As Carroll Shelby was a larger than life personality, he is remembered for building the ultimate Dream Car, the Shelby 427 Cobra. No other car has been copied and recreated more than the little Cobra. Songs commemorate it, celebrities tried to own them and wealthy car enthusiasts have always used them as status symbols. And that is for good reason. Because the grit of it is they are just the quickest and fastest cars on the planet.
Today this original red 1966 Shelby 427 Cobra with the black interior is as authentic and original as they come, according to Legendary Motorcar Company. They restored this example in 2013. Check the ad page for more photos and a detailed ownership history. The 427 engine is topped with a factory dual quad setup as was the case for the first run of real 427 cars. It still makes a thunderous noise which cannot be mistaken for anything but a factory built 427 Cobra, the real Ford side-oiler motor.
Follow this link to the COL blog page to read a detailed history of the Shelby 427 Cobra and find out more about why these cars are so revered by collectors today. Then tell us about your 427 Cobra stories in the comments section below the article. We love to hear your stories.

The world's most talked-about car show, the Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance, has been cancelled for 2020, it was announced this week. "Knowing that entrants, judges, volunteers and guests face ongoing health concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic," officials of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance announced in a news release on Wednesday that they would cancel the show scheduled for August 16, 2020. The Concours chairman, Sandra Button, said that some of their overseas entrants would have to be transporting their cars to the U.S. She said the cancellation needed to be announced now to keep their registered entrants from the inconvenience of shipping their cars here and then finding out they would need to cancel. The 70th Annual Pebble Beach Concours D'Elegance is now set for Sunday, August 15, 2021.
We sure do appreciate it when our advertisers let us know about their successful sales. This week, when a private seller from Callao, Virginia SOLD his 1949 Ford F1 Pickup he was kind enough to let us know right away. In fact, he was excited. "Thanks again Cars On Line. 2nd Successful sale on your website!" That's what Richard wrote in after marking his 1949 Ford F1 Truck SOLD not too long after placing his Run Till Sold ad!
There is still a strong market for classic cars. Check out the SOLD Section below to find out what has sold in the past week. Some sections of the country are really moving collector cars. I guess people would rather invest in old iron in these troubled times than in the stock market.
We are encouraging buyers to use our COL Inspection Service rather than going out to inspect the vehicles themselves. Our inspectors will do a pre-purchase inspection and appraisal of the car you want to buy. They will be able to give you a good idea of the condition classes on these cars. This is the safest way for you to buy collector cars for the next few weeks. Please, stay healthy out there.

Mark Schiliro, owner of MS Classic Cars, has one of the rarest muscle cars on the market right now. He says his 1970 Mercury Boss 302 Cougar Eliminator is one of the finest in existence. Mercury muscle car fans will have a chance to own this one since Mark is now offering it for sale. Not only is it in the Cars-On-Line Mercury Muscle Car Section online now, but he just announced that he will enter it in the first ever Barrett-Jackson Online Only Auction, scheduled for May 8-17, 2020. All bidding will be done online. It is one of only 469 Boss 302 Mercury Cougar Eliminators ever built and one of only 323 produced with the 4-speed manual transmission. The full rotisserie restoration was finished in 2008. Since then it has won over 30 prestigious awards (all listed in the descripition.) It was also featured on Power Nation TV. Here is a real find for the average muscle car collector. It is a 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W-30 that is affordably priced. Because it is a "driver quality" muscle car, it is being offered by a private seller from Dyersburg, Tennessee for just $42,000. The only repaint was done in 1978 and is now showing some checking. The car does not have air conditioning but does come with power steering, power brakes and the popular His/Her shifter. The seller says this is an "all numbers matching" muscle car (with the exception of the carburetor and distributor.) He says the VIN tag, door, block, transmission and rear end stampings all match. This is the right opportunity for many buyers who do not need a show car.
Once again the big Spring Carlisle Car Show has been reset to a new date, pushed back another month because of the Coronavirus outbreaks. With the new dates for the Carlisle Show and Swap Meet set for June 17-20, 2020, the Carlisle Auction has also been reset for June 18-19, 2020. Cars-On-Line.com newsletter readers follow the Carlisle Auction closely since it is one of the really fun events for buying and selling cars in the country. This auction has been rescheduled twice. The inventoy scheduled for the June auction is interesting.
A fine array of true vintage classic cars will be on hand to bid on. This 1930 Cadillac Town Sedan is representative of the classics which will steal your hearts when they cross the auction block in June. This one has the Fisher Town Sedan body, and is just off display at the AACA Museum in Hershey, Pennsylvania. They say it is in show and touring condition. It will go to the highest bidder when the Carlisle Auction convenes at the show grounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
This 1961 Corvette Fuelie Convertible will be offered for sale to the highest bidder at the Carlisle Auction, June 18-19 this summer. They say it is a numbers matching 4-speed which has won Bloomington Gold honors. Note the Fuelie setup in the photos. It is one of the many classic sports cars in the sale. You will get a chance to bid on this special Corvette at the Carlisle Auction. Get bidder information here.
Jacked up custom Off-Road vehicles are all the rage in the collector car hobby right now. There looks to be a good selection of them for sale here at the Carlisle Auction in June. This one is a 1998 Jeep Wrangler which they tell us has been completely restored as a custom Off-Roader. They say it is like new, runs and handles great.

Although the wind noise is a little irritating, we had to bring you this rare Camaro muscle car video here. MGM Classics in Addison, Illinois just got in this 1969 Berger Camaro from the West Coast. The Berger Camaros are like the Yenko, Fred Gibb and Nickey Camaros from back in the day. Berger Chevrolet from Michigan was one of the leading "hot rod" dealers building big block Camaros for their drag racing customers. Back then you could buy a hopped up 427 Camaro from the dealer and virtually take it right out to the track and compete. These cars are very desirable to muscle car collectors today. Click the video window above to enjoy seeing one of the most desirable Camaro big block collector cars in the flesh.

This week's PRICE REDUCED feature car is a 1941 Willys Coupe being offered by a private seller from St Cloud, Florida. Our newsletter readers may remember when we featured it after we saw it at the Turkey Run some time back. Put your earplugs in. This Ford 460 ci is stroked to 502 and fed by a BDS 871 blower producing 700 horsepower. The whole car is awesome, though. It has an Outlaw body and chassis, custom house of colors paint, Black cherry with ghost flames. When the Florida private seller first listed it he wanted $115,000. But just this week he dropped the price to $100,000. Got an offer in mind?

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
We know that literally thousands of Chevy fans are interested in the ever popular Chevelle muscle cars. Whenever we post them on Facebook we get those kinds of numbers "liking" our Chevelle posts. Here is a 1969 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. There, one of their clients has this Code # 40 Butternut Yellow coupe for sale with a black interior. It is equipped with an automatic transmission and a 307 ci V8 engine, power steering, black vinyl top, 4-wheel disc brakes and Cragar wheels. It comes with documentation from 1994 through 2019, showing over $7,000 in service having been performed on the car. It has had the same owner for many years and they tell us it is in mechanically sound condition. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $13,750.
True cruiser styling helps this very original 1951 Chevrolet Styleline Deluxe create its stunning look and stance. From the rear fender skirts and color matched wheels to the headlight eyebrows and the alloys sun visor, this road worthy 1950's cruiser really stands out. It is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics out of their Nashville, Tennessee store. They say the reliable 235 ci inline 6 cylinder motor is believed to be orignal. They say the color is also original to the car. Check the interior photos on the ad page to note the art deco instrument cluster on the dash. Subtle upgrades include tinted windows and wool-like woven inserts for the seats. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is only $19,995.
During the past year we have seen spurts of interest in imported sports cars from the 1970's and 1980's as trending among car collectors. Some Gen-X'ers are looking for the little Mazda RX-7 sports cars from that era. Here is a 1983 Mazda RX-7 which has been with the same owner for 36 years. It is the desirable GSL model. For sale now, the Northville, Michigan seller says it is all original and still remains "like new," with low miles. There are 76,000 miles now showing, and he says it is loaded with all options offered that year, including air conditioning, power windows, premium radio, rear wiper, cruise control and the targa top. He says it comes with new tires, battery and clutch. He notes that it has always been babied and garage kept. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. His asking price is $10,900.
Here is a hot rodded 1948 Chrysler Coupe, sort of a starter car for the low budget hobbyist who wants to drive his project as he improves on it. It has a cool, almost rat rod type appeal. The very cool hot rod with a 1971 dated 340 ci Mopar engine and a 727 Torqueflite automatic transmission. The Illinois seller tells us it is a strong runer. Note that it has front disc brakes, rack & pinion steering, electronic ignition and a Be Cool aluminum radiator. The seller says "no leaks, everything works." It has a push button starter. This would be a good one to have inspected before you buy so you now what you are getting into. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $11,395.
The frenzy of European buyers trying to buy classic sports cars here in the U.S. has waned a bit because of the Coronavirus pandemic. So you are going to see prices drop a little on these classic European sports cars which were marketed here in North America back in the day. Take, for example, this 1982 Mercedes-Benz 280 SL Roadster from Port Coquitlam, BC Canada. Noting the drop in buyers, this Canadian seller is marketing his precious sports car at a very attractive price. He notes that this is the desirable European Edition Mercedes with the Euro front valance styling. He says it has only 132,544 miles (very low miles for a Mercedes), and the 2.8 liter German motor with a 4-speed manual transmission. It comes with air conditioning and the seller says it has been well cared for and in good condition throughout. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. He is asking $18,000.
You all know about the hot trend toward Off-Road vehicles in the car hobby today. Custom 4X4's are hot. So here is a 2006 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with all the toys, and a very affordable price tag. You have to see all the photos of this great Off-Road vehicle. It has been customizd with a 4.5" Currie suspension lift and has 35-inch tires with Smittybilt front and rear bumpers. Note the removable doors and receiver hitch with Mickey Thompson wheels. It is equipped with side steps, tachometer, power steering, power brakes, center console and has air conditioning. You might want to have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY by the end of next week. The asking price is $17,999.
We are not surprised to find that there is another great Mercedes SL roadster which will be offered for sale this week at a great price. Here is a 1981 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL Roadster being offered by Laguna Classic Cars out of Laguna Beach, California. They are selling this low-miles Mercedes roadster for their local client. They say it has 96k miles, and runs and drives well with all systems functional. This one comes with the 3.8 liter V8 engine with fuel injection. They tell us it is beautifully maintained with a frsh respray of the original color paint. Watch this walk-around video to note the outstanding interior. It comes with the removable hard top and soft top, power door locks and power antenna which actually still works. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is $16,500
