When the conversation turns to the top muscle cars of all time there are relatively few cars that deserve to be mentioned. The Plymouth Hemi Cuda, the Ford Mustang Boss 429, the Dodge Hemi Challenger, the Chevrolet Chevelle SS LS6, the Buick Gran Sport Stage 1 and the Oldsmobile 442 W-30 will be in the mix. But the sleeper in the group is the Pontiac GTO Ram Air IV.
A Starlight black 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge with Ram Air IV option and a 4-speed has been listed for sale by Restore A Muscle Car in Lincoln, Nebraska. Their's is a well-known Pontiac muscle car shop. Owner Dave Hall has had Pontiacs since he was in high school. He tells us this one is a full numbers matching example acquired from a private collection. He decided that the engine really needed to be rebuilt and brought back to the performance of its glory days. So the experts at RAMC put the life back into this fire breathing legend. It now runs and drives like it did when it rolled out of the Pontiac, Michigan plant. There are only test and tune miles on the car since completion. (Follow this link to view more photos.)
To give you an idea of just how rare the black on black beauty really is, it is one of only 3,629 GTO Judge hardtops built in 1970. But more than that, it is one of only 627 Ram Air 4-speed cars produced. A total of 804 RA IV cars were produced by Pontiac that year. More important, though, is that it is one of only 325 Ram Air IV Judges with manual transmission in 1970.
Although the factory rating was only 370 horsepower, you can sense the power in these RA IV cars when you go through the gears. You don't shift until you hit 6 grand, and you will chirp the tires easily going into second gear. The engine has special cylinders with big round exhaust ports, cast exhaust manifolds, aluminum two-piece intake manifold, 1.65 rocker arms, and the carburetors were specially jetted just for this engine. It created an amazing 445 foot pounds of peak torque.
RAMC tells us they also rebuilt the transmission, including a new clutch, pressure plate. You will note the fully detailed engine compartment, hood tach and full factory gauges. The car has power steering, power brakes, black bucket seats with factory console and new dual exhaust.
Of course, the Ram Air IV GTO Judge comes with PHS documentation. It is the 'dream car" of many Pontiac gear heads. We only see a few Ram Air IV cars a year available for sale to the public.

Some sweet deals are happening in the classic car market right now. The number of classic car collectors is contracting with the aging of the Baby Boom generation. So those of us that are left are seeing some attractive prices occuring in the market right now. This may be the opportunity you've been waiting for. Here is a sharp looking 1929 Ford Model A Roadster that was just listed this week. GR Auto Gallery out of Grand Rapids, Michigan is offering it for sale for just $13,900. And they won't charge you a penny extra for the charming patina. The car rides on the stock wheels with twin fender mounted spare tires. Their promo says, "The engine starts up with no fuss and its more than happy to cruise at 50 mph." It also has a rear mounted luggage rack and the fold out rumble seat. GR Auto Gallery has a few classic Fords in this week's DEAL of the DAY feature below in this newsletter. Hurry! These are some great prices.
A Wexford, Pennsylvania man listed his 1965 Dodge Coronet with the 500ci Wedge motor last week. In fact, it appeared in our DEAL of the DAY feature in last week's newsletter. It did not take long for the Pennsylvania collector to find his buyer. This week there is a SOLD sign on his Coronet ad. You can still see the photos of the beautiful interior and carpet, new door handles, mirrors, bumpers, sub frame connectors, power steering, and tilt steering wheel. The 3" custom exhaust with custom header cutouts, built Torqueflite and stall converter are all signs of what this car is all about. Once it made our DEAL of the DAY feature it was sure to sell. Now the seller knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below. The ultimate exotic sports car back in the early 1970's was the 1972 Maserati Indy 4.7 Coupe such as the one now being offered for sale here by Daniel Schmitt & Company in St Louis, Missouri. The Indy 4.7 litre was produced from 1969 through 1975. It is a fastback grand tourer with more creature comforts than previous Maserati sports cars. Finding one in this condition is very rare. The color is called Arantia with a beautiful black leather interior. Showing only 18k miles (believed to be original), it still retains its original matching numbers 4.7 litre engine. Options include power steering, power windows, factory air conditioning, Koni shocks, and the ZF five-speed manual transmission. It is a significant find for the collector who wants a Ferrari type experience with creature comforts. Daniel Schmitt & Company believe it is the finest Indy available on the market today. Cruisin' Classics in Columbus, Ohio just posted this 1957 Chevrolet Sedan Delivery, a nice looking classic custom with all the right upgrades. It will be featured on our CarsOnLine.tv video ad page this week. Kurt from Cruisin' Classics calls it a show quality specimen loaded with all of the finer things in life with power everything. See a long list of upgrades noted in the ad copy. He says it is "very easy to drive with a perfectly matched drive train and all of the power options used in the mobility and stop-ability of this wagon." The red paint is noted as "outstanding." Look at the photos and the video. The undercarriage is as nice as the top.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
It has been proven over the past twenty years that the Chevrolet Camaro is the most popular "blue collar" classic muscle car in the collector car market. Some muscle cars may be more desirable and expensive, but the Camaro is a car that every collector wants to own. So here is a 1967 Camaro SS Convertible with a small block 350 Chevy motor. It is a driver class car with an upgraded 700R automatic transmission and posi traction rear end. The seller from Yorktown Heights, New York says there are only 38k miles on this attractive Lemans blue Camaro. But the asking price will surprise you. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is $29,000. For a first generation Camaro convertible that is said to be a Super Sport, that is an attractive number.
Pre-war Fords in original type condition are not all that easy to find today. So when this 1935 Ford Tudor Standard Sedan was listed by GR Auto Gallery in Grand Rapids, Michigan this week we were surprised at the low price. This is a sweet classic Ford with a charming patina, which they say is in very nice shape overall. It has been with its current owner for around 20 years. The deep blue repaint was done around 15 years ago. "It runs and drives well and will be sure to turn heads," they say in their ad. It still has the flathead V8 and Henry's steel body. The blue paint is accented by red pinstripe and red wire wheels, whitewall tires, chrome bumpers, and large running boards. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $16,900.
1955 and 1956 Dodge Coronets were at the lower end of the Dodge model spectrum. They were the first cars designed by Virgil Exner, lower, longer and with more chrome and bright work. It was the beginning of the "forward style look." This 1956 Dodge Coronet is an excellent example of the original look of the Coronet in 1956. It is being offered for sale by Ellingson Motorcars out of Rogers, Minnesota. They say it is a driver quality car that shows well in the photos. Be sure to inspect the photos of the undercarriage. Not detailed for show, it looks very solid as is consistent with a No. 3 condition driver. Here is an opportunity to obtain a very nice looking original style 1950's classic for your collection. You have to admit that the price is right. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday with an asking price of $24,995.
Streetside Classics has an interesting post this week with this 1940 Ford Tudor Sedan street rod. It is located at their Ft Worth, Texas showroom. To find a desriable and completed street rod in this price range is opportunistic. The eye-popping orange paint will get you noticed and the sturdy construction that the 1940 Fords are known for is truly represented here. Streetside tells us it has strong body alignment. Check it out for yourself in the photos. Then click the video link here to preview a nice walk-around tour. Be sure to check out the interior which is nicely equipped for comfort and fun, including a set of white faced VDO gauges that look great inside their brushed aluminum cluster panel. Air conditioning system is hidden under the dash. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $28,995.
A private seller from Jacksonville, Florida is offering his mild custom 1956 Ford Customline Hardtop for sale. The custom mods on this car are tastefully done. The shaved body gives it a whole new look. It comes with a Ford 312 ci V8 engine. The seller says it has a very nice interior. We would love to inspect this one for you. The engine compartment as presented in the photo looks clean. You will want to verify whether it goes down the road straight and whether it is road worthy. But any way you look at it this one seems like a lotta' car for the money. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $21,000. A sharp looking custom for that kind of money? Don't wait too long to have it inspected.
Pontiac collectors will remember the Firebird Formula as the equivalent of a "poor man's" Trans Am. All the performance of a T.A. but at a lower price point. It is still that way today in the collector car market. You can buy this 1973 Pontiac Firebird Formula from Anaheim, California for $19,500 (way below the $25,000 blue book value.) The seller says it is a "correct" U87" VIN Formula. The color is Regatta blue with black interior. Although this is not a big block Formula, it comes with the more economical 350 V8, with a TH350 automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, disc brakes, air conditioning, power windows, tilt steering and Rallye wheels. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week.
Here is another great old Ford being offered by GR Auto Gallery out of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Built by its current owner last year, this 1929 Ford Hot Rod features an all-steel body brought back from out West. The seller says the '51 Mercury Flathead V8 engine was completely rebuilt and was upgraded with oversized 0.060 bore, 4-inch stroke and upgraded pistons. It has a 4-speed overdrive from a 1990's Ford F-150 pickup. Of course, it uses a Ford 9-inch rear end. Check out the interior in the photos at the ad link. Nice grey vinyl and Autometer gauges. It also features a 12-volt starter and electric fuel pump. The hot rod body is an interesting build accompanied by classic looking grille, dual exhaust and alloy wheels. With an asking price of $16,900, it will be our DEAL of the DAY next Friday, if it lasts that long.

Just a week was all it took to sell this beautiful 1965 Dodge Coronet. Clyde used the $45.00 Run Till Sold ad and it sure paid off!
"It worked well. I like that is stays on until it SOLD. Great deal!" That's what Bill emailed in after using the $45.00 Run Till Sold ad and sent his 1965 Mustang Fastback to a new home.
The 26 photo SLIDE SHOW ad also paid off for James after selling his 1956 Chevy 210 Sedan less than 2 weeks after placing the ad.
