To have one LO23 Hemi Dart Super Stock for sale is very rare. To have two of them at the same time is out of this world phenomenal. That's the situation The Auto Collections in Las Vegas, Nevada finds itself in this week. They have two of the world's fastest muscle cars in their inventory, a 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart LO23 Super Stock called The Demented Dart, as well as the Mickey Weise Dart, well known on the West Coast.
Famous NHRA race car engine builder Harry Holton bought the 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart LO23 Super Stock brand new. He and Mickey Weise went racing with it in NHRA SS/AA that year. In 1969, Weise acquired the car from Holton and continued to race it until 1974. He sold the car to a guy who thought he was going to race it, but ended up storing it for about 10 years. Weise was reunited with the LO23 again in the mid-80's and continued racing it until 2000.
It was on display at the NHRA Museum in Pomona in 2001, and Mattel toy company made it a Hot Wheels replica as the "Mickey Weise Dart." I've seen a version of the Hot Wheels car in gold and white paint and one in red and white paint as seen here.
Meanwhile, one lonely 1968 Dodge Hemi Dart LO23 Super Stock was produced for export to Canada. It was sold as a new car at Cross Town Motors in Edmonton in ’68 to a racer named Cam Noseworthy. He proceeded to campaign it all over Canada and in the United States as well. It was known as The Demented Dart.
The car’s 426 Hemi powerplant with 12.5 to one compression and dual Holley 4-barrels on a cross ram intake were rebuilt by noted Hemi expert Dale Reed in 2011. This car has been authenticated by Galen Govier. Be sure to click through to the Cars On Line blogsite today to see a video of both these cars and hear them run.

If you were watching the 2017 Santa Monica Auction with us last Saturday you may have seen the 1960 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster reach a bid of $1,000,000. But the reserve was not dropped at that time. I remember the announcer saying the bid was close to the seller's reserve. Well as it turns out, RM Sotheby got together with the bidder and the seller and struck a deal. The official price was $1,100,000, RM Sotheby's told us in an email this week. The Mercedes SL roadster was rare in that it came from the factory with a Light Green Poly finish. Classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL's and Gullwings are the hot trend this year at collector car auctions. They are well appreciated in this market. To see more auction results you may click this link to our 2017 Santa Monica blog.
A 1950 Hudson Pacemaker was just listed for sale by Motorcar Studio in Atlanta, Georgia. As popular as these classic Hudsons are, it is amazing that you can purchase one today for this price. They are asking just $16,900. Be sure to watch this walk-around video to see all the detail and trim on this rare classic. It is one of the outstanding deals in today's Cars On Line newsletter. Prices on collector cars continue to decline which is why there are so many great prices in this edition of the Cars On Line newsletter. Not since the mid-1990's have we seen prices this affordable. Collectors can pick up some really desirable cars in this market. Take advantage of the opportunity. It may not happen again in your lifetime. And be sure to read the DEALs of the DAY below. It is the best selection we have had this year.
Tom from Joplin, Missouri contacted us this week to let us know he SOLD his car with a Cars On Line Run Till Sold ad. "A really great way to sell a car on the internet," he said. "The buyer is extremely happy with the 1969 Dodge Super Bee. It turned out to be a hassle free exchange." The seller said he had owned his Super Bee for 30 years. He said it still has just 36,400 original miles. Now Tom knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." This week a private seller from Simi Valley, California has advertised his rare 1972 Hurst/Olds Pace Car Convertible for sale for the first time. It is owned by a designer who worked for Hurst/Airheart in the 60's and 70's. It has been on the cover of "Auto Enthusiast" and the cover of "The History of the Hurst/Olds", and photographed with the famous "Hurst Hemi Under Glass." Documented back to the original purchase, it comes with Hurst artifacts and pictures. This was the year Linda Vaughn made an appearance with the pace car at the Indianapolis 500 hanging unto a giant Hurst Shifter. Under the care of one of the most respected Hurst restorers for several years, they say this is a solid car. It is the rarest Indy Pace Car made during the modern era and the only one that was not supplied by a major auto manufacturer.
What do you think this 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe is worth? It can be difficult to know for sure from a photo alone, which is why many of our clients turn to the Cars On Line Inspection Service. We'll put a knowledgeable inspector to work for you, on-site wherever the car is located. Take a look at this sample inspection report to see the kinds of comments our inspector left for the prospective buyer.
Get up close to this one-year only '67 body style 1967 Dodge Coronet Convertible in the video above. You can also click here. The presenter tells you this RT tribute is close to being show worthy and includes Mopar performance parts on a 440ci engine that runs fantastic. It's also been recently serviced, with new parts added. The fit is nice, and it's solid too. The camera work in this video is steady and the cameraman from Coyote Classic isn't affraid to show you some of the slight imperfections that make it a high quality driver instead of a trailer queen. It's still very presentable and a joy to behold. "You just don't see these cars very often."

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY front page feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
A very interesting reproduction was listed this week by Cool Cars of Pompano Beach, Florida. It is a 1985 Ferrari 328 Replica (Pontiac Fiero donor car) which is being offered at a sweet price point. Usually you have to pay up for these reproduction cars. However Cool Cars has this one listed for just $18,900. This is the 328 style Ferrari design which was made popular by the Magnum P.I. TV series with Tom Sellick back in the 1980s. It has a fuel injected 6 cylinder engine and 4-speed manual transmission. Being from Florida they say the air conditioining is ice cold. Most important, they say it has that Ferrari sound as it winds through the gears. Be sure to see for yourself. We'd love to do the job if anyone wants this one inspected. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday.
The name Packard implies quality. That's why collectors are always up for an opportunity to ad a classic Packard motorcar to their collection. Here is one that is so affordable, you might want to start your collection with this core holding. A 1940 Packard Business Coupe is offered for sale by a private owner from Enderby, British Columbia, Canada. The currency exchange probably has something to do with why this car is offered at such a discount. The seller says it is in excellent condition and remains rust free. He says it is a true survivor which retains a rock solid body and frame. He says the Flathead 6 engine just purrs. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The price is well below what we normally see at just $19,500.
Newsletter readers will remember what we always say about early first generation Ford Thunderbirds: "if you find one for under $30,000 ... but it." While prices on first generation Ford Thunderbirds are trending lower, we think this rule still holds true. Especially when you are looking at cars like this 1955 Ford Thunderbird offered this week by Cruisin Classics in Columbus, Ohio. This one has a soft top only (no auxiliary hardtop) and is outfitted with fender skirts, hubcaps the nice chrome bumpers out of which rear exhaust pipes flow. They say the dash is in excellent condition. Just look at the photos of the interior. You should take this video tour of the car and hear it run. It will be our DEAL of the DAY because the asking price is only $27,995.
This week we have a real treat for Chevrolet Corvair enthusiasts. This is the rare turbocharged edition 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Spyder (convertible), the same performance model Corvair that Don Yenko used as donor cars for his Yenko Corvairs. A private seller from Rodgersville, Tennessee has offered it for sale. It has the turbocharged Flat 6 motor rated at 150 horsepower, and a 4-speed transmission. The color is Ermine white with a red interior and white soft top. The car has a multi-gauge package with a tachometer, original AM radio and Spyder logos. Notice the stainless wire wheel covers and whitewall radial tires. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. The asking price is $16,900.
Here is a 1970 Chevrolet CST-10 Pickup, a very popular truck in its day and one that collectors love to own. It was posted for sale this week by a private seller from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He says he drove the truck daily for a year in 2015. He says he would drive it anywhere. This truck remains unrestored with a nice patina. The original 350 remains with a TH350 transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, air conditioning and factory gauges. He says the original drivers manual and Pro-Tecto-Plate go with the vehicle. Evidently the truck came originally from the Houston, Texas area. Remember, this is at best a daily drive quality truck. But it will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week if it lasts that long. The price is $15,000.
Classic MG roadsters have always had an appeal to American car buyers. GI's coming back from Europe after the war loved them and many brought them back to the U.S. Classic sports cars like this 1951 MG TD Roadster are still in demand. Motorcar Studio of Atlanta has it for sale. They say it was restored about ten years ago and has been maintained. It was in storage for two years, so they had to rebuild the carburetors and freshen the appearance. They say the chrome and paint are still nice. It comes with side curtains and a tonneau cover. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY this week. The asking price at $15,000 is the lowest we've seen in years.
We often differentiate when a street rod is fully restored or when it is what we call a "starter car." Starter cars, of course, command a price that is only a fraction of what a completed street rod would bring at market. Yet, here is a completely restored 1934 Ford Cabriolet street rod which is priced as a starter car. The reason is probably that it is in need of freshening. The paint looks questionable in the photos. This one has a Street Beasts fiberglass body, Vintage air and heat, Boss cd stereo, power steering, power disc brakes, power windows, new gauges, Mustang II front end, Mustang 8-in. posi rear end, Chevy V8 and a 5-speed manual transmission. You should have it inspected before you buy. You will want to know how much work it needs. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week since the price is only $21,500, far below what most '34 cabriolets are priced at.
Often there are more cars that deserve to be in the DEAL of the DAY than we can schedule for our front page feature. Here is a list of cars that just missed the cut for the DEAL of the DAY this week. Remember, you saw them here first:
