Seemingly tame looking with its simple Chevy hubcaps and plain wrapper trim. Who would have known in ’69 that there was a 427/425 hp factory power plant under the hood? That is not to mention the heavy duty suspension to handle that monster power. All of that in a Pony car that weighed only 3,642 pounds. The 1969 COPO Camaro was the ultimate sleeper among period muscle cars.
A very correct example of a 1969 COPO Camaro 427 was listed for sale on Cars-On-Line this week. The private owner from California says it was once owned by John Cena, the WWE World Champion wrestler and Hollywood movie star. He says the L72 427 is numbers matching and original. "It is VIN stamped, and still has the original broach marks, indicating the block has not been decked.” He notes the 3963512 block, casting date of 11/6/68. It has correct 840 heads with the same casting date. He says the Rock Crusher M-22 4-speed is also numbers matching.
The COPO Camaros are legendary. Only about 1,000 were ever produced. The celebrity owned COPO comes documented with original Protect-O-Plate, and warranty information booklet. This car is a beautiful example of high performance Chevrolet history. Click here to view a photo of John Cena with this car, and read a detailed history on this restored classic muscle car.

The automobile changed the world in the 20th Century much like the computer has changed the world in the 21st Century. Making people and materials more mobile in a modern world advanced our economy and ushered in a new era of wealth in America. The Automotive History Preservation Society is helping to preserve much of the history of the automobile by digitizing everything from paper records to automotive periodicals from back in the day. The photo you see here is from a rare 1929 brochure printed by Cord to promote its "new models". The brochure is downloadable in .pdf format. Lots of photos and good information. The Automotive History Preservation Society is a non-profit 501 c3 which operates on the web. They run the Eric White Digital Documents Library where all these records are stored. Follow this link to find out more, and to become a member with speical member benefits.
Our readers know how much we love it when our advertisers tell us about their sales. One man from Sun Valley, Nevada mailed in his ad last week. You may remember it from the last newsletter. "Immediate results," he told us. "Had 41 views first day! Was a quick sale from Cars On Line. Good pictures of a rare vehicle in tip-top condition." Tom was excited to tell us he had already SOLD his 1961 Buick Invicta after just placing his $45.00 Run Until Sold Ad.
Now Tom knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." For a look at all the cars that SOLD this week, follow this link to the SOLD Section below.

Even in 1957 there were sports car performance enthusiasts that wanted something special from the Ford factory. Although they are very hard to find today, this 1957 Ford Thunderbird E-Bird came with a dual quad carburetor with a double hump air cleaner. On the dealer invoice it would have been denoted as an E Code motor. Thus, the name "E-Bird". It is for sale this week at Bayou Classic & Customs in Parks, Louisiana. They say "It just might be impossible to find another E Code as nice for this price." It has undergone a frame-off restoration with no item left untouched. Only 1,663 E Codes were ever produced. They were only availalbe on year, in 1957.
We are thrilled that one of our favorite events, the Raleigh Classic Auction, will still happen this summer inspite of the pandemic. The Raleigh Classic will be held August 21-22, 2020 in Youngsville, North Carolina at the Capitol Auto Auction facility. The Raleigh Auction tends to bring in some of the top collector cars from the Southeastern U.S. Many of them are low miles and in nice original condition. Here are some of the cars already consigned to sell. Finally, a collector car event worth attending again.
Among the historically important offerings at this year's Raleigh Classic Auction is a 1939 Packard V-12 Coupe, one of nine known to exist. It was formerly owned by a TV celebrity. Its features include dual side-mounted spare tires, rear trunk, golf club compartment, rumble seat and rare radio antenna hood ornament. They say it is a joy to drive. It is the type of rare vintage car you'll find at the Raleigh Classic this year.
Collector car dealers love the Raleigh Classic because it is a great auction for finding solid original muscle cars as well as classics. Here is a 1969 Hurst Oldsmobile witch will be offered on Friday, August 21, 2020 at the auction in Youngsville, North Carolina. It is one of about 900 Hurst Cutlass 442's produced as special edition muscle cars that year. They say it is documented and is currently in the Hurst Registry. Options on this car include rare factory air conditioning and an automatic transmission.
One of the top classic 1950's cars of all time is this 1956 Lincoln Premiere Convertible. Only produced for two years, the Premiere was powered by a 358 ci V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor and had an automatic transmission. The toy of the wealthy class, it was a great "country club car." Options on this one include power steering, power brakes, split bench seat, power convertible top, fender skirts, Town and Country radio, knight hood mascot, painted steel wheels and whitewall tires. This one is said to be in show quality.
Rare and low miles cars are often found at the Raleigh Classic Auction. This 2003 Panoz Esperente is showing just 11k actual miles and retains 100 percent of its original silver metallic paint and gray leather interior. The original Panoz sports cars were produced and hand crafted to provide an incredible sports car experience. The mid-mounted 320 hp 4.6L engine with DOHC 32 valve aluminum V8 is more than enough power. Accompanying documentation includes the owner's manual and original window sticker.

Recently they've had some very interesting muscle cars for sale, and have taken full advantage of video to present them on CarsOnLine.tv, our video marketplace. Today they are showing a 1969 Camaro Pro Touring car that is very well done and, yet, very affordably priced. Tom guides you through a walk-around tour of the car, and then takes you on a test drive. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
It looks as though collector car prices are becoming more reasonable everyday. With the current economy, a lot of collectors are trying to sell their cars. Here is a 1968 Ford Torino Convertible from Rolla, Missouri that looks really nice in the photos. Of course, you should have it inspected before you buy. But look at the price. The seller says it comes with a 302 ci V8 engine, factory power steering and factory power top. The cruise control was an add-on aftermarket and so are the power brakes. You will want to check this one out. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $15,900.
In 1956 and 1957, Lincoln decided to produce the Continental Mark II as its own make separate from Lincoln. The Continental received a makeover with European progressive styling and an elegant profile. This 1956 Continental Mark II is featured for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. It has factory air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power seats, solid wheels with whitewall tires and an automatic transmission. It is black with a beautiful red interior (see photos.) Beverly Hills notes that there is some checking in the paint. Yet this is one beautiful example of automotive styling, and many celebrities from the 1950's era drove these. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price on this one is only $28,500.
An historically important luxury car, the 1946 Packard Clipper, is being offered for sale at Country Classics out of Staunton, Illinois. They tell us it is a good looking car with a nice color combination, a good body and nice redone interior. It comes with a Straight 8 and a 3-speed manual transmission. Oddly, it has new American Racing polished Torque Thrust mag wheels and tires. They say it "runs and drives." With so little detail about the car you should certainly have it inspected before you buy. For instance, it looks like the front bumper has been painted. You'll want to know that. However, it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is only $12,750.
A nicely restored old school 1946 Ford Tudor Sedan hot rod is presented for sale by Heaton Hot Rods in Joliet, Illinois. This sweet ride has been nicely restored to full custom with a Cadillac leather interior, Lake pipes, Baby spotlights, flipper hubcaps and a beautiful Red Pepper paint with pearled clear coat. It runs with a built 1953 Flathead engine with dual carbs. It transfers power with a column shifted manual transmission. Click here to hear it run in this walk-around video. This custom is very tastefully done. You will want to come and drive it. Fortunately, the price is affordable. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. They are only asking $19,500.
After World War II, returning military servicemen remembered the excitement they had witnessed in driving European two-door sports cars. The one that caught the fancy of many young Americans at the time was the MG TD Roadster. MG actually capitolized on the American fantasy by exporting the MG TD to the U.S. Here is a 1952 MG TD Roadster being offered for sale at Beverly Hills Car Club. It is available in Old English white with a red interior. It comes equpped with manual transmission, a soft top, side curtains, rear luggage rack and solid wheels. Beverly Hills tells us it is "An excellent original MG TD which is mechanically sound." Of course, you should have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! This one is being offered at just $16,750.
Buick's Roadmaster model is one that collectors favor. This week, Classic Car Deals, an internet broker, has listed this 1952 Buick Roadmaster for sale out of Colorado. They say it runs great with electricals having been converted to 12-volt. So it comes with an electric fuel pump, Edelbrock carburetor and a new battery in 2020. They say the headlights, turn signals, brake lights and windshield wipers work. However, they also have a list of problems which will need fixing. So this one is the type of car that is best owned by a collector who likes to work on his cars. It is said to come with manuals. It will be our DEAL of the DAY. The asking price is $14,495.
Here's a 1963 Chrysler Newport Convertible which was literally owned by a little old lady from Atlanta. She kept it until 2009 when she sold it to the current owner. He has consigned it with Motorcar Studio there in Atlanta, Georgia. The 98,000 miles showing on the car are believed to be original. Click here to view a walk-around video done by Motorcar Studio. It has the 361 ci V8 with a Torqueflite push-button automatic transmission and all the power options you would expect. They say it has been maintained over the years with rebuilt parts. Find a full description at the ad link. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $14,900.
