For no good reason the 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T gets no respect in the muscle car resale market these days. The top price paid for one is usually under $40,000 at major auctions. That is, of course, unless there is an original 426 Hemi under the hood. Now that changes everything. This week, Show Your Auto.com listed a 1967 Dodge Coronet Hemi R/T Convertible which has been verified as the only Torqueflite version ever produced for sale in the U.S. Lets break this down so we can see just how rare this one is.
1967 was the first year for the R/T option and it was offered only on the B-Body Coronet by Dodge. Dodge used the Road & Track option as a halo over its youth oriented performance program. Everything about the Coronet R/T said performance. The R/T package was designed to give Dodge the image it wanted with hood slats, louvered taillamps, prominent badges, and horsepower. R/T badging is prominently displayed on the grille, rear quarters, and tail section. Only the 426 Hemi equipped cars had the Hemi emblem on the front fenders. The 426 Hemi option was unprecedented in pricing, adding nearly 30% to the final cost
Show Your Auto.com tells us this one is all numbers matching, with original sheet metal, original interior, factory correct engine bay and undercarriage. It has been inspected and confirmed by Dave Wise, considered the top Mopar muscle car expert. They made a total of four Coronet Hemi R/T convertibles in 1967; two with 4-speed manual transmission, one Torqueflite 3-speed automatic for the U.S. market and one automatic for Canada. This is the one automatic made for the U.S. market. She has original documentation, complete Dave Wise Visual Inspection, as well as Chrysler Historical records. Mopar collectors will be running over each other to get at this one.
For more historical notes and production stats, be sure to read our MyDreamCar.online blog page this week featuring this 1967 Dodge Coronet Hemi R/T Convertible. You can use the Comments box below the article to tell us your stories about the early R/T muscle cars from Dodge. We love to hear your stories. Think about it this way. You are contributing to history.

A Chevy Corvair Loadside Pickup truck is by itself rare and desirable in today's collector car market. But Vintage Motorcars of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin has taken this one a step farther ... way over the edge. They have listed a 1962 Electric Corvair Loadside for sale. Yeah, that's right. This is a fully electric classic pickup truck powered by 63 Lithium ION batteries 3.2v, 180 AH each, wired in series, with 202V total. All of that powers a Netgain 11" motor rated at 44 horsepower and 135 ft/lbs of torque @72v. It uses an original trans axle and a Powerglide transmission. It also uses a traditional alternator plus battery for a separate 12V system which supplies lights, power to the windows, and air conditioning. The rare classic Corvair truck had undergone a rotisserie restoration with the addition of frame connectors, front disc brakes, dual master cylinder, LED tail and 3rd brake light, Line-X bed liner and more. It even sports a custom leather interior. Check out more photos at the link above.
A nice clean look at a classic muscle car is often all you need to sell it. That's what we find when making collector car videos here on Cars-On-Line.com. They take you through the entire car here in their feature video. It comes with a 454 big block Chevy motor, HEI, power steering and power brakes. Wait till you here it run at this link: 1969 Chevelle SS tribute

"Alejandro De Tomaso commissioned Lamborghini designer Gianpaolo Dallara to produce the chassis for his following project, the mid-engine supercar by the name of Pantera." This 1974 DeTomaso Pantera GTS is 1 of only 97 U.S. Spec GTS models built in 1974 and comes with a 351ci Cleveland engine and Campagnolo wheels. It's fully documented with just 8,900 original miles.

Are better days for this 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona still ahead of it? You can take this iconic muscle car to where it needs to be. The seller is in Foxboro, Massachusetts and says this Charger comes with an all numbers matching 440 4-barrel engine and matching 727 transmission. There's also all original body panels, including nose and wing. It's been off the road for 40 years, but the seller says it's not so bad in person. Be sure you check this one out!

A high end custom show car was listed a few months ago from Bethlehem, Connecticut. Likely the seller was trying to recoup some of the incredible investment that it takes to build a car such as this 1955 Chevy Bel Air Pro Street. Unfortunately, in today's market it often is just not possible to sell a car for what it costs to build it. So this week the private seller from Connecticut lowered the price on his incredible show quality Pro Street. It has an Art Morrison chassis, 502 Chevy engine, 400 Turbo automatic with Detroit Lockers and ladder bar suspension. The paint is a Dupont Raspberry candy over a gold base on lower body. It is a one-of-a-kind custom at a cost of $275,000 to produce. This week he reduced the price to $195,000. That is a discount of $80,000 from what it would cost to build.
You'll find hundreds more PRICE REDUCED vehicles on the Price Reduced Feed today. Here are just a few:

You can just tell that the builder was a real NASCAR and Richard Petty fan. This 1970 Plymouth Superbird tribute was built so authentically that it actually may be a better car than the original. The paint color and the way the Petty No. 43 were done indicates a real attention to detaill. That means a correct front air dam, triple hood pins, panels riveted over the door handles, reinforced front and rear glass, all the right sponsor decals, and that hallmark rear wing that can be adjusted. Even the size of the fuel filler cap/neck and custom blue NASCAR steelies with true Goodyear stampings indicate a dedication to authenticity. Check this one out. You won't find a better reproduction. It is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics out of their classic car dealership in Phoenix, Arizona.

Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Our top DEAL of the DAY this week is the car that started it all. This 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop is the car most historians credit with jump starting the muscle car era. This private sale by a collector from Chesapeake, Virginia has all the right equipment. It is powered by the 389/348 hp big block Pontiac motor fed by a Tripower and mated to a sporty 4-speed transmission. The seller says it is the original "born-with" engine, transmission and rear end. It comes with Pontiac Historiacal Servicies documentation and the car came with the following options: white buciket seat interior, transisterized ignition, power steering, dual exhaust, HD 4-core radiator, tilt wheel, 4-spoke wood wheel, tachometer and console. The seller says it runs well but needs some TLC as decribed in the ad. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because where can you get an historic muscle car like this one for just $23,900?
One of the most intriguing automobiles ever sold here in the U.S. is the Nash Metropolitan. American Motors had these built in England by BMC. As small car specialists, they were able to create a far more substantial package (right down to the continental kit) than American companies could do for compacts at the time. And so, the result was a cool import with a domestic name. This 1962 Nash Metropolitan is being sold by Vintage Motorcars of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. They tell us the 1.5 Liter motor will surprise you. This B-Series motor is related to the MGA 1500, a popular motor in Europe, and parts are still easy to find and relatively inexpensive. Like a good frugal European, the fuel mileage allows you to get out and drive on a budget. The three-speed manual transmission has light action, and with smart gearing, it cruises at highway speeds nicely. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $14,900.
Ever since the Hollywood movie "Rebel Without a Cause," the Mercury coupe has been an American icon. To own a custom 1949 Mercury such as this one is the dream of many a baby boomer. It is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics in Phoenix, Arizona. Someone has already taken the time on this one to make it a nice looking mild custom. That means all the features you love, like the streamlined front end with expertly deleted trim. The dual spotlights and Lake pipes complement the ample chrome front and back. A dual exhaust finished the extra long look. You'll like the frenched headlights, shaved oor handles, rear fender skirts and a lowered suspension. Streetside has included a walk-around video. Click to see the video here. There is a lot to like with this big purple custom, especially the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. The price is listed at $24,995.
A lot of Gen-Xer's have fond memories of the Fox body Ford Mustangs. They grew up with them. So they have become a niche market in the collector car hobby. The square looking Fox body Mustangs had European appeal, much like the Mercedes SL sports cars of the era. Here is a 1990 Mustang GT Hatchback 25th Anniversary edition being offered for sale by a private seller from Skagit County, Washington. He says it has original paint, and remains rust free and adult owned. It has Wild Strawberry metallic paint with titanium grey iterior, a 5.0 Liter V8, 5-speed manual transmission and about 93,500 miles on the odometer. You will be surprised at how affordable it is. The asking price is $7,500.
Although Ford Galaxie full-sized convertibles were very popular back in the day, not many have survived for collectors to enjoy. Here is a 1962 Ford Galaxie 500 XL Sunliner being offered for sale at Motorcar Studio in Atlanta. They say it is finished in "correct-to-the-trim-tag" Raven black with a white convertible top over a red interior. What a striking combination that never fails to turn heads. This is an unusually well-equipped example, with a 390 cubic inch V8, automatic transmission, power steering, power top, bucket seats and center console with floor shifter. The car presents overall as an original survivor, or, in more common terms a daily driver quality example. They say the body panels are straight with good gaps. You can view a walk-around video here. The trim, bumpers and chrome do show light patina. However, this one will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because they price is in a very low range at $21,900.
You know what we always say about first generation Ford Thunderbirds: "If you find a good one for under $30,000 ... but it." That still holds true today. As of last year the average value on a first generation Ford Thunderbird sports car in No. 2 condition was $47,480 (according to our 2018 Market Trends report -- see it here.) So we noticed this black 1957 Ford Thunderbird in our new listings today being offered for sale out of Guyton, Georgia. The private seller says it has the 312 ci Y-block V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor and automatic transmission. He notes it comes with the auxiliary lift-off hardtop and a convertible top. In the description he says there is no rust. He is a little short on descriptive information so you will have to call for more information. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY latter in the week with an asking price of $30,000. You may want to make an offer.
Here is an interesting find from a private owner from Canada. He is offering a 1968 Ford Ranchero for sale which he indicates is in pretty nice condition for its age. He describes the Ford classic pickup as being in "mint" condition. He says it was originally a rust free original from the Southern U.S. Indeed, he says you must see it to believe it. The ad goes on to say that the motor has been rebuilt and runs as new. "I don't think anything was ever put in the box," he comments. Check out the photos in the ad. He says it was a special order vehicle from Ford with a Code 74 Meadowlark yellow paint and parchment interior. It even came with remote mirrors, according to the description. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week with an asking price of $18,000.
