Meep! Meep! The story is improbable. A NASCAR super star caused a Road Runner to become a Superbird ... and the rest is history.
This week a Georgia Mopar collector decided to post his pride and joy, a startlingly original 1970 Plymouth Superbird which he bought from Petty Enterprises in Randleman, North Carolina. It happened back in the day ... a time when Plymouth had just lured Richard Petty back into the fold by promising to build an aerodynamic race car. Both Plymouth and Petty were betting on the newly designed 1970 Plymouth Superbird (based on the Road Runner platform) to dominate NASCAR's high banked oval race tracks. And that they did. Regularly reaching speeds of nearly 200 mph, Petty Enterprises won 21 NASCAR races in 1970 (with Richard winning 18 of them himself and Davey Hamilton winning the rest.) Richard Petty and the Plymouth Superbird are almost synonymously racing legends.
The Petty connection to this Vitamin C Orange 1970 Plymouth Superbird is strong. Not only was it purchased new at Petty Enterprises, but Petty himself signed the dash, the back of the passenger sun visor, and also signed the plastic sleeve protector for the original window sticker. The Superbird is in the Galen Govier Registry with full Govier documentation, and has also been inspected by Dave Wise, a respected Mopar afficianado. In the Govier report, it states that this car is one of only 626 original factory 440/375 Commando big block Superbirds produced with automatic transmission. It took top honors at the Syracuse Grand National in 2018. The owner describes it as being a "time capsule." He states that it is an original numbers matching car with an orignal broadcast sheet. There are a lot of Superbirds out there that have been restored very accurately. But this one is original and remains in unbelievable factory original condition. That means a lot to a collector.
For a full review of the car and what it means in Mopar history, follow this link to the MyDreamCar.online blog site. There you'll find the statistics and facts behind this amazing Mopar muscle car. Don't forget to leave your Mopar memories of the era in the "Comments" section below the article. We love to hear your stories.

The seasons are changing, but there are still dozens of top fall car show events to take in yet in 2019. One of our all-time favorites, Cruisin' The Coast, October 6-13, 2019, is happening along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This is a fun event where participants can tour along the coast from Bay St. Louis to Biloxi to D’Iberville to Gulfport, Pass Christian, Ocean Springs and Pascagoula. There is a car show every evening in each town. This weekend, October 2-6, 2019, the Fall Carlisle Car Show and Swap Meet will be happening in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. You can also take in the Hershey Car Show, one of the biggest shows in the country, sponsored by the Hershey Region AACA, October 9-12, 2019. At mid-month, the Fall Charlotte Autofair, October 17-19, 2019, will be held at Charlotte Motor Speedway sponsored by the AACA Hornet's Nest Region Club. Our newsletter readers will be interested to know that Cars-On-Line.com will be covering the Hilton Head Island Concours, October 24-November 3, 2019. It is one of the most important concours show events in the country. Top vintage collector cars from the U.S. will congregate there for national judging. The first weekend features vintage sports car racing in Savannah. Then the event culminates in the concours judging on Sunday, November 3. Watch for our coverage of the event and find out which cars are chosen as concours winners.
You can find events such as these every week in your area when you follow our Cars-On-Line.com Car Show Calendar. That's where you'll find them. Bookmark it and check it every week.
It has been reported that the Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic, which was introduced at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show in Geneva Switzerland this year, was sold for €16.7 million. That makes it the highest price ever paid for a new car. The car called La Voiture Noire, "the black car," was auctioned off to the highest bidder prior to the Geneva Show. However, Bugatti has not disclosed who the winning bidder was. In fact the car is roiled in mystery. There has been speculation on Twitter this week as to who the secret bidder was, but spokesman for the rumored buyers have denied the stories. The one-off Bugatti is a hat tip to the classic Bugatti Atlantic, in name at least. The amazing super car will be a one-of-one. Even though the car was shown at Geneva, it was not a working model. Bugatti says it will be completed in 2021 when it is to be delivered. We may have to wait a full two years before we know paid the winning bid price.

Is it a million-dollar car? This week Motorcar Classics in Farmingdale, New York has a very rare 1959 Ferrari 250 GT for sale in its inventory. They say it is fully documented and the best example of a 250 GT Coupe in the world. This elegant Pinin Farina coupe built on the 250 GT chassis was among the earliest Ferrari series production cars, with 350 examples handcrafted between 1958 and 1960. This one was hand crafted for Prince Bertil of Sweden, a noted car lover. It first appeared publicly at the Frankfurt Motor Show with accoutrements shared by no other early Series I, including four-wheel disc brakes, a racing transmission with overdrive, and a passenger hand-hold for his Princess Lilian. The Tipo 125C engine proved superbly capable both on the road and track, explaining its timelessness. With its triple Weber carburetor, it produced 240 horsepower. It comes with its Mancini Report authenticating the history on this 250 GT Series 1 Coupe. It is among the amazing offerings from Motorcar Classics this week. Follow this link to review more of their listings.
Slip into the bucket seat, grab the Olds sports steering wheel and Hurst shifter, and gaze at the round gauges with large speedo and tach. In a moment of rare nostalgia, a 1972 Oldsmobile 442 W30 Convertible was listed this week by Streetside Classics in Charlotte, North Carolina. One of the last of the great full sized muscle cars, it is one of only 113 real W30 convertibles built in an Oldsmobile factory. It has the high-performance 455 big block with four-on-the-floor. Adding a touch of sophistication, the Bright Cameo white paint contrasts the black convertible top. Note the dual hood scoops, hood locks, and notches in the rear bumper to cradle the large dual exhaust tips. 1972 was the final year for this legendary generation of Cutlasses. Oldsmobile 442 meant power plus creature comforts with power steering, front disc brakes, and sway bars front and rear. A five-year restoration was completed in 2006. This is just one of the amazing deals offered this week from Streetside Classics in Charlotte. Follow this link to view them all.
This week a private seller from St Paul, Minnesota sent us a walk-around video of his 1964 Plymouth Sport Fury. What a beautiful finish on this car, eh? You can see in the video how the paint looks a mile deep. The body is straight, you can see that from the video. Look under the hood and you see a 440 with a 505 stroker kit and Holley double pumper. Listen to the information the owner gives us as he goes over the whole car. Talk about a video inspection report. This is what a video can do for a seller. Click here to view the video, or click on the video window above.

Among the interesting new listings this week we found this 1965 Chevelle with only 8k original miles, according to the ad copy. The private seller from West Chicago, Illinois says it's not an all original car, however. He describes it as a "sleeper," a vanilla Malibu that once had a 6-cylinder engine. Now it has a 350/350 hp Corvette motor with a Muncie M21 4-speed, 3.73 posi rear end, Centerforce 2 clutch, Lakewood scatter shield, Quick Fuel 780, Hooker headers, and full Flowmaster exhaust system. This one would be a beast on the street.

Fair warning! This may be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the right buyer. A private seller from Beloit, Ohio just listed a 1969 Mercury Cougar Boss 302 Eliminator for a very affordable price. Now before you soil your pants, you should know that this is a project car. The seller says it runs and drives. He says it has 43k miles on it, and it comes with a Marti Report. Since the asking price is $32,500, you might want to pick up the phone and call now. They only made 169 from the factory.

A price drop on this 1970 Oldsmobile 442 W30 makes this the hottest deal in the classic car hobby this week. This is one very desirable muscle car. The seller did not explain the car in detail through his ad (and probably could have done a better job on the photos). But he says the car looks good, has never had any body work done, and it comes documented with a build sheet and all numbers matching. His original asking price was $53,500. But just this week he dropped the price to $47,500. Hurry!

In truth, a 1970 1/2 Ford Falcon is a pretty rare car to find to begin with. But this week, Cool Cars out of Pompano Beach, Florida has come up with a 1970 1/2 Ford Falcon Super Cobra Jet 429 recreation that really pops in the photos. Less than 90 of the original cars were built so this stunning replica represents rarity. Cool Cars describes it as a Show N Go muscle car, and they say it would be a "sleeper" on the street. It has the 429 Super Cobra Jet transplant engine with a mild cam, Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Weiand Hi Rise manifold, headers, a C6 automatic transmission, Flowmaster mufflers, so it sounds as great as it looks. Click this link to here it in a walk-around video produced by Cool Cars. It comes with a trans cooler, 9-in Posi rear end, power steering, shaker hood, gauges, straight body, black interior all stock with bench seat and an AM/FM CD in the glove box.

Here is a great muscle car to own and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. This is a 1966 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible which has a 400 and a tripower 3 2-barrel carb setup. It was a factory power window car with power steering, power brakes, new interior and bucket seats with a console. The private seller from Attleboro, Massachusetts says it has new stainless brake lines, new master cylinder, power antenna, Dakota in-dash gauges, new heavy duty aluminum radiator and American racing wheels. He says the power top is five years old, and tells us this car is ready to go anywhere. He says the power top is five years old. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday as the asking price is only $23,000. Looks like a lotta' car for the money.
For the purist, here is a 1940 Buick Century, what appears to be a largely original example. It has been listed by Shelton Classics in Mooresville, North Carolina. They say the interior looks to be finished in mostly, if not all, original materials. Much of the original simulated wood-grain is intact; a pre-war design element that is both costly and difficult to replicate. All of the soft materials are in remarkable shape, as they relate in the ad copy. A survivor, it has been in the hands of the current owner for nearly a decade, and upon purchasing it he was told it has never seen a full retoration. Under the hood is a Buick Straight Eight, which at the time had been reserved for the Roadmaster. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday since they are asking just $19,995.
By 1957, Mercury designers were given a free hand to create something totally different. Up till that time, Mercury was just a warmed over Ford. But the 1957 Mercury Monterey full size car was very distinctively Mercury, from the sculpted fenders to the V-shaped taillights. By mid-1957, the Monterey sported a two-headlight front design with the hooded air vents. Under the hood was a 312 ci V8. The black over white version you see here is being offered for sale this weekend at Kuyoth Classics in Stratford, Wisconsin. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The asking price is $18,995. Don't forget to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry!
The current owner says this 1969 Plymouth Barracuda is "scary fast and an absolute blast to drive." The car is being offered for sale through Haggle Me.com, an internet broker. It is a performance built muscle car with a Demon carburetor, Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads, MSD Billet distributor with a crank trigger, MSD 7AL ignition box, Magnafuel fuel pump, Fluid Damper balancer, Miloden oil pan, fule cell with sender, a 3-speed automatic transmission with a trans brake, and line lock. The rear end is tied with frame connectors and it has a 6-point roll cage. This race car has rcing seats with restraints. Weld Rodlite wheels come wrapped with Mickey Thompsn ET Street 275 radials. It retains slick custom paint with no rust or bubbles anywhere, they say. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the price is just $26,900.
A luxury car collector from Deunden, Florida is offering two of the Lincoln Mark V's from his collection. This 1978 Lincoln Mark V pictured here is a two-owner with a Wedgewood Sky Blue exterior and dark blue leather interior. The white simulated convertible top complements the cool spoke wheels. The seller says all work was done by Lincolnland of Clearwater, Florida. He says it comes with all new tires, radiator, water pump, thermostat, starter, alternator, regulator, battery and battery cables, wires, front end tie rods and other parts. All the fluids have been changed, all dash bulbs replaced, and major tuneup done in August. It has a new Cartier clock, original radio and CB unit, tilt wheel, power steering, power windows, power locks and a custom dash cover. The ad says it has always been stored in air conditioned garage. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price on this one is only $6,990.
This one is a bit of a restoration project. It is a 1960 MGA 1600 Roadster being offered for sale by Beverly Hills Car Club. They say it was owned by the same owner for many years. Like many of the cars Beverly Hills Car Club finds, it was probably forgotten in some storage area, and now needs to be put back on the road. It is very collectible and comes with its red paint and black and red piped interior. Equipped with a 4-speed manual transmission, dual carburetors and wire wheels, it does strike quite a pose. Look at the photos in the ad. The paint looks nice but you may want to have it inspected to get an idea of how much work it would be to restore. It has a a rear luggage rack, soft top, side curtains and includes a spare tire. They say the car is mechanically sound. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week if it lasts that long. The asking price is $15,750.
Off-Road 4X4 vehicles are all the rage in the collector car hobby today. There is a cult group of gearheads that are all about Off-Roading, and they spend big bucks on their rides. Here is a 1983 Jeep CJ-7 Renegade being offered for sale this week that seems to be at a discount to the market. It is offered for sale by Classic Car Liquidaters out of Sherman, Texas. Our newsletter readers will recognize their name. They often have highly desirable collectible vehicles at very affordable prices. That is the case this week with this Jeep. Be sure to look at all the photos. It comes with a tach, dual exhaust, center console, aluminum radiator, LED Ligth Bars, Grant steering wheel and a custom rear bumper with receiver hitch. Note the custom front bumper, custom Raceline wheels, 4-point safety harnasses and aftermarket sound system. It's ready! And it will be our DEAL of the DAY next Friday if it lasts that long. The price is $14,999.
