When we welcomed a new classic car dealer to our Cars-On-Line.com Dealer Network this week we had no idea we would find a true diamond-in-the-rough among their inventory. Blackdog Performance Cars in Lincolnshire, Illinois joined our dealer network with some acclaim. Their inventory is well photographed and they have a varied mix of top level collector cars to offer. But our eyes opened wide when we saw this 1969 Corvette L-88 Convertible, a hidden treasure which we knew would shock the collector car market this week.
The L-88 Corvette was a special project for Chevrolet. It was only produced in 1967, 1968 and 1969. The L-88 Corvette had a motor that could not only make you a local hero at the drag strip, but was equally dominant in races such as the 24 Hours of Daytona or Sebring. Only 216 L-88 Corvettes ever rolled off the assembly line at the St. Louis, Missouri Chevrolet plant, and only 116 of these were produced in 1969. The L-88 Corvette option was actually a racing package. It came with the 427 big block racing engine boosting 430 horsepower. But the package would also include the L-88 hood, a heavy-duty M22 Rock Crusher 4-speed transmission, J56 heavy duty disc brake calipers, J50 power brakes, the F41 heavy duty suspension, and the desirable transistor ignition.
This Can-Am white 1969 Corvette L-88 Convertible which you see here photographed in the Blackdog Performance showroom is a Bloomington Gold Hall of Fame survivor, the best one left in the country. They tell us it is a multiple award winning L88. In fact, Blackdog says it is one of the lowest-mile, all original '69 L-88 Corvettes in the world. The odometer reads just 6,456 miles (see photos in the ad). They say this does accurately represent the actual mileage on this car. The 430 horsepower motor spins an M-22 Muncie close-ratio transmission to transfer power to the Posi-Trac rear pumpkin housing 3.70 gears. (Radio and air conditioning were never available with the L-88 package.)
Blackdog Performance tells us the black vinyl interior is in amazing condition, with no cracks, rips, or tears. The vinyl soft top is white, while the auxiliary hardtop is finished in black vinyl, also showing in very good condition.
A huge selling point for the top collectors in the collector car hobby is documentation. Boy, has this L-88 got it. It comes with its original build sheet, tank sticker, window sticker, owner’s manual, warranty book, original owner’s mileage statement, and original bill of sale.
To see more of the Blackdog Performance Cars inventory click this link. We will be following their listings during the coming months.
Readers who want to read more about this legendary muscle car will find a detailed history on the MyDreamCar.online blog site. Be sure to use the comments box at the bottom of the blog to tell us your recollections of the L-88 Corvette. We love to hear your stories.

A collector from Oxford, Georgia told us a great story this week. Way back in 2010 he bought this 1951 Studebaker Champion Regal Starlight Coupe off the Cars-On-Line.com website. So when he wanted to sell it again a few weeks ago natually he thought of Cars-On-Line.com again. "The ad first appeared on Nov.8, 2018," he told us. " ... and the car was verbally sold on Nov. 10, 2018. Stephanie (COL employee) was a MAJOR help to me in getting my ad with 7 photos placed correctly. Without a doubt, this is the best web site to use if one is looking to buy or sell a classic car. THANK YOU!"
Now he knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below where you will see all of the private sellers who SOLD their cars through COL this week. When you see how effective a Cars-On-Line.com ad can be, you may want to advertise your car with Cars-On-Line.com. Click here to start your ad now.

The Fall Raleigh Classic Auction for 2018 will be held on December 7-8 in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is one of those events all the good ole boys from the Southeast know about. For some years now, Chris Lieth has sponsored this unique classic car auction drawing some really nice low-mile collector cars. It is the auction all the classic car dealers just can't miss. If you can't be there in person you can register now to place your phone bids. Here are some of the featured cars we look forward to seeing in December:
Here are some of the exciting headliners for the Fall 2018 Raleigh Classic Auction event:
When we talk about the Fall 2018 Raleigh Classic Auction we expect to see some very desirable muscle cars being offered for sale, many of them in the Corvette muscle car category. So as not to dissapoint they have announced that a very desirable 1972 Corvette LT1 Convertible will be offered for sale. This red Corvette is one of only 398 ever built. It has been documented by the "L" in the VIN denoting the LT-1 option. The LT-1 option includes a heavy duty close ration 4-speed transmission.
At the Fall 2018 Raleigh Classic there will also be a variety of convertibles and low miles cars from the 1960's. Here is a super "hard-to-find" 1960 Buick LeSabre Convertible sporting a 368 ci Wildcat engine and a 2-speed automatic transmission. Said to be numbers matching, it is mostly original with 59,400 miles (believed to be actual.) The colors are as rare as the car itself. It feaures original silver paint with a new midnight blue convertible top. The silver is original to the car but the top was an upgraded color. Natually it features a myriad of options.
This is a good example of what we mean when we say the Raleigh Classic consistently comes up with rare cars and trucks that you don't see at other auctions. This 1947 GMC Pickup is a striking looking original truck from Arizona. The current owner says it has no rust and only one repaint in its lifetime. Under the hood you'll find the 228 ci original motor and a 3-speed transmission on the tree. The auction officials tell us it is a real nice classic pickup with no flaws. Now where do you find buried treasure like this? At the Raleigh Classic.
There will be a pretty good selection of classic woody station wagons here at the Fall 2018 Raleigh Classic, according to the inventory they currently are showing for this event. A good example is this 1937 Ford Woody Station Wagon which will be offered at the auction. It is equipped with a new GMC crate 350 HO motor and automatic transmission. Look at the beautiful wood headliner in the promo photos. The estimate says it may sell for between $48,000 and $52,000 (about half of what they are going for on the West Coast.)
Also see these very rare lots:
1957 Ford Skyliner Retractable
1936 Ford Woody Wagon
2016 Shelby GT-H
1925 Hupmobile Tudor Sedan
1955 Ford Thunderbird
1935 Desoto Airflow

Here's a gorgeous number with a subtle yet attractive color combination, a desirable rare feature, and an ear perking design background. It's a 1951 Muntz Jet Convertible, said to be one of four that left the factory with a 'hop-up' kit consisting of Edmunds aluminum cylinder heads and intake manifold, as well as dual Carter WCD carbs. The restoration of this Muntz is stunning, and it was featured in the Hemmings Motor News in June 2007. Originally listed at $169,895, it's now been marked down to $124,895!

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.

When a private seller from Port Charlotte, Florida listed his 1957 Ford Fairlane Sunliner (convertible) this week, we knew we had to feature it here in the DEAL of the DAY. This is a car that the seller says runs well and shifts well. "Perfect glass all around," he tells us. "Brand new Ford white convertible top and all power top mechanicals. New motor, pistons, etc." He says it "turns heads and looks pretty." He notes the "beautiful custom interior including custom convertible boot cover." Most important, the color combination is real popular on this one: red over white. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is only $26,900.

For a collector car "wanna be" here is one of the best deals you'll find in a car that can be considered a classic. The private seller from Rockport, Massachusetts who listed this 1951 Lincoln Town Car, for instance, says it is the best buy in the market right now. (His words.) Any buyers would be well served to have it inpected and appraised before they buy. But look at the photos. The seller says it is "all original, except for the quality repaint in the factory color." The interior photo does show wear on the upholstery, so there is need for some TLC. But if the car is as solid as it looks, it may be worth your time to check it out. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $18,000.

Along with the general trend in the rest of the collector car market, the market for first generation Ford Thunderbirds has seen declining prices in the past few years. It seems that every week now there is a first generation Ford Thunderbird in our DEAL of the DAY. T-Bird buyers can afford to be picky. So here is a 1957 Ford Thunderbird being offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars in Las Vegas, Nevada. They say it is a good driver and a California car with original documentation. It comes with the 312 V8 motor, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, power windows, a porthole hardtop, and an engine dress up kit. They describe it as a clean older restoration. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday with an asking price of $28,500.

Here is a 1940 Ford Standard Tudor Sedan with street rod primer type look that still take a nice shine. We think of it as a very light project car with a lot of work already done. You will not the 350 crate motor, 350 transmission, Lokar shifter. Mustang II front, V-butt windshield, tinted glass, new '39 Ford headlight assy, '40 Ford LED taillights, new Mallory HEI distributor, plus Edelbrock intake and carb. And its an Arizona car originally. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week because the asking price is affordable for a starter car. The seller is offering it for just $13,500.

VW vans and campers are still a hot collector item for Gen-X'ers on the West Coast. So consider this red VW Camper Bus which has been in the same family since it was new. The sales agent from Grand Rapids, Minnesota says the motor is brand new with a larger cam shaft, Flame Thrower distributor and dual carbs, now producing 85 horsepower. The seller says this bus has been very well cared for throughout its life. However the paint is oxidized and looking a little stale. Although it has been garge kept it has not been driven daily for some time. In may ways it seems to be a project van. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $26,500.

You want to get in a classic 1965 Chevy El Camino and cruise the freeway at 75 mph. Here is a classic El Camino that fits that bill. Offered for sale by a private seller from Grand Forks, North Dakota, it has been slightly resto moded to improve its road ability. Currenty this El Camino has a brand new 355 ci GM crate motor, with aluminum heads, chromed carb, air cleaner, and valve covers. The engine compartment is detailed and includes an electric fan and aluminum radiator. The 700 R4 overdrive automatic transmission and B & M shifter make it a breeze to drive. The paint and body are original, and the seller says it drives well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY late next week. The asking price is only $9,900.

In 1959 the Edsel Ranger 4-Door model set a new record for Edsel single modle sales with over 12,000 units sold. However, what people sometimes fail to remember is that far fewer Edsel Ranger 2-Door Sedans were produced (only 7,778.) So here is a 1959 Edsel Ranger 2-Door Sedan with the distinctive roofline and one-off taillight design. Edels have such a controversial history that they are rare and unique collector cars. Streetside Classics says this Ford relative is "interesting, unique and affordable." The latter being important here. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. They have it for sale at their Charlotte, North Carolina location listed for $19,995.

Here are some of the comments from happy sellers who were nice enough to tell us about their experience advertising on the Cars On Line website.
"I purchased this 1951 Studebaker Champion Starlight Coupe in 2010 from an ad posted on Cars On Line. It has gone thru a total restoration, but I decided to sell the car to make room for other projects. Naturally, I turned to Cars On Line to run my ad. The ad first appeared on Nov.8, 2018 and the car was verbally sold on Nov. 10, 2018. Stephanie was a MAJOR help to me in getting my ad with 7 photos placed correctly. Without a doubt, this is the best web site to use if one is looking to buy or sale a classic car. THANK YOU!
"The ad worked great and the car found the perfect buyer who wanted one of these for 30 years!" What a great comment Milt from Lawrenceburg, Indiana left after using the very popular $45.00 Run Till Sold ad and sent his 1963 Ford Fairlane to a new home.
A few weeks was all it took to sell this beautiful 1934 Ford 3-Window Coupe Pro Street.
Below is a list of cars SOLD Thru Cars On Line during the past week (November 09, 2018 through November 16, 2018.)
