In an era when the Stutz motorcar was considered America's fastest racing champion, the Stutz Black Hawk Speedster actually outperformed the legendary Stutz Bearcat. By the time this 1928 Stutz Model BB Boattail Speedster was produced at the Indiana plant, it had made its mark as a racing phenomenon. Lighter and lower than the Bearcat, the Model BB Boattail was often referred to as the Black Hawk. The Black Hawk Speedster was the AAA Stock Car Champion in 1927. A 1928 version of the Speedster came in second place at the 24 Hours of Lemans.
It is with such respect for the marque that the Classic Auto Mall of Morgantown, Pennsylvania listed a 1928 Stutz BB Boattail Speedster for sale this week in our Classic Car Section. Readers will enjoy their short history of the Stutz Black Hawk Speedster on their ad page. They credit the design of the Speedster to legendary designer Gordon Buehrig, who later worked at Cord.
They say the Boattail Speedster was completely restored in 2011 by Lee Duran. It gets power from the a 298.64 ci Inline 8-cylinder with a single overhead cam. The car uses leaf spring suspension all around, as well as drum brakes which are Lockheed hydraulic. The Stutz Black Hawks all used a Safety Chassis design in which a worm gear rear drive spins the back tires.
The vintage Speedster runs and drives as you would expect a motorcar of this era. It surely draws attention when you drive it down the street. It is an extraordinary find for any collector.

This weekend we are at the Iola Car Show and Swap Meet, July 8-10, 2021, in Iola, Wisconsin. Don't miss our coverage on the ClassiCarNews blog page. It is the biggest swap meet you will ever see. The show grounds cover over 300 acres. They have 4,200 swap spaces and expect more than 2,200 show cars. This is where Midwesterners go to get their old car parts. You can follow our coverage of the show all weekend.
But this is not the only show in the country this weekend. Find more great events on our Cars-On-Line Car Show Calendar. Don't forget to bookmark the calendar to plan your upcoming weekend outings.
You know how much we like it here at the Cars-On-Line office when our advertisers tell us their stories on how they SOLD Thru COL. This is a good example.
"Cars On Line SOLD both of my rods," a Utah advertiser told us. "A 1928 Ford Model A and a 1955 Chevy 150 Gasser in less than 2 weeks. What a great site to sell and buy cars!"
Now he knows why we always say... "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Click this link to view a list of the cars and trucks that SOLD this week on Cars-On-Line.com. You will be amazed.

There is only one car that Pontiac collectors might treasure more than a GTO, and that's a 1966 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 Convertible with the 421 ci V8 and a tripower. The Last Detail in North Chicago, Illinois has a black one for sale this week. Wow, we don't see these very often. Click through to view dozens of high resolution photos on their ad page. They say it has undergone "a meticulous restoration to show quality" condition. It has the true "WJ" code 421 ci motor producing 376 horsepower. It has a 4-speed manual transmission and Hurst 5-spoke wheels. Featuring the performance“Wide Track” chassis design and aggressive styling, the Catalina 2+2 was a separate Pontiac series for 1966. The 2+2 package includes heavy-duty suspension, bucket seats, a Sports Custom steering wheel and vent-like rear fender trim.
They say the 1958 Buicks had the most chrome of any American made car. When you look at that intricate Dynastar grille you can see why. Since 1958 was legendary Design Chief Harley Earl's last year at GM, his Buick's underwent complete redesigns from head to tail. They say this 1958 Buick Special Convertible received a full restoration in 2007, and has been in a private collection ever since. It was fully optioned from the factory and comes with its 364 ci Buick V8 engine, Dynaflow automatic transmission and a power convertible top. The colors are Seminole Red over White tutone. Take a look at the photos of the interior on the ad page. This car is stunning to look at. It represents the 1950's era well.
Did you know that the 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express pickup truck was the fastest factory production vehicle built that year? The factory smoke stacks gave it an unmistakable look, but the truly remarkable thing about the '78 edition was that no other factory built vehicle could beat its zero to 60 time that year. Faster than a Corvette? Yes. That's because of a loophole in the emissions laws for that year which allowed the Lil Red Express to be produced without a catalytic converter. It had the 360 Police Interceptor version V8 rated at 225 horsepower. Check out the wood bed and wood bedside trim. These trucks were born to be collectible. This one is said to have just 45k miles. It is for sale by a private party seller out of Georgia.
We are eagerly anticipating the upcoming GAA Classic Auction in Greensboro, North Carolina later this month. Get ready for this one. It will be held July 22-24, 2021. Even if you can't make it to the auction, you can bid online. We are really impressed at how many vehicles will be offered at No Reserve. They anticipate over 650 classic and specialty vehicles will be for sale. Cars-On-Line readers will have the opportunity to stream the auction "Live" as the cars cross the block. Stay tuned to our newsletter for more information.
The GAA Classic Summer Auction will have some interesting classic 1950's vehicles crossing the auction block. Just this week they posted that this 1957 Oldsmobile Fiesta Wagon will be sold at No Reserve. The Olds Fiesta Wagon is the cousin of the famous Buick Caballero Wagon, which was noted for its long low profile and interesting "no post" roof support. These are so rare that they are favored by car collectors in the know. This one is said to be very original with what they suspect is original paint. They will have more info on this one at the ad link in the coming weeks. Watch for it.
Among the large selection of classic muscle cars in this year's 2021 GAA Classic Summer Auction is a beautiful 1972 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible in a very rare color. This is Code 36 Radiant Green. It comes with the U Code Ram Air 455 ci V8, automatic transmission with His & Hers shifters, tach, sport steering wheel, bucket seats and a console. It also has air conditioning. They say it has undergone a significant, ground up restoration, and comes with a build sheet. It will be offered at No Reserve on Friday at the auction. We think it will be one of the surprise sales of the auction.
We counted quite a few late model Porsche sports cars for sale in the GAA Classic Summer Auction inventory today. This 2013 Porsche 911 Carrera S will be sold at No Reserve. You can bet the bidding will be furious on this one. This car is part of the George Shinn Collection, one of a few featured collections being liquidated at the GAA auction. The Antracite Brown metallic Porsche comes with a 7-speed manual transmission and 20" Carrera Classic wheels. It has under 6k miles. People look at you differently when you drive a Porsche. You'll find out when your bid wins this sale.
You know how hot these jacked off road vehicles are in this market. Here is a 2004 Skyjacked Jeep Wrangler with all the custom and performance features you could want in an off road vehicle. It will be offered for sale at No Reserve on Thursday at the GAA Classic Summer Sale.
This is what a video ad is so good at. Just look at the clean, crisp lines of this 1968 Dodge Coronet R/T in the video. Southern Motors in Clarkston, Michigan really did a great job on this walk-around video tour of this car. They say it a true WS Code R/T with a numbers matching 440 big block motor. The Medium Blue metallic paint looks so good in the video.

Rarely will you find a popular midsized car like this 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix Model J with such low miles. Here is one that was just listed for sale by Daniel Schmitt & Co in their St Louis collection. They tell us it still only has 9,522 actual miles after 50 years. (Hard to believe it is 50 years already, isn't it?) They say it virtually looks and shows as new. What a find! This is the way a collector wants to invest.
The following are more recently listed Low Miles cars:
1983 Datsun 280ZX, Daniel Schmitt & Co, MO, 16k actual miles

Here is an easy car for a light restoration. The private seller from Acton, California says his 1957 Corvette just needs paint. He says the paint shows some cracking, and there are a few other mechanical things to attend to also. A "barn find," he says the car was in storage for 40 years. But he says the body and interior are in real nice shape. This one would be worth looking into. Maybe have it inspected.
The following are just some of the cars available in the Project Car Section this week:

Remember when this 1934 Ford Vicky Highboy was featured here in the newsletter? The seller from Bandera, Texas said it was "superbly built" with top equipment. You can see from the photos what a quality build it was. When he originally listed the Highboy the owner was asking $57,000. But just this week he asked us to reduce the price to $45,500. Doesn't that seem awfully cheap to you?

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line homepage. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the homepage!
Newsletter readers are in for a treat this week. Here is a 1950 Buick Special Model 41D Sedan which is being offered at a very special price by a private party seller from Dexter, Missouri. Interestingly, it has just 69,300 miles. Take a look at the photos. It has the Buick 248 ci Straight Eight engine and a 3-speed manual transmission. What a great classic car to own. This one seems worth checking out. You should have a pre-purchase inspection done to find out what condition class it falls in. But hurry! We don't think this one will last the weekend at this price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $17,000.
Here is one we did not even know existed! Did you know that MG made a Tourer in 1950? They called it the 1950 MG YT Tourer. Produced by MG in England from 1947 through 1953, the YT came in both a 4-door saloon and in a very limited production two-door touring car version. Only 904 of the touring cars were produced in those seven years of production. They were designed before WWII but had to wait till the war was over to begin production. It was the first MG to have an independent front suspension, quite advanced for its time. This one is being offered for sale this week at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. It is a very important find, and will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $26,500.
Few European sports cars are known to be really dependable drivers. But here is one that has a good reputation. The 1979 Fiat Spider 2000 has been listed for sale by Classic Auto Showplace in Troy, Michigan. They say it still has just 31k original miles. By 1979, the Pinninfarina designed Fiat Spider 2000 was equipped with a 2.0 liter DOHC inline 4 cylinder engine and a 5-speed manual transmission. It is a fun sports car with some actual performance features. This one would be a good car to have inspected before you buy. But hurry! They say it is a good one. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the advertised price is only $14,700.
The Imperial was Chrysler's expensive luxury car competing with the Lincoln and Cadillac. Here is a 1965 Chrysler Imperial just listed through Laguna Classic Cars in Laguna Beach, California. They say it is in extremely nice original condition. "Well cared for" and "pampered" are the words they use to describe this beautiful town car. They say the paint is the original color, the body gaps excellent, the interior exceptional and the chrome has great luster. The under-carriage is "immaculate and rust free." Of course, it has the 413 ci V8 motor, 3-speed automatic transmission and power options. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. The asking price is $14,500.
One of the hot areas of our website is the Off Road and 4X4 section. Here is a 1983 Chevy K30 Dually 4X4 with high performance upgrades that you just don't see on every truck. It has dual exhaust with long tube headers, serpentine belt drive, aluminum radiator with dual fans, big 454 motor, 4-speed manual transmission and more. These big duallies are meant for pulling power, but this one has been enhanced with performance equipment too boot. It has been listed for sale by Classic Car Liquidators in Sherman, Texas. It is such an unusual vehicle it would be a good idea to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY by midweek. Their asking price is $16,999.
When Porsche came out with the idea of a lower priced sports car to complement their 911 models, the idea of the Boxster was born. Fortunately, they did not scrimp on quality in the Boxster. It is truly a well made German sports car. This 1999 Porsche Boxster has been listed for sale by P.J.'s Auto World in Clearwater, Florida. They say it has only 77,538 miles with the 2.5L 6 cylinder motor and automatic transmission. It is Guards Red with a black canvas convertible top. It has 18" factory alloy wheels and 4-wheel disc brakes. Can this be the summer roadster you have been waiting for? One, thing is for sure. It won't cost you very much. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week if it lasts that long. The asking price is $15,900.
Here is another modern styled droptop at a very affordable price. Streetside Classics in Phoenix, Arizona is offering this 2002 Audi TT Quattro for sale. With a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, 6-speed manual transmission and all-wheel-drive, you know it packs the performance. And its an Audi so you get the dependable German engineering with only 50k mles advertised (they say it is believed to be actual miles.) Streetside has done a short video so you can see it and hear it run. Click here to view the video. It comes with flared fenders, bright dual exhaust tips, a hint of spoiler, sporty 17-inch alloys, and a sleekly rounded style. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $16,995.
