Last year Cars-On-Line published its picks for the Top Ten Cars that are a good bet to go up in value. We called it the "Top Ten Ready to Breakout." Many of them were what we considered undervalued in the collector car market and were ripe to accelerate in collector interest. Click here to review our Top Ten Cars Ready to Breakout fearure article. You will be surprised to find that eight out of the ten have already made big moves up in market value just since last summer. At the recent RM Sotheby's Auction we were amazied at how much consignors were getting for original Delorean DMC-12 sports cars. Up until this year, Deloreans were getting about $20,000. But at the recent Ft Lauderdale Auction they were trending around $50,000. One sold for $123,200 at the Scottsdale sale in January.

The stunning lines of the Lamborghini Countach fascinated exotic car lovers for decades. It is one of the great car designs of all time. This week, Gullwing Motor Cars of Astoria, New York posted a 1989 Lamborghini Countach, one of the later model Countachs produced. It is a 25th Anniversary Edition, a special Lamborghini design to commemorate its 25 years in production. It is one of only 657 Anniversary cars built and has just 9,265 kilometers (about 5,757 miles) on the odometer. It is black with a tan leather interior. Just spectacular. Some Lamborghini enthusiasts believe this special Anniversary edition is the fastest Countach that Lamborghini produced.

We don't run across these first generation Mustang T-5's very often. But here is one. It is a 1967 Mustang T-5 Fastback which has just been listed for sale at Rock Solid Motorsports in Elkhart, Indiana. When Ford wanted to sell Mustangs in Germany they found out that a German trucking company had already registered the trade name "Mustang." Since they could not buy the naming rights they decided to rename the Mustang as the T-5 for the German market. The Silver Frost exterior paired with the red vinyl interior is factory correct and only 91 Mustangs were originally built with these paint/trim codes. Rock Solid Motorsports did an interesting video relating the story and showing the T-5 in a walk-around tour.

One of the most interesting developments since the re-introuction of the retro late model Ford Thunderbird in 2002 is a body kit inspired by the Sports Roadster package Ford used to put on factory Thunderbirds in the 1960s. The California Customs body kit for the 2002 through 2005 Ford Thunderbird gives it the two-seater look with a tonneau fitted over the back seats. Fast Lane Classic Cars has a Thunderbird Yellow version of the 2002 Ford Thunderbird with a California Custom Kit for sale this week. The kit is stylish with fender skirts that fit so into a special kick panel that runs the length of the car. The ground effects and body kit give the retro Thunderbird a whole new look. The body kit itself costs $5,000+ from California Customs.

With the big Carlisle Spring Auction now only a week away, on April 21-22, 2022, we are seeing a lot of fresh cars appearing in their auction inventory. More muscle cars, more classic 1950's cars, more vintage classics, and more trucks in nice condition are appearing every day. After looking over their inventory you might want to register to bid. There will be a lot of great deals crossing the auction block next week.

Among the fresh listings in the classic motorcar category is this 1923 Nash Sport Touring car. Nash was known for their durable big six cylinder engine back in those days. This Nash is a special sale to raise money for the AACA Museum. This is one you really have to check out. Because it is a special museum sale to raise money for the AACA it might be a special buy. You can call Carlisle to have it insected before the auction next week. They say the car runs well and looks very sharp. Click through to see more photos.

Some impressive new cars were added in the muscle car category, too, this week. The Carlisle Spring Auction will see this 1969 Ford Torino Cobra cross the auction stage next week. They say it has a numbers matching 428CJ big block motor with a 4-speed transmission, power steering and power brakes. You will note that they say it has a really nice, laser straight black body, black bucket seats and a console. On the Marti Report it says it is a 1 of 1 because it has an electric clock. Some of the exotic sports cars coming in will surprise you. You will find this 1997 Dodge Viper GTS in the auction inventory this week for the Carlisle Spring Auction. Not only is it listed as having just 15k actual mlies, but it comes with the special GTS performance package. In Viper Red with white stripes, it has the OEM highly polished wheels. And, of course, that big 8.0L V10 engine was a terror on the track in road courses. It is backed by a 6-speed manual transmission. What do you think it will sell for?

We can't wait for the big Truck Hour on Friday, April 21. It is one of the feature events of the Carlisle Spring Auction, where truck buyers are treated to some of the nicest trucks you can imagine. Many of them have been restored. Here is a 1987 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 which has undergone a recent body-off the frame restoration. The fresh 4X4 has a 6-inch lift and sports 35" tires. Note the headers with dual exhaust and the cool cowl hood. If you are a truck guy, you want to see the quality trucks crossing the auction stage on Friday.

A private party seller from Lakewood, Colorado has had his 1940 Ford Pro Street for sale for quite some time. But now he is really serious about selling. He was asking $68,000 for the nicely built hot rod pro street when he first listed this car. After all, it has a Chevy 454 bbc w/steel crank, tunnel ram two fours and a bunch of chrome goodies. But just this week he dropped his price all the way down to $49,500. Your gain.

The Chevrolet lover within you will like this 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. This one is purely for the fun of driving a big personal luxury car. It is a daily driver, not a show car. But the owner really loved this car and drove it with pride. It is being offered for sale at Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They say the engine compartment is a plus, the interior all in black vinyl and the exterior paint is in need of some TLC. However, they say that from even 10 feet away the car looks great. You should have it inspected to get a more complete picture of what this one is in need of.It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. They asking price is $21,500.

Here is one you'll have to go and inspect yourself because you will have to hurry. It will selll fast. So have the phone in your hand as you read this. The car is a 1956 Pontiac Star Chief that is being sold as part of an estate sale. It is being sold by a private party close to the family. The only description they give is that the car has a non-origiinal 305 ci Chevy V8 motor which they say runs and drives great. They also indicate that the body is solid. We might note that the car looks good in the photos and has a Continental kit. It is a 2-Door hardtop, so it is a very desirable find. But hurry on this one. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. They are asking $14,000.

Buick collectors will love this opportunity. A private party seller from Derby, Connecticut has listed his 1951 Buick Super Riviera for sale. The Riviera name was used by Buick on their Super model in 2-door hardtop special trim. Buying the Riviera version always meant you would get special trim and performance. The seller says the Fireball 263 ci Straight Eight runs like a top, and it comes with the Dynaflow automatic transmission. He says the chrome is really nice, and that it is a "fun reliable coupe that gets lots of compliments." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The price is pretty reasonable. He wants $19,900.

Here is a collectible sports car that is very popular among the millenials. Right now it seems a sure bet to be a "future classic." You don't see them in this kind of condition that often either. This one is the 1983 Datsun 280ZX, the last year of the 280 series. It has the turbo and the T-top roof, so it is the most desirable setup. The private party seller from Canada says it is almost all original. While it would not be a show quality car, he says it is pretty nice with a few cosmetic flaws. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. He is asking $14,500 in Canadian currency. That would be $12,500 in U.S. dollars.

This 1968 Chrysler 300 Convertible stayed in the same family since it was new. Even in its day it was quite unique. In 1968, Chrysler re-styled the 300 with a bolder new front-end that featured hidden headlights. It is being offered for sale at Classic Lady Motorcar in Cornelius, North Carolina. They tell us that while the paint is in average condition, the body is straight and solid, while the trim is in good condition. It has an extra set of fender skirts as well. Check out the photos of the interior. It has the console and bucket seats. It has power windows, power steering, power assisted brakes and a power top. It would be a great car to drive and enjoy while you upgrade. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Wednesday. The asking price is $19,700.

Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York placed an interesting driver quality Mercedes sports car for sale this week. The price point is affordable, and the car is an interesting find. They think it will increase in value as it ages. The 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SL is grey with a red leather interior, it comes with both tops, a convertible soft top and the auxiliary hardtop. They say it starts right up, runs and drives great.  Gullwing is impressed with the panel fitment and door fitment. The Mercedes SL's were famous for their V8 power in a little sports car. And the German made craftsmanship is legendary. They say the smooth shifting automatic transmission is a pleasure to drive. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. The asking price is only $19,500.

Pimento Red was a popular color for the Triumph TR6, the little British sports car that was so popular in the U.S. that every major city seemed to have a Triumph dealer in it. Here is a Pimento Red 1976 Triumph TR6 with a black interior. Presented for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, it comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, dual carburetors, a soft top, steel wheels, beauty rings and a spare tire. They tell us it is very clean and presentable as a weekend cruiser. They claim it to be "mechanically sound" and have dezoens of detailed photos in their ad. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is only $14,750.
