A good ole boy Texas auto dealer brought a gorgeous 1933 Ford Renaissance Roadster to the Detroit Autorama this past weekend and walked away with the most coveted award in the custom car hobby. Buddy Jordan from San Antonio, Texas said it was his first trip to Detroit for the Autorama. He was bubbling over with excitement when he was handed the Ridler Award trophy on Sunday evening. In an interview he told us he had never seen the finished car until he walked into the Cobo Center. The car was built by Steve's Auto Restorations in Portland, Oregon. Steve Frisbie designed the car which won the legendary Ridler trophy.

Did you ever want to locate the original sales brochure of the first muscle car you bought, or want to find an article you’ve previously read? If so, this is the place to go -- Automotive History Preservation Society (AHPS). This non-profit organization offers a growing digital library of classic car literature dating back to the 1930s. Recently the AHPS announced an arrangement with the Discovery Channel to provide full access and use of materials. These materials will be used by Discovery during Barrett- Jackson auctions and other automobile related events they broadcast. Some of the facts you hear moderaters use during their automotive broadcasts will be sourced from the AHPS database. As an example, this Ford V-8 brochure from 1932 is archived in .pdf format and can be read from their archives. It was featured recently in one of their Twitter posts. We are not sure why all of a sudden so many people are willing to part with their collector cars at such affordable prices. But we do know that this is a great opportunity for new collectors to find "starter cars" at good discounts to the market. Take advantage of it while you can.

The collector car market may be in for a seismic change in the next couple of decades. Ziv Avarim, in an interview with CNBC predicted, "In 20 years driving will be illegal."

Avarim is the CEO of a company called Mobileye which produces the technology for self driving cars to BMW and Volkswagen. "We're in the middle of the biggest revolution in the automotive industry in the last 100 years," he told CNBC. He said that to avoid traffic accidents in the future, governments would ban driving. He creates the scenario that only autonomous vehicles would be certified to drive on public roads.

In a separate CNBC interview yesterday, Avarim said BMW would be the first automotive manufacturer to sell a fully autonomous vehicle. They are scheduled to produce 1,000 vehicles for public sale in 2021. He says the Chinese would be the first to adopt fully autonomous cars.

Early Ferrari's are the most sought after collector cars in today's market. The seven figure numbers they command at the nation's largest collector car auction venues is eye popping. So today we have a real treat for our readers. Peter Kumar's Gullwing Motor Cars in Astoria, New York is offering a rare 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB Long Nose Alloy. This is a true seven figure car which is very desirable among Ferrari afficionados. It is one of only 80 aluminum-bodied, long nose 275 GTB's ever produced by Ferrari. The body displays coackwork done by Scaglietti. Gullwing tells us it has been certified by Ferrari and was restored by a team of the best Ferrari specialists. This is an investment class offering which may have room in the price to appreciate. Bring your best experts to inspect.

Gullwing is also offering this 1959 Ferrari 250GT PF Coupe with just 39k miles. Only 353 of these rare PF's were ever produced by Ferrari. "This particular matching numbers example might be one of the most original PF Coupes in existence," they tell us. Although they say it may need some cosmetic upgrades at this time, they note that is has been documented by Ferrari historian Marcel Massini. It has not been available for sale since 1965. This is a rare opportunity for the right buyer to get into a valuable investment at the right price.

According to Hendricks Motorsports, this 1976 Cadillac Eldorado "El Deora" is believed to be a one owner car with just 22,942 original miles. What's more, the ad reports 1976 would be the final year for the 500ci V8 motor in the Cadillac lineup, making this Eldorado one of the last of its breed. Learn more when you visit the ad!

"We offer here a fine example of a barn find of one of the most sought after vehicles from the era of the elegant classics," says Jensen Dealerships of this 1936 Cord Westchester. The ad reports the vehicle has not been restored and is not without faults. While it has survived remarkably well, the dealership says the vehicle will undoubtedly need a restoration if you want it to shine like new.

A stunning custom design really highlights the features on this 1968 Pontiac GTO Hardtop offered for sale by a private seller from Franklin, Wisconsin. It looks similar to a Royal Bobcat treatment. This is not an original GTO. In fact, the seller says it comes with a Hurst Indy shifter, 355 posi rear axle and a Muncie 4-speed transmission. The engine is a 400 ci rebuild procuding 335 horsepower, has an Edelbrock aluminum intake, 750 cfm carburetor and more. The flared rear fenders give it a distinctive look. The seller says it has a solid body, trunk and floors. Of course, it comes with dual exhaust and hideaway headlights. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the asking price is only $19,900. That's a lotta' car for the price.

Not everyone wants a chopped Merc lead sled. Some collectors really put a value on a Mercury Coupe that is still all origial. That's what we have here. It is a 1951 Mercury Coupe being offered for sale by Cruisin Classics out of Columbus, Ohio. It is in its original form with a ton of new stuff to keep it running for a long time. The flat head V8 is matched with a 3-on-a-tree manual transmission. The odometer reads 92,773. The owner says it has a rebuilt drivetrain and runs on a 6-volt battery. Here is a walk-around video produced by Cruisin Classics. They say it is a cool looking classic car which is all ready to go. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday with an asking price of $19,995.

One of the hard-to-find collector vehicles in today's market is a 1940 or 1941 Ford Pickup. The teardrop headlight design is one of Ford's great designs. Very popular then and now. So here is a 1940 Ford Pickup which obviously needs a little cosmetic TLC. It is being offered for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. The possibillities are very interesting. Hopefully the buyer will keep it original looking. It already has old school hot rod parts. The Flathead 8 has Edelbrock heads, 12 volt conversion, billet distributor, electric wipers and turn signals. But it also has Coker wide whitewall tires, chrome caps and trim rings. This is a real find for the right buyer. It will be our DEAL of the DAY priced at $16,995.

If you have been watching prices on these Buick Gran Sport convertibles lately you know the price ranges are all over the place. One comes up for sale at $75,000 and then you get an opportunity at a deal like this one. Here is a 1967 Buick GS400 Convertible from Streetside Classics in Tampa, Florida. Wow! Just look at this exciting video done by Streetside Classics to get you interested in this car. Not bad, eh? You probably still want to have it inspected before you buy, but that video presents well. Buick produced a luxury muscle car with creature comforts. It rides like a Buick with all that extra power. This one is worth checking out because the asking price is only $27,995.

A private seller is selling his 1946 Mercury Custom 2-Door at a very interesting price point. This is one you should really check out. The look and stance on this car make it a neat find. Although it is a custom, it was done old school style with a mild cam, Fenton headers. Three 97 Stromberg carbs sitting on a Offy manifold are period upgrades for the original 24 stud flathead with the A-B stamping on the heads. To top that off, it has a Volare independent front suspension, with new inner and outer tie rods, 12 volts with electric fuel pump, new stump jumper starter, alternator and battery. Be sure to check this one out. The asking price has been reduced to $24,500.

The Comet Caliente became Mercury's Falcon and made its own market albeit somewhat smaller than Ford's economy sized sports car. Take a close look at this 1966 Mercury Comet Caliente Convertible from a private seller in Tucson, Arizona. The seller does not give us a definitive indication of condition class. He just says it needs some work but runs great. It has a factory 390 4-barrel, fairly new paint, and is said to be an Arizona car with no rust. He says it has air conditioning and power steering. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $11,000.

Mopar lovers, here's a chance to get your piece of the rock! A 1965 Dodge Coronet 500 has been listed for sale by a private seller from Stafford Springs, Connecticut. It was orginally a 273 ci V8 with automatic on the floor. It now has a '66 383 big block and a 4-speed transmission. It has a 8 3/4 posi rear end. The seller says, "The body is very ice with its all original sheet metal, nice trunk floor and drops." Call the owner to find out more. He tells us, " I have owned the car for 4 years and have driven it only during summer month's. Its a great driver quality car and well worth the asking price $13,000 Firm."
