Which classic muscle car would beat you every time at the dragstrip? Was it a Hemi powered Mopar or the Chevy Chevelle with the LS6 454 monster big block? It is not our purpose to ascertain the answer here. We endeaver only to present the credentials which the monster of the midway, the 450 horsepower Chevelle, brings to the argument. Our readers, though, might be enlightened by a discussion we found on the Dodge Forum on the subject. Click here to find out what Mopar enthusiasts had to say. You might be impressed with their respect for the Chevelle SS LS6 454 muscle car.
The reason for the question is because a very rare 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454 Hardtop was listed for sale this week by Verrillo Motor Car Company in Clifton Park, New York. What makes this one stand out is the color combination. It came from the factory with Shadow Gray paint, but also has a red interior. Along with the black Super Sport stripes along the cowl hood and decklid, the look and stance on this car get it noticed, especially among Chevelle enthusiasts. They say it is numbers matching and comes with an M22 Muncie manual transmission, the one they call the Rock Crusher 4-speed. The look and stance on this car really set it apart from all the Cranberry Red Chevelles out there.
Does this Chevelle big block muscle car call you back to a time when the lopey cackle of the 454 open port big block ruled the streets? Then you will want to read our full history on this Shadow Gray LS6 on our MyDreamCar.online blog page. Find out how many were produced and see a short history on the LS6 Chevelle. Then tell us about your LS6 memories in the comments section below the story. We love to know your thoughts on the subject.

Linked above are the New Listings and Price Changes pages. These pages are updated regularly to include every addition to the Cars On Line.com Collector Car Market.
Won't it be great to put a cork in 2020 and look forward to the 2021 New Year? When you think of how much promise 2020 had for the collector car market last January. The Barrett-Jackson Auction started out so great in 2020. If it were not for the pandemic we think the collector car market was about ready to explode higher. So, we have that to look forward to yet in 2021. It will be worth the wait to see the market get hot again. All the parts are in place to see this year's collector car market soar. December was a great month. We saw many of the top priced cars on our website get SOLD labels during December. That is a good sign. Happy New Year everybody. Let's get the party started.
Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com was doing a year-end wrap-up on the collector car market for 2020. What he found out about collector car prices during the COVID-19 pandemic may surprise you. By the time collector car auctions began in-person bidding again, around August of 2020, prices were on the rise. He did a small sampling of collector car values comparing average prices in 2019 with prices he witnessed by the end of 2020. Here is the published report as seen on eClassicAutos.com this week. That is probably why we saw so many top level cars selling in December. For instance, prices on first generation Shelby GT350 muscle cars are up 22 percent over what you would have paid in 2019. It looks like this 1966 Shelby GT350 currenty being advertised for sale on Cars-On-Line.com may be a bargain. The private seller from Santa Cruz, California has it priced way under the money. Forget the Barrett-Jackson Auction. Here is a top quality find right now for way less than they go for at the big name auctions.
You know we love it when our advertisers tell us about their SOLDs. Our newsletter readers will remember this Camaro Pro Street project from last week's newsletter. "This is the second time we've used cars-on-line to sell a vehicle and have had great results both times. It's a great resource for reaching out of state buyers," Duffy from Dousman, Wisconsin told us. He SOLD his 1968 Camaro Pro Street a week after placing his ad. Duffy already knows why we always say ... "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Click this link to view a list of the cars and trucks that SOLD this week on Cars-On-Line.com.

Mopar collectors take note. This is the first time the 1970 "Sunroof Challenger" has ever been offered for sale to the public. This famous 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T 440 is the car restored on Discovery Channel by Graveyard Carz in their Season 3 episode. This week it was listed for sale by MS Classic Cars in Seekonk, Massachusetts. The reason this car is so significant is that it is one of only 82 delivered new with a factory power sunroof option, M51. And it was the only Sunroof Challengere produced with the High Impact Plum Crazy Purple color and a 440 Magnum motor. “The Wise Vehicle Report” from Mopar expert David Wise of MMC Detroit, LLC comes with the car. The car is so well documented that it was featured in the April 2013 issue of Chrysler Power magazine. In the orignal factory paperwork it was processed as a "Special Handling Car." The original “OEM” factory broadcast sheet and the original VIN tag and fender tag are with the car. Click here to view an interesting walk-around video with Mark Shiliro, owner of MS Classic Cars.
Want to turn heads? Here is a 2014 "Superbird", a custom Dodge Challenger turned into a Superbird retro tribute by Heide Performance Products. They orignally showed a custom "Superbird" at the SEMA show where it caused quite a stir. This week, this 2014 model is being offered on the resale market by Streetside Classics in Tampa, Florida. It is powered by a 5.7L Hemi V8 and has a 6-speed manual transmission. Streetside tells us there are only 2,581 actual miles on the car. The wing has the same three-piece style design as the original adjustable one, and because this is a professional performance build, it genuinely creates downforce. It also comes with a functional shaker hood. Look closely at the photos and you will see the Road Runner graphics, showing this is a true Superbird recreation.
Not all classic muscle cars are show quality. When you find one that is, you just have to do a video on it to give it that gravitas. Here is a 1968 Chevelle Malibu repainted in Cortez Silver. Wow! Take a look at the video by clicking the video window above. You'll see what we mean here. The video is presented by Ross Customs in Ortonville, Michigan.

Here is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the right restoration specialist. Two Delahaye USA body kits were blended together to get this look. The body, hood and grille shell are for a 1937 Bugatti Type 57s Pacific fastback. The four pontoon fenders are from a Generation Two Boattail Speedster kit. Automotive artwork at its base level.

A muscle car guy from New York reduced the price on his very desirable 1970 Chevelle SS L78. The L78 is the 396/375 hp big block car. They say this one is numbers matching with a 4-speed. The color is Gobi Beige. He originally listed it as $90,000. But just this week he dropped the price to $73,000.
You'll find hundreds more PRICE REDUCED vehicles on the Price Reduced Feed today. Here are just a few:

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
In Charcoal Metallic finish, here is an elegant executive sports car that remains one of the finest designs Buick ever came up with. This 1967 Buick Riviera Gran Sport edition is being offered for sale this week by Diversion Motors in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Click here to view a walk-around video and hear it run. It is in driver quality condition. Nice paint, but your will find some imperfections upon inspection. You should have it inspected to know for sure if it is what you are looking for. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $17,500.
While there seem to be an unending number of Ford customs out there on the for sale market, there are not that many Chevrolet street rods to choose from. Here is a 1937 Chevy Sedan that was built right. It has a Mustang II front suspension, Baer Sort Track braking system, Flaming River steering and LaCarra interior. The 350 Turbo transmission comes with a 2500 stall converter. It has power windows and Vintage Heat. The seller is from El Paso, Texas. He says it is an all steel street rod except for the front fenders. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The price is $27,500.
The 1959 Ford Ranch Wagon looks sweet in the photos. The private seller from North Carolina tells us it is a survivor with a repaint, seats redone and no rust underneath. He says there is some surface rust starting in the door corners, though. Recent work includes 5 speed conversion, rear main seal replaced, water pump replaced. He says there is a vapor lock problem when starting the car hot. It still has the 292 ci Y block, and the seller says it comes with the original window sticker and owners manual. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $18,000.
Back in the day, the Pontiac Bonneville was a performance luxury car produced for the executive types or the young country club set. This 1964 Pontiac Bonneville 2-Door Hardtop has a 389 ci V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, rebuilt automatic transmission, new radiator, exhaust, tires and wheels, master cylinder, brake hoses and cylinders, ball joints, shocks etc. The private seller from Landisburg, Pennsylvania says it was owned by the same family until 2017. He calls it a "sold driver" in good condition. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. The asking price is $17,500.
Beverly Hills Car Club has a ton of great collector cars at incredibly low prices this week. Something is happening in Los Angeles to procuce these great prices. For instance, they have listed this 1950 MG TD Roadster for sale. They say it is matching numbers and comes in the popular British Racing Green with a parchment interior. It has a 4-speed manual transmission, dual carburetors, soft top, Tonneau cover, and solid wheels. They tell us it is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price on this one is $16,750.
The early classic stepside shortbox pickups have a style and stance all their own. Beverly Hills Car Club has listed this 1960 Chevrolet C10 Stepside for sale this week. in Brown Metallic with a tan interior. It comes equipped with an automatic transmission, strong V8-engine, power steering, and Eagle Alloy wheels. They use the term "mechanically sound" as a buzz word for it runs and drives. This is one you should have inspected before you buy to find out its condition. But the truck is very desirable for classic truck collectors. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The price is $19,750.
When the Nissan 300ZX came out as an upgrade to the Datsun 260Z and 280Z sports cars, it was a generation of improvement over the more primitive first three generations of the Datsun to Nissan evolution. It was the first year that it became a Nissan (they phased out the Datsun name.) This 1985 Nissan 300ZX came as a 5-speed with T-tops. It is being offered for sale at Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. They say there are 68,995 miles on the odometer. It has a clean Carfax and is equipped with digital dash, cruise control, power windws, 4-wheel disc brakes and solid wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $11,750.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
