Hot August Nights 2013
Car Show at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino
Our first stop on Wednesday was at the Atlantis Hotel and Casino on South Virginia Street in Reno. The weather was as mild as I've ever seen it here in Reno, only 82 degrees today. As the evening developed the number of cars in the show area grew. Live bands were playing '50s rock n' roll music and the sounds of engines revving provided the back beat.
Once you register your car for the Hot August Nights festivities you can pick which show areas you want to display your car at. Most people go from one casino to another where there is food and shopping provided by vendors eager to sell their wares. The Atlantis is one of the big venues for spectators. Here are some of the cars we saw at the Atlantis on Wednesday.
A 1939 Ford Roadster was a tremendous draw at the Atlantis Casino Show and Shine. This one had an incredible interior with digital dash and beautiful wheels.
The multi-colored flames on this 1951 Mercury Convertible made it stand out among the classic customs at the Atlantis. This one was for sale.
A 1957 Buick Special may take lowriders to another level. This extreme custom seems to exist in an alternate reality.
A trio of Willys customs was a highlight at the Atlantis on Wednesday.
