Chrysler knew it had to make a statement in the Pony car wars of the late 1960's. So they came up with the 1969 Plymouth Cuda A57 with the 383 Performance Package. This car was far more than just a big block stuck in a Pony car package. The whole drivetrain and suspension was reinvented for 1969. It might be the best kept secret in the Mopar world. This early Cuda is still affordably priced.
This week a very rare 1969 Plymouth Cuda A57 383 was listed for sale by a private party seller in Errol, New Hampshire. He tells us he was one of the original mechanics who worked on this car back in the day when he worked for Foss Motors Chrysler Plymouth in Exeter, New Hampshire. The original owner was a local man who drove it for a few years and then parked it in storage with 25,000 miles on the odometer. The current owner bought it in 2000. He has taken it to car shows and enters it as an original "survivor." It may be the most original example of a Cuda A57 in existence. And it is one of the only ones that came from the factory with a vinyl roof.
“We have every piece of paperwork that came with the Cuda when it left the dealership,” the current owner tells us, “including the temporary registration and last inspection sticker, window sticker, build sheet, etc.”
To read the whole story on the Plymouth Cuda A57's you might want to find the article on this car in the MyDreamCar.online blog this week. There are more statistics and information on why the Cuda 383's were so important to the development of the E-Body Cudas which came along in 1970.

The internet is all about Top Ten lists these days. We spotted a news article about the "Top Ten Classic Cars to Buy Now" on a news service called WIRED. They did a nice job, but the cars were all in the six and seven figure category. So we thought it might be fun to create our own Top Ten list of classic cars to buy in today's market. Only our list is made up of cars you can still afford to buy now.
Number one on our list this year has to be the 1970 Chevelle Super Sport. These cars are going up in value because of recent high profile auctions this year (such as the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale.) Next on the list is the 1967-69 Pontiac Firebird Convertible. We feel they are under-appreciated in this market. Then comes the 1969-70 Ford Mustang Mach 1. This is the best bet to appreciate in value because Mach 1's have been largely overlooked by collectors for years.
The 1969-71 Buick Skylark Gran Sports and 1968-71 Oldsmobile 442's are going to appreciate in value for many years. They are playing catchup because they have not benefitted by the runup in values in the past decades as have the Pontiac GTO's.
That is just a taste of what is on our Top Ten Classic Cars to Buy Now list. For the whole review follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog page. There will be a few surprises on this list.
We hope you had a chance to watch some of the Fall Auburn Auction with us this past weekend. Our Facebook fans were treated to an afternoon filled with great collector cars and the electric atmosphere of the live auction in Auburn during the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Festival in Auburn, Indiana. The best part of any auction is seeing what these great collector cars sell for. This 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible, for instance, sold for $152,000 at the hammer (plus sales commission.) Click here to review our Fall Auburn Auction report and see what the top cars sold for. RM Auctions told us they sold over $15 million dollars worth of old iron last weekend. There were so many classic cars from the 1950's, it was like heaven.

A private party seller from Blaine, Washington is offering his 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible for sale this week. The thing that is spectacular about this car is that he says it has all original body panels with no rust. And after all these years this GTO still stands as a testament to the American muscle car culture. He says the motor is "period correct" so we assume it is not the original motor, but the car does come with "full Pontiac documentation," his words. He notes that it has rare factory original options such as tilt steering, wood grain steering wheel, power top, tinted glass, bucket seats and console, dual exhaust with splitters, posi rear differential, red line tires and spinner hub caps. If you like your muscle cars original, you have to check this one out.
In following the collector car hobby the past 40 years we know that the Fall Carlisle Collector Car Flea Market, Car Corral and Auction is one of the most “talked about” events in America. This week we are previewing some of the cars they have lined up for this year's Fall Carlisle Auction, Sept 30-Oct 1, 2021.
Here is a good example of the type of muscle car you go to the Fall Carlisle Auction to find. This 1970 Ford Torino was the personal car owned by Bill Shenk, the designer of the Torino at Ford Motor Company. It comes fully documented from Day 1. The sale will include one of Bill's personal sketch books. They say the car is in pristine condition, and still runs and drives as new. This historically significant find comes with its 351 ci V8 motor, an automatic transmission and lots of options.
Hot rods are as much a part of the American culture as hot dogs and apple pie. Here is a great period correct 1929 Ford Highboy Roadster. It is a prime example of what is often referred to as an "old school hot rod." What we have here is an all steel body built on a custom 1932 frame with a Hallock V windshield and hand pin-striping. It is considered a traditional style build with 1947 Ford 59A Flathead V8 engine, aluminum Navarro heads and dual carburetor intake. It is the perfect "old school" ride.
There were some eccentric cars back in the 1950's. Today we seldom see a sedan model like this 1955 Studebaker President. It is a great example of a collector car which was restored to drive. They tell us it runs well. Studebaker revived the President model lineup in 1955 after not using the nameplate since 1942. This sedan body style was the most popular with 14,634 sold that year. Studebaker used two tone paint and bright colors to market their new lineup.
Already in 2021 we have seen breakout price increases on many collectible muscle cars. Here is one that is about to break out yet this year. This 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 is undervalued in the collector car market right now. But you can see the prices are beginning to edge up, especially on fresh restorations. Don't miss your chance to own this red Sport Roof model. They say it is numbers matching with an upgraded 4-speed. It has benefitted from a "high end" restoration. One of the photos shows the odometer at 48k miles.

In their recent ad video, Unique Specialty & Classics in Mankato, Minnesota, does a nice job of describing the condition of their 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Sedan. You will learn a lot about the car from the video. They really like the Teal over Dark Green paint color. The car was done in 2009. Get more info about the motor, suspension and how the car has been dropped. It is a very mild custom with the 235 ci 6 under the hood. Click the video window above to review their entire inspection video.

This may be the best deal in the newsletter this week. A 1968 Dodge Dart GTS is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Houston, Texas. According to the ad, it had been on jack stands for 27 years. So there are items that need to be addressed to bring it back to show condition. But it would be worth the effort. A great find for the right mechanic.
The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:
1957 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham, Unique Specialty & Classics, MN
1941 Ford 1/2-Ton Pickup, Fall Carlisle Auction, PA

Remember the big 1942 Chevrolet 506G Monster Truck named "Frankie" (short for Frankenstein)? The private party seller from Missoula, Montana just dropped the price on this spectacular build. He was askiing $250,000 when it was first advertised. But just this week he lowered the price to $149,000. That's a reduction of over $100,000. Now that's what we're talkin' about.

A sharp looking 1970 Chevy Nova was listed for sale by Streetside Classics in Ft Worth, Texas this week. It is a nice Super Sport 396 tribute. Only this version has the big block 402 ci V8 which came out in 1970 to replace the traditional 396 big block Chevy. It has a 4-speed and front disc brakes. Note the 396 emblems on the front quarter. The photos of the undercarriage are spectacular.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line homepage. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the homepage!
Here is a good opportunity to acquire a popular muscle car at an affordable price. This 1968 Ford Torino GT390 Fastback is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Claremore, Oklahoma. The Nugget Gold color and that fact that it is a 4-speed really increases the desirability. It comes with a new 600 Holley, with an aluminum radiator, power brakes all replaced, all power steering rebuilt, air conditioned, interior all redone, new front floor pans, replaced fuel tank and all brake and fuel lines done. Find out more when you contact the seller. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $27,000.
A nice looking 1939 Ford Tudor Sedan Deluxe is being offered for sale by a private party seller from Denton, Maryland. This one really presents well in the photos. It underwent a frame-off nut and bolt restoration with no expense spared approximately 20 years ago. It has received an AACA 1st Place award. The seller says it has "mirror finish" paint and needs nothing. If you are looking for a teardrop Ford that is show ready you should look into this one. It was only driven to shows and was stored in a museum for so many years. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Don't miss out on this one. The asking price is $28,500.
Want a muscle car you can take to your local cruise nights? Here is your ticket. It is a 1966 Dodge Coronet 500 being offered for sale by Classic Car Deals, an internet broker selling it for a private client. The car is in Florida. They say it is powered by its original numbers matching V8 big block motor and a 727 Torqueflite transmission. It has original air conditioning from the factory. They also indicate that it has been a Texas car all its life. They say it runs and drives well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is only $26,995.
Remember when they stopped making the Chevrolet Camaro in 2002? This 2002 Camaro Z28 was to be the last year car, and they are still very collectible today. It was not until 2010 that the retro version of the Camaro was reintroduced. This 2002 is what we refer to as a "future classic" because it is not quite old enough to be a classic, but is collectible in some circles. This one comes with new paint, new tires, new brakes, a new water pump, hoses and belts. The transmission and differential have been gone through and serviced. Even the power window motors are said to have been replaced. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. The asking price is only $10,500. What a great way to get into collecting!
The Kaiser Jeepster Commando was first introduced by Kaiser in 1966 to compete with the International Scout. It was a Sport Utility vehicle way before anyone ever thought of the term "SUV." This 1970 Jeepster Commando is being offered for sale by private party seller in New Lisbon, Wisconsin. He tells us that the 4-wheel truck was originally from California and remains in nice dry condition. He says it runs and drives well. These Kaiser Jeepsters came with a Kaiser V6 motor. During the 1970 production year, Kaiser sold Jeep to American Motors. This historically significant truck will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. The asking price is $17,500. (Remember that these vehicles are offered for sale by private sellers and have not been inspected. You should always have a classic vehicle inspected before you buy to avoid disappointments.)
Imported sports cars are an acquired taste. Riding in an open air car with the wind rustling through your hair and everyone seeing you having the time of your life ... those are precious moments. It is why people buy cars such as this 1956 MGA Roadster. It is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. The Orient Red sports car comes with a manual transmission, dual carburetors, soft top frame, rear luggage rack, side curtains, and wire wheels. Beverly HIlls Car Club specializes in finding cars that have been forgotten in storage for years. So it would be a good idea to have this one inspected before you buy. But hurry! They are only asking $16,750. It will not last long at that price.
Maybe its not perfect, but it is a Prefect. This 1958 Ford Prefect is a simple, economical British made Ford. You won't find another like it in this kind of condition. It is being offered for sale through the Classic Auto Mall in Morgantown, Pennsylvania. They have the largest selection of unique classic cars in the U.S. The right-hand-drive British 4-door was simple transportation for the common man. A forward tilt of the bonnet and you see a well-preserved 71.5 ci 4-cylinder hooked up to a 3-speed manual transmission. They say it is a fun car which fires right up and has a very British feel to it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. Their asking price is $13,000.
