GM's Buick Motor Division in Flint, Michigan was celebrating its 50th Anniversary at a time when American car companies were flush with cash in the post-war early ’50s era. To boast about its success, Buick decided to produce the 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible designed by Harley Earl. He penned a progressive sports car that would capture the imaginations of "space age" Americans for whom it was designed.
A Matador Red 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible has just been posted for sale in our Classic Buick Section online. Eric's Muscle Cars in Clarksburg, Maryland offers the incredible classic Buick for sale. They describe this Buick Skylark as an "elegant driver." It underwent a frame-off restoration and has a correct Jenkins leather interior. Eric's Muscle Cars tells us it is a very reliable car to drive. The sale includes a binder with various receipts and history.
This Skylark is powered by the standard 322 Fireball V8 engine, with correct V210457 assembly stamp. The 322 cubic inch 188 horsepower Fireball V8 engine with an airpower carburetor was new for '53. It was Buick's largest-bore engine in the past 25 years. The powerful Fireball 8 is mated to a twin-turbine Dynaflow 2-speed automatic transmission with correct J assembly stamp.
The brake booster was rebuilt by White Post Restorations. The exterior of the car features correct side badges and correct Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels with Diamondback whitewall tires. All Hydromatic systems are working, as is the power antenna.
The original horn button shows the original owner’s name. It also features the correct DI-NOC on the dash, the correct original Cowl Tag and power steering. They say the car can be driven anywhere. All systems working. This car was purchased from a Buick Club member who has driven the car 4,500 miles in the last thirteen years since its frame-off restoration. Notice the fully detailed engine bay.
Buick wanted to make a statement about automotive styling and progressive post war production capability. Its ground breaking design and progressive technology gave the 1953 Buick Skylark Convertible a stature of celebrity in those early ’50s post-war days. It was the car of the future.

The world of monster trucks is well represented by a promotional company called Rednecks With Paychecks.com. Their site is mobile friendly and features exciting videos for an adventurous younger crowd. Their events are a cross between a giant mud bog and a country music festival. At a recent Rednecks With Paychecks event in Saint Jo, Texas, this late model aluminum front Ford F-350 Dually made its debut. They represent it as being the world's biggest monster truck. It is trending on Instagram this week. The 26,000-pound mudder features 50-ton crane axles weighing roughly 6,000-lbs each and features a beefed up 6.7L Power Stroke turbo diesel. Naturally, it has all-wheel steering. (Photo compliments of Rednecks With Paychecks.com)
In reading this ad for a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air 2-Door Hardtop we found a great story on how the car was reunited with its orignal owner after 50 years. The current owner from Hays, Kansas included a link to an article from The Hays Daily News. He is only the third owner, and he tried for years to find the orignal owner on this car. He knew the name of the man. Then one day his Google search brought back a new result, and he was able to reunite the car and the original owner after 50 years. Click here to read another story from the Hays Post online. There is a video interview with the original owner. This car is for sale now in our Classic Chevrolet Section. You know how Jay Leno always says there is a story behind every old car. Well, this is a great one.
A Cars On Line advertiser from Fraser, Michigan was happy with the results of his COL Slide Show ad this week. Joe used the 26 Photo SLIDE SHOW ad and SOLD his 1967 Ford Fairlane 500 in just days. "Awesome site. The SLIDE SHOW ad was great. I would highly recommend Cars On Line!" Ford Fairlanes are always popular. With many performance updates, this car will be a fun ride this spring. But it needed the right buyer who wants to drive his hobbty car. Now Joe knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." According to the dealership, this gorgeous coach-built Italian spyder is a numbers matching example and one of just 242 Vignale Spyders ever produced. It comes equipped with power windows, front disc brakes, and Weber carburetors. The engine underwent a rebuild in early 2000 where it was removed, disassembled, and thoroughly gone over. The time is fast approaching for next weekend's Auctions America Ft Lauderdale Auction, March 31-April 2, 2017. Celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2017, the Auctions America’s Fort Lauderdale sale is renowned as South Florida’s premier collector car auction. Bidders from the U.S. and 18 other countries flocked to last year's show to bid on affordable examples of fine American classic and muscle cars and European sports cars. Here is just a taste:
Auctions America was excited to announce the addition of a rare 1931 Stutz Series MA "SV-16" Cabriolet Coupe to their Ft Lauderdale sale next week. It will be Lot # 758 to be sold on Sunday, April 2, the last day of the sale. Stutz stuck to its guns in an era when many marques went to the V-16 cubic inch engines. They used this 8 cylinder overhead cam with 16 valves to produce speeds of up to 100 mph. Stutz ended its production of luxury cars for the rich and famous in 1935. It had a prominent racing history.
The 1949 Hudson Commodore Six Convertible Brougham was the top-of-the-line for Hudson that year. It was tauted as the most elegeant American convertible in its day. It was powered by an upgraded Twin H-Power Hornet 308 engine and now has a modern 700R4 Hydra-Matic transmission. It is reported to be one of approximately 1,868 units produced that year. Not only did it have maroon leather interior, but it also came with power windows, convertible top and modern power steering. The windshield visor was visibly unique.
Classic Porsches will be featured here in Ft Lauderdale. A good number of significant Porsche collectors are set to attend this high profile sale. They will be looking for rare items such as this 1978 Kremer 930 Turbo with the 3.5-liter twin plug flat six-cylinder engine featuring a dual distributor and EFI. It was taken to Kremer, a famous European Porsche racing company, for the DP Motorsports K2 body and engine modifications in 1980. This has been since restored to its orignal Kremer build. It features Turboknetics ball bearing turbo with TiAL wastegate.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
Wow! An actual Judge convertible. Don't blink or it will be gone. This week we could hardly wait till today to show you this great deal. We've never before had an Orbit Orange 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge Convertible highlighted in our DEAL of the DAY offerings. But this week we do. It is offered by a private seller from Lake Worth, Florida. He says the convertible top is new. It comes with a 455 big block power plant rated at 420 horsepower and a 4-speed Muncie M20 transmission. He says it is a true Ram Air car. Most important, the price point is amazing. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday with an asking price of $37,500. Usually you see GTO Judge hardtops in the $60,000 to $70,000 price range. And this one is a rare convertible. Hurry!
A private seller from Seaside, California has given us some beautiful pictures of his 1948 Chevy Woody Aerostream for sale. It has a straight six cylinder engine with 3-on-the-tree manual column shift transmission. From the photos it looks good on the exterior. You will have to ask about the interior. The owner does not indicate whether it has been restored, but some of the equpment looks too good to be untouched. We suspect it has been restored to an original state. You will need to verify this with the seller. You will probably need him to send you more photos or a video to help you understand the condition. It looks so nice in the photos that we have made it our DEAL of the DAY for Sunday this week. The asking price is $25,000. That's just "starter car" level pricing for a Wood bodied car.
Here is another highly desirable classic muscle car being offered by a private seller from Portland, Oregon. Man, the price is right on this 1967 Plymouth GTX. "I'm third owner," he tells us. "Car is in great shape. Very solid car, great daily driver or would make for an easy full resto for a show car." He says it has a new headliner, carpet and door panels from Legendary Auto and professionally installed. New 4-barrel carb, intake manifold and exhaust system from headers back. He says even the people who have worked on the car admire it. So naturally it will be our DEAL of the DAY this week because the asking price is $27,500. I know, isn't that amazing?
Classic Station Wagons are a hot trend in the collector car market. Everyone has great vacation experiences to relive in these American family movers. And this 1968 Buick Sport Wagon is one of the most stylish and desirable of all station wagons of the past. One of our newest classic car dealerships, DC Classic Cars East in Mooresville, North Carolina has listed this one for sale. They say it is an original survivor, never having been restored. They also point out that it comes with a desirable factory 400 ci V8 engine. This is a big block 400. Try to find another Buick Sport Wagon with this motor. Why were they so popular? The one-piece skylight over the second-row seat, plus lengthwise skylights over the cargo area were very unusual and popular back in the day. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY next week with a very affordable price point. Only $8,999.
One of the interesting classic car dealers from Illinois, Country Classic Cars, has posted a 1936 Chevrolet Tudor Sedan in this week's New Listings. Country Classic Cars tells us it has undergone an excellent restoration, frame off, top to bottom, great body and paint, nice redone leatherette interior, nice chrome, rare artillary style wheels, www tires, stove bolt 6-cylinder, with a 3-speed transmission. They say it runs and drives great. It would be a great project for the right buyer. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. The asking price is $17,250.
Volkswagen collectors know that the Super Beetle was Volkswagen's high performance sports car with the very fast 1600 cc engine. Streetside Classics in Nashville, Tennessee tells us this 1974 VW Super Beetle Convertible runs as good as it looks. They say it is turnkey and ready to enjoy now. But most important for our purposes here it is priced so right that we have selected it to be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. Be sure to have it inspected before you buy, but hurry. The asking price on this very desirable bright orange Super Beetle convertible model is $14,995.
GI's coming back after World War II brought back British MG's escalating the desire on the part of Americans to own these exciting sports cars. As a result, this 1955 MG TF Roadster being offered for sale by Gullwing Motor Cars was actually one of the first European imported sports cars made available here in the U.S. They say this 1955 MG TF is a nice solid driver. It comes with a white convertible top and white side curtains. They tell us the motor runs strong and the brakes are good. The TF is the last of the traditional MG T's with headlights molded into the fenders, sloping radiator grille, and pressurized cooling system with simulated external radiator cap. Gullwing is offering it for $19,500.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
