The 1958 Packard Hawk came so late to the party that it was just a one-year wonder. By 1959 the Packard name was history. So those few final year Packard Hawks are much sought after collector cars today.
Ellingson Motorcars in Rogers, Minnesota just listed a rare Shadowtone Red 1958 Packard Hawk for sale this week. What a find. Only two Packard Hawks were ever produced in this color combination. And this one was the featured car at the Chester Palmer Studebaker/Packard dealer in Roseville, California until 1969. With such a pampered history, it is in a condition that would be hard to match today. It is one of only 200 known to exist. Remember, these were the Euro styled Hawks that came with a McCollough Supercharger and were rated from the factory at 275 horsepower. Outperforming the Ford Thunderbird, they were a match for the vaunted Corvette V8s.
They say the 289 Supercharged V8 runs well, as it was rebuilt along with the transmission as part of a restoration in 2011. The new beige leather interior was redone to original. The Packard Hawk had a very interesting Euro look interior, much nicer than the standard Golden Hawk interior for the Studebaker. Leather was standard on the Packard version.
Packard Hawks sell for double what a Studebaker Golden Hawk would bring on the collector market. Mechanical parts are easy to find because they shared the same driveline as the Studebaker Hawks. But they are expensive to restore because body parts are so hard to find. So buying one already restored like this is the only way to acquire one.
For more information on the Packard Hawks and some historical statistics, follow this link to the MyDreamCar.online blog site. Then tell us about your Packard Hawk experiences in the comment box at the end of the article. We love to hear your stories.

The 25th Annual Millers at Milwaukee Vintage Indy Car Event is happening this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park, July 12-13, 2019. It was amazing to see all the vintage Indy race cars congregated for the start of the event. These old Indy race cars actually ran the Milwaukee Mile, starting about 10 AM this morning. The event is hosted by the Harry Miller Club, the association of race car collectors who specialize in cars built by legendary race car builder, Harry A. Miller. Miller based engines and race cars dominated the championship racing world during the 1920's and 1930's, winning 38 Indianapolis 500 races. The car shown in the photo is the Miller car that won the 1928 Indianapolis 500 race, driven by Louis Meyer, who would go on to win two more Indy races. Indianapolis 500 winner, Johnny Rutherford is shown here piloting the No. 14 Miller car. For more information on the show see our live report, including video of the vintage racing.
John, from Lake Havsu City, Arizona asked us to place a SOLD sign on his ad for a 1939 Ford Deluxe Woody Wagon this week. He no more than reduced the price on it to $74,000, and boom, it was gone. The market for these wood bodied cars remains strong, and woody clubs are all the rage in California and even Florida now.
Now John knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... But you can sell on Cars-On-Line.com." Follow this link to the SOLD section below where you will see all of the private sellers who notified us that they SOLD their cars through COL this week. Mopars are hot and the market is a little short of quality pieces to buy right now. So we don't expect this 1970 Plymouth Cuda, a real V Code 440 6 Pack car, will last long. It was just posted for sale by a private Mopar collector from Zionsville, Indiana. He says it does not have the original block but does have one that is date code correct. He also notes that it was rebuilt by a known engine builder and done right. The restoration was done in the 1990's, and has been maintained ever since. This is as good as it gets for a car you can afford to drive and have fun with. He says he has the original broadcast sheet, and documented ownership from 1992 forward. Ask him if it was an original Shaker car. That would make it so valuable.
Featured in our Exotic Car Section this week is a 2019 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT R finished in Designo white metallic over black Nappa. The Garage in Miami, Florida has listed it for sale as a lightly used car with just 400 miles on it. The Dinamica exclusive interior comes with silver contrast stitching. The AMG Biturbo 4.0 Liter V8 is rated at 577 horsepower, and it comes with a 7-speed AMG Speedshift DCT transmission. It is exquisitely shod with 19" front and 20" rear black AMG 10-spoke forged wheels. It sports the AMG carbon fiber interior and AMG ceramic braking system. The finest in high tech performance is embodied in this spectacular exotic sports coupe. For more exotic sports cars, view the inventory from The Garage at this link.
Our readers will be thrilled to hear about a new classic car dealer from Clearwater, Florida. Their name is SuperSport Classics, and, yes, they specialize in Chevelle SS big block cars. They have a ton of them in their inventory. This is a 1969 Chevelle SS 396 in original Marina Blue 71/71 paint code, white bucket seat interior with center console, and original SS Rallye wheels. This real SS car has a freshly rebuilt period correct 396 big block engine, Muncie 4-wpeed transmission and a 12-bolt rear end with power steering and power disc brakes. It is all just the way it should be. If you wanna' take a trip back into time, find more Chevelle Super Sports when you look through the inventory at SuperSport Classics. They have just joined our Cars-On-Line.com Dealer Network. Be sure to visit their inventory often during the coming week.
Big block Corvettes are always going to be hot in this car hobby. Greg from Vanguard Motor Sales shows you why here in a very effective sales video on his fresh listing, a 1969 Corvette 427/390 big block car with T-tops. Was this the hot car back in the day! Not only does he show you dozens of photos on the ad page (linked above) but he also goes through the car in detail in the video (click the video window above.) That Monaco orange paint is amazing.

This week's DEAL of the DAY preview has some of the finest collector cars we've ever offered at such low prices. Just look at the popular collector cars in this week's DEALs. This is where we give newsletter readers first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page during the coming week. Often these cars sell right here in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
As part of an estate sale, here is the opportunity of a lifetime. This is a real 1978 Corvette Indy Pace Car edition from Fairfield, California. It is being sold along with another 2013 Corvette, both in the estate sale. The wife of the former owner says she has the factory decal set to go along with the car. She is currently trying to find the set. The car has a numbers matching L82 350 engine, and has only 40k miles, according to the ad copy. It comes with dual sport mirrors w/ remote, Tilt/Telescoping steering wheel, cruise control, power windows, blue tinted T-Tops, power steering, and power disc brakes. The air does not work. Pace car wheels and Gymkhana suspension are included. Now here is the amazing part. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is only $16,000.
For health reasons, a collector from Linstrom, Minnesota has to sell his hobby car, a 1957 Pontiac Chieftain 2-Door Sedan. Pontiac collectors will be amazed at the simple clean lines of the sharp classic Pontiac. The seller says it is very popular at car shows he attends. This one has an upgraded 400 ci V8 engine with the 350 Hydromatic transmission. Look at these photos in the ad. This car is very special because of its condition. Of course, you should have it inspected before you buy. But hurry! Clean classic cars like this don't come along all that often. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday since the seller is only asking $18,000 for this classic treasure.
In its Y Code Indian Fire paint, this 1969 Ford Torino GT really stands out. Compared to Chevelles or GTOs, this Ford Torino has so much more to offer. It is being offered for sale out of the Nashville location for Streetside Classics, a franchise collector car dealership. They say all the Ford hi-po styling cues are in place here, including the blacked-out hood scoop, C-stripes, GT grille, trunk moldings, rear pillar inserts, and styled GT wheels, so there's no mistaking it on the street. It has a strong-running 302 ci V8, and the The C4 3-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly and spins the 9-inch rear gears to cruise at highway speeds. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday with an asking price set at $26,000. Where can you get so much muscle car for the price?
By the late 1950's a two-door hardtop was the cats whiskers among passenger cars. It had become part of the young American dream. None were more stylish than this 1958 Edsel Pacer 2-Dr Hardtop being offered by a collector in Indiana. This car was in an Edsel collection owned by a private individual. Then after his passing sat for 12 years before being rescued by the family. The brake system, all gas lines, tank and so on were redone.
