When you are an Edsel owner, you take a lot of ribbing. Every time you see one it kinda' brings a smile to your face. All the old Edsel jokes are legendary. But Edsel owners may now be getting the last laugh. These cars are so rare that they are drawing more money in resale than their classic Ford cousins these days.
To prove that point, this week a private collector from Rindge, New Hampshire is offering his 1958 Edsel Pacer Convertible for sale. It is the Turquoise over White version with the desirable Teletouch electronic push button automatic transmission. The seller says it features Coker radials designed to exactly duplicate the look of the original bias ply tires which would have come with the car. Of course, they are white walls. He says the top works with new top cylinders. You'll find dozens of detailed photos on the ad page.
The 1958 Edsel Pacer Convertible was a step above the Edsel Ranger which was not offered as a convertible. It had contoured seat backs, nylon upholstery, and extra stainless steel exterior and interior trim pieces and window moldings. A basic heater was available and air conditioning was optional. The Pacer was built on the Ford Fairlane 118 inch wheelbase and could be ordered with a 361 ci V8.
If you want to review more Edsel history and see a breakdown of the production numbers, follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog. Then let us in on your favorite Edsel stories in the comments section below the article. We love to hear your stories.

The Fall Auburn Auction is underway. This 1970 Chevelle SS just sold for $37,000 at the hammer. On Saturday, Cars-On-Line will be holding another Auction Watching party for our readers. Follow our posts on Facebook and Twitter as we monitor the cars and prices all afternoon when the Prime Time docket of cars is rolled across the auction block. The RM Auctions presentation is sure to be exciting. You can also read our commentary on the Fall Auburn Auction page on our ClassiCarNews blog site.
We are pretty excited about our new Cars-On-Line sponsored Classic-Auto-Parts.com page, which we are unveiling here for the first time. The key feature is that all of the classic parts ads will have photos so you have a better idea of what you are buying and the advertiser can display key features of the parts they have for sale. How many times have you bought the wrong part when you could have determined from a photo whether it was a left hand side piece of chrome rather than a right hand side piece?
Just go to Classic-Auto-Parts.com and check it out. Parts ads are still FREE. For parts vendors, we have added an unlimited photo package which will give you special functions for a small fee. We think this is just what is needed since there are no car shows or swap meets this year because of the pandemic. Now you have a great way to sell those extra parts you have laying around.
Get the fresh ads first, before the other buyers see them. Subscribe to the FREE Cars On Line Collector Car Newsletter.
This week Ideal Classic Cars in Venice, Florida is offering a rare 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 Convertible for sale. You don't see these offered to the public very often. And this one is Viking blue with white racing stripes. It is one of only 264 W-30 convertibles produced. They have a great walk-around video in their ad today. The video shows all the sumptuous lines and curves that abound on this muscular Oldsmobile. The truth is you get more car when you buy a 442 convertible than if you buy its GTO or Chevelle cousins. Of course, it has the numbers matching 455 ci V8 engine with the matching correct OW Code and a Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission with dual gate shifter.
When a private seller from Eagle River, Wisconsin listed a rare Canadian made muscle car, we knew we had to show it to you here. The Chevy collector has a rare 1967 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe which is the Canadian equivalent of Chevrolet's Nova Super Sport. In Canada, they came out with the Acadian Canso because there was a trademark conflict with using the model name Nova in Canada. So GM produced the Acadian under its Pontiac division there. This one is white with a red interior from the factory. It is one of 370 that came with the L79 327/350 horsepower engine and a 4-speed transmission. A wonderful find for any collector, it has factory bucket seats with a factory center console and Canadian documentation. The seller says it has undergone a concours quality restoration. You have to see this one for yourself. What a find!
Southern Motors just rolled out a Regimental Red 1967 Pontiac GTO for sale. It's an older restoration that's still in great shape and you'll see it all in a short walk-around video tour. It runs well with a 400ci 4bbl engine with factory intake and 400 Turbo Hydramatic transmission. The hood is open and there's detailed photos of the undercarriage in the listing. It's a staple muscle car that every collector should have a chance to own and drive.

There was a lot of good thought put into this one. A black 1970 Chevelle SS has been restored painstakingly to look like an LS6 convertible. The private seller from Waldorf, Maryland says it looks like a stock LS6 454/450 hp Chevelle SS. It has the correct Winters intake, roller rockers, lifters and cam with 10.5:1 compression. The 512 block has not yet been dyno'd but should make 550 + hp.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
For the second week in a row we have a classic Pontiac Firebird convertible in our featured DEAL of the DAY spot in the newsletter. This 1968 Pontiac Firebird Convertible is being offered for sale by a private collector from Somerset, Wisconsin. It is the very desirable Ram Air 400 version with the 400 ci V8 and a TH400 automatic transmission. The seller says it is in very good condition and is a good driver. It comes with power steering, power brakes, Pontiac Rally wheels and bucket seats. The seller says Pontiac Historical Society documents come with the car. It was evidently restored about 15 years ago. It is red with a black vinyl interior and black top. Have it inspected to see how it drives out. The asking price is only $28,500.
Here is one you don't see in the DEAL of the DAY very often. Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles has listed a very desirable 1960 Bentley S2 for sale from their showroom. It is a little unusual in that it is a Right-Hand-Drive version as if it came from England. Because they were not exporting a lot of these cars back then it may have found its way here. The color is Magnoli over Smoke Green with a Magnolia Green piping in the interior. It has an automatic transmission, air conditioning, power windows, power steering, wood trim, rear Grey Poupon picnic trays, whitewall tires and the original jack. Beverly Hills tells us it is an excellent original and elegant British classic with a powerful engine. This would be a good one to have inspected before you buy. But the asking price is only $18,750.
Something must be going on in California these days. There are a number of nicely priced classic Mustangs coming out of that Los Angeles area from Beverly Hills Car Club this week. This is a very desirable 1965 Mustang Fastback, a real A Code car in Poppy Red with white racing stripes and a black interior. It not only has the 289 Ford V8, but also comes with the manual transmission and has added Cobra valve covers, and solid wheels. Ford enthusiasts know that the first generation Mustangs fastbacks always bring premium prices in the collector market. We haven't seen one at this price point in a while. They say it is mechanically sound. The asking price is $29,950.
Man, it is hard to know where to begin when describing this 1957 Chevy Stepside Pickup from a private seller in Longs, South Carolina. There is so much work put into this truck. It has a 10-bolt rear with 3.42 gears and Yukon Posi, custom made snubbr traction bars, front disc brakes , TH350 transmission with worked valve body and 12" HoleShot converter. That's just the beginning. The 5" Monster Tach with shift light complements a vacuum gauge under the hood. You'll find a custom made wood bed, wheel tubs, Grant steering wheel, tilt steering, truck bed coating, hidden tailgate hinges, '78 Camaro subframe. The engine is a 383 stroker motor with Eagle rotating assembly, Comp Cams xe 268 camstamped steel roller tip rockers, work VORTEC heads, and much more. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $23,000.
It seems the whole hobby is trending toward these jacked-up 4X4 sport vehicles for off-roading. Here is a 1978 Jeep CJ-5 that has an added 6" lift kit. The AMC Jeep V8 engine is said to have only 350 miles on it. It comes with a 3-speed transmission, mild cam, headers, '78 Wagoner front disc brakes, dual diaphragm brake booster and much more. The private seller from Spring, Louisiana is offering it for sale this week. He says it has DUI ignition an aluminum radiator. It will be our DEAL of the Day later next week. The asking price is only $16,000. If you've been wanting one of these off-road Jeeps, have this one inspected.
Streetside Classics in Ft Worth, Texas knew they had a clean survivor when they picked up this 1968 Ford Torino. The car really presents well. They believe it is an original 97k-mile classic Ford which is well documented and came with air conditioning. After an inspection by the American Fairlane Association, they found out that the paint on this Torino is all original (except for the passenger side rear quarter.) So here is a very factory correct example which still looks great. The documentation includes a Marti Report, window sticker, original build sheet, a dealer's invoice, and lots of other original paper. What value do you place on its originality? It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $12,995.
Be sure to watch the video on this cool classic 1959 Studebaker Lark being offered for sale at Ellingon's Motorcars in Rogers, Minnesota. It gives you a nice overview of the Lark with its 259 ci V8 and automatic transmission. Take a look at the engine compartment and trunk, the nice chrome and the newly done burgandy interior. They also show you the Velvet black paint which has been repainted. All of the work was done while this car was in a well known Studebaker collection, so you know they paid some attention to originality. Click here to view the video. Wait till you hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late in the week. The asking price is $16,995.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
