The impact on automotive history cannot be denied. The 1954 Dodge Royal Indy Pace Car Convertible was a marketing coup for Chrysler Corporation, the parent company of Dodge, Desoto and Plymouth. Chrysler knew it has something special when Dodge broke 196 records at the Bonneville Salt Flats. Their TV commercials and radio ads billed at the "Greatest Dodge in 40 Years." But when a 1954 Dodge Royal Convertible paced the 38th Annual Indianapolis 500 race, it cemented their place in a new era of automotive history.
We Be Autos.com, a classic car dealer and member of the Cars-On-Line.com Dealer Network, is offering this 1954 Dodge Royal Indy Pace Car Convertible for sale in beautiful condition this week. The 1954 Pace Car edition was finished in a special color, Pace Car yellow with Jewell black trim and a black convertible top. The beautiful two-door Dodge Royal was equipped with a Continental kit and Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels made specially for this car.
The car made a number of firsts for Dodge. It was the first Dodge to have power steering. It also was the first year for the Red Ram Hemi 241 ci OHV V8 engine. Wait till you see the photos. Dodge included some "hot rod" parts in this factory built car to boost it to 200 horsepower so it would have the power to pace the Indianapolis 500 championship race. Note the Offenhauser intake manifold and Carter AFB 4-barrel carburetor. These were available from your Dodge dealer that year.
Find out more about this unique 1954 Dodge Royal Indy Pace Car Convertible when you read our MyDreamCar.online blog this week. Then tell us about your memories of the early 1954 Indy Pace Car. Do you remember when cowboy actor Roy Rogers was presented with the 1954 Dodge Indy Pace Car Convertible after that race? Dodge was the sponsor for his NBC radio show that year.

Last year it became apparent that the Ford Boss 9 Mustangs were among the most valuable muscle cars based on auction prices. This week, Legendary Motorcar Company (LMC) came up with another one of these very rare Ford muscle cars. The Grabber blue 1970 Boss 429 Mustang is a legend in its own time. Only 499 Boss 9's were produced for the 1970 model year by Ford, the last year they were produced. The Boss 429 engine featured the aluminum cylinder heads which had a modified Hemi type combustion chamber. They were rated rather conservatively at 375 horsepower even though most everyone knew they boosted over 500 hp. Legendary tells us this Boss 9 has been beautifully restored, and comes fully documented. It just doesn't get any better than this.
A Chevrolet Impala SS 427 convertible is a rare big block Chevy to find in today's collector car market. So it was a pleasant surprise to see this 1968 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 Convertible listed by Fast Lane Classic Cars in St Charles, Missouri this week. Not only is it numbers matching and incredibly rare, but it also came from the factory highly optioned. From the factory, it came with Comfortron air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, “U14” Special Instrument Package (tach, oil, temp, battery), power drivers seat, power windows, power top, tilt wheel, AM/FM radio and a padded dash. Fast Lane tells us the big block was rebuilt less than 100 miles ago. It is one of less than 200 ever built.
A Canadian seller took advantage of our offer this week to include a video of his 1964 Chevy Nova SS in his Cars-On-Line.com photo ad. Wait till you hear it rumble. The seller says the sound of that exhaust really turns heads. He says this is an award winning, one-of-a-kind muscle car with a 383 stroker motor rated at 450 hp. Note the new hot rod black exterior paint and new vinyl interior. There are tons of upgrades on this street cruiser. Be sure to look at all the photos of the undercarriage. This one is nice. Click the video window above to hear it run.

Most of the hard work is done on this 1969 AMC AMX being offered for sale by a private seller in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It does need some TLC type work to finish the project. The seller says the heater controls and fuel gauge are not working. A lot of hard work is done, including the Edelbrock Air Gap Intake (ceramic coated), Holley 750 DP Carb, Comp Cams very mild cam, Forged Pistons (30 over), Hooker headers (ceramic coated), suspension and brakes.

Blackdog Performance in Lincolnshire, Illinois is offering a 1969 Camaro that looks like a COPO Camaro with the plain Jane look and stance. But under the hood is a 454 big block which has been bored out to 468 ci. The 1- 7/8-inch FlowTech headers and 2-inch exhaust make a sound that is music to a gearheads ears. Internals include a forged rotating assembly, Howards cam, Edelbrock manifold, and Holley carburetor. The Tremec TK0 500 5-speed manual transmission fits this build perfectly. There is so much more to this build. Read about it in the ad copy.
The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Serious Mopar collectors will want to check out this 1965 Plymouth Barracuda listed by Haggle Me, a classic car internet broker. They placed this ad this week calling the car a "rare find in this shape." They say the Barracuda has spent most of its time in a garage until recently. It is now owned by the third owner, spending most of its time in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. It does has the desirable 273 ci V8 engine, automatic transmission with a floor shift and comes with power steering, bucket seats and drum brakes. They say it runs and drives well. There is a list of new parts in the ad. They say it has 94k original miles. They disclose that it does burn a little oil. It comes with documentation. The Barracuda will be our featured DEAL of the DAY this week because the asking price is only $16,500.
Another internet broker called Classic Car Deals was active this week. One of their listings was a 1947 Chevrolet Stylemaster Sedan from a seller in Pennsylvania. They tell us it is all original with excellent patina. The photos seem to back up that idea. It is powered by a 6 cylinder engine with a 3-speed on the column, manual transmission. According to their notes, the engine runs as new. This Stylemaster was the EJ 1500 model for 1947. It was not much changed over the styling on the 1946 Chevrolet except that the front grille was styled differently. The original car would have been powered by a 216 ci straight-six engine driving through a 3-speed manual transmission. They say the car comes with a clean title. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price set at $14,995.
Cars-On-Line newsletter readers know the name Beverly Hills Car Club. They are oftened featured here in the DEAL of the DAY. This week they have listed a very desirable 1959 Austin Healey 100-6 BN6, the quintessential two-seater British sports car with a very unique two-tone paint job. The black with olive coves and black interior really stands out. The two-tone look is iconic for the Austin Healey sports car. This one comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, dual carburetors and wire wheels. They conclude that it is an excellent original black plate California car which is mechanically sound. Just look at the dozens of high resolution photos in the ad. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday next week because Beverly Hills Car Club is only asking $27,500 on this one.
Chicago Car Club, a classic car dealer from the midwest biggest city, has done a detailed walk-around video of this 1966 Ford Thunderbird Convertible which they have listed for a local client. It was a summertime lake home cruiser since 1972. The owner has done recent updates detailed in the ad with $3,000 in receipts just this past year. Tap this link to review the detailed video tour. They say this '66 T-Bird is a well known, well-documented car going back nearly fifty years. They also note that it wears an older paint job and shows its wear in some areas. This one would be a good car to have inspected befrore you buy it to get a better idea of its condition class. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week because the price point is only $14,500.
Here is a recent restoration from Corpus Christi, Texas. The private party seller says the photos were taken just before they finished the resto so some parts were still being assembled as they took the photos. This is a 1961 Ford F100 Pickup which has been endowed with some performance upgrades. 1961 was the first year for the uni-body front end at Ford. They say this one has undergone a complete restoration. The Ford 302 V8 is said to be brand new with only 300 miles on it. It still has brake-in oil. The motor is bored .030 over with a mild cam, dual plane aluminum intake maniforld, HEI distributor with 8mm plug wires and a front runner serpentine belt and GM 1-wire 75 amp alternator. The carb is a 600 cfm Holley with vacuum secondary. Read all about the Mustang shorty headers and AOD transmission in the ad copy. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. The asking price is onlly $16,850.
Another offering from Beverly Hills Car Club has made our DEAL of the DAY this week. They listed this 1964 Mercedes-Benz 220 SE which is a highly desirable Sunroof Coupe. The color combination of Navy blue with a red interior is very desirable for collectors as well. It comes with a 4-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, factory sunroof, and includes the jack and spare tire. As always, you should have it inspected before you buy. But you really have to hurry on this one because it will be our DEAL of the DAY next week (if it lasts that long.) There is no extra charge for the nice patina. Beverly Hills Car Club states that this Mercedes is mechanically sound. They are asking just $14,750.
Pricewise, this is probably the best deal on the Cars-On-Line website today. Here is a 1997 Ford F-150 Custom which was custom built to be a show truck.
