1959 was the first year that Chevrolet's Impala had a model of its own. (In 1958 the Impala was part of the Bel Air model lineup.) In 1959, the Impala replaced the Bel Air as Chevrolet's top-of-the-line series. And the one-off styling on the 1959 model did not disappoint.
This week, a private seller from Lompoc, California placed his ad for a 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. This is an important find for Chevrolet collectors. Every time we get one of these rare '59 Impala convertibles listed we know we have to feature them here in the newsletter. The seller says it is a clean and solid example, all stock and original with no rust. He notes that it has never been modified and never been restored. The top works and is summer ready. It comes with a Continental kit and cool cruiser skirts. The seller calls it a "daily driver", not a show car. But what a find.
After the Impala's debut in 1958, the 1959 version had a completely different look. They called the style the "Slimline Design" with the iconic "Bat Wing" rear tail treatment. The front was so low you could always tell it was an Impala coming at you by how low the headlamps were to the ground. The whole car seemed to hug the ground, especially a convertible with the top down.
The Impala was Chevrolet’s top seller for 1959. Chevrolet chief engineer Ed Cole called it a “prestige car within the reach of the average American citizen.”

American Muscle.com sent us a video explaining five really useful mods for your late model 2015-and-up Eco Boost Mustang. If you own one of these 4 cylinder Eco Boost Ford Mustangs, you may be desperate to add some performance to enhance your driving experience. In this video, Justin, from American Muscle.com tells us about five easy mods. To lower the suspension slightly he suggests suspension SR Performance Lowering springs. To make your factory 4 cylinder Eco Boost sound a little more throaty they came up with a Borla Touring Cat-Back exhaust with Carbon Fiber tips. Then add a Turbosmart Kompact Shortie Dual Port blow off valve to make your turbo sound better. Top it off with a custom tune using the Unleashed Tuning Rev-X tuner by SCT. Plus, Justin shows you how to get 20 to 30 extra hp under the curve at certain rpms. Click here to view the video.
In a year when we thought car shows were a dinosaur of the past, there is one auto event which will still be held. (Cross your fingers.) This week the folks from the Spring Carlisle Auction have announced that their June 18-19 auction sale is still on. The 1937 Ford Roadster you see here is their most recent consignment. They said the governor of Pennsylvania is set to okay the event. There will be rules for social distancing and wearing masks, but the cars will be there in all their glory. Finally, an auto show to talk about. As always, the auction will be available to watch through streaming on Facebook, and online and phone-in bidding will be available. Since it is likely to be the first big national car event of the post-Covid period, Cars-On-Line will be there to cover this one. Wouldn't miss it. Click here to find out how to participate.

The last of the Boss Mustangs was produced in 1971. Ford came out with the 1971 Boss 351 Mustang which was a 13-second car right out of the factory. This week, Legendary Motorcar Company listed a Raven black version with the factory 4-barrel carburetor. They tell us it is numbers matching. It is extremely rare and collectible. Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, Mustang collectors will be salivating over this one. It has the 3.91 Traction-Lok rear axle and Magnum 500 wheels. The Raven black paint with silver NASA hood and trim is stunning, as the matching Clarion black interior shows well in the photos. Documentation insludes a Deluxe Marti Report and a window sticker. Interestingly, Legendary offers financing as well as leasing options for both U.S. and Canadian clients.
As a tribute to the classic 124 Spider, Fiat brought back the marque with an elegant retro edition. This 2017 Fiat 124 Spider has been listed by Flemings Ultimate Garage in Rockville, Maryland. Interestingly, this included a video produce by Fiat comparing the early 124 and a retro edition. Click here to view video. This one is a one-owner with only 3,876 miles. The mirror finish factory Bronzo Magnetico Titanium paint is in show quality condition. For the sports car purist, an all-aluminum 1.4L Turbocharged and Intercooled Inline 4-cylinder motor is mated to a close-ratio, 6-speed manual transmission. The tach revs to 8k and the speedometer predicts up to 150 mph. It is a throwback to the days when sports cars were race cars, and the open road was your life journey. Produced from 2016 through 2019, there were 4,478 124 Spiders built in 2017.
Is this the Rain Man car? It sure looks like it, doesn't it? Legendary Motors, LLC, in Beverly, Massachusetts has listed this incredible classic 1949 Buick Super Convertible for sale this week. What a rare find. The iconic Sequoia Cream color and red leather interior will melt your collector heart. Luckily, Legendary Motors has done an excellent walk-around video on this one. In 1949, this Buick rivaled Cadillac as America's luxury convertible. We can't thank them enough for showing off this beautiful classic Buick in video.

No fake patina on this truck. What you see is real. A 1932 Ford Pickup was listed for sale by a private seller from Cody, Wyoming. He says the original California hot rod was nicely done about 60 years ago. The engine is a Smeding 383 stroker with roller rockers and three deuces. It has a fresh Turbo 350 transmission and a new driveshaft from Whittier Driveline Service, plus a Currie 9" Ford rear end. There is a lot to like here.

But here is a 1939 Chevy Coupe that will get your respect. The private seller from Vernon, BC, Canada originally listed this car for $89,000. But just this week he dropped the price by $10,000. The new price is $79,000. It's starting to look much better.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Buick Gran Sports and Oldsmobile Cutlass 442's don't get the same respect that Chevrolet's Chevelle SS's get on the collector car market, but they are every bit and more muscle car than their Super Sport cousins. Yesterday, a 1966 Buick Gran Sport was listed for sale by Carroll Street Auto in Manchester, New Hampshire. This is probably one of the best deals on the internet this week. They say it is a two-owner original example with 46,218 actual miles. It comes with original documentation, protecto plate, owners manual, and dealer information. According to the descriiption, the California car has a numbers matching 401 ci Buick engine rated at 325 hp. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. Their asking price is only $29,900.
The Poppy Red paint on this 1965 Mustang Convertible will get your attention. The wet look redo on the paint is worthy of note. It was just listed by Browns Performance Motorcars in Glen Burnie, Maryland. They say the red interior, chrome trim and brightwork are all in "great condition." It was acquired from a local Maryland collection, owned for over 20 years. It has a 289 ci A Code motor wtih a "smooth C4 automatic transmission and 9" rear end. They say it has many new suspension parts. This may be the opportunity you have been looking for to own one of these first generation Mustang convertibles for under $30,000. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is only $24,900.
Here is a one-off classic custom pickup that you will never see again. Someone took a 1955 Ford Fairlane Crown Victoria with the plexiglass roof and converted it into a Ranchero. Flamed with a funtional Shark Tooth grille and Lake pipes, it is every bit the classic custom it looks to be. It has traction bars, dummy spotlights and shaved door handles (with openers concealed under spotlights). It is powered by a 383 ci engine with dual quad carburetors, automatic transmission w/ratchet shifter, power windows, power steering and power brakes. There is a lot to like about this custom pickup. It is being sold through Haggle Me.com, an internet classic car broker. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday with an asking price set at $17,500.
In the late stages of the muscle car era, Pontiac came out with some of the most interesting models, the Can Am and Grand Am being good examples. Here is a rare 1973 Pontiac Grand Am being offered for sale by Chicago Car Club in Chicago, Illinois. The put together a detailed video inspection of the Grand Am with an opportunity to hear it run. Click here to view their video presentation. It is just out of long-term ownership and has the 6.6L 400 Pontiac engine with a TH400 automatic transmission. The color is Regatta blue. This is a driver quality car with a lot of unique charm. Note the photos of the undercarriage. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is only $16,900.
If you have been waiting for an opportunity to own a Jaguar XK8 convertible, here is your chance. It is much like owning the classic XKE Jaguars, but with modern technology. This week, Classic Car Deals, an internet broker, has listed this 1999 Jaguar XK8 Convertible for their client in Michigan. The Jaguar XK8 (project code X100) is a grand tourer that was launched by Jaguar Cars in 1996, and was the first generation of a new XK series. With a new 4.0-litre Jaguar AJ-V8 engine, it also has the new CATS (Computer Active Technology Suspension) adaptive suspension. And there is much more. This incredible sports car will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. They are only asking $11,995.
The Chevelle Super Sport may just be the most popular muscle car in existence. Whenever we post one on Facebook they get a ton of "Likes." So as this 1972 Chevelle SS became available for sale this week we knew we had to show it to you here. The listing is by Haggle Me, an internet broker who listed this car for their client. They tell us it is an authentic SS with a build sheet and Protecto plate for documentation. The 350 ci V8 is NOM with a mild hydraulic camshaft which makes for an impressive rumble. The transmission is a TH400 3-speed automatic with a GM 12-bolt rear axle. The 3.5-inch dual exhaust is said to sound "amazing." It even has a true functional GM tach and orignal GM bucket seats with a center console. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week if it lasts that long. The asking price is $27,500.
The 1972 Oldsmobile Cutlass Resto Mod has been listed for sale through Cars-On-Line in the past. You may remember when we had a video on this car. It is now being offered for sale by a private collector from Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. He says it was restored to be a driver, works great for "cruise nights." He says he finds these driver class muscle cars, restores them, enjoys them and then moves on. So this one is available today at a very attractive price point. He says he needs to make room for his next project. The origiinal North Carolina car has new fenders and a new trunk lid. I think, after you see the photos, you'll be amazed at the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week if it lasts that long. With only 71k original miles, he is only asking $12,250.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
