We've had our share of 1969 Dodge Daytona Chargers for sale here on the Cars-On-Line website, but none have more provenance than this B4 Bright Red version being offered here for the first time in over 40 years.
This week, the 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger was listed for sale by Eric's Muscle Cars out of Maryland. (Click here to see more photos on their website.) This car was featured in a six-page layout in Muscle Machines magazine in 2016. But, at that time the owner was never going to sell it. He acquired the car in around 1978, so it has been over 42 years since it was on the market.
With matching numbers front to back, it comes with an original build sheet. The all original body panels make it one of the most desirable muscle cars on the planet. Looking at the driver's view of the dash, there is the tic-toc-tach to the driver's left with the speedomter center. It has power steering and a woodgrain steering wheel.
This B4 Bright Red 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger was originally purchased by Don Butler, the owner of Perry Raceway in Perry, New York. At the time, he used the visually dramatic Daytona Charger as the Pace Car for his race track. With the 18-inch nose cone and a huge wing which stood 23 inches off the deck, the car was spectacular enough to make it interesting for race fans who came to his track. But Butler further enhanced it with a gaudy race track themed paint job. The car was so well known that Greenlight Collectibles made a 1/64th scale discast of it, calling it the Perry Raceway Pace Car. This is the way our 1969 Dodge Daytona Charger looked back when it was the pace car for Perry Raceway as represented in diecast.
If you are a NASCAR fan, you will want to read the whole story on this very interesting Mopar collector car. Follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog page where we retell the story of the Daytona Charger and how it dominated NASCAR back in the day.

Collectors who were hoping to get a chance to bid on Ken Miles "Flying Mustang" will have to wait a bit now. The 1965 Shelby GT350R prototype which Miles drove at the Green Valley Raceway in February of 1965 will be auctioned off at the Mecum Spring Auction in Indianapolis. The late Ken Miles was recently remembered in the movie Ford v Ferrari. He was a close friend to Carroll Shelby and a remarkably talented race car driver and mechanic. He drove this 1965 Shelby GT350R to its first victory in SCCA. It was the first time a Shelby GT350 competition version had been raced and was a warning shot to the racing world. This car was later driven by many of the top names in road racing. The car is being offered from the John Atzbach Collection. Several of Atzbach's cars will be offered at the Mecum Auction at Indy. The auction, though, had to be rescheduled due to the current Coronavirus pandemic. Originally scheduled for May 12-17, the Mecum Auction has now been rescheduled for June 23-28.
We do love it when our advertisers tell us about their sales. Here is a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 340 which our readers may remember from when it was originally listed here in the newsletter. The seller from Hastings, New York complimented Cars-On-Line's advertising impact in the collector car market.
"Great exposure," he told us. "Lots of tire kickers and low ballers, but that can be expected. If I ever decide to sell my next car I will use Cars-On-Line for sure." That's what Len wrote to us after marking his 1968 Dodge Dart GTS SOLD using our $45.00 Run Till Sold ad.
Check out the SOLD Section below to find out what has sold in the past week. Some sections of the country are really moving collector cars. A classic car dealer from Minnesota told us he has sold 17 cars since the stock market crashed here recently. I guess people would rather invest in old iron in these troubled times.
As you may have read in last week's newsletter, we are encouraging people to use our COL Inspection Network in these troubled times. We support our government's efforts to keep people safe at home. Our inspectors will be able to give you a good idea of the condition classes on these cars. This is the safest way for you to buy collector cars for the next few weeks. Please, stay healthy out there.

Tom from MGM Classics in Addison, Illinois did a video when he got this 1977 Pontiac Trans Am with the Bandit Edition paint and decals and the Hurst T-tops. It is not an actual Y-82 Bandit, but it does have the paint. Tom gives you a nice walk-around on this driver quality car. The walk-around video becomes a virtual inspection. Only with a video can you get this kind of presentation.

You will find it in the showroom at Classic Promenade in Phoenix, Arizona. They tell us it still has only 5,800 original miles. And they have the documentation to prove it. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page!
During the past week we have seen some great cars being listed at very attractive and affordable prices. Whether this is a sign of the times or just an aberration, it doesn't matter. This is an opportunity you may not see again in our lifetime. So let's look at this triple black 1968 Corvette Big Block Convertible with a 4-speed manual transmission. Does it get any better than this? The seller is Bayou Classic Cars & Customs out of Parks, Louisiana. They say it has a new convertible top and rubbers, new Holley carb, new high torque starter with MSD box and distributor, ceramic plug wires and a new wire harness and fuse box. This might be a good one to have inspected. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $20,000. Hurry, though. It won't last long.
A 1948 Packard Deluxe Eight Touring Sedan was just posted yesterday by Connors Motorcar Company in W. Chester, Pennsylvania. You can see from the photos that it takes a great picture. The Burgundy paint with the tan cloth interior gives it a rich look that complements its vintage lines. Under the hood is a 288 ci Straight 8 motor, one of those bullet proof Packard engines, mated to a 3-speed w/Overdrive. "It runs and drives great!" says Carlo Connors. The high res photo of the odometer shows low miles. Call Carlo to find out if that is original. Even if this is just a driver quality car the price is right. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is $19,500.
Bayou Classics & Customs also has an interesting old school 1930 Dodge Rat Custom Pickup at a very interesting price point. Obviously, it is a bit of a project. From the description we find out that it has a small block Chevy with aluminum Edlebrock intake and a hot rod tri-carb setup with headers and baffles. It comes with an aluminum radiator with electric fan, Turbo 350 automatic transmission with a tall Lokar shifter. This is a straight axle car with a leaf spring over the axle, and radius rods. The 4-bar rear suspension also has coil overs. They used an S10 rear end. A lot of new items are listed in the ad copy. They say it runs and drives well. The best part is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is $10,750.
Sometimes we take ourselves so seriously that we can't just have fun. Here is a 1953 Chevrolet Pickup that someone made into a roadster, kind of like the early 1920's roadster pickups. There is no top so you might consider it a project in the making. It has updated 12-volt eletronic ignition, a new carburetor and all the gaugess work. From the photos we conclude that it is a starter truck that needs finishing, or at least, your own special touches. It comes from a private seller in Deland, Florida. He says it "runs and drives great!" It comes with new tires and new brakes. You will see it featured on our front page next week in the DEAL of the DAY feature. The asking price is $9,500.
A private seller in St Charles, MIssouri listed his 1962 Pontiac Catalina Ventura for sale this week. The Ventura was produced by Pontiac from 1960 through 1970. It was considered a full sized car back in the day with a 122-inch B body wheelbase which it shared with the Pontiac Catalina. By 1962, however, the name was relegated to a trim level designation on the Catalina. This one comes with a 389 ci V8 motor and Turbo 400 transmission. The seller says it has just 89,000 miles and has had recent exhaust, front disc brake work and an aluminum radiator. He says it is a great driver and comes with some paperwork from Pontiac Historical Society. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $18,500.
Here is one that may be a bit of a project. Not for the average buyer, but it looks pretty solid in the photos. You really have to have it inspected to know what you are getting into here. But Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California is offering a 1959 Triumph TR3 Roadster for sale. You can tell from the photos that it would need at least some cosmetic work on the exterior and some interior refurbishing. If the inspection proves that car is solid it could be an easy restoration. It comes equipped with a manual transmission, dual carburetors, soft top, side curtains, and solid wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week because the asking price is only $10,750.
When you see the video walk-around of this 1965 Mercury Marauder Hardtop you might be like me and want to buy it just off the video presentation. It has an NOM Mercury 427 big block motor which was available in the '65 models, but this one comes with dual quads and a born-with manual 4-speed. It is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics out of their Tampa location. They themselves say it is so nice to see "that sharply creased sheetmetal looking so good and aligned so well." With bucket seats and a center console, this was the hot setup back in the day for a 2-Door hardtop. Click here to view the walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week with an asking price of $27,995. You don't get a muscle car like this very often for that price.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
