We're about to get Studebaker owners all riled up with this new listing from Chicago. It is a rare 1921 Studebaker Special Six Touring car. The classic car dealer offering this rare gem for sale is Chicago Car Club. They state in their ad description that this car comes with its original drivetrain which is a Studebaker 289 cubic inch engine with a 3-speed manual transmission.
Studebaker built their first 289 ci Straight Six engine in 1913 and it was in production until 1926. Hundreds of thousands were built and many are still running today. You have to remember that from 1915 to 1933, Albert R. Erskine was president of Studebaker, and he favored the "six cylinder only" policy for all those years. In fact, the cars were called Special Six and Big Six models. The Studebaker 289 ci engine rated at 29.4 hp was available from the factory. This Studebaker is VIN 3001849, and the engine number is 39001-6 with a date stamped on the engine (see photo on the ad page) of 12-23-1921. Chicago Car Club says the engine is believed to be original to the car.
This car is well preserved for its age. It is driver quality, not trailer queen quality. So you know it runs. "The car runs and drives nicely. Idles smooth and steady, shifts nicely, tracks and brakes straight," they tell us.
The car comes with a number of photos from the early 1950s, thanks to the Mohave County Historical Society in Arizona, as well as title and registration documents from 1969-2001, all showing long-term, Arizona-based ownership. There is also a photo log documenting a complete restoration of the car in the early 2000s.
It is not often that we see a Studebaker for sale of this vintage. A collector with a keen understanding of vintage cars might pick this one up at a very affordable price today. Follow this link to our blog site where you may read more on the historic impact of this early Studebaker. Chicago Car Club has also included a very detailed video walk-around tour of the car. You can even hear it run. Be sure to let us know your Studebaker stories in the comments section below the story.

The Amelia Island Concours, one of the top car shows in the U.S., happens this weekend. As usual, Cars-On-Line.com will be there to bring you all the action at the classic car auctions and on the show field. The big sale at the Bonhams Auction yesterday was the 1930 Cadillac Series 452 V-16 Roadster which sold for $1,075,000 at the hammer ($1,187,500 with the sale premium included.) We saw a lot of great vintage classic cars sold there yesterday. We also will be covering the cars at the RM Sotheby's sale today and tomorrow, the Gooding & Company sale Friday only and the Russo Steele Auction, Thursday and Friday. This is the first year at Amelia Island for the Russo Steele Auction. It is known for its more "blue collar" type of cars with many muscle cars in the sale. Don't miss the auctions, and our coverage of the Concours D'Elegance on Sunday. That's when they pick the Best of Show winners, a very competitive competition with some of the top cars in the world on display. You can follow our coverage today at our ClassiCarNews blog.
We hope you were reading our coverage of the Detroit Autorama last weekend. Did you vote for the 1959 Cadillac Nomad to win the Ridler Award for 2019? Our readers picked the winner. The 1959 Cadillac Custom they call "CadMad" won the Ridler Award on Sunday. It got the most votes from our readers who voted with their "Like" on our Facebook posts. Click here to view our coverage of the 2019 Detroit Autorama and see the Great 8 cars that were in the running for the Ridler Award this year. We have full page stories on each car with video interviews with the owners and builders. You'll also see a slide show of the top cars we saw at this year's Detroit Autorama featuring the fresh new trends in the hot rodding hobby.
Last month a Canadian seller from Whitby, Ontario, Canada called our office and was scratching his head. "What am I doing wrong?" he asked. "I have a great car, a black 1969 Chevy Impala SS 454 Convertible, and I'm offering it at a great price. I just can't get people to call. If they looked at it they would see what a great buy this is." So we told him he needed to make that car stand out from the crowd. We suggested that he send us a video to put into his ad. Within a short time after adding the video to his ad he called to tell us his car was sold. "Thanks to Larry who told me to run it in video," he told us over the phone. "The video sold the car. Thanks for your advice." Now he knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... But you can sell on Cars-On-Line.com." Follow this link to the SOLD section below where you will see all of the private sellers who SOLD their cars through COL this week. When you see how effective a Cars-On-Line ad can be, you may want to advertise your car with Cars-On-Line.com. Click here to start your ad now.

Ellingson Motorcars out of Rogers, Minnesota has a sweet Rio red 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible in their showroom this week. Not only does it have the 348 ci big block motor with a Tripower, it also comes with a Continental kit for swagger. For some wonderful classic cruising it comes with the reliable Powerglide transmission, factory power steering and power brakes, and even has the corect tri-color interior. Wide white wall tires and spinner hubcabs trim it out right. It doesn't get any better than this. This first year Impala is one of the most sought after cars in the collector car hobby. You'll find it in the Ellinngson Motorcars inventory for sale. Follow this link to see more of the inventory at Ellingson Motorcars today.
Classical Gas Motors took the time to create a very interesting video for our newsletter readers. This very cool 1966 Chevy El Camino is clean and fully restored. 7 years ago it underwent a complete frame off restoration and has since racked up only 700 miles. That is just enough time to work out any kinks from the build while still being a fresh practically just completed car. What you see in the video is a nice driving El Camino with a sparkling engine compartment and very clean undercarriage. It remains a driver quality vehicle so it is still affordable for the average collector. But in the video you can see it is a car you could take to local shows and have fun with. Produced by Kansas based Scarab Motorsports, LLC it is modeled after the aesthetic specifications of the original, but with modern day safety improvements. The body is made of hand crafted aluminum built for exacting detail; wire edged where appropriate, as on the hood and door latches, hinges and pins as original. See details in the ad copy. Set up for doing burnouts, but this 1970 Plymouth Cuda Convertible is almost too nice to drive. After a body-off restoration, the private seller from Midland, Texas says there are less than 200 miles on the build. It is powered by a 528 all-aluminum Indy block, Indy aluminum heads and dual quads. Power is transfered through a Tremec 5-speed to a Dana 60 axle. It has sub-frame connectors and an aluminum engine plate. Perfect for gettin' the groceries.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
One of the newest classic car dealers in our Cars-On-Line.com Dealer Network is PC Classic Cars out of Sherman, Texas. They have the knack of turning up some popular collector cars at very affordable prices. This week our top DEAL of the DAY comes from their inventory. Here is a 1970 Ford Torino GT with the laser stripe and the shaker hood. It has the 351 Cleveland big block motor (which they say is numbers matching) and comes with a ton of factory options including bucket seats and console. They say it is a real GT, and back it up with the original window sticker, original owner's manual and original dealer brochure. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is affordable at $26,500.
Here is a really sweet and different looking 1966 Mustang Convertible with Nightmist poly paint and a light blue and white interior. Something different for the right Mustang collector. The Pony car, a C-code 289 V8 car with automatic transmission, power disk (front) brakes and power top, shows well at a driver quality standard. Offered by Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia, they tell us it runs and drives well; the 289 pulls strong and is fitted with a Holley 4-barrel carburetor. It has newer shocks, front brakes, outer tie rods, starter, alternator, rear leaf springs, exhaust, fuel pump, interior and convertible top. We will be promoting it on the front page of our website on Sunday in the DEAL of the DAY feature. You will be surprised to hear that it is being offered for $23,900. See it here in video.
Here is the "sleeper" in this week's batch of DEALs of the DAY. It is a 1970 Chevy El Camino, very sharp looking in the photos. The big block 454 car/truck is being offered for sale by a private seller from Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He says it has benefitted from a frame on restoration, and comes with custom updates such as a TH350 automatic transmission with shift kit, 12-bolt Chevy rearend, Southern Air, Ron Francis wiring and Dolphin gauges. See the all-new interior in the photos. It presents as a sharp custom performance vehicle in the muscle car line. And it will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week because the asking price is just $24,500. I think you will agree that it is a lotta' truck for the price.
Here is an interesting offering from a private seller in Turlock, California. His 1956 Ford Thunderbird is a driver quality car from the photos. This one would be important to have inspected before you buy. If this one is a solid No. 3 condition car, it could be worth offering just under the $30,000 asking price. The black plate California car is Thunderbird green, with a white/green interior. It comes with a desirable 312 ci V8, automatic transmission, continental kit, porthole hardtop, and soft top. Nice options with power steering, power windows, power seats, Town & Country radio, air conditioning, HD radiator w/aux electric cooling fan. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $30,000.
You'll have to act fast on this one. Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa will be taking your calls today on their 1971 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 Tribute, a nice looking muscle car with some performance built in. They say it a great driving muscle car. Its powered by a nice running 350 V8 engine and backed up by its 3 speed manual transmission that has been converted to the floor. Its comes equipped with power steering, original am radio, factory Vacuum gauge in the dash, and is riding on a nice set of Rally rims. See it featured here in a walk-around video tour. Hurry, though. It will be our DEAL of the DAY because the asking price is only $15,995.
For all of you off-roaders, here is a 1975 Jeep CJ-6 being offered for sale by 4-Wheel Classics in Holland, Michigan. They say there is over $30,000 in restoration done on the Jeep and there is a full binder of receipts which comes with the sale. The Jeep originated from North Carolina. They say the body on this CJ is really nice and painted in the new Camaro Synergy Green. They even poweder coated the frame and added new bushing everywhere. They added step bars, aftermarket front and rear bumpers and Corbeau seats. The engine is a rebuilt 258 I6 which they say runs fantastic. Rear Axle is a Dana 44 and Front Axle is a Dana 30; 4.10 gears. This Jeep has a 2 1/2 inch suspension lift with Rough Country shocks and Dune Grappler tires that are 31 X 10.5 X 15. You can tell somebody really loved this Jeep to have gone so far with the restoration. See it featured here in a walk-around video. They are only asking $18,900.
It would be hard to find another 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 2-door Hardtop for a price like this. A private seller from Pennsylvania said it was owned by the same family from 1965 till 2015. Because it was a North Carolina car all these years, they say it has no rust. In fact, it only has 86k original miles according to the ad description. It has the Ford 352 ci V8 motor and a cruise-o-matic transmission. The previous owner did a lot of work to make sure it is streetable. The car fires right up and everything works except the factory am radio. The paper work from the day it was bought new comes with the car, including a copy of the title from new. Finding an unrestored original like this one is rare. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week because the asking price is only $14,000.
