It is arguably the best week of the year. Nirvana for a car collector happens every January when the Barrett-Jackson Auction sends tremors through the market. As usual, Cars-On-Line.com is in Arizona this week to cover all of the action for our readers. The epicenter of the collector car world is right here in the Valley of the Sun. And we are eating it up with a spoon.
Although the Barrett-Jackson Auction was originally the big draw for top collectors from around the world, now there are seven major auction companies selling cars here during Arizona Auction Week. Cars-On-Line.com is covering five of them for our newsletter readers. (Click here to review our blog and see photos of all the top cars being offered here this week.) So far the top sale happened at the RM Sotheby's Auction at the Phoenix Biltmore last night when a super rare 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO sold for $3,050,000. Tonight we will be watching as this 1948 Tucker (shown here) will be offered at the Friday edition of the RM Sotheby's Auction. Follow this link to our blog page where you will find out how to watch the Live Stream with us.
The Barrett-Jackson Auction has been going on all week in Scottsdale. But tonight its gets serious as some major muscle cars will be crossing the auction block. (You can get a preview here on our ClassiCarNews blog page.) Be sure to follow our Facebook page tonight to join in on our Barrett-Jackson Auction Watching Party. We'll post the cars on Facebook and ask you to tell us what each car will sell for. Join the conversation and have some fun with our Facebook fans.
Get all the news from Arizona Auction Week by bookmarking our ClassiCarNews blog page. Then check back all weekend for the cars and prices. We believe the Arizona auctions are a good barometer for predicting collector car price trends going forward into 2019.

By and large, the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS), aka North American Internatinal Auto Show, has produced nothing but yawns from the automotive press. The only saving grace seems to be Ford Motor Company's new 2020 Shelby GT500. The new Shelby will be excitement personified. You can easily search YouTube and find video of the way Ford unveiled the new Shelby (lowering it from the rafters in Detroit.) They did an official unveiling here a the Barrett-Jackson Auction yesterday iin Scottsdale as well. The 2020 Shelby GT500 shown here is a prototype for promotions. It is a new color for 2020 called Twister Orange. However, on Friday night here at the Barrett-Jackson Auction, Ford Motor Company will be auctioning off the first 2020 Shelby GT500 to be produced, VIN 001. The prototype will cross the auction block in place of the VIN 001 car to be produced. Production on the Shelby GT500's is scheduled for July 2019.
Wow! This new Shelby GT500 is something. They say the new 5.2 Liter engine will have over 700 horsepower, but will be really light and fast as well. Horsepower ratings are yet to be determined because Ford is still tuning that wonderful 5.2 Liter engine. And it will only come with the dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission. No manual transmissions will be offered. It will come with 20-inch wheels and there will be four new colors (including Twister Orange) just for Shelbys.
When a 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible mild custom was listed by a private seller from Elgin, South Carolina, the seller knew his buyer would be a Cars-On-Line.com type of guy. "Thanks to you I SOLD my 1957 Chevy Bel Air Convertible," he told us. This seller knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below where you will see all of the private sellers who SOLD their cars through COL this week. Is it the most sought after collector car in the hobby? Every car collector would chose the 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible as their fantasy dream car. The only thing which limits its popularity is the money it takes to own one. This factory FY1 Lemon Twist Hemi 'Cuda droptop came to Legendary Motorcar Company several years ago for a full rotisserie restoration at their famous shop. (Read the story of the restoration in the ad copy here.) It is one of only 18 Hemi Cuda convertibles ever produced in 1970. It comes with full documentation, including two broadcast sheets, known ownership history, owner’s manual, bank loan papers, restoration pictures and previous registration paperwork. Usually these cars are traded between private collections. Legendary Motorcar Company is offering it to the general public. This is a rare opportunity to own the hottest muscle car of all time.
You'll get an honest opinion from a self-professed nitpicker that goes over this solid 1967 Chevelle Malibu. It's propped up and ready for inspection! The owner from Gurley, Alabama says the floor pans look original and the front end work is superb. It runs from a cold start on a SBC 350 with a TH350 auto. The interior is two tone to match the exterior. You don't just get one video to familiarize yourself though. You get two! Watch above or click here for video #1. You can click here for video #2!

The gold stripe and accents play nicely across the stunning white paint of this 1973 Hurst Oldsmobile W-30 from Primo Classics International of Lakeland, Florida. This is one of the rarest Olds out there, with a 455 big block, auto transmission, cold AC, and just 34,000 miles. The photo gallery is something you'll want to see.

Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa has come up with what they believe to be a real 1970 Chevelle SS which needs restoration but already has most of the mechanicals redone. It has its 12-bolt 4.10 Posi rear end, front disc brakes, 7/8 front sway bar, proper steering bolt on knuckle on the column that only came in the SS option. They say it also has boxed-in rear control arms, upper control arms and brackets from axle to body, cowl induction hood, and other things to prove its a super sport. Click here to view a walk-around video. It is one of the more promising project cars to check out this week.

The most popular Mopar muscle car next to the Hemi Cuda is the late '60s Dodge Charger R/T. We have had a red 1969 Dodge Charger R/T in our Mopar Section from Round Hill, Virginia. The seller had it priced at $79,500. It has a 440 Magnum and an automatic transmission. It looks very original wiht a white interior. Evidently it was repainted in the 1980's. The seller says it runs strong. Just this week he lowered the price to $72,000. Have it inspected before you buy. But you might want to check this one out.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
The Vette Net has listed a very interesting 1969 Corvette Convertible at a very good price point. They say the 20-year-old laquer paint is showing some patina (they consider it a seven out of ten.) All instruments function, and the body shows well with good alignment. The air was gone through and blows cold. Although the engine is NOM, it runs well, they say. The rear end and springs were rebuilt, all brakes, lines, master cyinder are new. New power steering, new shocks front and rear, new fuel tank, new fuel lines, pump and sending unit. I think you will agree this is a lotta' car for the price. Click here to view a walk-around video. So it will be our featured DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $26,990.
A private seller from Winthrop Harbor, Illinois has a very interesting 1955 Desoto Firedome Sedan for sale. This is a "survivor car" which means it has not been restored and is still about 95 percent original, says the seller. He indicates it has just 64,000 miles and has been in heated storage for the last 40 years, driven twice a year. He says it has the Hemi V8 engine and tells us that "everything works." The seller says the bumpers and trim are very nice. "Cruise the highway at 75 mph or cruise town all day long with no issues," he says. New parts include, head gaskets, exhaust gaskets, intake gaskets, lifters, valve seals, and more. It does need some TLC, so this would be a good car to have inspected before you buy. What a great price, though. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $9,900.
Here is a great 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe street rod with the same owners for 17 years. It is being advertised by Classic Lady Motors for their client. They tell us it has been well cared for and well maintained. It really looks good in the photos. (Click through to view the photos in the ad.) Classic Lady Motors rates the paint and interior as excellent. The engine is an LS1 with a 3-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. They figure it has about 5,500 miles on the engine and transmission. It comes with power steering, front power disc brakes, rack and pinions steering, telescopic steering wheel, and turn indicators. The front end is a Mustang II and the rear axle is from a 1957 Chevrolet. It even comes with 17 years worth of maintenance records. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is only $27,000.
A private seller from Converse, Texas has posted his 1930 Ford Model A Coupe for sale. We noticed it has the perfect seat for your mother-in-law, especially on a cold day. It may not have original paint, but it looks like it is in really original condition. Look at the photos. The seller says it has the original 4-cylinder engine, transmission. It has wire wheels with whitewall tires and beauty rings. He says it starts and runs well. It would be a good idea to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week featured on the front page of the Cars-On-Line website. The asking price is affordable at $13,000.
A classic car dealer in San Diego called Corvette Specialty is selling this 1956 Ford Thunderbird for sale. And you know what we always say. If you find a first generation Ford Thunderbird for sale for less than $30,000 ... buy it. This one has the 312 ci V8 Thunderbird engine, and a 3-speed with overdrive. They say the engine has been rebuilt. You may want to have it inspected before you take a trip out to see the California sun. We would be happy to take a look at it for you. We'd love to take it for a ride. But hurry. The asking price is just $28,900.
This just came in from Tennessee. A private seller is offering his 1967 Plymouth GTX for sale. Mopar collectors know that these early GTX muscle cars are highly desirable. The owner has had this one for 35 years, he says. He indicates that it is in excellent condition and has a 440 big block Mopar engine with an automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes and air conditioning. He also states that it has a fresh drivetrain. In terms of documentation it does come with the warranty card. You should have it inspected before you buy online. But hurry! It will be our DEAL of the DAY on the front page of our website next week. The asking price is $28,500.
When Corvette started using T-Tops in 1968 it really was a major change in sports car manufacturing. Streetside Classics of Phoenix, Arizona listed a 1969 Corvette Stingray with T-Bar roof this week. This one has the removable rear window, a very desirable feature only available on those models. The photos in the ad really look good. One of the upgrades it has is availability for R134a air conditioning, as well as a retro-style AM/FM/cassette stereo and a newer three-spoke steering wheel with excellent grip. Most important for our purposes here, the asking price is real affordable for a classic Corvette Stingray. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week with an asking price of $27,995.
