Many of our readers are unaware that the Project Car Section is the most popular section on the Cars-On-Line website. With all of the six figure, high end trailer queens capturing the glory here on the newsletter page each week we often do not realize how much potential there is in the Project Car Section.
For instance, yesterday a 1971 Dodge Challenger Hemi R/T was listed for sale by North Shore Classics in Mundelein, Illinois. That should get your attention.
North Shore Classics says this Hemi Challenger has a restamped numbers matching block. The Galen Govier report says it is one of only 58 that came from the factory with a Pistol Grip 4-speed. He says it is numbers matching.
So why is it in the Project Car Section? It hasn't been driven in nearly a decade. So the buyer will have to be able to carefully get it back on the road. There are lots of photos of the undercarriage showing surface rust probably from being in long term storage. (Find dozens of detailed photos at the link.)
North Shore Classics says it comes with an original broadcast sheet and original fender tags. They indicate that it is the perfect candidate for a full rotisserie restoration. And it is one of the best opportunities many of us will ever have at owning a Hemi Challenger like this one.

As the Los Angeles International Auto Show opens in LA today, you will find a special display by Trans Am Worldwide, showing off their "70/SS" retro design as a tribute to the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. They are currently taking orders on the "70/SS". This is the Florida company that brought you the retro Trans Am which was based on GM's Chevrolet Camaro body. Likewise, the "70/SS" will use the Camaro base car to develop the more medium sized replica of a modern day Chevelle. Motor options include a 450hp LT1, 396ci 900 rear wheel horsepower engine upgrade, or the LS6/X twin turbo 454 with 1500 streetable rear wheel horsepower. The LS6/X model will be limited to only 25 units. Click here to find out more. The Los Angeles Auto Show runs November 18-27, 2022. Traditionally, it is the first new car dealer show each year in the U.S. The big premier this year will be the redesigned Toyota Prius. The Korean made Genesis is the hottest looking of the new EV cars being showcased.
The most important thing you will find out from a COL Inspection report is the true condition class of a vehicle. A potential buyer in Western New York had us look at a 1947 Hudson Pickup which had been turned into a street rod. Our inspector went out to see the truck in Florida, and found out that the rare hot rod pickup was in average No. 3 condition. It was a good driver but the paint and bodywork was sub-par. The interior, though, would probably surprise you. It would be what we call a 10-footer. When you get up close you would find cracks in the paint and primer showing through. There was even some bondo detected. Yet the Hudson truck is pretty rare. For the right buyer it would be an easy restoration. Click here to read the entire pre-purchase inspection report. You can even view a sampling of the photos which came with the report. There were about a hundred photos in the original report.
Our newsletter readers know that you should always have a pre-purchase inspection done on a collector vehicle before you buy. There are no warranties on old cars, so it is buyer beware when purchasing a collector car. Click here to find out how to order a pre-purchase inspection and appraisal.

The Raleigh Winter Classic Auction, coming up December 2-3, 2022, will be the last big collector car auction for 2022. It will be held in Youngsville, North Carolina at the Capitol Auto Auction facility. Close to 300 cars are expected to be in the auction inventory. The Raleigh Classic Winter Auction is the one that has the reputation for offering a number of low mile classic cars with provenance. Here is a sampling of the cars they currently have advertised on our website.
The Raleigh Winter Classic Auction typically offers some of the finest mucle cars in the country. This 1971 Buick Gran Sport Stage 1 Convertible will cross the auction block on Saturday. It is an incredible example. Finished in its original color of Bittersweet Mist, this GS Stage 1 is one of only 81 convertibles produced for 1971. The car is equipped with its numbers matching 455ci V8 engine and Turbo Hydra-Matic automatic trans. Click here to check their auction inventory for more top level muscle cars.
If you are looking for classic 1950's cars, the Raleigh Winter Classic Auction is the place to be in Youngsville, NC, December 2-3. The top '50s classic is this 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible finished in its original colors of Elysian Green paint with green leather interior and green convertible top. There were only 1,800 Biarritz convertibles produced that year. This is an excellent opportunity to own one of the finest in existence. They say it has all the available options for that year. It was rotisserie restored to high standards.
For some reason the Raleigh Winter Classic Auction seems to attract more classic woody station wagons than any other collector car auction we attend. For example, here is a rare 1951 Mercury Woody Wagon which will cross the auction floor on Saturday, December 3. '51 was the last year Mercury used real wood in building their wagons, and only 3,812 were produced. This particular example recently received a comprehensive frame-off restoration. The vehicle was acquired just one year ago from the Steelewood Collection.
Because the Raleigh Winter Classic Auction is so popular among owners of new car dealerships in the Southeast (many of whom are avid car collectors themselves), you will see some elite specialty late model sports cars offered at the Raleigh Classic that you won't see anywhere else. Here is a 2019 Bullitt Mustang in Highland Green finish. With only 6k miles, this high performance version of the Mustang is Ford's tribute to the famous Hollywood movie Bullitt, a favorite of car collectors. With Track and Sport modes, it is said to do 0 to 60 in 4.4 seconds.

One of the cars that is dear to the hearts of the good people at Flemings Ultimate Garage in Rockville, Maryland is a Sunfire Yellow 1972 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible. They say it is a real deal 442 convertible, pretty rare to find today. Owner Tony Fleming takes you through what makes this a special find in today's collector car market. They say it is period correct and authentic. Click the video window above to get a 442 education. Do you agree that this one is show quality?

An interesting 1968 Chevy II Nova was listed for sale this week from Topeka, Kansas by a private party seller. It is interesting because it was made into an L79 327/350 tribute. But, more important, the seller says it only has 5,900 actual miles. Now that is amazing. It comes with a clean title registered in Kansas. He says the 327 was rebuilt by S & K Engine Specialists. It has the original Powerglide transmission with 2200 stall converter. You don't find low miles cars like this one very often.
The following are more recently listed Low Miles cars:

Although it runs, this 1956 Ford Thunderbird will need restoration. That's the word from Cody's Classic Cars in Stanley, Wisconsin. They note that it needs brakes to get it driving again. In addition, the windshield needs to be replaced, and the gauges are inoperable. In fact, they say it really needs everything to be redone. It does have the 312 V8 and a 3-speed manual transmission.
The following are available in the Project Car Section this week:

The headline "Hemi Coronet" should get your attention. But don't get too excited because this is more of a resto mod Hemi car with a 5.7L modern Hemi motor. Just the same, this 1970 Dodge Coronet Convertible is interesting because the private party seller from Winchester, Ontario, Canada was asking $54,000. But just today he reduced the price to $49,900. Now that's worth checking into.
You'll find hundreds more PRICE REDUCED vehicles on the Price Reduced Feed today. Here are just a few:

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line homepage. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the homepage!
Classic Car Deals, a collector car broker, has listed a rare muscle car for their client in New York. This 1972 Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertible is considered rare beause Pontiac did not make a GTO convertible in '72, but they did make this Lemans Sport Convertible. Classic Car Deals notes that this one is in the middle of a restoration. Most of the electricals have to be redone, as well as the paint. Although it does drive and stop, it should be trailered because it needs so much electrical work completed. For the right buyer, this could be a great opportunity to own a rare muscle car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $18,995.
You have to love the body style. A private collector from Wakefield, Rhode Island has this pink 1948 Plymouth Special Deluxe Club Coupe for sale. It has been redone as a mild custom but retains the original look with sun visors and mirrors. A 1950 Flat Head 218 ci 6 cylinder motor has a single 1-barrel carburetor with split exhaust headers run to a dual exhaust system. The private party seller says it starts and runs well. The transmission is a 3 speed manual column shift with overdrive, so it travels nicely at highway speeds to 70 mph. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy to find out the condition class. We see from the photos that it is probably a No. 3 condition car but have it inspected to know for sure. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $12,500.
Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles has some of the top deals in the new listings this week. They posted a 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza 900 for sale at a very affordable price. It is a deep discount to the average value in the market. It is finished in its factory shade of blue (732) combined with a light blue interior. Equipped with a manual transmission, V6 engine, Rochester dual carburetors, single exhaust outlet, it also has front bucket seats, rear bench seats and a real vintage Delco radio. Beverly Hills Car Club tells us it is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because their asking price is $8,950. Get a pre-purchase inspection by visiting this link.
Beverly Hills Car Club also posted this red 1957 Ford Thunderbird for sale this week. Look through the photos to see the contrasting red and white interior. Equipped with an automatic transmission, V8 engine, Holley carburetor, Colonial White removable hard top, convertible soft top, rear fender skirts, front fender louvers, chrome grille, hood scoop, two-spoke steering wheel, chrome bumpers, Firestone whitewall tires, chrome hub caps, and a full-size spare tire in the trunk. It has optons such as 4-way power bench seat, driver-side mirror, analog clock, retro-style radio and power windows. Interestingly, their asking price is affordable. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $27,500.
Although all of today's Deals of the Day are interesting, this may be the real sleeper of the group. Here is a 1983 Jeep CJ-7 that was restored in the past five or six years with only 4,000 miles on the restoration. It is being offered for sale at 4-Wheel Classics, a Michigan business that specializes in four-wheel drive vehicles. When it was restored, the CJ tub was replaced with a YJ tub that was clean and rust free so it has no rust issues. The engine is the 4.2L 258 Inline 6. They say it runs great. It has a 4 1/2-inch Rubicon Express Lift Kit with new shocks, new springs, HD shackles, and stainless brake lines. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. Their asking price is $18,900.
The owner of this 1966 Chevrolet C10 Shortbed is certain that it has undergone a restoration, but he does not know who did it or when it was done. He says the paint is good with no dents or damage anywhere. He does point out that there is one very small spot of rust just starting on the body at the lower left corner of the cab. There’s some rust on the underside of the cab. Check out the photos of the interior which looks to be restored. It has a Chevy 350 V8 with Quadrajet carburetor and electric choke. The transmission is a 3-speed automatic "shifts smoothly." It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Their asking price is $19,900.
There is just nothing cooler than parking a 1966 Jaguar Mark II Saloon in your driveway. Watch your neighbors jaws hit the ground. So this week Beverly Hills Car Club posted this one for sale in British Racing Green finish. It is right hand drive and comes with a 2.4-Liter 4-speed (factory overdrive) featured with matching numbers. The vehicle comes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, dual carburetors, toggle switches, wood trim, wire wheels, and a spare tire. Check out the photos. Beverly Hills Car Club calls it an "excellent and well-equipped weekend cruiser that is mechanically sound."It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $19,750.
