The legendary Ferrari Boxer sits there in the gallery at Daniel Schmitt & Company in St Louis. Watching the video online you notice the beautiful interior which looks as if no one has ever sat in the Italian leather seats. You'll probably want to view the video over and over just to hear the throaty tune of the mid-engine V-12 as they turn the key and drive it out of the showroom.
The legendary 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi Boxer is shown here in stunning Rosso Corsa red. Originally sold as a new car in Illinois, it is one of the very few 512 Boxers sold new here in this country because they were never exported from Italy to the U.S. The only way one could be purchased here is if it were ordered in Italy and converted to EPA and DOT standards in the U.S. Daniel Schmitt & Company tells us that the rare Boxer has only 4,989 kilometers on the odometer (about 3,100 miles.) It is still like new. With best in class wins at Ferrari Club of America concours events, it has been documented by noted Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. A full engine out service was performed in July 2018, ensuring that this 512 BBi performs as well as it presents. It may be the finest example of a 512 Boxer in the world. World class collectors may want to take note.
For more on this historic 1983 Ferrari 512 BBi Boxer, read our ClassiCarNews blog page today. The story of how the 512 BBi took over for the V-12 Daytona and then handed off to the Testarossa is fascinating. It is the story of the evolution of the Ferrari mid-engine V-12. Be sure to contribute your memories of the classic Ferrari Boxer in the comments section below the article. We love to hear your comments.

While we were at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona two weeks ago our photographer, Bob Boberg, uncovered a great story about a Limelight green 1970 Plymouth Hemi Superbird. It is a bit of Americana that we thought our readers would enjoy. As it turns out, this Hemi Superbird was on the cover of Muscle Car Review magazine with an article titled "Mom's Daily Driver." It still belongs to its original owner, Janice Sutherland of Yukiah, California. Having an adventurous spirit, she purposely was looking for a Hemi Superbird in 1970. The one she found happened to be one of the most highly optioned Superbirds produced. After being her daily driver for most of the past 50 years, she recently had it restored. The judges at the GNRS awarded the Superbird as “Best Overall Restoration”, a major accomplishment against many other expertly restored vehicles at the show. We thought you might like to hear Janice's story in her own words. Click the video window to see the interview.
We always appreciate it when our advertisers tell us about how they SOLD their car on COL. This week, Charles, from Newport News, Virginia, told us he SOLD his 1966 Plymouth Satellite through a $45.00 Run Till Sold ad. "It was on Cars-On-Line.com a while but is now SOLD!" he wrote us. He said the man who bought it saw it on Cars On Line. But Charles wanted to make sure he was still going to receive this newsletter. "You're not going to take me off your Newsletter email list are you? I might find another vehicle to buy!" Charles knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below where you will see all of the private sellers who SOLD their cars through COL this week. When you see how effective a Cars-On-Line ad can be, you may want to advertise your car with Cars-On-Line.com. Click here to start your ad now.

A private collector from Toronto, Ontario, Canada has a one-of-one 1968 1/2 Mustang 428CJ Fastback which he has just posted for sale here on the Cars-On-Line.com website. According to the Marti Report, only 1,044 R Code Fastbacks were produced, with this one being one of just 337 which came with the automatic transmission. Only 13 were originally painted Meadowlark yellow. Of those, this one was the only one to have a saddle tan interior. Thus it is truly a one-of-one from a collector's point of view. The seller says it still has just 52,000 original documented miles. He says it has benefited from a fresh professional rotisserie restoration and comes highly optioned from the factory with the GT package. It was originally sold at Tasca Ford on May 15, 1968 and the original purchase agreement, Deluxe Marti Report and a stat sheet are included with the sale.
You know what they always say, "Every car has a story." Here is a 1939 Packard Twelve Model 1708 Convertible Sedan which has been taken care of all of its life. How do we know? It was owned by Colonel Robert R. McCormick, owner of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Tribune. Rumor has it that McCormick’s rule was that his driver had to get him from downtown Chicago to his home in Wheaton, Illinois in 45 minutes or less. The Packard Twelve was capable of doing that. This week, it is being offered for sale by Daniel Schmitt & Company in St Louis. They tell us it still has just 34,701 actual miles, and presents with a wonderful patina. There were only 446 Packard Twelves ever produced. Today it is one of only twelve such cars known to exist. They say the stunning Tavern Green paint with Balfour Green fenders is largely original, something collectors salivate over. This one is a find.
Back in the day, when you saw a 1964 Dodge Polara 500 with a Max Wedge you paid it some respect. This is a no-nonsense, bare-knuckle street fighter that screams high performance in a very low-key way. Unique Specialty & Classics from Mankato, Minnesota has this one for sale today. They prepared an interesting walk-around video so you get the sense of this car. The bodywork is straight, not unlike what it would have been when it rolled out of the factory, and it shows off the work of guys who knew their stuff. The engine is a 1969-vintage 440 with an .030 overbore and 10.5:1 slugs, so it'll run well on pump gas. The bottom end is heavy-duty stuff from a 440 Six-Pack, and the heads are unmolested '63 Max Wedge pieces fed by a polished '63 intake with modern Carter 750s on top. Click here to watch the video.

Blackdog Performance Cars tells us they have the lowest mile C-2 Corvette fuelie in the world. This week they listed a 1965 Corvette Fuelie Convertible which they confide was almost never been driven back in the day. They say it is well preserved and remains that way today. The odometer still reads only 1,653 actual miles. For a 327 ci 375-horsepower Turbo-Jet engine that is pretty phenomenal. And it comes with the 4-speed manual transmission. Note that it also comes with an auxiliary hardtop. Check out the numerous awards it has achieved (listed in the ad copy.)

All right ... we know they never made a 1970 Boss 302 Convertible ... but isn't it fun to speculate on what it would be like if they did? Something is happening in the collector car market. We are seeing some cars showing up with prices at a deep discount to the market. As prices trend downward, we'll be showing you some of the best bargains here in the DEAL of the DAY preview. It gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Chicago Car Club in Chicago, Illinois has a 1967 Pontiac GTO Hardtop for sale this week at price you just can't resist. A car this desirable is rarely seen in this price range. They say they bought the car from a local collector. They point out chips and blends in the paint in a video walk-around they did of this car. (Click here to view the video.) It is a very detailed tour of this car. They say it came from Arizona at one time. It is a very interesting "daily driver" type quality car. Check out the interior in the video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $28,500. Hurry! This one will not last long at this price.
We are not sure when the fad started, but at some point in the 1960's someone got the idea of customizing English-built Ford microcars. The trend may have started in Canada where more of these European Fords were available. So today there is a 1948 Ford Anglia Custom street rod for sale on the Cars-On-Line.com website. The private seller is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He tells us it has an all steel body and is equipped with a 351 Windsor motor with Edelbrock intake and carburetor. He describes the paint and flames as "beautiful." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $27,000.
Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California is often mentioned here in the DEAL of the DAY feature in the newsletter. They make some incredible discoveries in the storage areas in and around Beverly Hills. Here is a 1955 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe which they just posted for sale. They say the car is mechanically sound and comes in a desirable color combination o burgundy over a tan interior. Equipped with an automatic transmission, they say it is an excellent example of a classic 1950's luxury car. It had the same owner for many years. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday since the price on this one is only $16,750.
The Chevelle front end look on this 1972 Chevy El Camino SS makes it one of the most popular designs of the muscle car era. It is being sold through Classical Gas Motors in Texas. They tell us the body is solid and rust free. Although the paint has some minor imperections, it presents well in its orignal Code 63 Mohave Gold metallic paint. They tell us it comes with a partial build sheet identifying that it came from the factory with Super Sport tires. It does not have the 396 big block, but does come with a 400 ci V8 engine. The car was factory ordered with air conditioning and a new original style compressor was just added. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is just $23,500.
A private seller from San Antonio, Texas is offering his 1973 Mustang Mach 1 for sale. This is quite an unusual muscle car. It has a mural painted on the NASA hood. The Grabber blue paint is not original. It is a Q-code 351 Cobra Jet car, very desirable, with disc brakes, power steering, and air conditioning (although the compressor is not present.) He says all lights work, and that it runs well on 14-inch wheels. The photos make it look as though it is worth checking into. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy. But hurry. The asking price is $14,995.
Four-wheel-drive Sport Utilities from the 1980's and 1990's are going up in value, although you can still buy them inexpensively today. Here is a 1990 Ford Bonco XLT being offered for sale at 4-Wheel Classics in Holland, Michigan. They say it is a clean example of a solid and rust-free truck, and they say it is in great orignal condition. Click here to view a video produced by 4-Wheel Classics. The engine is the 5.8L 351 V8 that according to the previous owner was replaced at around 80,000 miles with a crate engine from a dealer. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week as the asking price is affordble at $14,900.
A collector from Coaticook, QC, Canada just posted his beautiful 1936 McLaughlin-Buick Sedan which he says is in "excellent condition." Buicks produced in Canada were known as McLaughlin-Buick vehicles up until 1942 because Sam McLaughlin's automotive company was a partner to GM and Buick. The black metallic exterior contrasts a beige cloth interior. The seller says it has all original parts. It comes equipped wiht an inline 8-cylinder gas motor with rear wheel drive and a three-speed manual transmission on the column. If you are interested you may want to note that Cars-On-Line.com's Inspection Service can cover Canada. But hurry! The asking price on this one is only $16,500.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
