The Baby Boomer generation cherishes the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible as America's Car. But it has become apparent in recent years that the 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is even more desirable in the collector car market. The average value is higher on the '58's especially when they are equipped with the 348 big block motor and a tripower carburetor setup. Oh, baby, that's the prescription for a "factory hot rod" if there ever was one.
1958 was a one-off year for most American makes and models. That was also the year in which chrome was "in", and General Motors used it in abundance. Thus the 1958 Chevrolet Impala was a unique, one-year only design for the ages.
This week, Vanguard Motor Sales out of Plymouth, Michigan has listed the nicest 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible we've ever seen. You just can't get enough of looking at the photos of the undercarriage. We think it just might be perfect.
Vanguard Motor Sales tells us the Impala has undergone a complete nut and bolt, frame-off rotisserie restoration done to very high standards. It has been restored with an immaculate black paint finish and comes complete with a Continental kit and dual antennas. They say the complete drivetrain is correct to the vehicle. Under the hood sits its original numbers matching Chevrolet 348ci V8 with a Tri-Power mated to the original numbers matching Powerglide automatic transmission. The red Tri-Tone interior compliments the black exterior beautifully as well as the black convertible top. The top is fully powered. The options include power windows, power steering, and power brakes.
The Tripower carb setup is progressive so when you put your foot into its go time right now. The frame is painted beautifully and it looks so sweet underneath you may stare at the photos in amazement. Everything from the pinch welds to the panel gaps will make you smile.

We hope you were able to join us online for our coverage of the Iola Car Show and Swap Meet 2018 last weekend. (If not, you may want to review some of the photos and vidoes from the show here.) We enjoyed seeing the celebrities and special car displays. This year the theme was Movie Cars and Service Vehicles, including fire trucks and police cars. Of course, many of the cars used in the Johnny Depp movie Public Enemy about John Dillinger were on display since it was filmed right there in Wisconsin. The Blue Ribbon Concours was interesting as always, with collector cars rarely seen by the public anymore. (Watch the video to see the Pass In Review for 2018 at Iola.) And the swap meet was actually bigger than ever with acres and acres of parts vendors to shop and swap. This show is so big you have to see it to believe it.
This weekend in the Midwest region of the U.S. the WeatherTech® International Challenge with Brian Redman will bring nostalgia racing back to Road America, July 19-22, 2018, in Elkhart Lake, Wiscosni. It is an exciting weekend as vintage race cars, Can Am series racers, an historic Trans Am feature and many more will test their metal on Road America’s road course. You'll travel back in time as all the sights and smells of road racing action are re-lived in a park-like setting, with trackside viewing, up-close access to drivers and teams, and legendary cuisine. Then join us each evening in downtown Elkhart Lake for a truly inspiring vintage car concours. You'll be surprised at the exotic sports cars on display there.
If you are looking for a car show in your area you may want to check the Cars-On-Line.com Car Show Calendar for all the upcoming shows, swap meets and auctions in July and August, 2018.
If you followed our Twitter page this past weekend you may have caught some of the action from the Chrysler Nationals in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. In the burnout contest (shown here left) Kelly Wilson, in her 2006 Dodge Magnum, really put on a show. She is the first lady to win a burnout contest in Carlisle's 45-year history. For more on this story click here to go to eClassicAutos.com where you'll see more photos and a video of this incredible burnout. You can also view photos from the Chrysler Nationals, as 2,750 Mopars and their owners convened for a wild weekend of show N go fun. Sassy Grass Green, Plum Crazy Purple, Top Banana Yellow and Panther Pink ... they were all there in their glory.
You never know who you are going to run into when you cover a big car show like the Chrysler Nationals and Hurst Nationals in Carlisle this past weekend. Do you remember the episode on Jay Leno's Garage where Bob Riggle and Jay took a ride in the legendary Hemi Under Glass 1969 Plymouth Barracuda Hemi Wheel Stander? They literally rolled the car causing incredible damage to the legendary race car. Well, we found Bob Riggle and his restored Hemi Under Glass in the Hurst display last weekend. Follow this link for a full video interview with Bob Riggle where he explains how the rollover happened and how he rebuilt his Hemi Under Glass wheel stander. Also in the video you'll hear him start it up and run the big Hemi Mopar engine. This is really great stuff, all captured by photo journalist Bob Boberg of eClassicAutos.com.
An Ohio collector told us that he SOLD his 1962 Chevy Nova Pro Street Wagon this week. He said his Cars-On-Line.com Slide Show ad did the trick. It only took him one week to sell his drag racing inspired Pro Street Nova Wagon. He said he was selling it to go back to racing.
Now he knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." Follow this link to the SOLD section below. When you see how effective a Cars-On-Line.com ad can be, you may want to advertise your car with Cars-On-Line. Click here to start your ad now.

Legendary Ferrari's are the talk of the collector car world right now. No one can get enough of the V-12's that Enzo Ferrari produced during the 1960's and 1970's. Today, Gullwing Motor Cars out of Astoria, New York has a remarkable 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose Alloy for sale. Only 80 of these fascinating road cars were produced. You may remember when one was recently found in a barn in New York and sold in unrestored "barn find" condition (with original dust) for $2.5 million at a Gooding & Company auction. This aluminum bodied 275 GTB Long Nose has been converted to a six carb setup, three Webers on each bank. The body by Pininnfarina is a powerful complement to the design by Scaglietti. Gullwing Motor Cars tells us it is a breathtaking driving experience only a few privileged owners will ever know.
This year's Fall Auburn Auction on Labor Day Weekend is scheduled for August 30 to September 2, 2018. RM Auctions is anticipating over 700 vehicles to cross the auction block for the giant sale. The Fall Auburn Auction is one of the features of the big Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival held in Auburn, Indiana each year on Labor Day Weekend. The auction sale at the RM Auction Park has been going on for 45 years. Here are some of the featured cars we look forward to seeing later next month:
A Grabber blue 1970 Boss 429 Mustang will be a featured car in the Fall Auburn Auction this year. The Ford Semi-Hemi Boss 9's have been selling for more than classic Mopar 1970 Hemi Cudas lately. Respect for the Boss 9 Mustangs has increased rapidly in recent years. And for good reason. With the right setup these cars could dial up some horsepower. In order to get the KK Boss 429 motor certified for NASCAR competition Ford had to produce a street version of a car that used the Boss 429 big block Semi-Hemi engine. In all, only 500 Boss 429 Mustangs were produced for 1970.
Last week we published a report on the effect the 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona had on the sports car market back in the day. (Click here to read our report.) This Daytona was brought to the U.S. and in 1981 was converted into a Spider by Michael Sheehan’s European Auto Restoration, a firm well-known for their Daytona Spider conversions. There is a known ownership line from new. Today the Daytona is presented in the traditional combination of Rosso Corsa over black leather and rides on chrome knock-off Borrani wire wheels. It has benefitted from a recent service.
A stunning 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible will be offered for sale in the Fall Auburn Auction on Labor Day Weekend. The full body-off restoration is said to have cost over $200,000. Ahead of its time, this car comes with air conditioning, cruise control and Autronic eye headlight dimmers. And, of course, it also had power windows, power steering and power brakes. They say it has all the restoration documentation included with the sale, and comes with a 390 ci V8 and automatic transmission. It is one of only 1,285 Biarritz convertibles produced in 1960.
An exotic race car that you can show or take to the track for incredible times at club races. That's the way to think about this 2017 Dodge Viper SRT GTC ACR, which will be offered for sale at the Fall Auburn Auction in Auburn, Indiana. It has the ACR package and the carbon fibre exterior add-ons. A Laguna GTS package compliments the interior. And, of course, you will note the extreme aero package. With only 15 kilometers showing on the odometer, it retains delivery tags, stickers and covers. You will also get the window sticker with the sale.

Ever since the Chicago Car Club joined our Cars-On-Line Dealer Network we have been impressed with their video ads. They figured out that our readers appreciate a video inspection, not just a pretty video presentation. They really go over the whole car for our buyers. In this 1967 MG Midget video ad they do a full walk-around, followed by close-ups of any blemishes or cosmetic problems and also include driving clips so you get the feel of this car. Most important, the video is very clear and fun to watch. If you go to their ad page here, they still have plenty of photos for you to view. This is a great way to advertise a sharp looking classic sports car.
Have you seen our CarsOnLine.tv Classic Car Video marketplace? To feature your car on CarsOnLine.tv, just add a video to your Cars-On-Line.com ad. A 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe is one of the most desirable cars in the collector car market today. They all get top dollar at collector car auctions. But here is a very interesting Split Window which is said to have only 11k miles showing on the odometer. It is being offered for sale by American Classic Car Sales in Sarasota, Florida. It has a stunning combination white exterior with red interior. They rate this one as being in "excellent condition."

Here is a nice restoration project which would really be worth doing. It is a 1960 Lincoln Continental 2-Door Hardtop. Only 1,461 of these hardtops were produced by Lincoln in 1960. This is the model which came with the larger front valance grille and the "Dagmar" bumpers. It is definitely a unique looking classic Lincoln which would be a great collector car if restored. It is the model which came with a 430 ci big block motor, and had the retractable rear window. Find it in our Project Car Section today.

An Ohio collector dropped the price on his 1966 Corvette Big Block 427/390 Coupe by $18,000 this week. The seller says this was the last one produced at the factory in '66. It is VIN #27720 out of 27,720 produced. What's more, it came from the factory loaded with options (see ad for list.) He says it has had a complete frame-off restoration with just 12 miles on odometer since the redo. The original listing price was $152,900, but he just dropped it to $134,900. NCRS Top Flight and Bloomington Gold awards.

To think that you can own a classic Camaro that looks this nice for under $50,000 is amazing enough. But one that has RS and Z/28 trim as well? That's amazing. Streetside Classics from Ft Worth, Texas has this 1968 Camaro Z/28 RS tribute in Magnetic Bright red with black stripes. It looks so sharp in the photos. It has a 350 SBC and 4-speed transmission for good measure. See it featured in this interesting walk-around video and hear its throaty cackle.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
What does it mean when a collector says he has an X11 Camaro? Starting during the 1969 production year, Fisher body assembly workers identified what trim package each Camaro would have by the body code. X11 meant that the Camaro could be an SS 350 or a non-SS 396 car. So this 1969 Camaro with the X11 code in the cowl tag would be the appropriate Camaro to have SS trim if it were to be an SS 350 car. It could also have been a big block 396 non-SS car. This one is currently being offered for sale by a collector from Cromwell, Connecticut. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because it is priced affordably at $19,500.
Connors Motorcar Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania just listed a 1940 Buick Special for sale this week. They describe it as a totally rust free vehcicle that "runs and drives great!" You may note the beautiful Burgundy paint and tan broadcloth interior in the photos. The chrome is striking for a car of that age. They say it has a smooth running 248 ci 110 hp straight eight engine mated to a 3-speed manual transmission. Extras include the outside sun visor, fog lights, bumper guards, radio, trim rings, back up lights, sport light, and wide white wall tires. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $19,500.
How many 1961 Plymouth Belvedere 2-Dr Hardtop classic Mopars could be left in existence? Now don't get it wrong here. This is probably a driver car that should make for a nice restoration project someday. But it drives and runs now. It is built on a Chevy Impala sub-frame and is powered by a Chevy small block and automatic transmission. (The tranny was converted to a floor shift automatic.) The California seller says the motor runs well, cool with good oil pressure. It has power steering and front disc brakes. Although he notes some minor rust showing, he says there is no "cancer." Most of the car is in "good" condition. Consider that it will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because of how rare it is. The askiing price is $7,900.
The special edition 1956 Dodge Lancer Texan was built for cowboys. Texas regional Chrysler dealers were the only ones to have them and they were specifically "built for the highway and at home on the range." Only 289 of these special Dodge Lancers were produced for Texas buyers. They were powered by the 315 ci Super Red Ram engine, had dual exhaust and the special D-500 suspension. Click this link to view an original Chrysler TV commercial on the Dodge Texan. Classic Car Liquidators has this one for sale. Because of its rare historic value and affordable price, it will be our DEAL of the DAY for early next week. The asking price is just $9,999.
A classic car broker from Grand Rapids, Minnesota is offering this 1965 Cadillac DeVille Convertible for sale this week. He indicates that it is in good condition for a 53-year-old classic luxury car. It kis powered by a 429 V8 with a 4-barrel carburetor, plenty of power for this grand touring Cadillac. The exterior is ivory with a sandalwood top and leather interior trimmed in cream and sandalwood. It comes with air conditioning, power brakes, power steering, power windows, power door locks, cruise control, power bench leather seats, power convertible top, factory radio. They say the top works well. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week because the asking price is just $19,500.
A super clean and original 1975 Toyota FJ-40 Land Cruiser is being offered for sale by MIchigan's classic off-road dealer, 4-Wheel Classics in Holland, MIchigan. They say it spent most of its life in Colorado with two original owners who both used it at their vacation cabins. The 79,704 miles are believed to be original. This old sport utility has not been restored. It is very solid and the original floor is still in amazing condition. It has the rear ambulance doors, rear tire carrier, and a new Warn 8,000-pound winch. It still has its 4.2L 2F Straight 6 and 4-speed manual transmission. Be sure to watch the walk-around video. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is only $26,900.
This may be the sleeper deal of the week. A Washington state collector just posted his 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix for sale with a big block 389 with 4-barrel carburetor. It is all Pontiac muscle car with power options such as power steering, power brakes, power seat and power windows. The seller says it has been restored carefully with new or rebuilt parts. This implies a dedication to keeping it original. He says all the work was done by a retired GM mechanic and done correctly. It even comes with receipts for all the work done. It is show ready in every way except for the paint. That will be left up to you. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with an asking price of $18,000. Hurry on this one!
