While Ferrari was feeling the bite of Carroll Shelby's Cobra in FIA competition internationally, on the home front Shelby American went drag racing. The result was the Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake program, and another episode in American car collecting was born. Only four of these Dragonsnake Cobras were ever sold to the public. Today one of them is for sale in the Cars-On-Line.com Shelby Section online.
Few Shelby Cobras hold the provenance and racing history that this 1965 Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake comes with. Legendary Motorcar Company, a well known muscle car dealer, is now offering it for sale. It is one of their impressive array of fresh listings this week. (See more from Legendary Motorcar Company in the New Listings below.) A Pittsburgh car enthusiast special ordered this car originally from Ed Hugus of Continental Cars in 1965. Shelby American had built the Cobra, CSX 2472, as part of their own racing program and it was never used. So Hugus bought the car with special equipment which Shelby called their Dragonsnake Stage II package, with upgrades. They incuded: 3.77 rear end, Koni Shocks instead of drag type, Stewart Warner tachometer, chrome roll bar, heater, radio, FIA style wheels, shoulder harnesses and stock car tires rather than drag specific tires. The client wanted a monster drag engine in a street driven Cobra.
The next owner in the 1965 Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake's history went racing with it but rather than drag racing, the brother and sister team took it to autocross and hill climb events. The car saw its share of wins, taking home a reported 1,200 trophies.
The car still has a fire breathing 300-horsepower 289 ci race prepped Ford V8 engine. After an unbroken chain of four known owners, the Shelby Cobra 289 Dragonsnake still retains all of its original body panels and frame. They say the body has never seen any damage. It underwent an extensive "no-expense spared" restoration in 2006. It is truly a remarkable collector car to find. It even comes with a current SVRA logbook which documents all the car's racing history back to 1968.
Follow this link to our MyDreamCar.online blog for a much more detailed history of this well documented Shelby Cobra Dragonsnake. There you'll see more about the way Continental Cars in Pittsburgh ordered and dealer assembled the Stage II Dragonsnake package.

When a 1958 Cadillac Sedan DeVille from Oak Grove, Missouri it made one of our advertisers very happy. When he filled out the Sold Form on the Cars-On-Line.com website he noted, "Another Car SOLD thanks to Cars-On-Line," said Gary. He told us his classic Cadillac was already on its way to a new home. The car came with air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, power windows and seats, plus tinted glass -- a lot of options for a classic from the 1950's. Having advertised with Cars-On-Line before, Gary already know why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below. Don't look know but exotic sports car afficianadoes are going to be salivating over their first view of the new 2019 Aston Martin DB11 AMR. This is the exciting new version of Aston Martin's big Grand Touring sports car. If the former version of the DB11, which has been around since 2016, seemed a little too big and stodgy for a true sports car lover, Aston Martin got it right in this new 2019 version now called the AMR. The headlines about this car read like this -- 630 horsepower, 208 miles per hour top speed, 0 to 100 kilometers in only 3.7 seconds. Most important, though is the crackling exhaust note. Significantly nastier. Watch this Aston Martin video to hear it for yourself. Carfection DB11 AMR video with first review. This one is being offered for sale today at Foreign Cars Italia in Greensboro, North Carolina. But hurry! These DB11 AMR's are hard to find. Call them to get your test drive today.

At a time when Ford was replacing the Falcon with the Maverick, the Falcon name was actually used on two different cars by Ford in 1970: a compact size small Ford Falcon, and a full-size 1970 ½ Falcon muscle car. The latter car was produced for less than six months and only available as a two-door "post" sedan (it has a B-pillar behind the driver door glass), distinct from the Torino and Fairlane hardtops. This 1970 1/2 Ford Falcon 429 SCJ with the Drag Pack option is a rare one indeed. It is being offered for sale this week by a private collector in Mission, Texas. The 4-speed car comes with the extremely rare 4.30 Detroit Locker rear end, and is a J Code car with shaker, oil cooler, solid lifters, and all the heavy duty performance equipment Ford had in 1970. Contact the seller to find out more about the originality and provenance of this important find.
Every so often we find a rare 1954 Kaiser Darrin 161 Roadster for sale in the Cars-On-Line.com new listings. This is the first one we've ever seen here in black and comes with a maroon top. Daniel Schmitt & Company have this one in their St. Louis showroom this week. The Kaiser Darrin was built for only one year, 1954. In fact this one is one of only 435 ever built. The Kaiser Darrin is most noted for its innovative sliding pocket doors and 3-position top. These were unique design features penned by Howard "Dutch" Darrin, the car's namesake and designer. Cars such as this are usually seen only in premier collections. Today this one is being offered to the classic car buying public.
As the Baby Boomer generation scrambles to fill out their bucket lists, classic cars are high on their agendas. First time buyers are always looking for what we call "entry level" cars or trucks. It may be the car you had in high school, or the one you owned when you got married and had to turn in your muscle car for a family sedan. That's when you look for a classic car dealer just like Good Times Classics in West Line, Missouri. They run a Finder Service for people who are looking for "starter cars."

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
This one was just posted by Classic Car Deals, a broker from the Midwest. It is a 1962 Ford Thunderbird Convertible, blue with a complementary blue top. This is quite a sharp looking color combination. Take a good look at the photos (only three showing on the site at present.) There is also only a short description. They say it has the big block Ford 390 ci engine, automatic transmission and tilt steering with power windows. They "tease" that it is a movie car without saying what movie it was in. So you'll have to call them at the number in the ad to get the rest of the story. In the photos this car looks real nice. That's why it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is only $18,995. Hurry on this one!
Here is a 1965 Mustang Convertible which really fits the definition of a "starter car." From the descriiption it seems the private seller from Whtesboro, New York has had the car for 20 years and in that time has done a lot of work on the car. He says it is a "good driver in good condition. Dependable for long or short drives." He has restored the interior, he says. He also has replaced maintenance items such as exhaust, cooling system, top end engine rebuilt and new carbs. The engine is currently a 289 V8 although the car was orignally a six cylinder. The seller says it is a driver which is also worthy of restoring. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday because the asking price is just $16,900. You don't see V8 early Mustangs in this price range very often.
Back in the day a 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 XL Convertible such as this one was the Top-O-The-Line from Ford. It was a step above the Fairlane 500. So you are looking at a very popular collector car in pretty nice looking condition (see the photos in the ad.) The engine is a 289 ci V8 with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, automatic transmission, bucket seats, console, power top that was replaced 12 years ago and in great condition. It has an aftermarket AM/FM CD player, and comes with power steering. The private seller from Shoreham, New York tells us the interior remains original, and that the chrome is in excellent condition. He says the car runs and drives excellent. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday with an asking price of $15,000.
The Nash Metropolitan was the iconic American Microcar that spawned a future generation of economy class cars. This 1961 Nash Metropolitan is being offered for sale by Streetside Classics through their classic car store in Fort Worth, Texas. They say, "Decked out in its two-tone teal and white paint job, this 1961 ably captures that sense of novelty, and it sports bumpers both fore and aft that are in very nice shape, as well as chrome and bright work that represent well over its singular form." Lift the hood and you'll find a compact inline 4-cylinder engine mated to a 3-speed automatic transmission. Click here to hear it run. The amazing thing is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is just $9,995.
Shortbed Dodge Sweptline pickups are a rare commodity in today's collector car market. Yet here is a 1967 Dodge D100 Shortbed being offered for sale by a private collector in Orange, California. If you can find one, most of these Sweptline Dodge trucks are in poor repair or rusty. This one is a one repaint (early 80's) all original sheet metal and factory spot welds, glass, interior, drivetrain, etc with just over 70K original easy miles. The seller says the truck has always been lovingly maintained, serviced, garaged and cared for. Classic trucks are really hot in today's market and this one is as rare as they come. Fortunately, it is also being offered at an affordable price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week wth an asking price of $15,500.
Anyone who has ever driven a Nissan 370Z will tell you it is a real performance sports car. The engineering is aimed at the Porsche type driver although the 370Z will be a deep discount to its German rival. Here is a late model 2010 Nissan 370Z which surprised us when we saw the price. The private seller from Mandeville, Louisiana tells us it has just 67k miles and comes with the Sport Package featuring Rays Engineering forged wheels and spoiler. The engine is the 3.7L V6 332hp with a 6-speed manual transmission. We still can't believe you can get a late model sports car of this desirability for this price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $17,000.
A Ford Mainline was the base model Ford for 1955. That may seem a little vanilla until you get so see this custom Ford resto rod. Yes, this is a 1955 Ford Mainline which has been restored to its current condition. An older restoration, this car was actually once a salvage vehicle. Now it has a Ford 302 small block engine, C4 automatic transmission and Ford rear end. The private seller from Alta Loma, California says it comes with power disc brakes front and drums on the rear, power steering, tilt column and Classic Instrument gauges. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $16,500.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
