In a press release earlier this week the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum announced the acquisition of a very rare Cord motorcar. A 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton with dual side-mount tires was donated to the museum from the private collection of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Stanbury of Bath, New York.  Only two Cord automobiles were built with the dual side-mounts, and both exist today. With this donation, the museum can now ensure that this important piece of Cord automotive history will be preserved for all time. The press release says the 1937 Cord 812 Phaeton is now currently on display at the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum. Go to automobilemuseum.org.

The first day of the Raleigh Classic Collector Car Auction is underway today. The classic car auction, May 6-7, 2022, will run through tomorrow at the Capitol Auto Auction facility in Youngsville, North Carolina (just outsite of Raleigh.) A priivate party seller from Anchorage, Alaska, listed a very rare and desirable classic Chevrolet this week. When he posted his photos of his 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop we noticed the "Fuel Injection" logo beneath the bowties on the front fender. This is a fuel-injected “High Horse” solid lifter 283 V8 engine. What's more, the seller says it still has only 36,000 miles on the clock. That's amazing. What a find! There were only 524 2-Door Hardtops produced with Rochester Fuel Injection that year. So you can see how rare this Chevy is. He says it has a posi rear end, and comes with nice paint and interior.

According to Beverly Hills Car Club, this 911 came factory fitted with the Slant Nose option (M505). That is what it says in their recent listing, a 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo. They say it is No. 286 out of just 701 such Slant Nose Porsches produced that year. It is numbers matching and comes in its factory color code #80k India Red with a black interior. Beverly Hills Car Club also notes that it comes with a clean Carfax.  is equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, Flat 6 cylinder 3.3-liter engine, air conditioning, power windows, sunroof, 4-wheel disc brakes, factory slant nose body option, limited-slip differential, Fuchs wheels, air compressor, and a spare tire. It is not often that you see a real factory M505 Slant Nose advertised.

A collector from Cleveland, Ohio is thinning his herd. One of his recent for sale listings is this 1970 Corvette Convertible with only 8,548 original miles. He says he is the original owner. The silver Corvette comes with a black top and interior, 350/350 high horsepower motor, 4-speed manual transmission and a factory installed alarm system. What a find!

One of the most interesting project cars to cross our pages in quite some time was listed this week by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It is a 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible, one of the most significant cars of the 1950's era. This fabulous classic is ready for a full scale restoration. It runs and drives, but needs some TLC. When a unique 1973 International Mohs Safarikar, a one-off custom, was listed for sale it was a shot heard round the world. After all, this is a creation of the legendary inventor Bruce Baldwin Mohs. It was custom designed for African safaris, and now probably belongs in a museum. It was originally listed for sale for $179,000. But just recently the seller lowered the price to $168,000.

There is a cult movement of collectors who build tributes to the 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart big block Mopar race cars built by Hurst. These were known as Super Stock cars, stripped down in weight to run in Super Stock class drag racing. Pontiac made many versions of the Firebird and Trans Am F-platform. A Firebird variant that was considered a "Poor Man's" Trans Am was the Firebird Formula. Here is an excellent driver quality example of a 1975 Pontiac Firebird Formula in Bimini Blue. It is being offered for sale at Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They seem flush with bargain deals this week. (See more below.) With a 350 ci V8 for performance, they say it performs like a Trans Am without the screaming chicken on the hood. If you want to have some fun, that's what this 1929 Ford Model A Tudor is all about. A Graham, Washington collector had given this one to his daughter to play around with. She's moving, so she told her dad to sell it. A driver quality ride with Tweety Bird decals, it comes with a bevy of tools, trophies and memories. The private party seller is offering all the trophies to go with the car. It also has three new spare tires and an extra wheel. There is a lot of stuff here for the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $12,400. Have fun!

If this car looks fast just standing still, it is because it was designed to look that way by Studebaker designor Raymond Loewy. It still strikes a stunning image after all these years. This is a 1940 Studebaker Champion 2, another of the incredibly low priced offerings from the Classic Auto Mall this week. Check out the photos of the interior with its Art Deco dash and broadcloth interior in surprisingly good condition. They say it has had an older restoration, but look how well it has been maintained. This one may be the "sleeper" of the DEAL of the DAY cars for this week. The asking price is only $16,500.

It seems like just yesterday, but it was twenty years ago now when these little two-seater British roadsters were the hottest cars on the collector car scene. This is a 1951 MG TD Roadster being offered for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia this week. They say it has spent most of its days in sunny Hawaii under the care of an Air Force officer who cared for it until 2007. The second owner used it in Hawaii for another ten years, at which time he performed an extensive refurbishing. He drove it regularly. In 2017, a Georgia collector obtained the car and rebuilt the bottom end of the engine. Click here to review the walk-around video. They say it runs great. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. Classic Auto Mall also listed this 1960 Ford Falcon, a real blast from the past. It looks so good in the pictures that it brings back thoughts of finding Little Debbie cakes at the store, the Everly Brothers playing on the radio, the early Kennedy years and doing the Twist at the high school dance. This was the first year for the Falcon, a car that was originally designed to be an economy car at a time when every family needed a second car. This one has a six cylinder motor, 170 horsepower, and a 1-barrel carburetor. But you will be surprised at the acceleration and drivability of this little six popper. It will be our DEAL of the DAY at midweek. Their asking price is just $14,000.

The dictionary definition of a "Gemlin" is a cute little imaginary animal with a mischevious bent that causes unexpected problems. The name could not have been more appropriate as American Motors came out with their Gremlin model economy car. It was just before the Arab Oil Embargo when Americans were beginning to see how gas prices could effect their pocket books. This rare example of an original 1972 AMC Gremlin with air conditioning. It is being offered for sale through Classic Car Deals, an internet broker. They say it runs and drives great. Find out more at the link. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. A second original MG TD Roadster has been listed for sale this week. This one is a 1953 model being offered for sale through Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. Black with a red leather interior and beige tonneau cover, they say it is numbers matching. If the odometer tumblers are correct this may be a low miles example. You should ask when you inquire about the car. It comes equipped with a manual transmission, dual carburetors, soft top, side curtains, Tonneau cover, MG hub caps and steel wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $22,750.
