Chrysler wanted to run the vaunted 426 Hemi in NASCAR competition, but NASCAR wasn't having it. Unfair to the competition, they said. So Chrysler had to invent the 426 Street Hemi so it could "mass produce" the engine in their new car lineup. That's what happened in 1966 when this Dodge Hemi Coronet 500 first came out. They tell us it still looks as original today as it did back in the day.
Carrol Street Auto, a classic car dealer in Manchester, New Hampshire, just listed this incredibly rare 1966 Dodge Hemi Coronet 500 2-Door Hardtop in the Cars-On-Line Mopar Muscle Car Section. Carrol Street Auto notes the “arrow straight and original” body panels. It was ordered with the 426 Hemi engine and a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission with the console shift. It came with original power steering, 3.23 Sure Grip differential, remote left side view mirror, undercoating, tinted glass, AM radio with rear speaker and a 3-spoke “Sport” steering wheel.
The rare Hemi Coronet was decoded by Mopar historian Galen Govier. You can see photos of the broadcast sheets in the ad photos. They tell us the big 426 Hemi engine idles and moves smoothly in street traffic. But step into it and it bellows and snorts its approval, pinning you back into the seat. They say it handles and brakes well. You can tell it is a well cared-for classic muscle car.
To get more history and background on this interesting original Hemi Coronet you might want to read the MyDreamCar.online blog this week. There are more statistics and information on original Hemi cars. You can even tell us about your Hemi Mopar stories in the comment box at the bottom of the page. We love to hear your stories.

Pretty much everybody in the collector car hobby is aware of how Chevelle Super Sport muscle cars have increased in value this year. A black 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 hardtop sold for $250,000 at a GAA Classic Auction this summer (here is a link to the story.) But have you seen what classic Corvette resto mods have been doing this year? They are pretty much becoming untouchable in this market. The 1958 Corvette Resto Mod you see here sold for $190,000 at the hammer at the same GAA Classic Auction this summer. Check out our Corvette Section this week to see how this is effecting the "real world" of Corvette collecting. And we are seeing a greater appreciation for classic 1950's Cadillac convertibles as well.
Our newsletter readers know how much we like it when our advertisers tell us about their SOLD's. This week Doug from Squaw Lake, Minnesota let us know he SOLD his 1963 Plymouth Savoy Drag Car through a Cars-On-Line Run Till Sold ad. The car had a 500 stroker with only 4 passes on the it. "Love your service," he told us. "This is the third car I have sold using Cars On Line!" So Doug knows why we always say... "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Click this link to view a list of the cars and trucks SOLD this week on Cars-On-Line.com. You will be amazed.

Here is a spectacular find now being offered for sale at Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York. Feast your eyes on this uber rare 1952 Bentley R Type Continental Fastback, one of only 26 A chassis examples ever built. They say it was built in May of 1952 after which it was transported over to H.J. Mulliner for its current fastback coachwork. Read through the history of ownership in the ad copy. A comprehensive recommissioning was done in the 1990's. They say it still retains its matching-numbers 4.5-litre engine, and original H.J. Mulliner body tag. It is known to be the first left-hand-drive Bentley Continental built in 1952. A very historic car it was special ordered, and remains unique among collectible Bentleys.
The 2001 BMW Z8 was born to be collectible. It was a design and styling exersize to pay tribute to the 1950's classic BMW 507, a famous BMW collector car. The note Henry Fisker was tasked by BMW to render the design of the Z8. It was BMW's first attempt at building an aluminum space-frame structure car using advanced techniques. The resultant Z8 achieved 0-60 mph acceleration in just 4.2 seconds with an electronically-limited 155 mph top end. You may remember when Pierce Brosnan drove a Z8 in the 1999 movie The World is Not Enough. They say only 2,543 Z8's were produced for the U.S. market between 2000 and 2003.
Every once in a while you might see one of these new 2021 Toyota GR Supra luxury sports cars on the road. They are still very rare because they just came out in the summer of 2021. Perillo Pre-Owned Center in Downers Grove, Illinois is known for their exotic sports cars. This one just came up in their inventory this week. Wait till you see what is under the hood. The new GR Supra's increased output is due to several upgrades to the engine and a new dual-branch exhaust manifold, with six ports instead of two, improving airflow and heat management. And the sound is breathtaking. You have got to test drive this one.
In this video Coyote Classics gives us a real detailed description of a 1969 Chevelle Malibu that has SS trim and a healthy 350 motor. Listen to the car in the video and watch as Chad and Jeremy tell us about the classic Malibu. The dual exhaust sings a nice note, and the car shows laser straight in the video. The video proves you can do a virtual inspection just using a well done video. Now this is the way to advertise a car.

"Is that you, Eleanor?" In the words of Nichoas Cage when he met the 1967 Shelby GT500 restomod in the movie Gone in 60 Seconds, this could be an Eleanor styled Shelby look-a-like. It has the professional-grade and quality-built Maier Racing kit installed and they say it is not far from being ready for paint. Inspect it for yourself. Check the body lines and fitment. This could be the project that you have been looking for.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line homepage. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the homepage!
Mopar enthusiasts from the mid-1960's know the importance of this 1967 Dodge Coronet 440. In drag racing circles these cars were revered. This one comes with all that history, and comes with a rebuilt 440 ci V8 engine with Stage 5 cast iron heads, Holley Street Dominator aluninum intae manifold, new Holley Quick Fuel 4-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition, new aluninum radiator, new 727 TCI Streetfighter transmission with manual shift reverse valve boy. It even has a new Cheetah shifter and a 391 posi rear end. Man, this car is ready. Haggle Me, an internet broker for classic cars, is selling this custom built race car for their client. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $16,500.
Remember how big and roomy the Packard motorcars were in 1949? Here is a 1949 Packard Super Deluxe Eight Club Sedan, a reminder of how much luxurious roomy comfort that even the back seat passengers enjoyed in those days. This luxury car is being offered for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip, Illinois this week. The odometer shows only 21k miles, which is believed to be original. From the egg-crate grille to the bullet-type bumper guards and pelican hood ornament this Packard motorcar is a classic piece of automotive history. They say it is a true survivor, and tell us that even the original paint still takes a nice shine. They describe the interior as being "gorgeous." They do note some spider cracking in the paint on the hood. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. They are only asking $18,900 on this one. That is a great way to get into the collector car hobby.
An Ember Red 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible appeared in our new listings this week. In spite of Ralph Nader's rant on their safety, these classic Corvairs still thrive. This one is being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It not only has th Ember Red exterior, but also has a matching red interior, a unique combination. It comes equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, soft top, parade boot, steel wheels and white line tires with Corvair hubcaps. They say it is "an excellent original black plate California car that is mechanically sound." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is $12,750.
Another great collector car find comes from Haggle Me, a classic car broker selling it for one of their clients. They just listed this 1964 Studebaker GT Hawk for sale. They tell us it is just out of a 20+ years in storage. Fitted with new brakes, tires, battery and a new water pump, they say it is ready for weekend driving. "This is an awesome running and driving Studebaker," they said in their ad copy. It comes with a factory 289 V8 engine with factory 4-speed manual transmission and shows 57,000 original miles. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday. Their asking price is only $14,900.
A 1997 Porsche Boxster was just listed by Showdown Auto in Clinton Township, Michigan. Unlike other low priced sports cars, the Boxster is a well designed and engineered German sports car that becomes a great "future collector car." In fact, every Porsche was born to be collectible. They say this one only has 38,500 miles on it. It has a power convertible top, factory AM/FM/CD player, heated leather seats, 17" factory aluminum wheels and four-wheel disc brakes. They say it is a "great low-mile Porsche only used in summer months and always garage kept. Runs and drives great." They note a few minor scratches in the ad copy. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $14,900.
For charm and elegance you can't beat this 1974 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow being offered for sale out of Gullwing Motor Cars in New York. This is a highly desirable "chrome bumper" model and they say it is a very original example. Silver with grey Connolly leather, it comes with a black carriage top. They say there are 95,000 miles showing on the odometer. They tell us it starts right up and runs and drives well. It remains a very straight and solid car with good panel fitment and door gaps. They ad that it is a strong driver with no smoiing or odd noises. It should be noted that this is a right hand drive version. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is $14,750. That is a lot of car for the money.
Late next week this 1955 Ford Thunderbird will be our DEAL of the DAY. It is another bargain priced collector car being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It is available in its factory color code #A Raven Black with a black interior. The Ford comes equipped with an automatic transmission, power windows, power steering, and American Racing wheels. This vehicle has had the same owner since 1991 and is mechanically sound. It is almost unheard of to find these classic first generation T-Birds for sale at under $20,000. But here is one. It will be our DEAL of the DAY with a discounted price set at $19,950. Hurry! This one won't last long.

Here are some of the comments from happy sellers who were nice enough to tell us about their experience advertising on the Cars On Line website.
"Great website. SOLD quick," said James from Rushville, Indiana after marking his 1970 Dodge Challenger RT SOLD less than a week after placing the ad.
"Love your service. This is the third car I have sold using Cars On Line!" Sounds like Doug has success listing vehicles and selling them on Cars On Line.com. He used our $45.00 run until sold ad and sent his 1963 Plymouth Savoy to a new home.
