It is not often that one gets to own a top ranked national show car while it is still a hot commodity. But here is a 1932 Ford Deuce Coupe known on the West Coast as "Whiplash." The flamed show car was designed, fabricated and built at Steve's Auto Restoration in Portland, Oregon. This week it has been listed on Cars On Line by American Classics & Hot Rods out of Newberg, Oregon.
"Whiplash" has been shown on the West Coast for several years, and was entered into the Portland Roadster Show Hall-of-Fame. It has also achieved a major Best of Show award, Best Craftsmanship & Engineering, and detail award at Detroit Autorama. Steve's Auto Restoration put over 4,000 hours of work into this build. (You may remember that Steve's Auto Restoration took the Ridler Award this year for their 1933 Renaissance Roadster. Click here to view our coverage of the Detroit Autorama 2017.)
Steve's Auto Restoration is known for its work with all-steel Ford hot rods. According to the builder, all the plumbing was hidden inside the frame rails. The custom chassis was done by Jim Meyer Racing Products. Feeding the FE 427 Ford side-oiler motor is a BDS injection system with Edelbrock heads; and, finishing out the driveline, a Richmond 5-speed transfers power to the 9-inch Ford rear end with 3.50 gears and 35-spline axles. Look at all the polished and chromed components. The Candy Apple paint and intricate ghost flames were done by Gary Crisp.
If you have always wanted to own a top end show car, here is your chance. Braggin' rights are included. This Pro Street build will forever be remembered in the Portand Roadster Show Hall-of-Fame. Own a legend.

We hope you enjoyed our coverage of Hot August Nights 2017 in Reno this past weekend. Man, we had a blast. The city of Reno figures there were several hundred thousand people there to see the nightly cruises, Show N' Shines, drag races and big parade on Sunday. Click here to see hundreds of photos and several vidoes from our ClassiCarNews page. Our video of the Downtown Cruises received over 50,000 views on our Facebook page this week. It was great to step back in time and review what it was like in the '50s and '60s. Over 10,000 cars registered for the show. We'll see you there next year.
Our friends at eClassicAutos.com tell us that this past weekends' Tri-Five Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky got a big turnout. Bob Boberg, of eClassicAutos.com, reported that the event drew over 2,700 1955 through 1957 Chevrolets for one big Bowtie party. Click here to see photos and videos from the Nationals. Bob caught some unique video of classic Chevy wheelstanders.

Because of branding rights problems with Canadian law, GM of Canada could not use the "Nova" name there. So they created a one-off model of Pontiac which is known in Canada as the Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe. They made them from 1962 through 1971. However they were produced in very low volume. This 1967 Acadian Canso Sport Deluxe is actually one of only 370 produced. The Canso Sport Deluxe is the equivalent of a Nova SS. Check out the photos. It may be one of the best you've seen. Gateway Classic Cars of Louisville, Kentucky did this video walk-around to give you a chance to see it in some detail. Although it has had some upgrades, such as the Candy Apple red paint, it is a stunning example of a very rare sports car.
"Thank Cars On Line!" Said Ron from Corvette Perfection in Hartland, Wisconsin. He was notifying us that his 1966 Corvette Convertible had SOLD using a Cars On Line Slide Show ad in our Corvette Section. Ron has been advertising with Cars On Line ever since we started our website 21 years ago. He says he doesn't need to have his own website since he sells everything through Cars On Line.com. "You are my website," he tells us. "Saves me a lot of time." Ron knows exactly why we always say, "You can advertise anywhere ... but you can sell through Cars On Line." The Fall Auburn Collector Car Auction 2017 in Auburn, Indiana is coming up at the end of August. It is held every year at the Auctions America Auction Park during the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Festival. If you haven't seen this show, it is the giant homecoming for the cars which were built at the Auburn Plant in Indiana. Auctions America will be holding their big annual collector car auction during the show. Here is a sneak peak at some of the high profile offerings. There will be over 1,000 collector vehicles for sale that weekend, August 31-September 3, 2017.
The car which graces the promo materials for the show is this 1929 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Coupe by Fleetwood. It was formerly the centerpiece of the Dr. Barbara Atwood collection, and remains the only Model J originally fitted with Fleetwood coachwork. It is remarkable for its Pebble Beach award-winning Steve Babinsky restoration. This very unique body was upgraded several times by Fleetwood for the original owner. It carries with it a known history.
One of the top offerings this year is a 2003 Delahaye Custom Boattail Speedster, built and painted by Brown's Metal Mods. They succeeded in capturing the best elements of the Art Deco period design coming out of France in the 1930's. The artisans who built this car used a rendering penned by Chip Foose for inspiration. The car rides on a 127-inch wheelbase, and is powered by a Ford 302 V8. It will be offered on Saturday, Sept 2, 2017.
What would any top collector car auction be without the requisite Mopar Hemi car? Auctions America will be offering this 1970 Dodge Hemi Challenger R/T in the Saturday sale. Looking fantastic throughout, this rare and desirable Challenger Hemi R/T has a known ownership history that began at Greenville Dodge, Inc. in Greenville, South Carolina and is well-documented. You will note it has the N96 Shaker hood.
A 1966 Batmobile reproduced by noted movie car builder Jay Orhrberg of Hollywood Cars, has been consigned to the Fall Auburn Auction. It is an all-steel car with a 1959 Lincoln chassis and V8 motor. It was built as a promo car promoting special causes. It was later purchased by a German collector and spent some of its life outside the U.S. in collections and museums. They say it is as highly detailed as the original TV car built by George Barris.
Also see these rare collector cars coming up at the Fall Auburn Auction:
1937 Packard Twelve Roadster,
1974 AMC Hornet 007 Movie Stunt Car,
1931 Lincoln All-Weather Cabriolet,
1963 Corvette Orange Ray Custom,
1937 Cord 812 Phaeton,
1959 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Convertible,
The Fall Auburn Auction 2017 by Auctions America has a great No Reserve lineup. These cars are scheduled to sell to the highest bidder. Some of the best cars at the auction have No Reserve signs on them. Here is an iconic Seminole red 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible with the big fins. It has all the power options you'd expect plus air conditioning. It is titled as a rebuilt vehicle. Auctions America has said they expect it to sell for over $60,000.
Here are more of the NO RESERVE cars at the Fall Auburn Auction:
1969 Camaro Z/28,
1956 Chysler Imperial Southampton,
1933 Flamed Ford Coupe,
1958 Edsel Pacer Convertible,
1934 Ford V8 Cabriolet,
1958 Ford Ranchero,
1930 Ford Model A Roadster,
If you attend the Fall Auburn Auction you will be delighted at the range of activities available to you there. A car corral and swap meet area are included on the auction grounds. You can also enjoy helicoptor rides over the show grounds, monster truck rides and watch the stunt driver exhibitions. This show is fun for the whole family.
How about a screamin' burnout to start your weekend?! This 1969 Camaro SS could burn the tires right off that car with its Supercharged/Fuel injected 376 ci fully custom motor producing 800 horsepower. The private seller says he has owned it for 25 years. This is how he feels about this ride: "This Camaro is an absolute BEAST! Looks mean, sounds mean, is capable of massive burnouts.or, you can take it on cruises, and run to car shows. This car has won its class and nearly every show it has been entered in with one second place finish. It won the coveted Class act award at the Good Guys Southwest Nationals." Click here to see the ad online and view a second video walk-around provided by the seller. What a beautiful custom Camaro. The paint is called Tahaitian Sunset.

The DEAL of the DAY preview gives you first shot at all the cars that will be highlighted in the DEAL of the DAY front page feature on the Cars On Line home page. Often these cars sell in the newsletter before they even make it to the home page! You'll always see them here first though.
If you have been looking for an El Camino you can be proud to drive and is turnkey ready for local shows, check out this 1964 Chevy El Camino from Cruisin Classics in Columbus, Ohio. They say many thousands of dollars were spent on this rust free El Camino during the frame up restoration. They also tell us it runs, drives and shows excellent. It now has factory air conditioing upgraded to 134a coolant; all new custom leather bucket seats; Ridler wheels, dual exhaust and power disc brakes. Be sure to view the walk-around video on this one. It will be our featured DEAL of the DAY on Saturday because the price is only $24,995. At this price you are getting the restoration for free.
A private seller from Marthasville, Missouri has listed his treasured 1956 Mercury Montclair 2-Dr Hardtop for sale this week. He says there are only seven miles on the car since the restoration. You might want to contact the seller about the restoration. He does not describe what was done to the car. It does have a 312 V8. He says the upgrades include power brakes, alternator, electric wipers, Edelbrock carburetor and aluminum radiator. Have this car inspected to get better photos of the turquoise and white paint. The seller says it is a beautiful car. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Sunday because the price is very affordable at $17,500.
Another private seller from Brookville, Florida is offering his 1968 Buick GS400 Convertible for sale. He says it comes with a newly rebuilt engine, 3-speed automatic transmission, new top and new rear glass, plus new red line radials with less than 500 miles. It has a solid body with a nice repaint. not perfect, but nice. Options include power steering, power brakes, tilt wheel and original AM/FM radio. He says it also comes with a new boot. This is a desirable muscle car with a very affordable price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Tuesday if it lasts that long. The asking price is only $22,000.
A driver quality 1941 Ford Opera Coupe has been listed by its private owner from Shirley, New York. This is a old school cruiser with a 1950 Mercury engine with Offy heads, Mallory dual points, mild cam, Red's Headers, Smitty glasspacks, upgraded lifters, aluminum radiator and 12-volt electricals. If you get a chance to inspect this one you'll notice 1949 Plymouth bumpers, 1957 Caddy hubcaps and radial white wall tires. The seller says it runs well, with solid floors and frame, new seat dovers, door panels and headliner. It still is very original with an old school custom flavor. But the best part is the price. It will be our DEAL of the DAY this coming week with an asking price of $18,000.
Interestingly there is some disagreement in the collector car market as to what is a rat rod. For our purposes, this 1927 Ford T is a Rat Rod. True, it does not have a big block motor, but it does has a hot rod 327 with a 400 automatic transmission and Chevy HEI. Most important though, it has the steel 1927 body which has been chopped, stretched with coilovers, 4-wheel disc brakes, 12-bolt rearend and Mickey Thompson tires out back. The private seller from Roseville, California says it runs very well. In fact, he says you can drive it home with a clear title and registration. Inspect it to find out how unique this Rat Rod is. But hurry! It is going to be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $17,500.
A classic car dealer in Minnesota who knows his Ford muscle cars has listed this 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 Convertible. You can call him and pick his brain about this one. By the photos we can see it is a No. 3 condition car at best (note the undercarriage shots.) Braatens Classic Cars tells us "Car has fresh 352 4V, 3-speed manual transmission, dual exhaust, new brakes, new brake lines, new battery and new radiator. Gas tank has been pulled, cleaned, repainted. Power top works great; tucks down and goes back up very fast." You certainly should have it inspected before you buy it sight unseen, but act fast. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. The asking price is $14,999.
A 1939 Chevrolet Master Deluxe in very original condition has been offered for sale by a private seller in Braymer, Missouri. It still has the original 216 ci motor with oil filter system and a 3-speed vacuum shift transmission. It now has a rare Banjo steering wheel, a 12-volt conversion, a new exhaust from the manifold back, and new brakes. It also has new interior paint. You should have this one inspected before you buy just to find out how it drives and rides. However, if you are looking for a starter car for your collection, here is one that is very affordable. It will be our DEAL of the DAY later next week with an asking price of $11,000.
