Congratulations to Wes Rydell and Troy Trepanier's Rad Rides by Troy. Their 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline custom won the Legend Cup Award at the Chicago World of Wheels custom auto show last weekend. We were there for the competition as twenty beautiful classic customs contended for the award. On Saturday they announced the Select Six, the top six cars. From those six they chose Rydell's 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline as this year's Legend Cup winner. Click here to read the story by Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com. He also posted a ton of great photos from the show. The 1941 Chevrolet Fleetline had also been chosen as the Goodguys Street Rod of the Year in 2021.

A Pontiac GTO lover from Michigan asked Cars-On-Line's Inspection Service to do a pre-purchase inspection report on a 1969 Pontiac GTO he was interested in buying. His biggest concern was that the numbers would match. Here is what the Colorado inspector discovered when he presented the potential buyer with his 5-page inspection report. You can read the report and look at the detailed photos that the inspector provided. Although the numbers did match on this car, it was in a Number 4 condition class. You can read the fair market value in the report. This car had many problems, from the paint to the panel fitment. It would, however, have been a good candidate for a complete restoration.

Aston Martin is almost an automotive genre all its own. The Aston Martins are stately yet sporty cars that an English gentleman would drive, thus giving the driver an instant tranfusion of James Bond-ish importance and excitement. Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York specializes in cars such as this 1962 Aston Martin DB4 (Bond drove a DB5 in the Goldfinger movie.) The coachwork on this particular Series II Saloon was done by Touring Superleggera. Because it comes out of 12 years on display, it would need a recommissioning to be driven regularly. Thus the discount as stated in the ad copy.

A very rare 1941 Oldsmobile 98 2-Door Convertible just hit our Oldsmobile Section for sale this week. It is such an unusual find. 1941 was the first year for the 98 series. It was immediately the top-of-the-line Oldsmobile and would remain in that status until 1996. There were only 1,263 model 98 2-Door convertibles and coups produced that year. It was the year that the wheel-base was increased to 125 inches, and they had 39 1/2 inches of legroom in the rear two seats. Pre-war Oldsmobiles in this kind of condition are investments for the purist who wants his cars original. This one came from the collection of Charles M. Crawley, co-founder of Mastercard. The quality of this offering should not be overlooked.

MS Classic Cars listed a beautiful 1961 Chevrolet Bel Air Bubble Top 409 this week. They wanted to promote the fact that they will be offering this prime muscle car at the upcoming Barrett-Jackson Auction in Palm Springs. MS Classic Cars likes to promote their auction cars on Cars-On-Line to get their vehicles some notoriety in the collector car hobby. That is how top cars get top money. They say this car has been meticulously restored and spent years on the ISCA car show circuit achieving trophies along the way. Here is the rarest 1957 Ford Skyliner Retractable that we have ever seen. It is an F Code example in Raven Black. Not only did Ford give this Skyliner the jaw-dropping retractable "disappearing hardtop", but it even supercharged this one with the F Code 312 ci V8. There were only 20 F Code Ford Retractables produced from the factory. This is one of them. Read more about the history of this fascinating classic car by clicking here. Mention the word Delahaye at a collector car auction and heads will turn. The French luxury car is one of the most esteemed marques over the ages. A 1947 Delahaye 135 M Cabriolet will be offered at the RM Sotheby's Ft Lauderdale Auction next week. The car comes from the respected Rey Collection. Coachwork was by Chapron. With an older restoration, it is dramatically finished in black over a cognac interior with brown cabriolet top.

We have come to expect the finest in exotic super cars to be offered at an RM Sotheby's Auction. The Ft Lauderdale sale will have many high profile Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Porsche and Mercedes exotic late model sports cars in its lineup. Here is a 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider which was just consigned. There are literally over 100 photos of the up close detail on this amazing car. Note the beautfiul Palomino leather interior. The twin turbocharged motor is beautifully photographed.

There is a very interesting classic resto rod 1932 Ford Roadster which has been built as an old school hot rod. Of course, it is built out of Henry's original steel body, it now shows a tan rumble seat and tan roadster convertible top. It is equipped with a small-block, overhead-valve, Ford V8 engine mated to an automatic transmission with period-correct, custom floor shifter. Street rod builders will be interested in this offering from a private party builder in Illinois. It is an all steel 1937 Plymouth P4 Cabriolet that has a lot of important work already done. With a 5.7 liter engine, it has an automatic transmission, framed boxed powder coated body parts, acid dipped and primed. Note the Fatman's front suspension, adju stable coilovers, power steering, Iddit tilt column, new firewall and much more. It even has power brakes, a Heidt's rear 4-lin and 17-inch artillery wheels. The 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454/450 hp Convertible is one of the rarest cars in the classic muscle car universe. You would have to pay seven figures to find out what it would feel like to drive one. That is until now. Here is a gorgeous black tribute to an LS6 convertible. It is being offered for sale at Vanguard Motor Sales in Plymouth, Michigan. It is all rotisserie restored and ready for you.

Restored in kind of a street racing motif, this 1974 Dodge Dart Swinger is a treasure you should not overlook. So much work has been done, the owner figures 100's of hours. It has a 360 ci V8 motor with a brand new tranny and torque converter. The paint is fresh, plus it has brand new Cooper Cobras on new rims; new upper and lower control arms, ball joints, inner and outer tie rods, new bushings in torsion bars, new shocks in front, air shocks and shackles in the rear. You will even see a new B&M shifter on the floor. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $15,995.

Beverly HIlls Car Club is a huge classic car clearing house. They find old cars forgotten in storage and bring them back into the market. From their headquarters in Los Angeles this week they are offering a 1951 Buick Super that looks pretty clean and solid in the photos. The color is called Barton Grey (looks light green) with a gray interior. The chrome needs to be redone and the interior needs help. A pre-purchase inspection might tell you about the undercarriage. A potential buyer would be someone who wants to restore this car. Beverly Hills Car Club tells us it is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $12,750.

A 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible was listed at a very attractive price point this week. It is being represented by Classic Car Deals, an internet broker which resells classic cars for its clients. They say the 2-door convertible is blue with a blue interior, white top and manual windows. The Corvair rear mounted engine is air-cooled (much like a VW) and the transmission is automatic. They say it has all new brakes, hoses, steel lines, new exhaust and new tires. There is not much detail on the ad page because the broker expects you to have it inspected before you buy it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday as the asking price is $12,995.

We have always observed that high end luxury cars such as Cadillacs and Lincolns make great collector cars. So this 1969 Lincoln Mark III was just listed for sale by Laguna Classic Car in Laguna Beach, California. It is a driver quality car with some dings and imperfections. But Laguna Classic Cars has posted a video test drive which helps you understand the condition class on this one. You could also have it inspected before you buy. But you will find out a lot from the video. With an original body and interior, they say it has had a refurbished engine. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. They are asking $14,500.

It is rare to find a 1949 Dodge Coronet these days. Here is one that is in better shape than most we may see, and its presented here in black paint. It is being offered for sale by Unique Specialty & Classics out of Mankato, Minnesota. The paint shows its age, but when you get in a drive this car it will surprise you. It has that Gyromatic transmission (read the ad for more details.) Unique did an interesting video walk-around to explain more about this car. This was the first year for the Coronet, so it has historical significance. It will be our DEAL of the DAY by midweek. Their asking price is $14,900.

The 1980's Mercedes SL sports convertibles were all the rage for suburban America. So many of them were sold here in the U.S. that they are in plentiful supply in this country. But in Europe they are much more valuable which makes them attactive to collectors. They are great cars, too. The 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SL you see here is being presented in Anthracite Grey and offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. Equipped with an automatic transmission, air conditioning, salvage title, cruise control, power windows, power steering, 4-wheel disc brakes, and spare tire, Beverly Hills Car Club notes that it is a mechanically strong R107 example. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The price is $16,750.

Here is a 1988 Jeep Wagoneer with a slight lift, ready for the beach. That's what it is used for today. It is being offered for sale by Drive The Coast, a classic car dealer in Santa Rosa, Florida along the Gulf coast. They say the 4-wheeler has an original AMC 360 V8 motor which "fires right up and runs out great." They note that the air conditioning blows cold. This may be the perfect off-roadin' 4-wheeler for you. Have it inspected to find out more. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. They are asking $18,000. Make them an offer.
