The average post on the Cars On Line Facebook timeline will get about 300 "Likes" from our Facebook fans. But when we post classic Chevy Nomad Wagons on our Facebook page they can get as many as 2,000 "Likes," far more than your average social media post. In fact, this week we have two '55 classic Chevy Nomad Wagons to choose from in our New Listings.
The black 1955 Chevy Nomad won 1st Place at Goodguys its first time out, and has only been shown a few times. The owner confirms what the pictures show. The paint is “flawless top and bottom," and it has a "powder coated frame.” The new 350 Chevy small block with a mild cam mates up to a 4-speed Muncie transmission. We refer to it as a resto mod, with its lowered stance and muscle car wheels. But the updated interior remains true to the original design. It comes with power steerng and power disc brakes. Ask the seller ... he'll tell you it runs and looks amazing. It took seven years to restore.
It is unusual for Cars On Line.com to have two classic Chevy Nomad Wagons listed for sale in the same week. Both feature custom mods but fit into our Resto Mod definition because they keep the original design. Both of these cars have the red and white "waffle" interior styling much like the originals. You can wax nostalgic as you cruise back into time.
The red 1955 Chevy Nomad Wagon from Texas is a nicely restored resto mod which remains very true to its "old school styling." Although it has an updated driveline and suspension, it still has an original look with whitewall tires and original interior by Ciadella out of Scottsdale. What a find for a collector. (Click here to read his ad and contact information.) It is the kind of car you could take on the Power Tour or show at a Goodguys event. The motor is a 2004 LS1 from a Pontiac GTO. The Tremec 6-speed engages with an American Powertrain hydarulic clutch system, has HydraTech Power Brakes, AutoRad cooling and Vintage Air. The suspension uses tubular upper A-arms.
We think Chevrolet would do well to bring back a retro version of the Nomad Wagon. In many ways this was the original sport utility wagon. Sporty Bel Air hardtop design up front with a full load carrying capability and tailgate like on a pickup truck. I bet it would sell as well as today's retro Camaros.

Congratulations to the crew at the Fall Carlisle Auction last weekend. They sold this classic 1954 Buick Skylark Convertible for $105,000 (includes buyer's commission). It was a confirmation that top quality collector cars are in demand among today's collectors. The Carlisle Events promoters told us the auction sales were up 38 percent over last years sale. One of the reasons we like the Carlisle Auction format is that they only charge you if they sell the car. They call it their FREE UNLESS SOLD policy. That could be a game changer for the auction industry. The Fall Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet and Car Coral in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, has historically been one of the top shows in the country.

October is an incredibly busy month for Car Shows and Events.
One of our favorite cruises, Cruisin The Coast, is happening as you read this along the Mississippi Gulf Coast with car shows and parties planned at every stop. This is where collectors tour from one town to another along the coastline all the way to New Orleans. The Vicari Auction will be held in Biloxi, Mississippi, October 6-8, 2016, as part of this event. Gulf Live.com reported that 7,758 car collectors had registered at the Ocean Springs, Mississippi venue by Thursday morning this week. The mayor of Ocean Springs said it was the biggest crowd they'd seen in 20 years.
Then, next weekend, Goodguys Rod & Custom Association will hold their Nostalgia Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky, October 14-16, 2016. Later in the month, Cars On Line will be on hand to cover the Goodguys 23rd Annual Pennzoil Southeastern Nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina, October 21-23, 2016. Watch for our Facebook and Twitter posts live from the show. Over 2,500 rods and classics are expected for this one.

U.S. light vehicle sales slipped slightly in September as several major automakers reported declines for the month. A total of 1.4 million cars and trucks rolled off dealership lots, putting overall sales down 0.7 percent compared to September of last year. The numbers have been released by WardsAuto.com. Their data center provides the most trusted numbers for new car sales.
General Motors, the nation’s largest car manufacturer, said its total sales were flat at 249,779 cars and trucks. Meanwhile Ford, the second largest U.S. automaker, reported its sales fell 8.4 percent to 198,547 vehicles. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) finished the month with a drop in sales as well, reporting its U.S. sales were down 1.1 percent to 191,210 cars and trucks.
The big Japanese automakers posted mixed results during the month of September. Toyota, the largest Japanese car manufacturer, said it sold 197,260 cars and trucks last month, a 1.5 percent gain from the same month in 2015. Meanwhile Honda’s overall sales were slightly less from September 2015 results.
So far a total of 13 million cars and trucks have been sold in the U.S. during 2016, a 0.4 percent increase over last year at this time. Some analysts suggest 2016 sales could still top the record of 17.5 million set last year.

You're looking at one of the most original 512BBs in existence according to Legendary Motorcar Co. They say it's a 1981 Ferrari 512BB that's just 1,500 miles from new and one-family owned until 2016. It remains oriignal and still has the plastic still on the sills, as well as factory original tires. It's remained in heated storage but is ready for a new owner. It's well documented and recently serviced. Does this black beauty deserve some miles finally?

It is rare that we find a big block Corvette in Cars On Line's DEAL of the DAY feature here in the newsletter. But prices on these cars are coming down. So here is a very popular 1969 Corvette Big Block Stingray with a 427/390 hp L36 motor which is said to be completely rebuilt. Most impressive though is the seller's statement that it is "all numbers matching." That is incredible! The car does have a new Flowmaster exhaust, new recrhomed bumpers and an excellent interior, according to the ad copy. It is also a 4-speed car. Now for the good part. We are still seeing high No. 2 condition show cars selling for over $100,000 at major auctions. So to find a classic 1957 Ford Thunderbird that looks as good as this one for under $30,000 is something worth checking out. The car is offered for sale by Mershons in Springfield, Ohio. Dan Mershon knows how to buy cars. And this is a true classic find, with the 312 ci V8, fender skirts, Continental kit and chrome laced wheels. This one is worth having inspected. Streetside Classics in Tampa, Florida has a sweet 1959 Edsel Ranger 2-Dr Hardtop that looks so nice in the photos you just have to wonder how it survived in this kind of condition. In fact, this hardtop coupe Ranger is only one of 5,474 produced in '59 – and you can just imagine how few have survived today looking this good. Under the hood is the correct 292 cubic-inch V8. It looks fantastic with its golden air cleaner, golden valve coves, and everything else in a high gloss black. Although the Edsel never sold well in its time, today they are very collectible. This one will be our DEAL of the DAY on Monday because the asking price is $17,995. Streetside Classics says it can finance this car for $194.13 per month to a qualified buyer.

In today's collector car market prices are trending downward. But one of the few classic muscle cars that is still increasing in value is the first generation Pontiac Firebird Convertible. So really check out this 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible carefully (maybe even have it inspected.) This popular year and make of Firebird is priced about $20,000 below the average selling price. The seller from Cromwell, Connecticut says it is a driver quality car that needs paint. An older restoration, he says it drives straight and solid with no rattles or shakes. He says it has subframe connectors, an updated suspension, new brakes and new emergency brake cables. Read the ad for more info. This is the sleeper deal of the week. This classic Buick was evidently so elegant it was used for weddings back in New York where it hails from. Garage kept all these years in Kingston, New York, this 1946 Buick Super 8 Sedan is said to be replete with whitewall tires and new interior upholstery. It would be an excellent subject for a pre-purchase inspection. It comes with a "three-on-a-tree" manual transmission and directional signals. The seller seems to indicate that it is still fun to drive. An inspection will get you more photos and information about its condition. What if it really is as good as it looks? A true survivor in a rare color combination, this Comet GT from Atlanta, Georgia may be the missing link in your collection. The seller it has a strong running 302 with a 4-barrel carburetor. He describes it as being in driver quality condition. But the price is the interesting thing about this one. Take a look at the photos. This particular 1962 Studebaker Lark Convertible comes with a rare V8 motor, automatic transmission and air conditioning. Check out the two-tone interior in the ad photos.
