factory build sheet. The car's exterior color is Burnish Irid metallic (referred to often as Rootbeer Brown.) He says it has a deluxe GS interior with full console in burnished brown, and that the interior is mint with no tears or rips in the seats, door panels or dash. He even says it has the original 455 ci big block motor rated at 350 horsepower and 510 foot lbs of torque at 2800 rpm, and has a turbo 400 transmission, plus factory air conditioning. I know, right? For those who appreciate vintage classic iron, look at this 1940 Buick Special that has been listed by Gateway Classic Cars in Louisville, Kentucky. The interior is tan cloth, and it's powered by a 107 hp 248ci overhead valve straight 8 cylinder engine, with a 3speed on the column transmission. Be the first one to call for a shot at a 1968 Corvette that was an original 427/390 hp car, according to the ad copy. It also says that the current engine is a '68 327/350 hp motor although the owner 1968 Corvettehas a 427 block and cylinder heads that will go with the car. He says the interior is all original and has never been replaced although he says it is still in excellent shape. He says the frame is solid, radiator support is solid also. According to the ad copy, the only bodywork the seller cfould find is the tail light panel has been replaced. He says the tops don't leak. The '50s was an age in which classic Buicks flourished. It was a time when Harley Earl cast a giant shadow over the automotive industry, and Buick was one of his show pieces. This stylish 1956 1956 Buick Riviera 2-Dr HardtopBuick Riviera 2-Dr Hardtop was more of an upper middle class offering for Americans on the move. This one was (of course) a California car, a state where the automobile was a lifestyle in itself. They say it has had the same owner for many years. Our seller says it has a rebuilt 322 ci V8, automatic transmission, vintage air conditioning, new wide whites with stock hubcaps, a Continental kit and dual exhaust. It has a great combination of beautiful paint, interior, chrome and stainless. according to the description. It is being offered for sale through a broker in California, and he says it drives excellent! It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $17,950.

In the late 1970's Pontiac virtually owned the muscle car market, refusing to give up on performance and endearing itself to the American sports car buying public. Cars like this 1979 1979 Pontiac Trans AmPontiac Trans Am were superior handling performance cars and were indeed very fast. Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa has it for sale at such a nice price that we had to show it to you here. It had a "driver quality" restoration, they say, with a nice finish. Two problems they note are the kick panels and the steering wheel. There are a couple of videos linked with the ad page. Click here to view one of the videos. Listen to it during the walk around. There are 60 photos on the ad page covering the interior, engine and the undercarriage. They tell quite a story. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $8,995.
