In August we watched as a 1962 Shelby 289 Cobra sold for an all-time record price at the RM-Sotheby Auction during Monterey Car Week. As our newsletter readers remember, the CSX2000 Cobra owned by Carroll Shelby and shown at his Shelby American museum in Las Vegas sold for $13.75 million. That was a shot heard all 
around the collector world. We have been seeing prices on these early 289 Cobras increasing for a few years now.
This week, Legendary Motorcar Company has posted a black 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra for sale on Cars On Line. It is one of the late production Cobras which came with leaf springs, Weber carbs, and they say is fully documented. They inform us that this handsome, highly drivable, and historic 289 Cobra carries a clean history, and stands ready to be enjoyed. It cannot be overlooked that this Cobra is likely to increase in value directly because of its link to is inspirational builder, Carroll Shelby.
You can read an interesting history of the car in the ad on the Lengedary Motorcar Company website. (Click here to review its history.) The third owner of the black Cobra was Jim Inglese of Inglese Induction Systems, 
the world's leading innovator in fuel injection and Weber carburetors. After winning a 1st place award at the SAAC Northeast Fall Rally, Mr. Inglese sold it in partial trade for 427 Cobra. More recently, it has been ground-up restored to its factory-style street configuration with a factory exhaust system, factory chrome wires and a stunning black exterior. It is documented in the Shelby American World Registry.
Legendary Motorcar Company tells us it drives wonderfully with its period Weber induction system, heightening the performance delivered by its 289 Cobra engine, itself mated to the Cobra’s aluminum T-10 manual transmission.

Liberty Media, an American mass media company chaired by John C. Malone, is acquiring Formula One, the European Grand Prix racing circuit, in a complex deal that represents an equity value of $4.4 billion. The deal has Liberty Media purchasing an 18.7 percent minority stake immediately and finalizing the arrangements with Formula One’s parent company, Delta Topco, in the first quarter of 2017. Liberty Media’s CEO stated that the media giant’s goals include growing Formula One’s fan base by expanding underdeveloped digital offerings, potentially with virtual reality and video games. Liberty Media's current assets include the Atlanta Braves baseball team, multiple US cable TV firms, and Sirius XM satellite radio.

Newsletter readers who followed our live coverage of the Auctions America Fall Auburn Auction on Labor Day weekend may have seen this 1931 Duesenberg J Murphy Convertible Sedan when it crossed the auction block on Saturday. It was the top sale of the auction as it sold for $880,000 (price includes buyer's sales commission.) The 1933 Duesenberg J Berline by Franay which we featured in the newsletter last week, sold for $775,000. Hudson pickup trucks are rare in any case, but here is a 1946 Hudson Model 58, the "Big Boy" with an 8-ft bed and 3/4-ton chassis. It is being offered for sale this week by KC Classic Autos in Lenexa, Kansas. They say it is a true southwestern truck which was sold new in Texas and went to Arizona in 1967. The big box had a 48 cubic foot cargo capacity. It had a three-on-a-tree when most trucks still had Granny floor shifters. It comes with the Weather Master Heater, AM radio with foot controller, oil bath air cleaner, sun visor, and the Hudson tissue dispenser. They say it has been restored from top to bottom. This one is worth having inspected.

This week they've done it again, listing a 1970 Boss 429 Mustang which is new to their inventory. Since it was an original California car, it comes with the very unique factory California Evaporative Emission Control System intact. Some refer to the GNX as the "Commemorative Edition" or the "Grand National to end all Grand Nationals." Buick made 547 units and sent all of them to ASC/McLaren with a long list of modifications to be added. See the details in the ad that Legendary Motorcar Co. posted. This 1987 Buick GNX has just 3,150 miles on it and is numbered 161 of 547. It is highly documented according to the ad, and remains in remarkable condition. Click here to see more!

This 1955 Chevy Bel Air Nomad recently emerged from 30 years of dry indoor storage and is looking for a craftsman to put some life back into it. It's missing the motor and transmission, but the dash is complete and intact according to the seller in Mound, Minnesota. Features include rear fold down seats, intact/original VIN and trim tags, a Positrac rear end, and Candy Apple Red paint.

Back in 1971, a T-bar (or T-tops as we now call them) was a popular feature on a Corvette. Here is a 1971 Corvette with Ontario Orange paint and T-tops offered for sale by a private seller from Silver Star, Montana. The seller describes it as being a "beautiful 62K mile coupe with documentation from new." He says it has an all original drivetrain, perfect interior and new tires. Economy rear axle ratio delivers good mileage and quiet cruising. He says everything works as new. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Saturday. The asking price is $26,500. It would be hard to find another classic Corvette this nice for the price.

A private seller from Two Rivers, Wisconsin has posted his 1964 Studebaker Champ Pickup truck for sale. It really looks sharp in the photos. Remember, this is when Studebaker was known for sturdy, reliable trucks. This one looks the part. It is equipped with the 289 V8 with new brakes, new carburetor, new plugs, new wheel cylinders and a new fuel pump. This onre has an 8-foot beed. The seller says it is an original California truck. It is a rare one for sure. Have it inspected to find out whether it is a driver quality truck or if it looks like one that could be prepped to show. Gem City Classic Autos in Dayton, Ohio listed a rare 1947 Crosley Crosmobile Sedan this week. They say the classic American microcar is an "extremely nice, excellent running 1947 Crosley." Finished in green with green and white interior, it runs a 4-cylinder engine with a 3-speed manual transmission. For those who are avid microcar collectors, this one is worth inspecting. It will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because they are asking $12,000, well within the current pricing on such vehicles.

Here is another great find offered by a private seller from Helendale, California. He predicts this 1951 Ford Custom will be the favorite at your local car shows. This piece of "eye candy" has a Chevy 350 small block V8 with a 350 transmission, front disc brakes, power steering, chopped top and frenched headlights and taillights. The Flowmaster exhaust provides the "sound effects" while the front valance has the right "ground effects." It also has air shocks and door poppers. The seller says the interior could use some TLC to make it show ready. He indicates that the lead sled has passed an NSRA 23-Point inspection in 2016. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week. When Cars On Line began running car ads back in the 1990's it was already then being talked about that Oldsmobile Cutlass convertibles were getting hard to find. It seems that Northern rust belt collectors were buying up the supply from the Southern states. Today it is rare to find a 1967 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible for sale at an affordable price. This one comes from Cummins, Georgia. The private seller says still has the 330 ci V8 engine with 3-speed automatic transmission. He says it also has factory air conditioning which works great. We are seeing some of the best prices on street rods that we have seen in ten years. Today we have a 1939 Ford Sedan Deluxe listed by a private seller from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin that is the best deal on a street rod this week. Naturally it is an all steel rod. The seller tells us it has been built in an old school style. He says it drives straight and runs well. Some parts come with the car. Here is an incredible find for the right buyer. Lonestar Classic Motors in Richmond, Texas says this 1955 Chevy Pickup has many upgrades. They just put a new carb on top of the motor and they say she is running like a dream. New wood bed in the back, bench seat was redone two years ago. There is also a tag on the engine from a rebuilder in San Antonio. The assumtion is that the engine has been rebuilt. They state that it runs and does not smoke at all. It looks pretty nice in the photos, doesn't it? They note no problems. It will be our DEAL of the DAY next week as the price on this one is only $10,500.
