Surprisingly, the rarest of Pontiac muscle cars is not a GTO or a Trans Am. Actually the 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula SD-455 turns out to be the rarest of them all. This week our featured car in the Cars-On-Line.com newsletter ups the ante in that it is one of only nine such Formula SD-455's ever produced in the Ascot Silver color. The beautiful finish was only offered in 1973 and 1974.
Having been secured in a top Pontiac collection for most of its life. This 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula SD-455 is said to be in near No. 1 condition with just 87,000 miles. It is amazing to find one in this kind of condition. The private owner from Tulsa, Oklahoma says it remains all original and has never been restored. He says it is numbers matching with the original automatic transmission. It has been featured photographically in two restoration books and on the cover of Joe Moore's Restoration Guide.
You will find this car registered in the Super Duty Registry. The seller tells us it won its class every year (except one) at the POCI for the 12 years it was shown. The seller describes it as a great example of an original piece of Pontiac history. All the show signs and memorabilia associated with this car go with the sale. The owner says he has the PHS paperwork, owner history and the original window sticker for the car.
Such a fine example of a rare Pontiac muscle car does not come along every day. Pontiac collectors will be swarming on this one. For more history on the SD-455 Firdbird Formulas follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog page.

We like to keep it pretty simple here at the Cars-On-Line office. When we greet you, we say, "Merry Christmas," not a watered down "Happy Holidays." It's the Christmas birth that the world celebrates. Why make it more complicated than that? Doesn't it make you smile inside that a poor baby boy could be born in the humblest of conditions, and yet history tells us that kings came to give him presents? The tradition of giving gifts at Christmas comes from those humble beginnings. If truth is in the eye of the beholder, then we have all witnessed the magic of Christmas. It is a gift of second chances wrapped in hope.
Looking ahead to Christmas Day next week, we, here at the Cars On Line office, hope that time will stand still for you on this blessed day ... that you will take pause to consider what you have been given in your life ... and that you will have a chance to be with the people who helped you along your way.
So our wish for you this week is that you will feel that glow of cheer, renew friendships, fill yourself up with what is worthwhile in life ... laugh, sing and enjoy the company of family and friends. May you all have a Merry Christmas ... and God bless you ... every one.
NASCAR has released a statement saying that Junior Johnson, a great driver, owner and promoter for NASCAR racing, has passed away at the age of 88. The announcement said he had entered a hospice earlier in the week. Johnson is survived by wife Lisa, daughter Meredith and son Robert Glenn Johnson III.
Johnson was not only a great NASCAR driver, he also owned NASCAR teams mentoring some of NASCAR's greatest names, including Darrell Waltrip. Waltrip tweeted, "I loved that man, God Bless Jr and his family, You were the greatest! RIP."
Johnson came from humble roots in the rural North Wilkesboro area of North Carolina. As a moonshine runner in the hills around Wilkesboro he learned to drive hard and fast. He parlayed those skills into NASCAR wins from 1953 until 1966 as a driver. When Federal revenuers found a still on his family's property in 1956, Junior took the rap for it. He was later given a full pardon by President Ronald Reagon in 1986. A movie about his life was made in 1973 with actor Jeff Bridges playing Junior. It was called "The Last American Hero." It was a fitting title.
This week, eClassicAutos.com has come out with its list of the Top 12 Custom Car Builds for 2019. At the top of that list was the incredible America's Most Beautiful Roadster (AMBR) Award winner, George Poteet's 1936 Ford Roadster called "3 Penny." That's where we first saw this car at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California. In addition to the AMBR award, the '36 roadster built by Pinkee's Rod Shop in Windsor, Colorado, was honored by Goodguys (America's Most Beautiful Street Rod), the NSRA (Builder of the Year), SEMA Awards: Ford Design Award – Best of Show, Battle of the Builders – Top 3 in the Hot Rod Category, and a Mothers Choice Award for Excellence in Automotive Design. Now that is a lot of awards for one car. Follow this link to see the rest of the Top 12 according to eClassicAutos.com.

A private collector out of Kansas is offering his rare 1954 Kaiser Darrin Roadster for sale in our Sports Car Section today. He is the second owner, but actually purchased this car in 1955, according to the description written by the broker, Classic Car Deals. Only 435 Kaiser Darrin roadsters were produced. The whole body was made of fiberglass from Kaiser, with hood, doors, and trunk lid provided by Glaspar Boat Company. The body was fitted to a modified Kaiser Henry J chassis. The most interesting feature was what designer Dutch Darrin called the "pocket door," which slid into the front fender on a track, thus disappearing into the fender. It appears this particular car has a supercharged motor. Darrin outfitted a certain number of these cars with superchargers as post production add-ons. There is no indication as to whether this is one of those cars. The Kaiser Darrin Roadster was only offered in 1954.
One of the hottest trends in the collector car market in recent years has been the emergence of the classic Off-Road Resto Mods. This beautifully restored 1963 Dodge Power Wagon is in that groove. The Dodge W300 Utiline was the biggest pickup in their four-wheel drive lineup with a spacious 9-foot box on a 133-inch wheelbase. Only 335 were produced. This one has been listed by MS Classic Cars in Seekonk, Massachusetts. They wanted our readers to know that it will be sold this January at the Barrett-Jackon Auction in Scottsdale. It has a "prime time" Saturday number so you will probably see it sold on TV. Or contact them now to find out how to bid. Click here for a look at all of the MS Classic Car inventory.
A Pensacola, Florida gear head has been building his 1989 Chevy Caprice 9C1 Police Cruiser into a tight custom street whip. When he placed his ad on Cars-On-Line.com he included an interesting video which explains the build. Follow this link to watch the video (or click the video window above.) See the GM Vortec 350 crate engine, Edelbrock performer intake manifold, 454 injectors, LT1 fuel pump and ceramic coated headers.

The seller describes it as a "nice car ... 350, 4-spd" with only 52k actual miles Athough it has new wheels and exhaust, the interior is original and he says the car is "very sharp." It was painted some time ago so you can expect some imperfections as described in the ad copy. He will fill you in on the detail when you call him about the car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is only $17,750.
Look at the interesting design on this 1948 Kaiser Frazer Special. More than any other American car it had a distinctly European look. That is possibly because Dutch Darrin was the designer credited for this body style. It is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics through their Tampa, Florida location. They say there have only been three owners in this car's history, the first one owned it for six decades. They say there are $$ thousands in receipts documenting the maintenance. Be sure to watch their walk-around video at this link. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The asking price in only $17,995,
An internet broker called Haggle Me.com is advertising this 1964 Pontiac Bonneville for sale this week. They say it has been garaged for over 45 years. The second-owner says it runs great with no smoke and no rust. He says the transmission shifts properly, and has factory air conditioniing. It has a 389 V8 engine. They say all the electricals work well, and they describe the interior as "like new." You can view a couple of pics on their ad page. This is one that you might want to have inspected before you buy. But hurry. They are only asking $14,500. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday next week.
A rarely seen 1941 Plymouth Deluxe Coupe is being offered for sale by Fast Lane Classic Cars in St Charles, Missouri. According to the ad description, it has a 218 ci inline 6 cylinder engine, 3-speed manual transmission and reupholstered interior. A lot of work has been done to maintain this one to origial. It has new front and rear bumpers, fender skirts, updated electric wipers, updated turn signals, an under-dash heater, updated temperature gauge and more. Check out the painted steel wheels and updated hubcaps. Look at the photos. It is beautful in it original look. It wiil be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $19,995.
To find a No. 3 condition 1965 Ford Thunderbird Convertible for under $20,000 is something a collector would not have thought possible just a year ago. This one is being offered for sale by KC Classic Auto in Lenexa, Kansas. It is powered by a smooth running, numbers matching 390 V8 mated to an automatic transmission. Loaded with features, it has factory air conditioning, power convertible top, power steering, power windows, power door locks, power brakes, and more. The power convertible top works like it should. Best of all, they tell us it drives real smooth. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $19,900.
Chicago Car Club has an interesting way of presenting cars for sale. Advertisiing this 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible, they video'd an interesting walk-around tour of the car showing it blemishes and any defects they found. In essence, this is like an inspection video and becomes very valuable to the buyer. They describe this Corvair as a nicely presented driver. The red two-tone vinyl interior is shown in the video. It has a strong running flathead six cylinder engine. View the walk-around video here. They say it is in need of nothing for you to enjoy and drive. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. Their asking price is $13,500.
It was supposed to be the last Cadillac convertible ever produced. Buyers were told to store them away as new and they would triple in value. In fact, I remember selling one for over $100,000 to a collector just a few years after they were new. Yet, here is a 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible with only 38,000 miles on it. After spending all of its life in Georgia and South Carolina it is being sold by Motorcar Studio at a fraction of what collectors predicted it would be worth. Click this link to view their interesting video walk-around tour. They say it starts, runs and drives very well as you might expect. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week because the current asking price is just $16,900.
