People always ask us, "What makes one hot rod worth $60,000 when a similar looking rod might be valued at half that price?" Our answer, "It's all in the build." Today there is a 1932 Ford Highboy Roadster in our New Listings which was built by Gregg Enders for his daughter, NHRA two-time Pro Stock Champion Erica Enders. The provenance alone might make this one a deal at the current asking price. But the way it was built and the way it is equipped identify it as a top quality show car.
Kenny's Rod & Kustom built the '32 from a Dearborn Deuce all-steel body hot rod. In 2013 the rod was redone by Enders Hot Rod Garage in Montgomery, Texas with special care from father Gregg. It was later purchased from Gregg Enders and Erica Enders. The owner says it is "99 percent perfect" with less than 4k miles. The aesthetics on this car are priceless for any hot rodder. It comes with a 1940 Ford dash, Duvall windshield, stainless grille, shaved door handles, chromed Granny shifter, all-chromes suspension and Quick release, engraved steering wheel. The engine is a 468 BB Chevy with polished Edelbrock Perfomer RPM heads, dual polished Edelbrock carbs on a Endura-Shine coated Edelbrock intake and mild hydraulic cam. In our opinion, the real money is in the undercarriage. It features a Fatman chassis, Pete & Jake's all-chrome front suspension and shocks with tubular axle and polished billet Wilwood disc brakes, fully polished rear end housing, stainless 
Ford 9" with an aluminum 3rd member and 3.56 gears; polished stainless 2-link bars with a stainless panhard bar, aluminum coil-over shocks and Aerospace billet discs on the rear. The transmission is a Turbo 350.
The 15" Halibrand wheels come fully polished with knockoff lug covers. The entire chassis and floorpan have been painted the same Chrysler metallic blue as the body. That is an indication that this build was meant to show.
Erica Enders ranks as the most successful female driver currently in Pro Stock competition, and one of only three women to win a pro title in NHRA competition. She has won two Pro Stock titles.

It's that time of the year again, and Cars On Line is in Scottsdale, Arizona this week to cover the 2017 Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction. This week's results at the Barrett-Jackson Auction could be critical to how car collectors value their investments. Prices have been flat for several years now. But there is a hope that after this week we will see collector car values increase based on the results we see here.
One thing we've noticed already is the appreciation for classic pickup trucks here on Thursday. The 1950 Chevy 3100 Custom Pickup you see pictured here sold for $205,700 on Thursday evening. Another, a 1969 Dodge D-200 Custom "Crew Cab" Pickup (Lot # 807) went for $128,700. These were very unique, one-of-a-kind vehicles, but nevertheless we have never seen prices like this on classic pickups.

One of the top cars to cross the auction block will a the 1970 Plymouth Hemi Cuda Convertible on Saturday. It is one of only 14 such Hemi Cuda Convertibles ever built. It also has the distinction of having been owned and driven by NHRA Hall of Famers. It set NHRA and IHRA records when it was raced back in the day.

Our photo-journalists, Bob and Donna Boberg of eClassicAutos.com were present at the Mecum Auction in Kissimmee last week. Again we were there to take the temperature of the collector car auction with over 3,000 cars crossing the auction block. You can see their report on eClassicAutos.com. Pictured here is a 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda with an average value of $88,583 last year, but last weekend it sold for $195,000 at Mecum. This sale may have been the exception however with most "blue collar" American made cars going for prices similar to last year. Look at the chart in the report to see some of the cars we were watching and note their hammer prices.

Dodge Chargers took the lead on our “Top Ten Most Popular� list for muscle cars, claiming 18.8 percent of internet searches in the last 30 days (See our Mopar Section). Each month the Cars On Line staff analyzes statistics from online search engines in order to understand consumer trends. Camaros dropped into second place with 15.9 percent of internet searches. Meanwhile Corvettes were not far behind in third with 14.2 percent of searches. View the Top Ten Muscle Cars below.

Once again Chevrolet has taken the lead on our “Top Ten Most Popular� list for classic cars, grabbing 21.29 percent of internet searches within the last 30 days (See our Chevrolet Section). The Impala continued to be the model driving the most interest as it made up 16.4 percent of searches. Remaining steady in second place was former long-time leader Ford with 12.98 percent of searches. You’ll notice many newcomers on the Top Ten list this month, including Graham and Essex.

Don’t miss your chance to add this 1987 Buick Grand National from Gardnerville, Nevada to your collection. According to the seller, this just might be one of the nicest GNs in the country. We’re told it has always been stored in a climate controlled environment, has never been driven in the rain, and no one has ever sat in the rear seat. What’s more the seller says it was special ordered with all options (minus the Astro Roof) and shows just over 3k miles on the odometer. This week you’ll find its price has been lowered. The seller was originally asking $65,000 for this 1987 Buick Grand National, but today the price has been reduced to $47,500. What a find! Unique Specialty & Classics in Mankato, Minnesota just listed a 1942 Buick Special with the Sedanette style body. They say it is very clean with factory dual carburetors and upgrades such as an aluminum radiator and air conditioning. Yet it look very original. It looks like it might have a Straight 8 with a batwing. That engine compartment is spotless. Take a peak at the photos in the ad.

You'll find this one in Auburn, California where it has had the same owner since 1989. Before you get too excited about the price we should warn you that this 1966 Mustang Convertible has an original 6 cylinder engine. I know, the color combination is excellent. If it had a V8 under the hood it would easily be worth $30,000. The seller says the bronze with parchment interior and tan top gets a lot of looks. The car is located in Kerrville, Texas. We don't know a lot about the condition, but from the price we think this might be the "sleeper" deal this week. The 1971 Ford Ranchero is being offered by Classic & Collectible Cars of Las Vegas, a classic car dealer from just off the strip in Vegas. It has a 302 V8 engine, automatic transmission, power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, custom bucket seats, Cobra air cleaner, dual exhaust and fog lights. They tell us it is an older restoration which comes with a straight and rust free body. Check the photos to see the clean interior. They say it runs and drives great. That's why it will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price in the ad is $9,750. Isn't that amazing? A collector car you can afford.

A sweet 1961 AMC Rambler American Convertible comes from Connors Motorcar Company in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Just look at the photos in this ad. I believe it is fair to say that it is as clean underneath as it is on top. Isn't this car in great shape? They say it has nice red paint with excellent black top and interior. When a 1965 Ford Galaxie Convertible was listed from Jericho, Vermont this week we were amazed at the price when you consider what the owner wrote about it. He used words such as "pristine condition" "only 26k miles" and "won many trophies at car shows." Most of these '60s Fords are not in this kind of condition. This one says it comes with the 352 Police Interceptor enine with a 3-speed manual transmission. Notice the factory wire hubcaps. When this car first came out the paint job struck me as simply stunning. And it still is today. The 1982 Corvette Collector Edition was the first in a series of Collector Edition from Corvette. The private seller from Shalimar, Florida did not include a photo of th engine compartment. But it too was a unique offering only available that year. They called it the Crossfire Fuel Injected engine, a factory 350 with special porting. All in all, this is a rare and collectible Corvette. Do you think it will appreciate in value?
