Vince Piggins, Chevrolet Product Promotions Manager and keeper of the muscle car flame, saw Chevrolet developing the Camaro early in 1966. Eager to compete in the Pony car market with Ford's Mustang, he saw the Camaro as an opportunity to offer a factory built race car. They were going to sell Camaro Z/28's right off the showroom floor. What a concept. Keeping it low profile so that the general public would not be aware of the Camaro's race readiness, the Z/28 with the DZ302 HiPo engine was never mentioned in the brochures at first. But by the time the 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS came out with the Cross Ram intake, the cat was out of the bag.
This week, Mershon's in Springfield, Ohio posted a 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS with the Cross Ram intake. This revered Pony car with the high horsepower DZ302 is a real X33 Camaro. (Find dozens of high resolution photos on the ad page.) It has the rare color combination, burgundy with white Lemans stripes and a white vinyl top. In addition, it has the rare original Code 727 Ivory interior. With both front and rear spoilers, it comes with a full California smog system and Rally gauges with factory tach and center console. Look for photos of the Protect-O-Plate in the ad.
As a collector car, this one is at the top of the Camaro food chain. With a body style that makes it an icon, the 1969 Camaro Z/28 is a beautifully designed car. It looked wider and more muscular than any previous Pony car. Simulated air vents before the rear wheel wells gave it a styling cue that just set it off right. The cowl induction hood gave it a bulge indicating power under the hood and rounding out the design flow.
For more information about how this 1969 Camaro Z/28 RS effected the muscle car market back in the day follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog. There you will find more facts and statistics about the early, first-generation Camaro Z/28 with the Cross Ram intake. Then use the comment box below the article to let us know about your Camaro Z/28 experiences. We love to hear your stories.

Exotic car enthusiasts may be flocking to Perillo's Pre-Owned Outlet iin Downers Grove, Illinois this week to oogle over a pre-owned example of a 2019 Ferrari 812 Superfast. The name itself alludes to the unimaginable performance of this new Ferrari offering. Running on premium unleaded fuel, this 7-speed auto-shift manual super car is said to have a top speed of 211 mph. The beautiful coupe packs a 789 horsepower 6.5-liter V-12 under the bonnet. Car and Driver Magazine tested the car and said it was the real deal. " ... the name 812 Superfast is not mere hyperbole," they report. Top Gear called it "a ruddy triumph." It is the most powerful exotic car ever produced by Ferrari. It is said that it will do 0 to 60 mph in under 3 seconds. Retailing new at about $443,000, but wait till you see what Perillo will sell it to you for. Click here.
Chrysler Corporation was known for their engineering prowess. That is the reason why Chryslers were often more innovative than other American cars. During the 1930's their engineers worked with Orville Wright to come up with a more aerodynamic vehicle to reduce air resistance and make for a smoother ride. The outflow of that effort was the 1934 Chrysler Airflow, as the one shown here. This classic Chrysler is being offered for sale by Orlando Classic Cars in Orlando, Florida. This is a Canadian version Chrysler Airflow. All Canadian models came with a six cylinder engine while U.S. production cars all came with inline V8's. 1934 was the only year the six cylinder car was built in Canada. Only about 445 were ever produced.
A private seller from Mill Bay, British Columbia, Canada just posted his 1993 Dodge Viper RT/10 for sale. What is interesting about his ad is that also sent us a link to his walk-around video from You Tube. We embedded the video on his ad page. He says it is one of the lowest miles RT/10's out there with only 5,976 original miles. Every Viper is born to be collectible. Click the video window above to watch this interesting walk-around.

It looks like this 1955 Pontiac Safari Wagon was restored many years ago. They say it is now showing age around the edges, but is still driver quality. Our readers know that the Pontiac Safari was a cousin to the Chevrolet Nomad. Only the Safari is more rare. This one could use some freshening at this point but is still functionl the way it is. Rare options include power windows, air conditioning (does not currently work) power brakes, power steering.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
When a 1969 Ford Torino GT Convertible was listed this week by Coyote Classics in Greene, Iowa, we knew we had to show it to you here. The previous owner says he really enjoyed taking this car to shows and driving it in parades. He says it is a great driver powered by a nice running 302 V8 engine and backed by a smooth shifting automatic transmission. It comes equipped with power steering, power top, air conditioning, AM/FM radio, dual mirrors, dual exhaust, and rides on its original GT rims with new tires. Click here to watch a bumper to bumper walk-around video and hear it run. The two-tone bucket seat interior is in nice shape for its age, says Coyote Classics. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because they are only asking $17,995
Wow! This is quite an engineering feat. Somebody took a 1955 Ford Crown Victoria with a glass top and converted it to a custom pickup. It has the 383 ci engine with dual qud carbs and an automatic transmission. Note the custom shark tooth grille, functional Lake pipes, traction bars, dummy spotlights, shaved door handles and the glass top from a Crown Victoria. It comes with power steering and brakes, floor shifter, electric windows, tilt steering wheel and a floor shifter. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of only $19,500.
Here is a 1972 Ford Ranchero with a 429 Cobra Jet engine, mild cam and automatic transmission with floor shifter. The private seller from Georgia does not say whether the 429 Cobra Jet was original to the car so we assume it is a swap. But can you imagine the power? It comes with power steering and brakes, an aftermarket steering wheel and CD player. It also has air conditioning and heat, and comes with ribbed aluminum valve Cobra covers, new Holley 4-barrel carburetor, Twin Magnaflow mufflers with large pipes and Hooker headers. The truck bed has a liner and cover. Look at those Torque Thrust wheels. He says it runs as good as it sounds. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday. He is only asking $19,500.
The Vette Net out of Florida is offering a very nice looking 1968 Corvette Stingray Convertible. It has undergone a recent off-the-frame restoration with everything new, redone or freshened up to reflect a fresh look. Watch the walk-around video to see the exquisity paint in British Racing Green, and the 327 sitting under the hood. The engine compartment is highly detailed. Even the interior all new and correct. Gauges and instruments are said to work. Note the condition of the top. And be sure to look at the photos of the undercarriage. Looks new. It will be our DEAL of the DAY early next week with a price that will surprise you. They are asking $26,990.
Some Mustang collectors will tell you that the 1967 Mustang Convertible is the best one to invest in. Although it is not considered to be a first generation, it does represent the maturity of the early Mustang body style with fuller fenders and a larger engine compartment, plus more cargo room. The one you see here is from Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles, California. The original color combination with Clearwater Aqua paint and a blue interior is seen in the photos. . This is a Factory C Code car that comes equipped with a 289 V8 engine with an automatic transmission, soft top, and alloy wheels. They tell us it is mechanically sound. Any prospective buyer should have it inspected before they buy. But hurry. The price on this one is only $24,750.
A young lady in Hubertus, Wisconsin is offering a beautiful Guards red 2005 Porsche Boxster for sale. It is in pristine condition and has been painstakingly maintained and stored on a battery tender in the winter months. This car has only 48k actual miles and comes with a black leather interior which is very clean (see photos) and a black soft top. The car has a 5-speed manual transmission for a sporty ride. It comes with air conditioning, ABS brakes, AM/FM stereo with CD, climate control, cruise control, fog lamps and heated mirrors. Note the build sheet and Car Fax linked in the ad. Try to find another one at this price. She's only asking $18,000.
Designed for battle field transpotation, the military Jeep was a rugged vehicle. The civilian versions were just as tough. Ellingson Motorcars has listed a 1953 Wiilys Jeep which was built for civilian use. It is a CJ-3B model with the Hurricane four cylinder engine and 3-speed manual transmission with the 4X4 option. It also comes with a custom top. Ellingson tells us it was refinished in a bright maroon painit with custom vinyl black top. Sharp. It has aftermarket chrome rims and radials that make it ride smooth on road surfaces. But if you go off-road it will take you wherever you want to go. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week because their asking price is $14,995.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
