How many of our readers ever saw the original The Fast and the Furious movie? No, I don't mean the 2001 flic with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. I mean the 1954 version with Dorothy Malone and John Ireland racing a 1954 Jaguar XK120 Roadster through the Baja. The esteem we had for the early XK120's was a tell as to how Jaguars were respected back then.
This week, a red 1954 Jaguar XK120 SE Roadster was listed by The Last Detail, a classic car dealer in North Chicago, Illinois. They handle only the finest old classics for Chicago collectors. They tell us this XK120 was a late production SE sold new to a California buyer by way of Jaguar importer Charles Hornburg in Los Angeles. The red with black leather interior is an excellent combination that works well on this Jaguar. It has the 3.4 liter engine which they rated at 180 horsepower. It includes a black soft top, side curtains, a tonneau and a spare with factory tools.
Obviously the SE was well maintained all these years. Under a previous owner, the Jaguar was given a comprehensive frame-off restoration to concours standard in 2014 at Bill Tracy Jaguar of Sarasota, Florida. The restoration has been carefully maintained ever since, with accolades including a Best of Show award. And, in a Jaguar Club of North America judging in 2016, it received scores of 99.59 and 99.79 out of 100 points.

When a Pensylvania collector listed his Ash Gold 1968 Chevy Nova with a big block 396 in our Nova Section it only took a few weeks before he was filling out our SOLD notification form. "The best! I have sold at least 20 cars on your site," Mark told us after marking his Nova as SOLD.
So Mark already knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." For a look at some of the cars that SOLD this week, follow this link to the SOLD Section below.

The 1953 Buick Skylark is one of the finest convertibles ever manufactured by Buick. The first-year Skylarks were produced to celebrate Buick's 50th year anniversary. Buick really went all-out to prove its automotive design and engineering skills. Take a video tour of this historic car produced by Ellingson's Motorcars in Rogers, Minnesota. This car is 1 of a total of 1,690 made. All of the Skylarks were convertibles that year. It was restored by Old Coach Works Restoration Inc. of Yorkville, Illinois and may be the finest restoration of a Skylark you will ever see. It has the Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, optional Continental kit, beautiful red and white interior and the 322 ci Buick V8 with the super smooth Dynaflow automatic transmission.
Muscle car lovers, you are in for a treat here. A private collector from Palatine, Illinois is offering for sale his 1974 Pontiac Trans Am SD-455, known as a Super Duty. He notes that it is rare, original, and numbers matching with its Pontiac Historical Society documents included in the sale. Amazingly, it still has just 37k miles, says the seller. It is one of 731 SD-455 Trans Ams made with an automatic transmission in '74. This SD-455 is equipped with the Turbo Hydramatic 400 transmission, power steering and power brakes, tilt wheel, an AM/FM 8 track stereo, factory air conditioning, and a custom interior with corduroy seats. '74 was the last year they made the Super Duty Trans Am. This one has Buccaneer red paint. Contact the seller to see the excellent documentation, with original build sheet and manuals, window sticker, original warranty and more. This one is pretty much factory original.
We are getting close now. The Fall Carlisle Auction, will be held October 1-2, 2020. It is only a week away. Time is running out to consign. Just call (717) 960-6400 or visit www.CarlisleAuctions.com. Here are some of the fresh consignments that came in this week.
As you can imagine, the Fall Carlisle Auction will have its share of classic muscle cars in the auction inventory. One of the things Carlisle has always been known for is their fine selection of muscle cars. This week a 1970 Chevelle SS LS6 454/450 hp big block car was added to the auction lineup. It comes with two build sheets (see them in the photos), the original purchase order and a copy of the original payment. The Gold painted LS6 is really something special.
The lineup of fine vintage motorcars to be offered at the Fall Carlisle Auction, October 1-2, 2020 during the Fall Carlisle Car Show just keeps getting better and better. This 1931 Chevrolet Phaeton 2-Dr Landau is so sharp in the photos, it truly is a rare and desirable vintage American classic. They say it has only 36k original miles. It is considered an All Weather Sedan. The terms "concours quality" and "show winner" are used to describe this one.
In Glacier Green and Dover white, a tutone 1956 Buick Special Estate Wagon will be offered to the highest bidder next week at the Fall Carlisle Auction. There will be a few classic station wagons as well as sedan deliveries offered in the sale this year. This one has had a recent restoration on an already solid car. Options include Dynaflow automatic transmission, power steering and power brakes. Be sure to look at all the photos. This is an amazing presentation of a truly rare American station wagon.
One of the reasons you come to the Fall Carlisle Auction is to find luxury cars of the past that still have low original miles. It's what collectors live for. Here is a 1979 Buick Electra Limited which still has only 31,000 original miles. It is an unrestored original 2-owner gem, in Dark Brown metallic paint with a buckskin landau top and luxurious buckskin crushed velour interior. They say it is well-optioned with all the options still working, including cold air conditioning. It comes with original dealer invoice.

RK Motors Charlotte listed a 1962 Corvette Roadster this week, a fine example of a Pro Touring car that wins awards as well as takes to the road. That custom fit and finish is far better than the original factory version. You have to watch the video to gain a sense of how those layers of luxurious Porsche silver paint roll over a perfect show car body. Revealed under the hood you'll see a performance built LS3 Chevy engine rated at 480 horespower. Hear it rumble as they start it up and listen to it cackle as it runs through the gears. Get the feel of the driving exerience with this video.

Recently a Colorado collector finished his 1969 Camaro Z/28 restoration. This was a detailed restoration which took a year-and-a-half to complete. It is an X33 D80 car which he says is documented, and has a chambered exhaust. The DZ302 motor was rebuilt to factory spec and documented as well. He was originally asking $120,000 when he first posted it for sale a few weeks back. But just this week he dropped the price down to $105,000.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
Classic muscle cars are really moving this week. All of a sudden sales are picking up noticeably in the collector car market. One of the reasons is that prices have been coming down on some very desirable cars. Here is a 1970 Chevrolet El Camino from Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa. They say it is a very solid El Camino with the cowl induction hood and SS trim. (They do not represent it as being an actual SS, no documentation.) Floor, frame and bed are solid, they say. Follow this link to review a walk-around video inspection on this car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because this super straight El Camino is offered at just $20,995.
Here is the "sleeper deal of the week" from Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. You won't find opportunities like this very often. This is a 1935 Auburn 876 Speedster replica which has been sitting in storage for quite some time. Originally from California, it comes with white paint, red fenders, and white and red interior (see it in the photos.) Also in the photos you will note an automatic transmission, V8 engine, Edelbrock intake manifold, M/T valve covers, soft top, front-wheel disc brakes, and wire wheels. What a find. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Honestly, it might be sold before it even makes it to Sunday. The asking price is only $12,750. Hurry on this one!
Whoooah! Here is one you don't see very often. When Willie Durant ran GM he was always at loggerheads with his board. What he always wanted was to form his own automotive company so he could run it his way. In 1921 he founded Durant. He got his shot for a short moment in history. This 1924 Durant Star Touring car is a gleaming example of what Willie was trying to do. Electric starter, wood wheels, a factory 4-speed manual transmission ... what a find! It is being offered for sale at Classic Car Liquidators in Sherman, Texas this week. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. Yes, you can own a piece of automotive history for just $14,999.
Connors Motorcar Comany in West Chester, Pennsylvania has another incredible classic car at a very affordable price point. Here is their 1940 Packard 110 2-Door Sedan with its handsome gray paint and stately manor. It has a 245 ci, 100 horsepower 6-cylinder engine, 3-speed transmission, deluxe heater, and new wide white wall radial tires. They say it is fully serviced, and that it runs and drives "great." It is not often that you find a quality driver at this price range. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week because the asking price is only $15,500.
The whole category of classic luxury cars is beginning to get renewed attention from car collectors. These big luxury cars are often still used as reliable daily transportation. Here is a great example. This 1969 Lincoln Continental is being offered for sale by a private seller from Ft Lauderdale, Florida. It has the famous suicide back doors for formal use. The seller describes the flawless black vinyl top, original engine and transmission and all the power options in the description. He even notes that it still has "ice cold air conditioning." He lists many new parts including a new carburetor, new tires and more. This elegant ride will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $10,000.
For many Ford Mustang collectors, the 1967 Mustang was the most desirable. The brand and styling had matured by '67. Here is a 1967 Mustang Convertible priced so reasonably that you can still afford to drive a classic. It is a C-Code convertible in white with a parchment color interior. You will find it has the inline 6 cylinder engine and an automatic transmission. It also has power steering, a power soft top, parade boot cover and solid wheels. It is another affordable offering from Beverly Hills Car Club out of Los Angeles. They say it is mechanically sound and well-priced at just $17,500.
Classic Off-Roading is a hot trend in the collector car hobby these days. Down south they just can't get enough of these rugged rides. It has a fiberglass body, lift kit, custom dash, huge tires, and all the 4-wheel-drive goodies you want in a great off-road piece. Click here to review a walk-around inspection by Unique.
