It was a time when the custom car hobby was thriving on both coasts. Joe Serino, Jr. from Queens, built a show quality custom '49 Chevy Convertible which was to become a local favorite. In New York City, his popular '49 Chevy Convertible was known as the "White Chevy."
It was Joe, Jr. who became fascinated by the custom car hobby, following in the footsteps of his father, Joe, Sr., who established Serino Auto Service in 1935. In the neighborhood everyone knew Joe, Sr. as a race car driver who ran Duesenberg engines in his custom fabricated race cars and Ford mills in his midget racers. Drawing renderings of custom cars and shaping sheet metal to build his dream cars came naturally to Joe, Jr. In 1962, he was driven to build an extreme custom show car that everybody knew as the "White Chevy." With the help of his borthers, Richie and Tom, they turned a '49 Chevy Convertible into a radical custom. And what an extreme build it was for the time. The custom '49 Chevy even made the cover of Custom Rodder Magazine in May of 1962. The car has remained in the Serino family all these years.
By 2012, the "White Chevy" had reached its 50th Year Anniversary. So the next generation of Serino cousins decided to build a tribute to the "White Chevy." Matt Serino built a reproduction of the original. The car you see here is the tribute "White Chevy." It is now being offered for sale. (Tap this link to read about the "White Chevy" replica for sale.)
"People who see my car relate it immediately to the 'White Chevy'," says Matt Serino. "If we take it to a show, East Coast custom rodders will come up to us and ask, 'Is that the 'White Chevy'?' It gets a lot of attention because of its heritage."
You can read the whole story of the original "White Chevy" and its authentic tribute on the MyDreamCar.online website, including excepts from the Custom Rodder magazine article from 1962. If you have stories about the "White Chevy" you can share them in the comments section below the article.

Here we are at the Daytona Turkey Run in Daytona Beach, Florida on Thanksgiving Day. Sure, we are dodging rain drops here at the Daytona Speedway, but put on your rain gear and trudge on. There are a lot of parts to find here. It is the largest Swap Meet and Car Show in the country. We'll be checking out the Parts Swap fields, the car show displays and the giant car corral. Photo-journalists Bob and Donna Boberg will be capturing all the action for you live from the show. Look for their photos and videos on the ClassiCarNews.com blog page. Bookmark this page and return to it all weekend for their updates. Or check our Facebook and Twitter pages now to see what's happening at the Daytona Speedway.
We were contacted by a happy seller this week. "Very satisfied," said Christopher after using the $45.00 Run Till Sold ad. He wa notifying us that he had SOLD his 1959 Plymouth Fury. Yes, that rare '50s Mopar with the popular coral paint scheme is "down the road." Christopher told us it was a solid Texas car, well maintained, and he was the third owner. He passed the original paperwork on to the new owner. It had the reliable 318 ci V8 with a four-barrel and Powerflite automatic transmission. Now Christopher knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell on Cars-On-Line." To view more vehicles SOLD thru Cars-On-Line this week, follow this link to the SOLD section below. Start advertising with Cars-On-Line at this link!

If you are a Mopar fan here is a story you have to follow. A collector from Switzerland has a real 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart SS which is listed in the Chrysler Registry. This Super Stock Hemi Dart was assembled at the Hurst plant and is one of the rarest Mopar rides you can find. Mopar historian Galen V. Govier says it is No. 26 of 53 known to exist. It is one of 80 ever produced by Hurst. The seller says it has all the original Lightweight parts, such as: front fenders, hood, side doors, front bumper and side windows. The Swiss collector has owned the Hemi Dart since 2003 and has gone through the car and reconditioned it. He says he used four Dart parts cars to bring it to near original factory condition. Check it out thoroughly. It is hard to get an inspection done in Switzerland. But if this one checks out, it would be a diamond in the rough for a top Mopar collector.
What do you think is under the hood of this 1969 Camaro? One of our clients tasked us with finding a qualified inspector to discover the answer. You can read the inspection report here. Some cars are ten footers, i.e. they look better from ten feet away than up close. You might not even notice the imperfections in photos. If you want to be sure about what you're buying, you don't have to look any farther than the Cars On Line Inspection Referral Service. They will give you a firsthand account and answer specific questions you might have about a potential investment. In the case of this 1969 Camaro, the documentation became a concern. The inspector had some advice for the buyer that helped to influence his buying descision. Put one of our inspection service contractors to work for you. Order an inspection here.
We asked you which celebrity car collection you'd like to have in your garage. You answered by taking our Celebrity Car Collection Poll. Jay Leno received 39-percent of your votes! You can see more from his collection on his YouTube channel, Jay Leno's Garage. Other notable contenders were Tim Allen and Bill Goldberg, tied with 18-percent of your votes. All three of these collections feature interesting "blue collar" classic cars, and are the kinds of cars America grew up with in the 50s, 60s, and 70s. Leno, Allen, and Goldberg all demonstrated a passion for their collections that goes beyond just throwing money at something rare. They are genuine car guys and their collections show it.
The Winter 2017 Raleigh Classic Auction in Raleigh, North Carolina is nearly here! Register to bid now, and then make your way to the North Carolina State Fairgrounds December 8-9, 2017 for the show. The folks at Raleigh Classic Car Auctions work hard to find rare and interesting vehicles for auction. Take a peek below at some of the cars crossing the auction block in two weeks.
Seldom seen, yet very desirable is the 1957 Dodge Custom Royal Convertible. This particular example will be up for bid at the Winter 2017 Raleigh Classic Auction, lot #: D-706. We're told it's very close to 100% original condition and shows just 61,858 miles on the odometer. What's more, they say all aspects of the car are truly remarkable, including the undercarriage.
This 1928 Essex Super 6 Coach is a restored, rebuilt street rod that has been totally rewired with modern wiring. Powering the vehicle is a 1985 Buick Grand National V6 engine with R700 automatic 3-speed transmission. Other features include: a rebuilt rear end, new front disc brakes, and new brake lines. You can see more photos at the link above. It's lot #: D-730.
There are some great muscle cars scheduled to cross the auction block at the Winter Raleigh Classic, including this 1969 Camaro Z/28. We're told the Garnet Red cruiser is a rare, early built Norwood car that has undergone an older frame-off restoration. It still has its factory markings and original quarters/floors. Under the hood sits a DZ engine. It's lot #: D-899.
Also see these lots:
2000 Ferrari 360 Modena, Lot #: D-929

Mark your calendars! The Winter Raleigh Classic Auction is one of our favorites. For many years it was one of the best kept secrets in the collector car hobby. Many of the vehicles up for auction are low mileage, unrestored vehicles in original or mint condition. What's more, the prices are usually pretty affordable. Don't miss it, December 8-9, 2017.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be featured in the DEAL of the DAY section on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
A popular muscle car has been chosen as Cars-On-Line's featured DEAL of the DAY for Saturday. We are announcing here the our best muscle car deal this week is a 1970 Buick GS 455 Hardtop being offered for sale by Vintage Motorcars of Sun Priarie, Wisconsin. They tell us it has a totally matching numbers Ram Air 455 Buick engine and an original Turbo 400 automatic transmission. They indicate that there are only about 67k original miles. The previous owner says the engine was completely rebuilt at about 60k miles. Click here to view a detailed walk-around video. They say this car will not let you down. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday with an asking price of just $24,900.
For the last month or so we've had some intriguing DEALs of the DAY involving first generation Ford Thunderbirds. This week is no exception. Check out this 1956 Ford Thunderbird posted by Beverly Hills Car Club in Los Angeles. This one is white with a tuxedo interior, and comes equipped with an automatic transmission, power steering, OEM radio, continental kit, solid wheels with whitewall tires. It also comes with the auxiliary hardtop. Beverly Hills Car Club says they have the original window sticker and service records. The T-Bird is a popular collector car. But seldom do you see them priced so low. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday priced at just $24,750.
A very desirable 1947 Mercury Convertible is being sold out of a private collection. Classic Gas Motors is selling the car for their client. They say the Flathead motor had to be worked on to get it started, but they say it now runs well. The interior has some tears and things to fix. It has a factory power top, but the material will have to be replaced. This is a wonderful and important collector car to find. Since it needs some TLC, you will be able to buy it for far below its value. You'll see it being advertised on our front page on Monday when it will be our DEAL of the DAY. The asking price is $29,500.
Next Tuesday this unique 1939 Buick Century Super Eight will be our DEAL of the DAY on the front page of the Cars-On-Line website. A private seller from Lucas, Iowa has listed it for sale at a very affordable price. He says it is a nice old original car restored in 1984. But he says it runs and drives real nice so we figure it to be a driver quality ride. He says there is no rust. Look at the photos in the ad and you may spot the nice maroon interior. The factory Straight 8 has two 1-barrel carbs and dual exhaust. The seller says he needs his storage space back. So this one will be going to a new home. The asking price is only $13,500.
A collector from Edinburg, Virginia listed a few cars this week at great prices. This one was especially interesting. It is a 1968 AMC AMX Javelin, a hot little sports car with a 290 ci V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor and 4-speed manual transmission. It also has some all new replacement parts: Edelbrock carburetor, clutch, pressure plate, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and radiator. The 373 geared, 12-bolt rear end would be great for burnouts. It comes with dual exhaust. They say it only has 85,000 miles. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week wtih an asking price of $18,000.
You have to see the ad for this 1968 Ford Ranchero offered by a private seller in London, Ontario, Canada. He says it is all stock original which was special ordered using the Code 74 vehicle code. It came in Meadow Lark yellow with a parchment vinyl intrior, remote control mirror, AM radio, electric clock and rubber flooring. This was considered very unusual for its time. The most unusual part is the bed. It is in mint condition, they say. It doesn't even look like it was ever used for hauling. The truck originally came from British Columbia (climate similar to California.) It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $18,500.
This little Japanese made sports car was not yet well known here in the U.S. when it appeared on the scene in 1969. Yet for the road rally enthusasts at the time it was an inexpensive and thrilling way to enjoy a sporty ride. This 1969 Datsun 1600 is powered by a fast 1,600 cc 4-cylinder engine with dual carbs and a 4-speed manual transmission. This one is being offered for sale by Fast Lane Classic Cars in St. Charles, Missouri. They say it now has a new canvas convertible top, and is believed to have just 74k original miles. Take a good look at the photos in the ad. I think you will agree that this is a lotta' car for just $14,000. Hurry!
