When a gorgeous Tuxedo black 1969 Camaro Z/28 was sold for $42,350 at the first ever Barrett-Jackson online auction in May, the dynamic of the collector car market may have shifted. The average price on a Camaro Z/28 prior to the Covid-19 pandemic was about $65,000. (That price is based on very desriable No. 2 condition class show cars.) The current trend is to hold auctions online, but that is likely to bring prices on collector cars even lower than they are already. The Barrett-Jackson has always been the barometer for collector car pricing. But it is harder to get top dollar when the auction is not held live. Time will tell. We will be watching as Mecum Auctions is planning to do a live auction in Jefferson, North Carolina, June 28-29, 2020. Only auction bidders will be allowed into the facility. No spectators will be allowed.

We got word this week that our favorite classic car auction has been postponed until August now. The Raleigh Classic in Raleigh, North Carolina was to have been this month. But the word came through this week that it has been rescheduled for August 21-22, 2020. The new venue for this year is in Youngsville, North Carolina at the Capitol Auto Auction facility. We like this auction because you can always find real low mileage classic cars at this one. Dealers use it to restock their inventory.

We were sorry to hear that the Carlisle Auction was cancelled. That happened right after we ran the story last week that the Spring Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet, June 17-20, 2020, would be the first car show to be held "post-Covid." But this week they told us that the Spring Carlisle Auction would not be held for 2020. The Spring Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet are still scheduled for that weekend at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Fairgrounds.

RK Motors Charlotte has just posted a gorgeous black on black 1970 Chevelle SS LS6. The factory muscle car is a legendary LS6 454/450 hp monster with bulletproof documentation from GM Canada. The authentic Chevelle LS6 is equipped with an M22 Rock Crusher Muncie 4-speed transmission, and comes with the correct Holley carburetor and Winters intake. RK Motors tells us it has the 12-bolt rear axle with a correct “CRV” assembly stamp. RK Motors has produced a very interesting walk-around video so you can see it and hear it run. In that the Chevelle is one of the most popular muscle cars of all time, this is the top of the Chevelle "food chain." It just doesn't get any better than this.

A 1969 Mustang Mach 1 R Code muscle car is up for sale this week. It was listed by Haggle Me.com, an internet broker. They tell us this highlly desirable 428CJ version of the Mach 1 has only 18,708 actual miles. They say it has now been professionally restored to concours show quality condition. This one even has the original Buck Tag.

Here is an easy restoration project to finish. A 1937 Ford Woodie Wagon is available from a private seller in Bristol, Tennessee. All the hard work has already been done, including the wood. It is a Hercules body and TCI frame. It comes with an LS1 pro built motor and 4L60 transmission, Air Ride suspension. You paint it and finish the wood. Not much more to do. You could get it at half the value it will bring when it is finsihed right.

This week's PRICE REDUCED feature car is a 1967 Corvette Big Block Convertible from Delafield, Wisconsin. The Silver Pearl 427/400 with a black top is a very desirable collector Corvette. The private seller says it is a matching numbrs 4-speed with side pipes. It was originally posted for sale for $175,000. But just a few days ago the price was dropped to $149,000.

One of the most popular models in the collector car market is the Chevrolet Impala. This week a 1964 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe (2-Door Hardtop) was listed for sale at a very affordable price. The private seller from Boonville, Indiana says it is not all original, of course. But he does say it is a nice "cruiser." He says It has "a 350 engine bored out .30 over , headers, performance cam, 3-inch exhaust, sounds awesome and 4-speed manual transmission Probably less than ten thousand miles on a complete engine rebuild." What's more he tells us it sounds great and catches everyone's attention. You will find that it needs a few trim pieces on the trunk hood. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday, featured on the front page of the Cars-On-Line website, because the asking price is just $17,900.

An internet broker with the website We Be Autos.com has listed this 1931 Buick Series 50 Convertible Touring car for their client in Shirley, New York. It comes with a Stright 8, 3-speed manual transmission and all new OEM wiring and brake lines. It includes a new interior and matching vinyl to comlement the car. Be sure to watch this detailed walk-around video and hear the owner talk about the car. Notice the simulated woodgrain dash accents and working spot light. When they show the engine compartment you will marvel at how clean it is. They put in new safety glass for the windshield. See dozens of detailed photos in the ad. They go over almost every inch of the car. See the military wheels and more. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is only $15,995. We can all afford to be collectors at these prices.

Another internet broker is offering a 1932 Ford 3-Window Coupe, a listing for one of their clients. Classic Car Deals tells us this is a sweet ride that you should look at or have inspected. You might find that it is a "diamond in the rough." It is equipped with a 350 small block Chevy motor, automatic transmission, power windows and disc brakes. Most important, they tel us it is "turn-key" ready for you to enjoy and take to car shows and parades. Think how much fun you could have at such a low cost. This deuce coupe has a full-fendered look with the chopped top and suicide doors with poppers. This one would be a great car to have inspected to find out more about it before you buy. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $23,495. (You were expecting a $40,000 price tag on it weren't you?)

If you are looking for a mid-year Oldsmobile convertible, here is one that is very affordable. The 1964 Oldsmobile Cutlass Convertible is in clean condition for a car of this age. The seller says it originally came from California and has no rust. The paint is 10-years old at least with minor road rash and chips. It was equipped with bucket seats and a console, power drum brakes and it runs and drives. The private seller describes it as being in "excellent condition, new convertible top. Underneath is clean, solid car." It has an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor but he says he has the original 4-barrel as well. Cars like this are great to drive around just for the summer. You can think about restoring it later. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. The asking price is $16,500.

More affordable summer time fun can be had here with this 1964 Ford Galaxie 500XL Fastback from a private seller in Toledo, Ohio. He tells us it does come with the Z Code 390 big block Ford engine. This would be an excellent example of a car to have us do a complete pre-purchase inspection on to get more information. The description is a little skimpy with information on the car which is too bad because the photos make the car look interesting. The seller does say that it runs and drives nice. It has red paint and a matching red interior. It also has the Thunderbird slide-away steering column. This could be a great conversation piece and wonderful summer ride. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $16,000.

Remember when these were brand new? I remember watching the Indy 500 when one of these was the Pace Car. This is a real dealer edition 1994 Mustang SVT Cobra Indy Pace Car Convertible. They made the Mustang the Pace Car in 1994 to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Mustang. It was a brand new design that year and styled by SVT. The one you see here is without the decals but they tell us it has the unused Indy 500 decals in the box and comes with the sale. What a find! This one is being offered for sale this weekend by Streetside Classics in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is perfect for a collector. Only 1,000 dealer sold Indy Pace Car editions were produced by Ford that year. You can own one of them right now. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week if it lasts that long. This week, Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York has listed an interesting 1967 Jaguar 3.8 S-Type Saloon. They say it is a beautiful example which has an older restoration. What is unusual about it is that it comes with a factory 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The bugundy metallic paint shows well in the photos, and it has tan leather interior. It is also a left-hand-drive verion, hard to find these days. You know that on the West Coast the big trend now is to get one of these, restore them and put in a modern drive train. That is a sweet setup. I wouldn't be surprised if that is what will happen with this one. But they say it runs and drives excellent the way it is. It will be our DEAL of the DAY at the end of next week. The asking price is only $12,500.
