If 1958 was one of the most iconic years for classic car production, then the top car from that year has to be the 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. We know it is the most desired collector car among today's car hobbyists.
Streetside Classics out of Atlanta, Georgia has this Rio Red 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible for sale this week. The right car, the right color, the right motor. It doesn't get any better than this. It comes with the 348 big block with a Tripower, three 2-barrel carburetors. To top that off, it is equipped with a continental kit and comes with the Tri-Tone interior. They tell us it sits beautifully restored and highly correct, offering everything an investor could want, and everything a car hobbyist is looking for.
Check out the photos when you follow this link to the Streetside Classics ad page. They tell us the panel gaps are excellent and the doors close with ease. The trunk lines up just right, and the giant hood lines up neatly with the massive chrome grille. Whoever ordered this Rio Red classic really knew what he was doing. All the panels and metal are so nice you know the restorer had to have spent an incredible amount of time getting everything just right before it was bolted into place.
With a dual exhaust system and glasspack-type mufflers it has a rich rumble, just right for a '50s hot rod. Beautifully detailed chassis components, shiny red floors, and all-new hardware make this a car you can drive and show with confidence, Streetside says in their ad.
Cars restored to this level are one in a thousand. Streetside tells us this iconic Rio Red 1958 Chevrolet Impala convertible adds up to a blue-chip, Number One condition investment car.
Be sure to read the blog on this 1958 Chevrolet Impala Convertible. We invite you to tell us your stories about your classic Impala, or ones you've known. This is the big weekend for the Auctions America Ft Lauderdale Auction. It is one of the first major collector car auctions of the spring car show season. Cars On Line will be hosting a streaming session online on Saturday for its readers. If you have a few hours to relax and enjoy the Auctions America video stream along with us it should be as entertaining as it is informative. We'll preview some of the more interesting sales on our blog site, and then discuss them with our readers on our Facebook page. Join us and a few hundred of our closest friends as we chew over prices and condition class on select sales. One of the reasons we like this sale so much is that every once in a while a really nice car will go for an affordable price. Who knows, while you're watching you might get lucky. Here's how to register for online bidding.
Just when we thought internet scams had vanished they raise their ugly head again. The Federal Trade Commission has been warning about scammers who persuade their victims to pay deposits on cars with Amazon gift cards. Evidently Amazon will sell gift cards in amounts of up to $2,000. So now scammers are placing fake ads and asking that you pay them a down payment using Amazon gift cards. (Amazon does not condone the use of their gift cards for this purpose.) The FTC warns that if you share the code from an Amazon gift card with someone, you’re giving that person control of the money on the card. By the time you realize it’s a scam and report it, the money will likely be gone. The same tactic is used to persuade you to pay for electronics, taxes, bail money, debts, or utility or cable bills. Payment may also be requested using iTunes cards. Click here to read the report on the FTC blog page. Buyer beware!
Ted from Westport, Ontario, Canada said he SOLD his 1963 Chevy Impala SS Convertible in ONE DAY! When he notified us that his car had SOLD, Ted was kind enough to let us know he only had his ad on Cars On Line for one day. We were about to feature it in this newsletter today, but it sold before we could even publish. You can see why. An Impala SS convertible is prime old iron in this hobby. Now Ted knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." To review the private ads which were SOLD Thru Cars On Line this week click this link.

Let’s give a round of applause to Richard L. of Florida for submitting the correct answer to last week’s Hood Ornament Contest! Richard was the first to correctly identify the hood mascot you see pictured here as belonging to a 1932 Chrysler Imperial. Congrats, Richard – you’ll be receiving a $45 check from Cars On Line.com.
This particular example belonged to a 1932 Chrysler Imperial RS. We spotted it on the Cars On Line.com website late last year. According to the ad, it was 1 of 7 Imperial short wheelbase RS’ known to exist of the 253 originally built.
Please note: Contestants are ineligible to win the Cars On Line Hood Ornament Contest twice in a row. In order to win, readers must fill out and submit the Hood Ornament Contest entry form. The Cars On Line Hood Ornament Contest is a regular feature of this newsletter. Look for it again soon!
You’re in for a treat with this week’s featured video. Take a look at this truly iconic 1963 Chevy Impala SS Convertible 409 from Flemings Ultimate Garage in Rockville, Maryland. The dealership does an awesome job of presenting the Ember Red convertible, taking us around, underneath, and inside. According to the ad, the vehicle is very original and shows just 42,210 miles, which are believed to be original as well. Under the hood you’ll find the date correct QB-coded 409ci Hi Perf V8 rated at 425 horsepower (hear it in the video!). See the ad for a complete list of specs.
Video ads have become the most important development for internet sellers. Just upload your video to YouTube and we'll embed your video in your Cars On Line.com ad at no extra charge.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
One of the best muscle cars of the era was the Buick Gran Sport. And pricewise it just doesn't get the same respect as a Chevelle or a GTO. So, for the average muscle car buyer, these Gran Sports are all a bargain. But this 1972 Buick Gran Sport is also a Stage 1 with the hipo 455 with 10 to 1 compression. It is offered for sale by a private seller from Asheville, North Carolina. He says it comes with Buick creature comforts such as power steering and power brakes, plus has a rebuilt Turbo 400, new gear reduction starter and flywheel, drive shaft, Eaton posi-unit and 3.73 gears. It also has updated Dick Miller racing suspension. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because you can buy this car now for just $23,500.
Old school is still kool. And you can't get more old school than this 1932 Ford Mooneyes Roadster offered for sale by a private seller from Simpsonville, North Carolina. The seller says it is an original roadster actually owned and titled to Moon Speed Shop in California. The symbol for Moon Equipment Co was a pair of "eyes." Thus the name. (See the logo on the door.) The figerglass body was made in England. It has a 350 crate motor with 3 deuces, 350 automatic GM transmission and a Ford rear end. Moon used the car in its catalog and promotions. The Bill of Sale from 2003 notes Moon as the owner at that time. On Sunday this historic hot rod will be our DEAL of the DAY. Take home a piece of history when you buy it for $28,000.
Here is another highly desirable classic, and a rare one indeed. This is a 1940 Mercury Club Coupe offered for sale by a private seller from St Charles, Missouri. The seller says it was restored by his father. He added well concealed air conditioning and power windows. He then converted it to 12-volt for good measure. The rest of the car, he says, is orignal, and comes with original paperwork. So naturally it will be our DEAL of the DAY this week because the asking price is $22,000. By the way, he says it runs and looks great. Hurry!
Streetside Classics' Atlanta showroom is offering a slew of hot deals in this newsletter today. They have a 1972 Blown Chevy C10 Pickup that looks too nice for the price. This blown monster with the supercharged 454 big block with dual quads is said to perform as well as it looks. With the quick-shifting automatic transmission they call it a "bare knuckle street brawler." From the iconic Hugger orange over white color combination to the street ready performance this is one mean machine. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $19,995. Check out this walk-around video with close ups of the interior and engine compartment.
In the mid-60's, Ford began putting their vaunted 428 big block motor in their luxury sportscar, the Thunderbird. It is hard to find information on the production numbers for the T-Bird Hardtop Coupes equipped wih 428 Q Code motors, but we do know the surival rate is very low. So this 1966 Ford Thunderbird with the 428 motor may be very rare if it can be determined to be stock original. The private seller from Dubuque, Iowa says it is also an "air" car making it even more rare. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. The asking price is $19,995.
A 1951 Dodge B3B Pickup has been isted for sale out of Lawton, Oklahoma. They call this the "Pilot House" shortbed 1/2-ton pickup. The seller says it is pretty much original with a 12-volt conversion, the gas tank moved, and spin-on oil filter upgrade. He says it underwent a frame-off restoration in 2012, and that everything works on the truck except the horn. This is a Dodge model that you don't see often anymore. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy. But don't wait too long. The asking price is $14,500.
This one may be more of a project than the others here in the DEAL of the DAY this week. It is a 1965 Chevy II Nova from Phoenix, Arizona. It is a barn find which was put into storage for about 12 years. However it already was upgraded before that time. It comes with a 283 V8 SBC, TH350 with B&M shift kit and shifter, 2400 stall torque converter, TRW forged pistons, Holley 650, Edelbrock Performer RMP intake, Comp Cam, Hedman coated headers, K&N air filter, Crane Electronics, rebuilt front end w/poly graphite bushings, sub frame connectors, front disc brakes, power steering, gray tweed interior. You'll have to call to get more info. We figure there is so much car here that you can't go wrong for the price. Asking $9,900.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
