Young America was ready. As the post-war Baby Boomers were coming of age, the first American muscle car appeared. It was the 1964 Pontiac GTO which started a revolution in the stodgy old-line automotive industry. The GTO would leave the other manufacturers scrambling to catch up. The muscle car era had been born.
When Haggle Me, a classic car broker in the midwest, listed this triple black 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible for sale this week it caused quite a stir in the Pontiac community. (Follow this link to view photos and ad description.) The GTO was the first of a generation of factory built high performance sports cars (now refered to as muscle cars) coming out of Detroit.
Coming from the factory with its A-1 Midnight Black finish and a black interior, this GTO came with the top engine package, a 389 ci V8 with three 2-barrel carburetors. And, yes, it was ordered with the factory 4-speed with a Hurst shifter. Haggle Me tells us that the engine has the correct 76X Block with a date code of E234, meaning it was built on May 23, 1964. They say the M-20 transmission is original to the car, and has the VIN code intact on the transmission. The ragtop looks to have been changed to black for that cool triple black look. This "Goat" also has power steering, power top, Safety Track rear end, Red Line tires, a factory console and optional padded dash. The private seller says it runs "as good as it looks."
For more information on the first year GTO follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog site. There you will find production numbers and more history on how the GTO was born. Don't forget to tell us your GTO stories in the comment section below the article.

The COVID-19 virus has stopped a lot of commerce. Cars-On-Line.com is not immune from this scary business climate. Yet, adversity is the mother of innovation. There are some good values on the market right now. Look at the SOLD Thru COL feature below. The number of vehicles SOLD on our website has not subsided. One of the reasons is that more and more buyers are using the COL inspection service to inspect and appraise cars that they cannot go and inspect themselves. We've always said that having Cars-On-Line's network of inspectors prepare a five-page condition report is like having your best friend look at a car for you. Our inspectors are independent contractors working only for you, the buyer. Why not give it a try? Click here to read about the Cars-On-Line Inspection Service. Be sure to review the sample reports. You can place an order by clicking the tab that says "Place Order," and filling out the information. Sorry, we can't take orders by phone.

With a restoration done to MCA concours specifications, here is a 1970 Boss 429 Mustang in original Grabber Blue finish. WNY Dream Cars out of West Seneca, New York has it for sale this week. They tell us it has only 38,000 documented original miles. It comes with its Deluxe Marti report. In their description, WNY Dream Cars says this Boss 9 is all numbers matching. It is one of only 210 Boss 9's which came in Grabber Blue and a white interior from the factory. And it has the very desirable Drag Pack option, a big plus for collectors. Other factory equipment includes the convenience group, electric clock, power steering, competition suspension and Rimblow deluxe steering wheel. They say it underwent a meticulous restoration 18 years ago, and has been in a private collection ever since.

The Spring Carlisle Car Show is one of the first to reschedule for the spring timeframe post-coronavirus. That includes the big Carlisle Auction. The event was originally set for April 23-24, 2020. But, because of the coronavirus, it was just rescheduled to June 18-19, 2020. We will be raring to go by that time.
The Carlisle Auction is all set to be the kind of "coming out" celebration that all of us need right now having been couped up during the Coronavisus pandemic. Get set to bid on great muscle cars such as this 1970 Chevy Nova SS L78 with the big 396 ci V8 rated from the factory at 375 horsepower. What a power plant! This one has a 4-speed transmission and a 3:55 Posi rear end. It comes with GM of Canada bullit proof documentation.
A vintage 1926 Packard Dietrich Sedan is on the inventory list for this year's Carlisle Auction in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. It is the one used in the HBO TV show Boardwalk Empire. It has been featured in a car museum since 2004. You should see this interior. All the proceeds of this sale go to the AACA Museum. So it is for a good cause. For a chance to bid on this beauty, you should register online at this link on the Carlisle Auctions site.
If you've ever wanted a Willys Custom coupe, here is the best one you could build. The 1941 Willys Resto Mod was recently done by professional restoration specialists. No money was spared in the build. It starts with an Outlaw chassis and body, comes with the 502 RamJet fuel injected big block engine, and backed by a TCI TH-400 automatic transmission with a narrowed "Fab 9" rearend with 3:73 gears. One of the finest could be yours. Bid on it at the Carlisle Auction in June.

A private seller from Sherman Oaks, California prepared a nice sales video for his 1967 Dodge Hemi Coronet 500. Click the video window above to view. This is a high end build and proven show winner. Tom says it is a dream to drive. "No issues, no overheating," he notes. "You truly can fly in and drive home." He notes that it has new brakes, new tires, new clutch, rebuilt transmission, and the engine only has about 1,000 miles, according to the description.

Interestingly, this is a 1991 Camaro RS which was a rare export model RS. Finished in factory red with red interior and T-tops, it has been preserved with very low miles, almost as if the first owner may have been preserving it for its collector value. The dash odometer is in kilometers. With only 700 showing it means there are only about 400 miles on this well-preserved treasure.

As you can imagine, in these troubled times, we have some amazing deals for you this week. Here is a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am tribute, one of the rarer among muscle car clones. Remember when these were all the rage? This one has a fresh 400 enigne with a new Turbo 400 automatic transmission. It retains a 308 posi rear end much like you would expect on a Firebird donor car. It is being offered for sale through Haggle Me, a collector car broker. They tell us it runs and drives. But they note that it will need a restoration to become a nice show car for local shows. It does have the steel hood, an expensive part to find. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this Saturday. They are only asking $14,500.

Here is a deal we just can't believe. It is a 1937 Ford Fordor Sedan that looks so good in the photos we can't believe it is being offered at such an affordable price. It was just posted by Streetside Classics at their Ft Worth, Texas location. It comes with a 221 ci Flathead V8 motor. They note that it runs and drives "great." It is an iconic look that will entice any true collector. And the two tone paint sets it off. Note the suicide back doors. Lots of room and comfort for a vintage motorcar. Naturally, they disclose that it has a few cosmetic issues. Better to have it inspected before you buy. It has an original looking Mohair cloth interior. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday because the asking price is only $19,995.

Haggle Me, the classic car broker mentioned above, has another great offereing for classic pickup truck collectors. Truck is sitting on factory frame with original suspension, brakes and upgraded aluminum radiator with electric fan. Although the paint is said to look good, the wood bed needs to be sanded and stained. This is one that you really should have inspected before you buy. Talk about a car that was born to be collectible. When the 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible came out in the bicentennial year for the U.S. it was to be the last great Cadillac convertible. Because convertibles were considered a safety risk at the time, GM put an end to a great American icon, the Cadillac convertible. Even thought we know now that the ban didn't last long, at the time every one sold was considered an immediate collector car. Many of them were stored away to preserve their collector value. I remember selling one for $100,000 with almost no miles. Here is your chance to own one at a very affordable price. This one will be offered for sale by Streetside Classics at their Tampa, Florida location. They are only asking $17,995.

A private seller from Linden, Alberta, Canada has a 1974 Dodge Challenger which will have Mopar enthusiasts salivating. He says he doesn't dirve it enough and will let it go for a very reasonable price. Although it came with a 318 V8 when it was new, it now sports a '67 383 ci big block transplant. The 383 is the one with the closed chamber heads. It also has a new 4-barrel Holley, Torquer intake and a 727 Torqueflite with a 2500 stall convertor. The Rallye package and 355 gears make it a fun driver. The seller says he has run 14.4 in the quarter mile. It was taken to bare metal and has the lower quarters replaced. The asking price is $18,000. You can't beat that price on a desirable muscle car.
