In 1970, an SCCA race team called T/G Racing campaigned a famous No. 92 Pontiac Trans Am with the signature blue and white color scheme. It was the original "Tire Bird" sporting B.F. Goodrich's new T/A radial tires. They actually raced the street version T/A radials to promote their performance stamina. The ads worked that year, so in 1971 BFG commissioned T/G Racing to build six 1971 Pontiac Trans Am Tirebird promo cars to make appearances all over the country. The T/A radial was born.
This week, the only remaining 1971 Pontiac Trans Am Tirebird is being offered for sale by a private party seller from San Antonio, Texas. (Tap this link to view more photos.) He says it is one of the six promotional cars built by T/G Racing for B.F. Goodrich that year. (T/G Racing was a partnership enterprise of racers Jerry Titus and Terry Godsall.) The owner tells us it is the only remaining '71 Tirebird promotional car. The car has been featured in Popular Hot Rodding, Firebird Times, Car Craft, Muscle Car Review and Petersens Engine Swap. It was purchased from BFG by Tom Senter, editor of Popular Hot Rodding, at the end of the 1971 racing season. He restored the car as a street car, featuring the restoration in articles he published in Popular Hot Rodding magazine.
The classic Tirebird has spent its life in California and Texas. The seller says it is super clean inside and out, and has been freshly restored. Invited to the 2019 Muscle Car & Corvette Nationals in Chicago, it won the Outstanding GM and Editor's Choice awards there. The Texas owner says it is "amazing to drive, in excellent condition, no squeaks or rattles and has been painstakingly restored to its original livery."
Find out more when you read our MyDreamCar.online blog this week. Then let us know what you remember about the Pontiac Tirebirds and the T/A radial's debut back in the day. You can put your stories in the comments box at the bottom of the article.

This 1932 Ford Muroc Roadster was picked as America's Most Beautiful Roadster at the 71st Grand National Roadster Show last weekend in Pomona, California. It is one of the most coveted awards that you can earn in the custom car hobby in America. We hope you were able to follow our coverage of the show and the AMBR award winners. You will want to review our report from the Grand National Roadster Show to see detailed photos of all the AMBR award contenders and the beautiful customs that were in contention for the Al Slonaker Memorial trophy as well. In fact, we did a photo gallery of all the cars shown at the show last weekend.
If you followed our coverage of the 71st Grand National Roadster Award in Pomona last weekend you may have participated as our readers picked their favorites for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster trophy. It is no surprise that our readers had a different take on which car should have won the AMBR award. They picked Walter Sigsbey's "low cut" radical 1915 Ford T-Roadster as their favorite to win the AMBR. Our readers voted eight to one over the 1932 Ford Muroc Roadster for this T-roadster called the "Leg Show T." We think our readers have "horse sense." This is a beautiful piece of car sculpture. Check out the steering column.

If there was only one car you could chose to drive, this might be it. Daniel Schmitt & Company listed this 1994 Jaguar XJ220 for sale this week. It was the fastest production car built in 1994 (faster than the Ferrari or Lamorghini.) A limited production, there were only 283 ever built. The 3.5 litre Twin Turbocharged Six Cylincer engine produced 546 horsepower and was untouchable on the tracks that year. It was a design for the ages, and will be remembered by exotic car enthusiasts as one of the all-time greats. This one comes in rare Lemans Blue, and they say it has only 1,199 miles, having spent most of its days in the Lars Anderson Auto Museum. Daniel Schmitt & Company says it comes with excellent documentation, inlcuding original books and tool kit.
This one could easily have been our DEAL of the DAY. A small classic car dealer in Florida traded for this 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder replica. He got it at such a great price that he is selling it now at what we would consider to be a "steal." When he told us about it he mentioned that he had a video. So hear is a great opportunity to own this rare 550 Spyder replica. After you view the video (click the video window above) you are going to want to grab the phone. After all, the asking price is just $28,750. Here is a link to the ad.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Pontiac's Trans Ams are among the most sought after collector cars in today's market. They represent the last of the muscle cars, the end of an era. So it is rare to find a good one for under $20,000. But here is one in our DEAL of the DAY feature this week. A 1981 Pontiac Trans Am is probably to be considered a "future collectible" because it is still too recent to consider a collector car. But it is a very desirable find for our younger collectors. This one is from a private seller in Shoreham, New York. He says it only has 37k original mlies. We will have it in our DEAL of the DAY feature on Saturday. The asking price is only $14,200.
Out of Canada comes a deal that will inspire custom car fans and builders. This 1956 Chevy Bel Air Custom Convertible is said to have been built by custom builder Jim Bailey. They say it has a 350 motor with automatic transmission, 7m500 miles since restoration, solid frame and body, excellent paint, excellent interior and excellent top. It has a custom flip up hood and they say it drives excellent. This vehicle was certified by a Canadian safety expert and is ready to drive in the U.S. Because of the currency exchange rate, an American buyer can have it for just $22,900. So it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. Hurry on this one.
They say this little 1960 Nash Metropolitan is a trophy winner. Check out the photos in the ad. It is represented to be a nice little convertible Nash in excellent condition inside and out. According to the ad copy it has a 2.0 4 cylinder motor and an automatic transmission. It looks like it has been updated with more modern technology, although not much information is included about that in the description. Call the broker company, Haggle Me to find out more about the interesting little Metropolitan. They do say you could "drive it anywhere." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $15,900.
Heavily customized, this 1949 Plymouth Custom Deluxe comes with its own interesting styling. Under the hood is a fresh 270 Baby Hemi with Clay Smith cam, Ofenhauser dual carb, dual point ignition and much more. The Midnight blue paint accentuate the simple lines with shaved doors, hood and trunk. Frenched grille from a 1955 T-Bird, Frenched headlights, electric doors, windows and antenna. The interior seats are done in tuck and roll style, as are the doors, package try, trunk, headliner matches flat and piping. Note the air conditioning, high speed light starter, rack and pinion steering, and it comes with dual exhaust with Lake pipes. Notice that it has been lowered 4 inches giving it that unique custom look.
Cars-On-Line.com newsletter readers know what we always say about classic first generation Ford Thunderbirds ... "If you find one for under $30,000 ... buy it." That has been tempered somewhat with the downtrend in collector car values in recent years, it is true. However, here is a 1957 Ford Thunderbird being offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. With a 312 ci V8, automatic transmission, power steering, porthole hardtop and engine dress-up kit, it really looks to be an excdllent driver quality car. That's what Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas tells us. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is $29,500.
For an adventurous collector who enjoys a challenge, here is a 1936 Pontiac Silver Streak that is said to be in running condition. The priate seller is in Clearwater, Florida. He says it has only 75k original miles and comes free of rust. You will note from the photos that it comes with an original engine and new original style tires. The photos seem to show a clean car. You might wan to ask the seller for more detailed photos, or have the car inspected. (When you have it inspected you will get around 100 detailed photos.) This Silver Streak is a very desirable model to acquire. The chances are that this one will need some tender loving car (or a restoration.) It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The asking price is only $15,900.
The owner of this 1971 Jeepster Commando says this is the final year for this style with the classic Jeep looking front end. He says it "has become the most desirable of all of the Jeepster Commandos." He tells us every component has been restored with some improvements or modifications. The front axle upgrade with power disc brakes, power steering, complete overhaul of the original 225 dauntless V6, new aluminum radiator, new painless wiring harness with additional capacity for lights and other electrical components. It has a new OEM dash pad, all new seat upholstery, all weather seals replaced, plus a new windshield and gasket. The wheels are original Jeepster Commander Hurst 15".
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
