Almost forgotten in the collector car world, a 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS Z-24 with the big block 427 is rarely seen these days. One has just been listed by a Chevrolet muscle car collector from Wisconsin. He says you won't find another one this nice anywhere for the money.
The Z-24 427 Impala Super Sport was only offered in 1967 through 1969. With only 2,124 produced in 1967, the L36 Z-24 was rated at 385 hp by Chevrolet. It came with a special domed hood with a chromed non-functional air vent, heavy-duty suspension and a front anti-sway bar. With 10.25:1 compression, it made 460 lb-ft of torque at 3,400 rpm. But Chevrolet did not market the Impala SS 427 as it did many of its other big block models. Maybe because it was a full size car (nearly 18 feet long), they didn't think of it as much as a performance muscle car. It was almost like they wanted to keep it a secret.
This Wisconsin car is all numbers matching, according to the description. The seller says it was a rust free Texas car when it underwent a highly detailed restoration. He says the underside is as nice as the top. Highly optioned, it has power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning, a Turbo 400 automatic transmission, stereo 8-track, tach, gauges and a speed-minder. With bucket seats and a console, the interior boosts a wood tilt steering wheel, deluxe seat belts, tinted glass and a rear antenna. Documentation includes the original sales order and a Protect-O-Plate. Trailered to shows, it has won multiple awards. It has only 200 miles on the car since the redo.
Finding a 1967 Chevrolet Impala SS 427 like this one in this kind of condition is a collector's dream. You might follow this link to find out that the price is pretty affordable, too. An historic car.

Growing up in the hobby you just knew that the Carlisle Car Show was one of the biggest car shows and swap meets in the country. Well, it still is. And not even Covid could tarnish its status in the collector car community. The Fall Carlisle Collector Car Flea Market, Car Corral and Auction will be held Sept 30-Oct 4, 2020. at the Carlisle, Pennsylvania Fairgrounds. And, yes, the Fall Carlisle Auction is also a "go" for October 1-2, 2020. With so little to look forward to this year in the way of car shows, this is exciting news for the collector car hobby. They are currently taking consignments and bidder registration is open. Click here to find out more about the big Fall Carlisle Auction.
But you don't have to wait until October to get in on some hot auction action. One of Cars-On-Line's favorite collector car auctions is coming up in a few weeks in Youngsville, North Carolina. The Raleigh Classic is set for August 21-22 at the Captiol Auto Auction facility there. They just announced that this 1963 Oldsmobile 98 Starfire Convertible will be offered in the sale on Saturday, August 22, at No Reserve. Be sure to register to bid to get in on the action. There are three ways you can bid. You can bid live at the auction, or on the internet, or on the phone. It will only cost you $100 to register to bid. Here is a list of cars being offered in the sale. This could be fun.

Here is one from Daniel Schmitt & Company in St Louis which really merits note here. They listed an exceptional 1957 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible for sale. It is just out of a private collection, and comes in its stunning color combination of Dakota Red over a red and white leather interior with a white power convertible top. The odometer only shows 41,832 miles. A lot of options were available back then, including air-conditioning, 6-way power leather seats, chrome Sabre wheels and a 3-piece parade boot. It even has the Autotronic Eye (automatic headlight dimmer.) Only 1,800 Eldorado Biarritz convertibles were ever built in 1957. Daniel Schmitt & Company tell us it is the finest example they have ever had.
Every street rodder's dream car is a Willys Pro Street (1940 or 1941) like the ones you saw running drag strips back in the day. This week, Streetside Classics in the Tampa area has come up with the "baddest Willys" you could imagine. It is a 1941 Willys Pro Street with a Keith Black blown 426 Hemi. Put in yer' ear plugs. This dual-quad supercharged Hemi V8 makes 900 horsepower. If you want to make the scene at your local car show this Willys will do the trick. But Streetside tells us this car was carefully crafted to make it a professional grade build. Be sure to check the photos of the interior with alligator leather inserts. Lots of creature comforts here, with power windows, a cup holder center console, and an AM/FM/CD stereo with aux input. It is a thoughtful combination of luxury and serious performance.
New for the 1969 model year, the 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix included features like dramatic bodywork, a highly pronounced grille, and the new "G-body." This represents the first year of the new Grand Prix second generation model. It has a 400ci V8 motor, a TH400 3-speed auto, and 10-bolt rear end. Watch the video above and get even more with a second video feature where the seller, Legendary Motors of Massachusetts, allows you to inspect the undercarriage.

It's hard to argue the claim We Be Autos is making about this 1959 Cadillac Series 62—that it's one of the best you'll find. It's been meticulously cared for, has beautiful black paint, and has only 10,000 miles. Watch the video here. What an amazing find. You know, it's all about the fins.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
A Wisconsin man owned this 1973 Corvette Coupe for 15 years. He says the red Corvette has a solid frame, fresh paint and a 350 ci V8 engine with a 4-speed. The intrior is black vinyl and he says it is very clean. With only 9,000 miles on the motor he figures there is a lot of use lef tin this classic Corvette. He says the engine was rebuilt by Gopher Engines. It has a rebuilt transmission, new radiator and he says the chrome is perfect. Look at the photos. It sure does present well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $17,999.
A Minnesota collector is thinning his herd. He is offering this 1923 Ford Model T Roadster for sale this week. You won't believe the price! With excellent paint and body, the all-steel roadster is an aspiring example of the early American sports car. The seller says this one is just begging to be driven in a parade. He says it has a rebuilt engine, new interior and new top. It looks really sharp in the photos. We haven't seen on this nicely detailed in a long time. You could own a sweet piece of automotive history here. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday just in time for a Sunday drive. The asking price is only $16,500.
This 1937 Ford Flatback Sedan may be more of a restoration project than a turn key ready ride. But it has so much going for it we thought we would show it to you here. The seller from Riverside, California is leaving on a mission trip, so he won't be able to finish his dream car. Your gain. It is a rust-free, 30-year barn find. He says it is amazing how dry and straight this car is. He says it is solid with an original 21-stud 85 hp Flathead V8. According to the description, the car has been rewired with cloth harness, dropped Posie front end, reworked rear leafs, mechanical brakes and has had the glass replaced. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. He is asking $19,500.
By the end of World War II, the Dodge Power Wagon had gained quite a reputation as a rugged all-terrain vehcile. Dodge later applied the name to its heavy duty work trucks such as this 1971 Dodge Power Wagon seen here. It is being offered for sale this week by Country Classics in Staunton, Illinois. (If you haven't been out to see Country Classics and their sprawling collector car lot, you have to put it on your bucket list. Last time we were there they had over 1,000 old cars and trucks sitting around there in various stages of condition.) This one is a short bed from the Sweptline 4X4 lineup. It has a big block 383 V8. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week. They are asking just $18,650.
This 1970 GMC Sierra 2500 will fool you. It looks like a mild mannered little pickup, but it is a beast of a 3/4-Ton truck. It is powered by a 427 ci V8 and has the Monster 4L80E automatic transmission to back it up. Cllassic Car Liquidators has it for sale this week. It comes with a Sunpro tach, front power disc brakes, dual exhaust, trailer brake controller, aluminum wheels, new shocks, fully rebuilt suspension, rebuilt rear end, TCI electronic TPS, TCI tranny controller and rear air bag helpers. It even has Vintage air and heat. Don't wait till you see it on the front page in the DEAL of the DAY next week. You can call them now. The asking price is only $19,999.
Another car coming out of that Minnesota collection is this rare 1964 Oldsmobile Dynamic 88 Convertible. The seller says it shows no rust and handles and drives very well. The photos show the interior. The seller says the upholstery refurbishment was a first class job. There were over 10,000 Dynamic 88 convertibles made that year, which was good for a striker shortened year. Not many Oldsmobile convertibles are left from that era however. This one is in such nice condition that it would be worth having a pre-purchase inspection done. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. Be sure to check it out before it reaches our home page.
The phrase "Do Your Thing" came out of the Hippie Movement in the 1960's. A song by Isaac Hayes in 1971 defined the feeling. Volkswagen, to their credit, then came out with one of the wackiest vehicles they've ever produced. They called it the VW THING. The explanation was that it was a replica of the desert vehicles Germany used in WWII. The hip name and unusual look of this vehicle made it a cultural icon of the age. Today there is a 1974 VW THING for sale in the Volkswagen Section of the Cars-On-Line website. It has a 1776 cc engine built by BnR Buggy with approximately 1000 miles on it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The private seller is only asking $10,000.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
