Talk about getting lucky. A Virginia collector found a 1962 Corvette with a 327/365 hp motor which he knew was NOM. It was a crate 327 short block with new angleplug heads, aluminum intake and Carter AFB carb. He said his Corvette was his daily driver from 1973 till 1976 when he was having thoughts about restoring it.
That's when he discovered a magazine article called "Fueler or Fooler" which referenced how to tell a real '62 Corvette fuelie from a faked one. It listed the factory items you would find on a fuelie car only. It talked about items such as the air cleaner mount in the left inner fender, a shield for windshield washer fluid on the right inner fender, tach drive hole in correct location on the firewall, low mount horn relay, original strap for fresh air duct to air cleaner, rubber seals from radiator to support, etc. This car had them all. And you could tell they were original items to this car. "That was the first time I knew it was an original factory fuel injected car," he told us. The Corvette facts book tells us there were only 1,918 fuelie Corvettes produced in 1962. So you can see why he was so excited.
He found a rebuilt and restored 7017360 fuel injection unit, number 2962, distributor 1111011, date 2-a-19, by John Grata. Then he bought a correct 2870 block, b-2-2 date. Heads are 461, k-3-1. The engine was rebuilt and balanced, decked, restamped, .030 over, 11:0 forged pistons, 3-angle valve job, Lunati solid lifter cam, .484 lift, [email protected] .050, close to 375hp spects. He says it made 365hp @5800rpm, 373 ft lb of torque @ 3800 rpm. He has the dyno sheet. He also found a Borg Warner 4-speed, Hurst shifter, stock looking stick. The Posi rear end is 3743833, d-1-7, an423. You'll find out more when you read the ad. The photos really tell the story.

Two of the top car shows in the country are happening this weekend in the heartland of the country. They are only a few hours apart by car so most of our Midwest readers could take in a "two-for" this weekend in the state of Wisconsin. The 2017 Iola Car Show and Swap Meet is one of the top ten car shows in the country. You will find acres and acres of parts in the giant swap meet fields. And good stuff. Some of these Midwestern swap meets have parts you will never find on the East Coast. Many of these swappers have pole barns full of hidden treasure. Also this weekend, the Buick Club of America 2017 National Meet will be held in Brookfield, Wisconsin (a suburb of Milwaukee), July 5-8. The meet will be open to the public on the grounds of the Milwaukee Sheraton of Brookfield. The national meet of the BCA includes events and tours all week long. National judging will be held on Saturday on the grounds of the Sheraton Hotel.

Imagine our surprise when a 1969 Chevelle SS L78 396/375 hp big block car was listed for just $25,900! We thought it was a typo at first. Could this be real? It turns out that the Foxboro, Massachusetts collector needs the cash to put into another investment car. He just wants a quick turnaround on this one. He says it is a two-owner car, numbers matching with a 4-speed. Do you have the phone in your hand yet? You should note that the quarter panels have some bondo in them and the paint is "weak." American Motors muscle car collectors know how popular these AMX cars are. A big block 390 ci V8 in a body that small? It's a 1968 AMC AMX pocket rocket. The seller, from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin says it was nicely restored 10 years ago, and has been his summer daily driver. He says it is stored in a heated showroom each winter. Not everything is orignal. It has '70 AMX seats, bigger tach, Offenhauser intake, Holley 750 carb and aftermarket cam. The seller thinks all the work was done in the early '70s. But the best part of this sale is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. The asking price is $18,000.

Prices on early MG roadsters can be all over the spectrum. But really nice MG's that run well can be a rare treat. This 1953 MG TD Roadster is said to have been recently restored. The private seller is from Carlsbad, California (San Diego area.) The ad says it has a new top, side curtains, wheels and knockoffs, tires, brakes and wheel cylinders, electronic ignition and new ignition switch and gauges. The seller says it now has new paint. The seller says he has all the parts to make it original. So it will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week. The price is $19,000.

While big block 1968 through 1971 Dodge Chargers are pretty untouchable for the average enthusiast, a 1973 Dodge Charger 440 like this one from Weslaco, Texas, is a bargain. The styling is more appealing than the earlier cars and the performance is still there. The seller says it has the correct 440 V8 high performance motor, code E86, which pumps out over 375 hp. Equipped with factory air conditioning, power brakes, power steering and several other options, the paint is absolutely beautiful. He says the car runs and drives extremely well. He notes that the interior is super clean. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week. At $18,500, this big block muscle car should catch your attention.

Our only problem with this 1963 Chevy Nova Custom Convertible is that it is priced so affordably that it will probably sell before we can make it our DEAL of the DAY next Friday. The Texas seller says it was custom built in North Carolina and powered by an all aluminum LS6 Chevy motor with a carburetor instead of EFI. The seller tells us it comes with one-off Boyd Coddington wheels, a Ford 9-inch rear with 370 gears and 35-spline axles, front disc brakes, new seats and console. It feaures a TCI front clip, Mustang rack, backhalfed with a ladder bar mounted. Like the seller says, you are gonna' have to see this one yourself to appreciate it. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week since the price is only $26,000. I think you will agree, that is a lotta' car for the money.
