Congratulations to Mark Hyman of St Louis, Missouri for taking Best of Show with his 1948 Daimler DE-36 Drophead Coupe at the 15th Annual Boca Raton Concours d' Elegance last weekend. Mark Hyman is well known as president of Hyman Ltd, his classic car dealership in St Louis. His Daimler is one of only seven ever produced by the British Daimler manufacturer. The massive 20-foot long motorcar was sold only to British royalty and famous movie stars in its day. It is an example of the exclusive motorcars you will see at the Boca Raton Concours. We hope you had a chance to review the results of the Lakeland Winter Collector Car Auction last weekend, February 25-26. There was a diverse selection of collector cars as well as late model used cars and trucks in the sale. It was good to see how the bidding went. Many of you remember this 1957 Chevrolet Cameo Carrier Pickup with the big back window. It was one of the popular postings on our Facebook page during the Lakeland Auction promotions last month. The Amelia Island Concours draws important celebrities as well as some of the top historic motorcars in the world. A California buyer wanted to make sure that the car he was buying was as good as it looked in the ad. He contacted the Cars-On-Line Inspection Referral Service on our website, filled out the form and sent us to Michigan to inspect a 1961 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top that really looked good in the photos. The inspector found out that the car looked very nice and was a solid piece, although it had wiring and brake issues and could not be driven. So we had to give it a Class 4 rating. The inspector also detected bondo in the rear quarters. We consider cars like this as projects. For the right buyer, it would be an easy project to complete. After reading the inspection report the California buyer was in a better situation to put a price to this Bubble Top. Click here to read the entire report as presented to the potential buyer.

The high profile Chevelles are emerging from collections all over the country these days because they are accelerating in value all of a sudden. This beautiful 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 with the 450 horsepower monster Chevy big block factory motor was just listed for sale by Cruisin' Classics out of Columbus, Ohio. They say it has all original sheet metal and is the product of a "no expense spared" restoration. Most important, they say it has only 15k original miles on it. This is the one collectors will love because it comes with known ownership and a ton of documentation, including Rick Nelsen certification.

After Ford came out with the retro 2012 and 2013 Boss 302 Mustangs, it was assumed the Boss 302 model was terminated. But a few were produced in 2014 as well with the Boss 302S designation. Here is a 2014 Mustang Boss 302S which was offered only through Ford Racing that year. They were purpose built for road racing in a number of SCCA and NASA classes. Their after-market conversion was done at Watson Racing. At Watson, they were equipped with a 5.0-Liter Boss 302 engine optimized with racing calibration, T-6060 6-speed transmission, and a Torsen TR2 differential with 3.73:1 gears. Suspension upgrades included 3-way adjustable dampers and adjustable sway bars. This one is now being offered for sale at West New York Dream Cars in West Seneca, New York.

Coming up on March 25-26 of this month is the Ft Lauderdale Collector Car Auction being promoted by RM-Sotheby's, the great American auction house. You can expect to bid on some of the finest vintage motorcars, exotic sports cars and American muscle cars. Prime examples all. RM-Sotheby's has been promoting some of their upcoming inventory on the Cars-On-Line website this week.

Here are some examples of what you will see at Ft Lauderdale this month:

A great example of the kind of elegant vintage motorcar you will see at the RM Sotheby's Ft Lauderdale Auction is this superb 1938 Horch 853 Cabriolet. August Horch was the production manager for Karl Benz when he broke away and began building his own cars. That was in 1899. The most popular car Horch produced in the 1930's was the 853 Cabriolet. This is an especially beautiful rendition presented in stately silver and black livery accentuating the long low styling lines. This metallic finish was charasteristic of the Horch special order paint available exclusively through Horch.

Exotic super cars such as this 1984 Lamborghini Countach 5000 S with body by Bertone will be offered at the Ft Lauderdale Auction later this month. This black Countach will be offered from the Rey Collection. It is one of only 321 Countach's produced by Lamborghini from 1982 thru 1985. The odometer displays only 14k kilometers (about 8,900 miles). It has a 290 hp 4.8-liter naturally aspirated V-12 mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. It goes without saying that this is a breathtaking example of one of the most ostentatious sports cars of all time.

The muscle car consignments for the Ft Lauderdale Auction are just coming in. This 1968 Shelby GT500 KR Fastback just showed up this week. It is a beautiful example of a Lime Gold Shelby fastback with the 428CJ big block motor and a 4-speed manual transmission. The 428 V8 put out 355 horsepower, and could power the GT500 from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds. Meant for street driving more than racing, the look and stance of the GT500 KR was powerful and bold. Only 933 GT500 KR fastbacks were produced. They were all given the 428 CJ engines.

Already there are dozens of interesting classic cars from the 1950's and 1960's in the Ft Lauderdale Auction inventory. This is a particularly rare 1956 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria Skyliner. Not just a Crown Victoria, oh, no, this one has the big plexiglass roof, a good bit ahead of its time, too. It is one of only 603 Skyliners built with the glass top that year. Of the 603 produced in 1956, only a few remain, making the 1956 Skyliner models very collectible and hard to find. These cars are highly optioned and were the top-of-the-line in their day.

Chevelles are so hot in this market. So here is a 1971 Chevelle Malibu listed for sale by Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They say this car only has 18,559 original miles. It has had a respray of its original green paint, and comes with a black vinyl top. It has the 350 ci V8, a 3-speed automatic transmission and Rally wheels. But, man, what low miles.

A really desirable 1958 Cadillac DeVille 4-Door looks like it is in pretty nice condition as we see it sitting on a trailer here. It has been listed for sale by Haggle Me, an internet broker. They tell us the current owner started restoring the interior and found out he could not complete the job. This is an outstanding opportunity for the right restorer to take over this project. A 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible resto mod with a nice original look and an LS2 motor was one of the most popular posts on our Facebook page this week. The seller calls it a "show quality restoration." He has decided to reduce his price to get a quick sale. He was asking $129,500 when he first listed it last week. But today he told us to reduce his price down to $109,500. Now that's what I'm talkin' about.

Streetside Classics in Phoenix, Arizona has this really sharp black 1971 Baldwin Motion Camaro tribute which looks so much like the authentic period car that you would have to look closely to find fault with the build. It comes with an LS5 454 big block motor and an M-22 Muncie 4-speed. The Baldwin Motion paint, high rise hood and the sidepipes are all there to give a sensational look and stance.

This week a private party seller from West Allis, Wisconsin listed his 1965 Pontiac Catalina for sale. He says it runs as brand new, steers like new and brakes like new, so he concludes it is the perfect cruiser. He lists a ton of new or replaced parts in the ad copy. So much work has already been done. He also lists a few cosmetic things that need to be redone on the interior. He says the car came from Colorado so the floors are rust free. The trunk does have some rust under the mat. For the right buyer this is a diamond in the rough. You can see that it really takes a nice picture. The look and stance are right. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $17,500.

A 1940 Ford Tudor Sedan Deluxe is being offered for sale by the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. (You have to take a trip to see this converted Shopping Mall which is now renovated to be a huge classic car museum.) They have over 1,000 cars on display there. This one is a great looking original which still has a 221 ci Flathead V8 with a 2-barrel carburetor and the oil bath air cleaner assembly. It is mated to a 3-speed manual on the column. They say it runs and drives well, but has many issues which are talked about at length in the ad copy. You may want to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is only $23,500.

A 1938 Ford Sedan Deluxe has been listed for sale by a private party seller out of The Villages in Florida. It is an interesting mix of original look and authentic updates which make it very driveable on today's modern roads. They say it has a "super solid body with no rust ever. Purchased 27 years ago, it was painted in laquer, has a fresh 350/350 GM motor with a 10-bolt rear end, Vintage air and heat, Ron Francis wiring, Lokar shifter, Classic Instruments, Wheel Vintiques wire wheels and Diamondback classic tires. They say the solid front axle has new king pins, parallel leaf springs and has been converted to disc front brakes. This very interesting classic Ford will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The private seller is only asking $24,900.

Here is a 1973 Corvette which is said to have been owned by a GM mechanic for many years. He kept it very original and remains numbers matching according to the current owner. It is being sold by a private party seller from Jacksonville, Florida. He says, "This car is a pure pleasure to drive." It comes with a "very original matching numbers Corvette 350, automatic, power steering, power brakes, factory bluish green color." He decribes the origial saddle interior as "beautiful." The maintenance records go back to 1976, including all the score cards from its "show and go" days at concours events. Paint has some patina. Was repainted about 40 years ago. Lots of new parts are listed in the ad copy. t will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is $22,900.

A 1970 Chevrolet C10 Pickup has the look of an original with a few updates included. This classic pickup truck has been listed for sale by Fastlane Motorsports in Addison, Illinois. They say it comes with a factory 350 ci small block Chevy engine, mated to a TH350 automatic transmission. The engine has a mild cam, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock carburetor, serviced heads with mild porting, long tube headers and custom 3" exhaust with dumps. The air conditiioning is not installed, air compressor comes with the truck. The paint shows some fading and patina. Actual miles are not known. It will be our DEAL of the DAY at midweek this coming week. The asking price is $18,500.

A custom resto mod 1979 Ford Ranchero GT in matte black paint is being offered for sale through Classical Gas Motors, an internet broker out of Texas. They have an extremely comprehensive history and description of this vehicle linked to their web page. Classical Gas Motors tells us the body is solid and in good condition. It has a 460 ci V8 with chrome air cleaner, chrome valve covers, a 4 barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer intake. The suspension and brakes are stock original. You may remember that 1979 was the last year Ford made the Ranchero. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is $16,500.

The 1976 BMW 2002 you see pictured here is one of those dependable cars that European collectors love. This one is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. It appears here in white paint with a beige interior. It is equpped with a 4-speed maual transmission, front wheel disc brakes and a salvage title. They tell us it is an original California car which remains mechanically sound. You will have to contact them to arrange an inspection report for this car. You will want to know that it can go down the road straight and verify it's road worthiness. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $12,750.
