While historians always try to say that the Pontiac GTO was the first American muscle car, the early Hemi Mopars were unbeatable at the dragstrip in that era. For instance, here is a 1965 Plymouth Hemi Belvedere I with the 426 Commando engine. It was the last year of the streetable Mopar Hemi wedge combustion cars (first year was 1964.) All of the Max Wedge cars that performed so well at the dragstrip were too much to handle for everyday driving. Then came the 1964-65 Plymouth Hemi Belvedere with a 426 which was considered a Wedge combustion motor, but with nicer street manners. Called Street Wedge cars back then, they would blow the doors off of a GTO.
This week, North Shore Classics, a classic car dealer from Mundelein, Illinois, offered this legendary Mopar for sale. What is amazing about this one is that it still has so much of its original documentation. (Check out the photo documentation on the ad page here.) The 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I Hemi 426 Commando is described in detail on the ad page. NSC says they have the original dealer invoice, original window sticker, original Certicard, original owners manual and the cowl tag.
They say this B-body Belvedere came from the factory with a Sure Grip rear end with 4.10 gears, power brakes, and radio and heater delete. The factory 4.10 gear ratio tag is still intact in the rear axle housing.
The 1965 Belvedere I 426 Commando is a good one to collect. It was not generally made known to the public that you could order a 426 Wedge car at the time. Mopar collectors often refer to this car as a Street Wedge. It is a one-off year. The next year, in 1966 Plymouth came out with the Street Hemi.
For more of the history on the 1965 Plymouth Belvedere I 426 Commando you may want to read our blog post on the MyDreamCar.online website. Tap this link to read the article. It includes a video so you can hear it run. Then post your stories about the early Mopars in the comments section below the article. We love to hear your stories.

The long awaited premier of the Twentieth Century Fox film called Ford v Ferrari is now in theaters all over the U.S. Today is the first day of its release. Considering the expensive promotion behind this historic film, Hollywood is betting the bank on this one. Real car guys will love it. There is an hour-long segment packed with racing action. With actor Matt Damon playing the legendary Carroll Shelby and Christian Bale portraying genius California racer, Ken Miles, the characters are larger than life. It is a mano a mano competition against Ferrari's best drivers during the 1966 24 Hours of Lemans race that Ford wanted to win at all costs. Whether it is consistent with the facts of the race or not, it makes you proud to be an American gearhead and be entertained at the same time.
It should be no surprise that Off-Roadin' was big at this year's SEMA Show in Las Vegas. The Specialty Equipment Market Associaton (SEMA) holds its big convention every year in November. This year's show, November 5 through November 8, 2019, at the Las Vegas Convention Center, had its share of jacked trucks ready for showin' or off-roadin'. Emme Hall, editor for Road Show, did a nice job of recounting some of the memorable vehicles at this year's SEMA Show in this video. The video done by SEMA itself was also very exciting. They say it is the best automotive experience you can have in the U.S. That is if you are a gearhead. You really have to be into it to want to spend entire days talking with car builders. Follow this link to see what SEMA featured this year.

A 1964 Shelby 289 Cobra with a known history is documented in the Shelby Registry. It was just listed for sale by Legendary Motorcar Company. Having been a demonstrator at the Shelby plant, it was consigned to Joe Brown Ford in Louisville, Kentucky on May 15, 1964. A Louisville resident purchased the car and raced it in autocross locally. He came across a surplus XE-specification engine developed by Ford for the GT-40's. The engine was rebuilt and installed in the Cobra with GT-40 style intake and Weber carburetors. See the photos of this fabulous engine. In 1985, the esteemed Shelby restorer Bill Murray of Longmont, Colorado did the restoration on this beautiful Cobra. The original body was modified to FIA cut-back door specs. The beautiful work holds up in show condition today.
Here is the 1970 Plymouth Superbird you want to buy. For collectors, this is the one that will hold the most value (other than a Hemi Superbird.) A private seller from Mesa, Arizona is offering it for sale this week. It is one of only 308 Superbirds built with a 440 6 Pack and a Hemi 4-speed manual transmission. What's more, the seller says it is "all numbers matching" and comes with a build sheet. The Lemon Twist yellow Superbird is an impressive looking Mopar muscle car to own. It was built with the Dana 60 8 3/4" rear end and 3.54 Sure Grip. Inside you'll find a bucket seat interior. The seller says the body is lazer straight with all body lines matching, and he says the body and paint are excellent. The suspension is all new, which means this car drives beautifully. For those who know, this is a rare find.
There were only 834 Road Runner convertibles produced by Plymouth in 1970. In fact, Road Runner convertibles were only produced in 1969 and 1970. So this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Convertible is a rarity for Mopar fans. REV Muscle Cars, an internet broker for collector cars, has done a video on it as they are selling it for one of their clients. The car is located in Wisconsin. Click the video window above and you'll get a walk-around tour which will surprise you. This car is restored, nice and tight, with good panel fitment and good gaps. They call it a "show driver" in the video.

Here is a very desirable vintage collector car that still has very low miles. A 1925 Willys Overland Sedan has been listed by Haggle Me, an internet broker that helps collectors sell their vehicles. It comes with a 6 cylinder flathead engine. They say it was totally restored about 30 years ago with all the wood replaced. (See photos.) What is truly amazing about this classic Willys is that it still has just 1,348 original miles.

Legendary Motorcar Company is famous for their Shelby restorations over the years. This week they listed a very authentic 1965 Mustang GT350 Shelby tribute. They say this one was rotisserie restored in the style of the first-year Shelby Mustangs. The Wimbeldon white with Guardsman blue stripes are iconic for this car. See dozens of detailed photos here.

Here is a preview of some of the best deals ever offered on the Cars-On-Line.com website. This week we have seen some great low prices on some very important collector cars and trucks. The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
A 1972 Chevy El Camino was listed this week at a very affordable price. Look at the photos in this ad. This is a very nice looking El Camino with SS badging (not a real SS.) The seller is Classic Car Liquidators in Sherman, Texas. We are not sure how they do it, but these guys come up with some of the best deals on collector cars week after week. This one has a GM 350 crate motor, Hedman headers, and dual exhaust. And this is a driver car with power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes, a center console and air conditioning. Built for performance, it comes with both front and rear sway bars. The best part, however, is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because their asking price is only $18,999. Now that's a lotta' truck for the money.
If you are looking for a Ford Model A, here is one you have to check out. The 1929 Ford Model A Roadster is being offered for sale at 4-Wheel Classics in Holland, Michigan. These guys are big off-road fans, but their sidelight is early Ford cars. They say they hand pick each vehicle they sell, drive it and inspect it so that it is ready for your enjoyment. So this one is an older restoration, still very clean, runs and drives very well. They describe it as a "ten footer" with a stock interior (check out the photos.) Tap this link to view a walk-around video and get to know it better. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price is just $13,900.
Just after World War II civiian auto production ramped up again and the Ford factories were producing post-war vintage cars. Here is a 1946 Ford Super Deluxe which is an excellent example in black with a gray Lebaron Bonney interior. It is being offered for sale this week by Legendary Motors in Beverly, Massachusetts. Like many cars of this vintage, performance upgrades were done in the old school way. So this legendary Flathead 239 ci engine has an Isky cam, dual caruretors with dome chrome air cleaners, Edmunds aluminum intake manifold with Edelbrock aluminum head. The electrical system was converted to 12-volt for easy starts. Tap this link to view an interesting video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $14,900.
While we are talking about early Fords, here is a 1923 Ford Model T Touring car, a four-door model with the phaeton style type. Notice the military-style wood wheels. It is being offered for sale through Haggle Me, an internet classic car broker that helps market collector cars online. It is a new listing this week and they don't have a complete set of photos available yet. You will definitely need to have it inspected before you buy this one. The ad copy does not indicate a condition class or condition report. But the price point is certainly interesting. We will have it as our DEAL of the DAY early next week because they asking price is $12,000.
They say Nash CEO George Mason was not only a congenial leader, but also had a yen for small cars. It was through his leadership that Nash came out with the Nash Metropolitan, which is what was call a Microcar today. It was conceived and designed by American Motors (Nash plant in Kenosha, Wisconsin) but built in England. They were a magnificent combination of English engineering and American design. This 1961 AMC Metropolitan is being offered for sale by Midwest Car Exchange for one of their clients in the Chicago area. They say it is a fantastic driver with "gorgeous paint." It has the 1500 cc Austin engine with a fresh carburetor and fuel pump. All in all, this is an interesting classic Microcar to check out. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The askiing price is $14,900.
Here is a fun car being offered for sale by a private seller from Canada. It is called a 1989 Corsair Roadster. It follows the "Great Gatsby" theme of neo-classic cars and was built by the Roaring Twenties Motor Car Company in California. This car was actually used in the original brochures. They built about 170 of these before the company went out of business. Only 20 of these cars were built at the company with the rest sold as kits. The Frame, Engine, Trans. and rear end are from a 1978 Ford Thunderbird with a 351 ci motor adn a three speed automatic transmission. The seller says it has won many trophies. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later in the week. His asking price is $18,500.
The name Roush is a tremendously important brand for performance Mustang fans. Unique Specialty & Classics in Mankato, Minnesota is offering a 2011 Roush Mustang Stage 2 Convertible for sale at a very affordable price point. Under the hood is the 5.0L Coyote V8 with cold air intake paired to an automatic transmission. Follow this link to review an interesting walk-around video. The Roush appearance package is attractive. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY this week with an asking price which will surprise you. They are asking just $19,900.
