Of all the classic 1950's Mopars which have become so popular, none is more rare than this 1958 Dodge Coronet Super D-500 Convertible. There are only 11 examples known to remain. This is one of the nicest.
When Daniel Schmitt & Company entered their new listings this week we were stunned to find this 1958 Dodge Coronet Super D-500 Convertible among them. You can bet it will send a tremor through the Mopar collector community when this story gets out. You are getting the news first right here in the Cars On Line newsletter. As they say in their ad, "here is a collector's Dream Find."
The incredible Dodge classic '50s convertible is featured here in gorgeous Eggshell white over Crimson Red with a beautiful red and black interior and a white convertible top.
The Super D-500 Dodge was introduced in 1958. It came with a 361 cubic inch V8 fed by factory dual quad carburetors. It's factory produced " Wedge" single rocker head design was rated at 325 horsepower. The dual quads, 10:1 compression ratio, hot factory cams and large bore created all that horsepower. It has the 3-Speed push-button TorqueFlite automatic transmission and four power drum brakes. "Dodge introduced the Super D-500 in 1958 as one of the first factory hot rods," according to Daniel Schmitt & Company. The St Louis collector car gallery said that Dodge had to add bigger brakes and a heavy duty suspension to handle all that extra power. They say it has under 51,000 miles. In addition to the dual exhaust system with beautiful chrome exhaust tips, this car also has an AM radio with dual antennas.
A limited number of Dodge new car buyers checked off the Super D-500 option package in 1958 making it one of the most valuable Mopar collector cars today. Do not miss this opportunity to acquire one of the rarest and most historically significant Mopars in existence.

As we've said before, June will be the most active month of the year for car shows (see our Cars On Line Car Show Calendar for a list of top shows.) Next week our COL Car Show Team will be very busy. On Friday we will be covering the 2017 Raleigh Classic Car Auction in Raleigh, North Carolina, June 23-24, 2017. We like this auction because they always have great cars at very affordable prices. Our readers will benefit greatly from researching their offerings this year. Follow us on Facebook and Twitter next week to get notifications when top cars will be coming up for sale. Your comments on the sale will become part of the conversation.
Then on Saturday we will be covering a special RM-Sotheby's sale in California. This year they will be hosting the 2017 Santa Monica Auction, June 24, 2017 at the historic Barker Hangar. Over the past five years, the event has emerged as a highlight on SoCal’s buzzing collector car scene. With RM-Sotheby's adding their considerable branding onto the Santa Monica Auction this year, the event promises an even more thrilling lineup of over 170 collector cars. You will find popular collector cars such as this 1955 Chevrolet Nomad Wagon being offered at No Reserve. Don't miss our coverage. When Reggie notified us that he had SOLD his classic resto rod he made an interesting comment. "The original owner of the 1932 Ford Phaeton saw the ad and bought it back!" he told us. Built in 2009 by the Rod Shop in California, he said it had been a consistent show winner. Naturally, the orignal owner wanted it back when he spotted it for sale on Cars On Line. And why not? They say it wins every show it appears at. Now Reggie knows why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." Most collectors would be happy just to own a 1969 Mustang Boss 429 muscle car such as this one being offered for sale by Show Your Auto.com. But this particular Boss 9 is a special car. KK1649 was purchased new by Willard Kendig, inventor of the Kendig Variable Venturi Carburetor. Kendig was a self-taught automotive genius with a knack for inventing industry changing innovations. He loved this car so much he drove it often, and ended up testing some of his ideas with this car. He owned the car until his death in 2011.
The current owner purchased the car, not long after and completed a concours restoration in 2015. It shows only 117 miles since the redo. All original or NOS parts were used where ever practicable, according to Show Your Auto.com. They say it is one of the finest restorations you'll likely see.

There is no substitute for seeing the car in person when you buy, online or anywhere. But if you can't get to see the car yourself, the next best thing is to have a qualified body man look at it for you. The Cars On Line Inspection Service can put an automotive expert to work on your behalf. A report was done on a 1967 Corvette Coupe with a built 468 ci motor on behalf of one of our clients. It is typical of the information you will receive from a COL report. It includes three video documents and 50 of the over 250 high-resolution photographs included with the official report. See what the inspector had to say by following this link. For more information about the Cars On Line Inspection Referral service, or to order an inspection click here.

Remember the Robert Mitchum movie "Thunder Road"? Mitchum's character would have loved this 1949 Ford Coupe powered by a 1953 flathead V8 with machined 3.71 GMC blower. There's numerous photographs of the patina'd survivor to look at, and a total of five videos as well. In addition to the walk around video above, you can click here to see the flathead winding out on a straight country road. (You can imagine it pulling away from the bushwacking revenuers.) Click here, here, and here for a chance to hear the engine perform. You'll also want to read the story of the build. This one is unique.
Video ads have become the most important development for internet sellers. Just upload your video to YouTube and we'll embed your video in your Cars On Line.com ad at no extra charge.

An Arab emirate used this 1995 Mercedes-Benz S 600 for his own safety. And thanks to the ballistic armored body panels and bullet proof privacy windows, you too can feel secure in your safety when traveling in this Level 7 security vehicle. We're told this armored car commanded a $600,000 price tag when new. It still has less than 16,000 miles and is available for way less. You never know what you'll encounter on your way to work, do you? This one is featured in the Low Miles Section of the Cars On Line website.
The following are recently listed Low Miles cars:

The DuPont Black is accented nicely with a custom mix Champagne color and lime pinstripe done by hand. It's all coming together on this all steel 1935 Ford Tudor Sedan Slantback, featured here via a private seller in New Jersey. Other features include a 350/350 driveline, Heidt front end, custom grill, new chassis, and more. It was originally listed for $87,000, but is now just $65,000! That's not bad after the 6-digit restoration it was reported to have. When Dodge came out with the Charger in 1966 it was one of the game changers for Dodge going forward. Here is one of those game changers, a 1966 Dodge Charger which has been listed for sale by a collector in Stouffville, Alberta, Canada. One of the photos in the ad says a lot about the quality here. Look at the photos that show the undercarriage. It seems to look pretty clean underneath. Have it inspected to be sure. The seller says the rebuilt 383 big block Mopar engine has been rebuilt .40 over, and it has a 3-speed automatic transmission. He says it was a restoration project when he acquired it, but he does not indicate whether the project is complete. That's a question to sort out. With an asking price of $20,000, it will be our DEAL of the DAY this on Saturday.

They say this one is "super clean." It is a 1963 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Convertible just posted for sale by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas. The car looks to be a nice driver quality convertible from the photos. This is a play on having a convertible to drive for the summer. It is very affordable. With the 145 ci Flat Six engine and a 4-speed manual transmission it is the right car for summer fun. The ad copy says it comes with wire wheel covers, AM radio, auxiliary audio input. It further states that this one is a "Rust Free California Body" with a "super clean Interior and top. Moreover, they say it "Runs & Drives Great." It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday. The price is just $12,750.

Every collector is well aware of how important the word "rare" is to the value of a collectible vehicle. This is a good example. Here is a 1971 GMC Sprint just posted by a private seller from Springville, California. Most of our readers know that GMC made an "El Camino" which they called the Sprint. There are far fewer Sprints out there in the collector car market than El Caminos. Thus the rarity. He does not give you a lot of information in the ad, only the it has a built 383 stroker motor, an automatic transmission, air conditioning, stereo/speakers and rear air shocks. He says it is uper clean and runs great. It does look real nice in the photos. It will be our DEAL of the DAY because the asking price is only $17,900. We've met GMC Sprint collectors who think the values could be much higher.

Among classic pickup truck enthusiasts it has become a trend in the last few years to look for classic International Harvestor pickups. It is rare to find one in this type of condition however. A private seller from Wallingford, Connecticut is offering his 1966 International Pickup at a very affordable price. International Harvestor was always a smaller company that tried harder. You got more with one of their pickup trucks. This one is a Model 1200 1/2-Ton long bed with Creeper gear manual locking hubs. He says it is in great condition with about 102k miles. He also says it has a "Beautiful solid body and undercarriage. Interior redone dual exhaust." It has the 302 ci V8 engine with a 4-speed. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. The asking price is $11,000.

Mustang convertibles are so popular among car collectors that a whole segment of the baby boom generation is dedicated just to this one model of car. This 1968 Mustang Convertible is not a first generation Mustang, so it comes at a discount to those original 1965 and 1966 models. For someone who just wants the attention that comes from driving a classic Mustang convertible this one may be an affordable option. Also, the engine is a 200 ci 6 cylinder which the owner says has been rebuilt and painted in 2010. The C4 3-speed automatic tranny was rebuilt in 2009. He says the engine and tranny have less than 7K miles. So the price is interesting at just $15,000. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week if it lasts that long.

A private seller from Novato, California listed a 1981 Fiat 2000 Spider which looks so nice in the photos it is hard to believe it has over 120,000 miles on it. He says you must drive this one to believe how sweetly it handles. So much has been replaced or updated on it that it is one to look at. For instance, the seller cites a complete engine overhaul with just 12,000 miles and a new clutch, suspension, alternator, convertible top and a brake overhaul with about 5k miles. Other items he notes have been replaced include the catalytic converter, timing belt, most gaskets and a complete front end rebuild. And there is more. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this week with an asking price of $11,900.

There is more than a little patina on this old workhorse, but KC Classic Auto says it "runs awesome." Again, here is a rare 1953 GMC 100 Pickup. You just don't see a lot of these around. They say it has a very nice interior with added gauges, turn signal, fog lights, seat belts, and more. The wiring is new and it was converted to an alternator. KC Classic Auto tells us it has had "tons of work done with receipts to make this truck drive great." It has a 6 cylinder engine with a 3-on-a-tree manul transmission. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY this week. It is fairly and affordably price at $14,900.
