No one can put a finger on what exactly makes the 1967 Corvette L71 427/435 Convertible the one that every Corvette collector salivates over. Some say it is how rare they are. Some say it is the outrageous performance of the monster 427 with the Tripower carbs. And many think that the one-off styling was the best of all time. Whatever the reason, there is no denying that Corvette collectors are in love with the '67 L71 convertible.
This week we may be looking at the best of the best. Today in the Cars-On-Line.com Corvette Section, you’ll find one of the finest examples of a 1967 Corvette L71 427/435 Convertible left in existence. It is the most highly awarded unrestored and original L71 convertible ever to come from the factory with sidepipes. And it comes well documented in Marlboro Maroon finish with a black stinger and black soft top. Wait till you see the high resolution photos in the ad. Just this week it was posted for sale by Verrillo Motor Car Company in New York state.
Completely original and unrestored, this 1967 Corvette L71 427/435 Convertible won the 5 Star Bowtie award at the 2021 NCRS National Convention in Palm Springs, California; the coveted Duntov Mark of Excellence Award in 2019 at the NCRS National Convention in Greenville, South Carolina; a Concourse Gold Certificate at the Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals in 2018; Bloomington Gold OEM as well as the Bloomington Gold Survivor award in 2018 and two NCRS Top Flight awards, also in 2018. The NCRS has validated the original tank sticker. And the 4-speed Corvette is said to have only 33k miles.
With this kind of documentation and provenance, this car could be a record setting sale. This is one of those cars that has been trending up in value this year. So it remains a top line investor car.

We are starting to get a little more feedback now on the 2021 Mustang Mach 1, Ford's newest Mach 1 retro car. It looks like the new Mach 1 replaces the Mustang GT Performance Pack 1, the Bullitt and the GT350. They bill it as the most track ready performance Mustang ever, although because of its excellent handling we think it is aimed at the casual driver. Since only a small selection of cars priced under $100,000 are actually track worthy this one does stand out. It handles the heat like a pro. It is also evident that the new 2021 Mustang Mach 1 was born to be collectible. They have built only 700 Mach 1's for 2021, and it is priced at $83,365. You'll find that the engine and exhaust sound great. Click this link to get a blast of Mach 1, and then watch as it performs in this cool video by Edmunds.com.

Mopar enthusiasts will get excited about this posting. A 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T has been offered for sale by a private party seller from Rushville, Indiana. He says it is original and numbers matching. He says the paint was done and the motor rebuilt 20 years ago. The car still runs great, he says. It was a California car most of its life untill four years ago when it arrived in Indiana. You need to call on this one and get it inspected to determine its condition class. But hurry. This may be the best deal on the internet this week in Mopars. The seller is only asking $49,000 or best offer. Grab the phone now and call him. This one won't last long.
After many years on the car show circuit, this 1949 Lincoln Cosmopolitan Convertible is said to remain in top show car condition. The seller is from Connecticut and tells us he drove it to top national shows, and it still can compete with top cars in its class. Powered by a 337 cubic inch V-8, with a Hydra-Matic transmission, it exudes the sophisticated style for which it was designed. The luxury ride and nostalgic feel are all there. It is finished in the original Lincoln Teal Blue, with rich red leather interior trim that incorporates the color-keyed cut pile and loop carpet. Here is a classic Lincoln that is a great example of Americana, and you can drive and enjoy this one.
Here is a 2002 Camaro ZL1 which was "born to be collectible." It is a perfect example of what we refer to as a "future collectible." So you can buy it now before the price escalates. Remember that in 2002 Chevrolet was going to discontinue the Camaro. Special edition Camaros were produced to commemorate Camaro history. This Supercar was built by Matt Murphy's GMMG, Inc. in conjunction with Chevrolet to celebrate Fred Gibb's historic production of 69 total 1969 Camaro ZL-1 cars. They were ordered and built as B4C Police Cars under the Chevrolet COPO program and then further completed by GMMG, Inc. Ordered from the factory with the Peferred Equipment Group, CMMG gave them the 2002 LS6 GM Performance Parts Corvette motor, Cat Back chambered exhaust, Penske Racing shocks, 1LE suspension, SS hood and spoiler, Z06 front and rear calipers with slotted Z06 rotors, and much more. (Read about it in the ad copy here.) Then they were sold by Berger Chevrolet in Michigan. This amazing piece of automotive history is being offered for sale now at Carolina Muscle Cars.
The big Fall Carlisle Auction is coming up next week, September 30-October 1, 2021. It is part of the famous Fall Carlisle Car Show and Flea Market in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. This is traditionally one of the top car shows in the country. They say there will be 8,100 vendor spaces this year. You can still register to bid in the auction for next week. There will be some real interesting cars to bid on. Here are just a few of the newest consignments.
As always, the Carlisle Auction will draw tons of classic 1950's collector cars to bid on. Here is a highly desirable 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad. The 2-Door wagon is a great example of a mild custom restoration. They say the 327 motor has just 300 miles since everything was rebuilt and restored. It has a 4-speed with Hurst shifter, Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor, ceramic coated headers, 2 and 1/2 inch dual exhaust, and much more. Check out the photos at this link. Look at the Boyd Coddington Junkyard Dog wheels.
Just this week we saw that this incredibly rare 1926 Wills St Clair Roadster has been added to the Fall Carlisle Auction inventory. It has been owned and on display at the AACA Musuem since 2007. What a find for a collector car purist. They say this rare American motorcar was restored in the late 1990's, and was shown at many concours events. Think of how this would look in your collection. You would get respect where ever you showed this amazing piece of automotive history. It is a good example of the quality of classic motorcars you may find at Carlisle.
The "Big Healys" are the two-seater sports cars which are in big demand in the imported sports car market. Powered by its big 3000 6-cylinder engine, here is a 1967 Austin Healy 3000 Mark III BJ8 which will be sold at auction at Carlisle next week. The striking black over red colors make this one very desirable. They say this car is being offered for sale for the first time in over 20 years. In the description it says that the 2+2 red interior is "gorgeous." You'll find more two-seater sports car treasures in the auction inventory.
And, of course, you will find a good number of interesting classic muscle cars for sale at the Fall Carlisle Auction as well. Here is a very rare 1971 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler, one of only 353 ever produced by Mercury. Making it even more important, it was one of only 14 Cyclone Spoilers that came from the factory in Competition Green as seen here. It has the 429 Cobra Jet engine with Ram Air induction. Notice the Magnum 500 wheels. You'll find more great muscle cars to choose from when you become a bidder. Register now. You can bid online.

It will be well worth the effort because there is something so special about this Corvette Pace Car that you will be amazed. Yes, they tell us this Corvette has just 124 actual miles. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line homepage. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the homepage!
Classic Corvettes have long been considered the Gold Standard of the collector car market. So it is unexpected to see a Corvette listed in our DEAL of the DAY feature. But here is one. Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles is offering this 1969 Corvette Convertible for sale this week. The color is factory color code #988 burgundy with a black interior. The vehicle comes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, 350 V8 engine, side mount exhaust system, wood steering wheel, power steering, soft top, chrome bumpers, and 4-wheel disc brakes. They say it is "mechanically sound." You would not expect a desirable collector car like this to turn up in our "bargain selections" so make sure you have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! This one won't last long. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $36,500.
Classic Ford Fairlanes from the 1950's were very desirable back in the day. If this one looks a little unique it is because it is a Ford 4-door hardtop version. The pillarless 1956 Ford Fairlane Victoria had that cool chromed "V" design along the front doors. This car was owned by the same proud owner for 30 years. Health issues kept it in storage for about five years. It was purchased and updated to drive quality. Now it is available to drive the way it is or restore to its factory original condition. It is currently a "Love Me Tender" reminder of a bygone era that can only be recaptured when sitting in a classic Ford Fairlane Vicoria. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is only $18,900.
It looks like Beverly Hills Car Club is having a "discount week" there in Los Angeles. They listed another great buy, a 1955 Buick 50 Super, for a great price. It is a 2-door post car which they describe as a "weekend cruiser" that remains "mechanically sound." It has a V8 motor and an automatic transmission. And it has power options as a Buick should. You'll find it has power windows, power steering, white line tires, steel wheels and Buick hub caps. But the best part of this post is the price. Beverly Hills Car Club is making a name for themselves this week with some great price offerings. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is only $16,750.
Another Corvette in the DEAL of the DAY feature? This is truly an unsual week. Here is a 1971 Corvette for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. And this one has T-tops. It looks great in the pictures, doesn't it? You can even watch a walk-around video of this one complements of Motorcar Studio. They say it was professionally repainted a few years ago under present ownership in the original color of Bridgehampton Blue. 270 hp 350 ci V8, this is a well-optioned car with automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering wheel, air conditioning and leather seat upholstery. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. The asking price is only $26,900.
At first we thought the price was a misprint when we read this Beverly Hills Car Club ad. They had this 2004 Porsche 911 4S Cabriolet listed for just $26,500. Then we realized that was actually the price they were asking on this highly desirable precision made German sports car. What a find! Hurry and grab the phone. This one may not last the day! The C4S comes with a clean Carfax and is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission, Flat 6 Cylinder 3.6-liter engine, automatic speed control, power mirrors, air conditioning, heated seats, power windows, power steering, power seats, power soft top, and more. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. But it won't last that long.
Looking for a classic muscle car on a low budget? Here is one you might want to consider. It is a 1973 Mustang Mach 1 which is being offered for sale by a private party seller in Toms River, New Jersey. The seller says it has just 36k miles on it. Considered a Sports Roof, or "fastback", it really take a good picture. See more photos on the ad page. You'll note that it comes with a 302 V8 motor with a 4-barrel carb. It also was equipped with a sunroof. It has been updated with a mild cam, solid lifters, electronic automatic transmission, and Flowmaster exhaust with headers. The interior has also been updated. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is $18,900.
As kind-of a distant cousin to the Buick Grand National, Chevrolet came out with their Monte Carlo SS that same year. It may not get the same amount of praise as the Grand National, but it is a magnificent full size sports car in its own right. Here is a 1984 Chevy Monte Carlo SS being offered for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip, Illinois. A special "Aero" nose, front air dam, and rear spoiler were developed to make it desirable for NASCAR racing. And a new legend was born. This one has had one owner since new and still shows only 41k miles. The wind tunnel styling and low profile side view are iconic now. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. You can own it for just $18,900.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
