The Shelby 427 Cobra may just be the most sought after collector car of all time. You could certainly make an argument for that based on the fact that it is the most often replicated car of all time. But a real deal Shelby 427 Cobra? Wow! That really is something most car collectors can only dream about.
That's why it was big news when Motorcar Classics out of Farmingdale, New York listed a real deal 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra for sale here in the Cars-On-Line.com Shelby Section online. Listed in the Shelby American Registry, it is a real Cobra with the CSX3105 serial number. Back in the day it was billed to Leslie Motors in Monterey, California as a new car in 1965. The current owner acquired the Cobra in 1988, and it has been in storage most of the time since then.
At one point, CSX3105 was sent to Jack Roush Racing in Livonia, Michigan to prep it for a car show. While there, it received a new alloy block 427 re-worked to 514 ci displacement. It was repainted to its current vibrant metallic Burgundy color and re-upholstered in beige leather. A hood scoop and drivers roll bar were also installed. The restored Shelby Cobra was pictured in the Shelby American Registry on page 60. Today it remains in show condition with only 300 miles on the odometer.
Motorcar Classics is also representing a second 1963 Shelby Cobra, CSX2007, for the same owner. This one is one of the 289 Cobras built by Shelby in 1963. It now has identical paint to the 427 Cobra shown above. Sort of a His and Hers matching set.
For more on the history of the Shelby 427 Cobra, you'll find a full report in the MyDreamCar.online blog site today. Be sure to tell us about your Shelby 427 Cobra stories in the comments section below the article. We love to hear your car stories.

This 1969 Shelby GT500 is a very special find for Ford muscle car collectors. According to the private seller from Greensboro, North Carolina, it comes heavily documented and with its original Super Cobra Jet big block 428 motor. In fact, he says he believes the engine, transmission and rear end are all numbers matching. And this one comes with the highly desirable Drag Pack option. Grabber yellow was a special order color for 1969. The car has benefitted from a detailed restoration, and comes with the Deluxe Marti Report, original invoice, the original order form and more. Only 1,536 GT-500's were produced that year, the least of the three years of production. The '69 version of the Shelby GT500 was 4 inches longer than the previous year models. It gave the '69 and '70 models a distinctive look. Many think they were the best looking of the Shelby GT's.
If you are looking of a great driving 1970 Chevelle SS big block car, you may want to check this one out. It is being offered from Coyote Classics in Green, Iowa. Watch the interesting walk-around video (or click the video window above) and you may note that this big block Chevelle is an older restoration with about 2,000 miles on it since the redo. They say it drives and runs well, with power steering, power front disc brakes, working cowl induction hood, dual exhaust and rides on SS rims. See how straight it is in the video scenes.

This week's DEAL of the DAY preview has some of the finest collector cars we've ever offered at such low prices. Just look at the popular collector cars in this week's DEALs. This is where we give newsletter readers first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page during the coming week. Often these cars sell right here in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
A collector from the state of Maine is offering his split bumper 1971 Camaro for sale. He says this clean muscle car is a really nice driver and rock solid underneath. It has a built 350 ci Chevy small block with around 375 horsepower. This is not a numbers matching car. In fact, this one is a nice SS tribute with new gaskets, Turbo 350 transmission with shift kit, Hurst slap shifter, 10-bolt posi Trans Am rear end with 4.10 gears, dual Flowmaster exhaust with headers, brand new Rally wheels and tires, Z28 gauges and coil over rear shocks. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is only $14,495.
This 1957 Cadillac Series 62 Coupe DeVille is a real luxury car for its time. Only the Eldorado Brougham or Lincoln Continental Mark II could be considered more luxurious. It is finished in correct Mountain Laurel paint with an Alpine white hardtop. Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia has it for sale. They say it is very well optioned with a 365 ci V8, three-speed automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, power windows and power seat. Watch a walk-around video to see the condition. They say the paint and body present as a nice driver quality car with excellent bumpers, chrome, trim and glass. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday as the asking price is set at $27,900.
Here is an interesting 1957 Ford Thunderbird fiberglass tribute, a replica of the great American classic first generation T-Bird. It is being offered through a broker called Haggle Me. They tell us it has just 22k miles showing on the odometer, and that the car is only 9 months old. It comes with a 302 ci Ford roller motor, automatic AOD transmission, padded dash, power steering, power disc brakes, cold air conditioning, removable hardtop, all new exhaust, optional fender skirts, posi rear end and a new Flowmaster exhaust. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday as their asking price is just $17,000.
A rare 1953 Mercury Monterey Station Wagon is being offered for sale by another collector from the state of Maine. This is a driver quality, low-mile vehicle with 3rd row seat option to make it a 9-passenger wagon. They say a lot of money was invested in making it mechanically sound with a rebuilt Flathead V8 and overdrive transmission. Close inspection will show that patches have been done to the floors and repairs are evident to the rocker panel area. This is one of several vehciles from a collection. It will be one of the featured cars in the DEAL of the DAY spot on the Cars-On-Line.com home page this week if it lasts that long. The asking price is $14,995.
A Corvette enthusiast from Beacon Falls, Connecticut has just listed his 1973 Corvette L-48 Coupe for sale this week. Of course, it has a Corvette 350 ci V8 engine with a 4-speed. It has premium extras like the T-tops and leather interior, and it is an air conditioned Corvette with power windows and power steering. Most important, the seller says it is an excellent running car which looks good to boot. Notice the new Redline tires and rims. Nice. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week when it will be featured on the front page of the desktop version of the Cars-On-Line.com website. The asking price on this one is only $18,000. Did you ever think you'd be able to buy a Corvette this cheap?
Light pickup trucks from the 1960's are really very hot right now. We think it is because they now are so hard to find that we look at them with a new awareness. They are truly iconic of the '60s generation. A collector from Cascade, Iowa just listed this 1965 Ford F100 Custom Cab Pickup for sale. He tells us it is a nice drive quality F100 with new seat cover and carpet. The "older paint job" still show very well and the truck is solid with no rust anywhere. It comes with the six cylinder engne that would be right for that era, and the seller says it "runs perfect." Note the three-on-a-tree manual transmission. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on toward the end of next week. The seller is asking $12,000.
This is probably the "sleeper deal" of the week. Playtoys, a classic car dealer out of Redlands, California, is offering this hard-to-find pre-war 1941 Ford 2-Door Sedan which has been street rodded. Check the photos, this one is really sharp looking. You know these pre-war Fords are really at a premium. We think every collector should be looking for these cars. Ford did not make many before they had to close for WWII military production. It is equipped with a rebuilt 302 Ford V8, C4 automatic transmission, electric fan, power steering, front disc brakes, power windows, tilt steering, Vintage air and a stereo system. And, yes, it does not a Mustng front end with 8" rear end. It would be pretty hard to find one this nice for the askiing price. They only need $23,995.
