For most of us collector car enthusiasts the biggest moment at this year's 2020 Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale was not about an auction sale at all. It was a reveal that took place at 9 AM on Thursday morning that was a shot heard round the collector car world. Craig Jackson, Chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson, pulled the cover off of one of his fresh restorations to reveal the actual 1967 Shelby Mustang GT500 EXP Coupe they called "Little Red." It was a prototype, an idea to build a coupe version of the Shelby Mustang in 1967. When the idea never got past the prototype stage, it was thought that Shelby America had fed Little Red to the crusher. However, without much fanfare, Little Red was discovered on March 3, 2018, in rural North Texas by a team led by Jackson and classic car restoration specialist, Jason Billups. This Shelby prototype has been one of the most sought-after and elusive vehicles in postwar history. The historic unveil took place this morning during the 49th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in Scottsdale. Among other guests, Jackson was joined by Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson; Jim Owens, Ford Mustang Brand Manager; and Aaron Shelby, grandson of Carroll Shelby. Jackson now has both Little Red and the Green Hornet, a 1968 Shelby Mustang Coupe prototype. (Photo by Craig Jackson) Click here to get more of the story.
Street rodders unite! The oldest custom car show in the country will be happening next weekend in Pomona, California. The Cars-On-Line car show team will be on the road again to cover the Grand National Roadster Show at the Pomona Fairplex. Join us for our coverage of the West Coasts biggest custom car extravaganza. This should be fun. The Grand National Roadster Show is where they chose America's Most Beautiful Roadster, the West Coast version of the Ridler Award. Next Friday, when you get your Cars-On-Line newsletter, the contenders for the AMBR will have already been chosen and we'll have all the photos for you right here on our Grand National Roadster Show blog page. Make sure you bookmark it. Then get set to vote for your favorites on our Facebook page. Our blog will be updated in real time with video interviews and a gallery of the best fresh builds at this year's show.
In case you've been living in a vacuum for the past week and haven't heard about the big news at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee, here is what you missed. The real Bullitt Mustang, a 1968 Mustang S Code Fastback driven by Steve McQueen in the fanous chase scenes from the 1968 Hollywood movie Bullitt, sold at Mecum. (Are you sitting down?) It sold for $3,7 million (with auctioneer's commission, $3.4 million at the hammer price.) Needless to say, that is a record price for a Mustang. This picture was taken by Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com while the car was sealed in a glass enclosure for public view during the auction. Click here to read his full report on the eClassicAutos.com website. Be sure to watch both videos on the page.
A Massachusetts collector was kind enough to let us know that he had SOLD his 1955 Chevrolet Del Ray. "You guys do a FANTASTIC job," he wrote in his SOLD report. "Gotta be patient sometimes. Pretty good customers out there on your site. Thanks, again, Jim." Jim had just reduced the price on his Del Ray when he notified us it was SOLD thru Cars-On-Line.
Now Jim knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... But you can sell on Cars-On-Line.com." Follow this hyperlink to see cars SOLD by private sellers in just the past week. When you see how effective a Cars-On-Line ad can be, you may want to advertise your car with Cars-On-Line.com. Click here to start your ad now.

When the Ram Air IV Pontiac GTO came out in 1969, it was the terror of the drag strips. This week, Legendary Motorcar Company has just posted this 1969 Pontiac GTO Judge with the super rare Ram Air IV equipped 400 ci V8. Combined with the round-port cast-iron headers, the new Ram Air IV was rated at 370 horsepower at 5,500 RPM; or 445 lb-ft of torque at 3,900 RPM with 10.75:1 compression and a specially calibrated Rochester Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. At least that's the story the factory told. But every gearhead knows that the real hosepower on this Ram Air IV system was actually more like 450 hp. This one, in Carousel red finish, is one of only 459 GTO Judge versions that came with the Ram Air IV intake and a 4-speed. Read more about the factory options at the link above.
When this 1956 Pontiac Star Chief Convertible was listed last week, the seller, Daniel Schmitt & Company out of St Louis, Missouri, told us it was a 100-point show car. They say the 70,591 miles on the odometer are believed to be actual. The ad copy says it has the numbers matching 317ci V8 engine, and comes with a Continental kit, dual exhaust, Hydra-Matic automatic transmission, power top, wire wheel covers and more. It is shown here in its stunning color combination of Polo White over Bolero Red with a matching ivory and red interior and white power folding convertible top. They say it performs well on the road, and has been serviced recently. This is what we mean when we use the term "investor quality."
It is a big week for Legendary Motorcar Company. They also listed a 1971 Dodge Challenger Hemi R/T, a very desirable Mopar muscle car. Yes, that is factory FE5 Bright Red paint with factory X9 black interior. It not only has a numbers matching 426/425 horsepower Hemi engine and A727 Torqueflite automatic transmission, but it comes with three broadcast sheets. Only twelve Challengers were so equipped that year. Due to the extreme rarity of this Hemi Challenger, it warranted a full concours rotisserie "cost is no object" restoration back to factory new. The body was stripped to bare metal and then block sanded and prepped for paint with great attention to detail. Read more about the restoration in the ad copy.
MS Classic Cars knows their classic cars. So when they say this 1969 Camaro Resto Mod is "magnificent in every sense of the word," it may be worth your time to take a look. Luckily they make it easy with a video feature. You'll get a tour of the ultra leather interior, see some of the awards it's accumulated, and get a look at that beautiful LS crate engine in action. Everything from the "Root Beer" PPG Deltron 2017 Dodge Ram Luxury Brown Pearl to the Billet Specialties valve covers; this one is a wonder to behold.

This 1957 Ford Thunderbird comes to us from Beverly Hills Car Club of Los Angeles, California. The Yellow and crème colors certainly draw the eye. You'll notice the air conditioning, solid wheels with whitewall tires, and original documentation as well. But the price is what we're here for. At $27,500, it slides under that $30,000 Thunderbird golden zone. There should be a bell or something.
What's better than taking out a revered classic on a fair-weather day? For the last 10 years that's what this 1952 MG TD Roadster has been up to. Now it's listed with Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia and is ready for another ride. They say it's a nice driver with a clean interior. All gauges, lights, and switches work. For someone who knows how to have a little fun; it's a 1962 Ford Econoline Pickup! It's a fresh listing from Haggle Me and they say it comes with a recently rebuilt 170ci motor that's attached to a 3-speed on column. You won't have any trouble getting some attention behind the wheel of this rare find. You can have it for just $17,500, quite a bargain potentially.
You're getting a reliable driver in this 1966 Land Rover Series IIA from Motorcar Studio of Atlanta, Georgia. They say they've been driving it regularly and are used to getting a thumbs up or two while out on the road. It's had a recent top end engine rebuild. There's a new canvas hood along with the factory safari hardtop. It features some patina inside and out, but no rust. You can see video here. The price? Just $18,900.
We may not be able to fly, but you can still get a taste of what it feels like to spread your wings if you're behind the wheel of this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am. At a reasonable price, too thanks to Super Sport Classics in Clearwater, Florida. There's a roaring 400ci V8 under the hood here. There's also a 4-speed transmission and Posi rear end. It's $23,900.
All complete with an original 455 HO, 4-speed transmission, new exhaust, and new paint; this strong running 1970 Pontiac GTO is of special note in this week's listings. It's from a private seller in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They say it comes with a Protect-O-Plate and other documentation. The owner can build it out to your specs if so desired, but as it sits, the price is a respectable $26,900.
