A Bloomberg Report this week sites the early Dodge Vipers as a top "future collector car" idea for 2020. Many of the early Vipers are available for affordable prices in today's collector car market. The Bloomberg report penned by Hannah Elliott titled "Ten Surprising Collectible Cars to Invest In for 2020", has the Dodge Viper as their top pick. The first year 1993 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster you see pictured here is being offered for sale by a private seller from Canada. (Click this link to view his video ad.) It is one of only 1,043 built in the second year of the first generation Vipers. They say it has only 6k original miles. The article says 1996 to 2002 are the best years to consider as collector cars when the GTS version was available. We tend to think the first generation Vipers are still very affordable and have a better chance to appreciate in value.

February is not the busiest month for car shows (for weather reasons usually.) But this month there are some very important car shows coming up on our schedule. This weekend we will be visiting the Chicago Auto Show, the oldest "New Car Show" in the country where the major automotive manufacturers will all be on hand to show off their newest models. Although we have already seen the new 2020 Corvette and the Mustang Mach-E at the Barrett-Jackson Auction this year, we will be reviewing them again in Chicago. We'll also be looking at the new Jeep Rubicon Pickup truck from Fiat-Chrysler. You will find the Chicago Auto Show report on our ClassiCarNews blog site this weekend.

Think about it. How many Grabber Orange 1970 Boss 429 Mustangs have you ever seen? This 1970 Boss 9 Mustang is being sold out of a private collection in Neosho, Missouri. The seller notes that only five colors were available on the Boss 9's that year. Is this one the most rare? The owner says it is "all numbers matching" and comes with a Deluxe Marti Report and a partial build sheet (seen in the ad.) What is amazing is that this semi-hemi Boss 9 is said to have only 19,000 original miles. The seller says it is in mint condition with a "mostly" original interior. He says a recent restoration was just completed. This is the real deal.

Ever wonder where the top show cars in the country go when their time in the limelight is over? Cars-On-Line readers will remember when Jim Farley's 1932 Ford "V8 Flyer" Roadster was a contender for the America's Most Beautiful Roadster award in 2013. It was later featured in The Rodder's Journal (Issue # 59). It was built by Dave Simard of East Coast Custom with Farley's vision of how a 1950's Indy race car might have been fashioned. The 4.6L Ford V8 is themed to look as though it were a Flathead with velocity stacks. Notice the torsion bar suspension. He wanted it to look like something Frank Kurtis or A.J. Watson might have built back in the day. The photos show the hairpin wishbones, disc brakes and Halibrand wheels. What an exciting piece of history, preserved to fit in your collection. This 2003 Jeff Gordon Monte Carlo SS #24 Special Edition was a collector car from birth. That is probably why it still has only 7,902 actual miles from new. Although this 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K replica looks very sharp in the photos, it has a knock in the motor. So says Chicago Car Club in Illinois. They tell us it has 9,112 miles on the build. They also indicate that the finish has hairline cracks and some checking. However their price is only $7,250. For the right buyer, there is room to profit on this one.

This week's PRICE REDUCED feature car is a 1973 Corvette Pro Street from Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The owner tells us he has over $125k invested. It has a 540 ci monster motor boosting 725hp. A 1970 Pontiac GTO with Judge stripes is a real deal GTO and has the extra emblem package and stripes to make it look like a Judge. Specialty Sales Classics in Benicia, California tells us it is a PHS certified GTO which only has 45k miles, factory air conditioning and factory hood tach. Here is an intriguing find from Chicago Car Club this week. It is a 1930 Duesenberg Murphy Roadster replica just listed from a collection of replicas they scored in Michigan. We have never seen one before. It has a GM based 350 power plant and a rumble seat. They say there are only 10k miles on the build. We think you'll agree that it looks very nice in the photos, although the video walk-around points out some of the problems with this older build. Click here to view the video. But this is a unicorn, a build you won't see very often. The price is really interesting for the right buyer. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because they are only asking $12,900. This one won't last long.

Collectors who are most concerned about authenticity and originality will be thrilled to view this rare 1939 Hudson Tudor Club Coupe. It is being offered for sale by a collector in Afton, Wyoming. It is not often that you get to see one of these. It has that distinctive look, often confused for a 1940 Ford with the teardrop headlamps. The unique styling also includes one-of-a-kind tail lights, reverse opening hood, the split back window and the standard fender skirts. They say this car is a driver, driven every year in nice weather. The turn signals were added as aftermarket. This will be a great find for the right type of collector. It will also be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The price is affordable at $18,500.

Fast Lane Classic Cars out of St Charles, Missouri is offering a great little price leader this week. It is a 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Convertible with a 164 ci flat 6 cylinder motor and dual carbs. They say it has had the same owner since 2012. The car is equipped with automatic transmission, black soft top, updated gray cloth bucket seat interior, upgraded AM/FM stereo, aftermarket air conditioning, front and rear seat belts, dual exterior mirrors and 15" chrome Cragar SS wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. They are asking $14,995.

In 1957, the Studebaker company came out with a completely new look for their Commander model. Seldom seen today, the 1957 Studebaker Commander you see pictured here is available for sale at Midwest Car Exchange in Alsip, Illinois. This car won SDC (Studebaker Drivers Club) awards at their South Bend, Indiana nationals. The first award was for the Survivor Category in 2017, and then won again after it was restored in 2019. It is equipped with the 259 ci V8, 2-barrell carburetor, three-on-a-tree manual transmission and they say all the intruments work. It has had a lot of important maintenance updates (all listed in the ad description.) So it will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week because the asking price is only $15,900. That's a lotta' car for the money.

Here is a completely "done" resto rod with rare appeal. It is a 1937 Chevrolet Tudor Humpback Sedan with a very original look and feel, but having been redone with more recent technology. It comes with a custom interior, tach, power disc front brakes, wood grain steering wheel, and touch screen GPS navigation, backup camera, and SXM radio plus Bluetooth. Most important it does have a Mustang II front suspension, manual rack n pinion steering and power windows. It also comes with American Torque Thrust wheels, aluminum radiator, and block hugger headers. This is a very desirable find espeically for the price. It will be our Deal of the Day later next week. The asking price is only $24,999.

It may be a bit of a restoration project, but here is a 1947 Kaiser Special Sedan. Rarely seen, these post-war Kaisers remind our readers of the European luxury cars of the same era. The private seller from Citrus Heights, California says it is very nice ans well preserved for its age. It has a black finish over the brown interior. You will notice some tears in the upholstery so it needs some TLC at the very least. The prospective buyer must know it will take work. It comes with a 226 ci Flathead 6 cylinder motor and 3-speed manual transmission. The body was designed by Dutch Darrin with Art Deco influences. He says the original radio works, and it comes with the original fog lamps, bumper guards and full wheel covers. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is reasonable at $15,000. Or you could just make an offer.

Here is a 1950 Studebaker Champion, the iconic bullet nosed Studebaker that everyone remembers. It is being offered for sale by Classic Auto Showplace in Troy, Michigan (Detroit area.) The photos show a better than average condition. Look at the interior shots and the engine. It would seem fairly clean. That is way better than most of the examples we've seen in recent years. As you would expect, it has the 6 cylinder flathead engine with a 3-speed manual transmission. They has listed it as having 37k miles. The photo of the back seat area looks very clean. You would want to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week because their asking price is only $12,500.
